About Bagpipe Chanters- How to Buy Chanters for Your Bagpipes
2007-08-21 10:30:00
By Ilse Hagen A bagpipe chanter is the part of the bagpipe that produces the melody. It is usually a narrow, conical tube that has a series of small holes. These holes are alternately covered and uncovered to control the pitch produced by the chanter. At the top of the bagpipe chanter is the reed.Bagpipe chanters usually consist of two main divisions: the parallel and non-parallel bored. The former allows the bagpipe to produce a sweet tone while the latter allows for the control of volume in bagpipes.Wood or resin?Wooden chanters are made of solid, durable wood such as African Blackwood, Cocobola, or Rosewood. They usually come in the key of concert pitch D and the key of B and are usually tuned to the key of A in 440 Hz. Most wooden chanters have keyblocks for adding brass keys and mounts usually made of maple wood or synthetic ivory.Meanwhile, a resin bagpipe chanter is made from durable resin and comes in the key of concert pitch D and the key of B. Piano Tuning - Can you Do It Yourself?
2007-08-26 08:10:00
By Jim SelleckI have been a professional piano tuner for decades, but I still remember well a time when I was a young piano player, knowing nothing at all about tuning. I only knew that to satisfy my ears my piano needed to be tuned about four times a year, with the change of the seasons, and that my parents could only afford to pay for one tuning a year.In a recent popular movie, a teenaged wizard reminds his friends that every skilled person, even the greatest, started out as a beginner. As long as you have no prohibitive physical limitations, you can learn, with time, study, and practice, to do anything yourself. Can you tune your own piano? You can, providing you have a good sense of pitch and are not tone deaf. However, you should never attempt to adjust a piano string without thoroughly understanding what you are about to do. There is a real danger of damaging your valuable piano or even seriously injuring yourself if you don’t do it right. You must have the proper tools and alw

I Love Kenny Chesney
2007-08-26 08:10:00
By Debby BanningKenny Chesney ... a true beach bum, a man after my own heart! The first time I saw him in concert was at the Dale Earnhardt Tribute concert in Daytona Beach, Florida back in 2003. Ever since then I have been in love.Kenny loves the beach, loves a good time, has high expectations and goals, never gives up, and works extremely hard. I could not have described myself better. If you have ever been to one of his shows you know how addictive they are. Once you go once, you are waiting in line when the tickets go on sale the next year. I have driven all over the state of Florida to his shows. I would be willing to pay the cost to fly to an exotic Caribbean island to see his show. He is so full of energy. What I love a lot about Kenny Chesney is that he seems so thankful to his fans. Without fans to buy your records and come see your shows you are a broke singer with a dream. It seems as though being rich and famous hasn't changed him to an ungrateful person like it has for oth

Fall Out Boy - Review

By Mantas LisauskasFall Out Boy are a new band that I have heard recently being played by Jo Whiley on Radio 1. I instantly fell in love with the song Sugar, We're Goin Down so I thought I would write a quick review on them and let you know a little bit about their background.Fall Out Boy were brought to life a little over one year ago. The Chicago based band formed after Pete Wentz decided to leave the band he was in and join forces with good friend and guitarist Joe Trohman and began writing pop songs for fun. The dynamic duo stumbled upon Patrick Strump, and without ado Patrick found himself as the vocalist of the newly born band. The trio were now in search for a drummer. After loads of auditions and many members coming and going, the band's try-fail-try method teamed them up with an old friend, Andy Hurley. Fall Out Boy knew they had found the perfect combination. From Under The Cork Tree which was released in 2005 is overflowing with potential hit singles. It also contains some
