An Easy $250 from Diasense Inc. (DSNS) 2007-07-31 19:26:41 Well, here I am up at midnight writing another post about making easy money by doing next to nothing. This time the plan is to purchase 12,499 shares of Diasense Inc. at $0.03 per share (a meager $375 investment). As stated in DSNS’s PRER 14C, the company will do a 1:12,500 reverse split around August 20th. Anyone who would end up with fractional shares will have their shares bought at $0.05 per share. This is a 2 cent profit on 12,499 shares which makes for a nearly $250 profit in very little time. We are looking at making 66% in a matter of 2-3 months (once everything settles out).
The matters upon which action is being taken are:
1. To reverse split the currently issued and outstanding common stock (the
“Common Stock”) of the Company on a 12,500 shares for 1 share basis, with
fractional shares paid in cash at the rate of ($.05) cents for each fractional
share….

The fall of the Berlin Wall had a world-wide impact. The fall of the wall abolished trade controls, reduced regularions, and minimized bureaucracy. According to Manmohan Singh, current finance minister of India:
“We were always at 3 percent growth….to make better returns, you had to go ot America. Well, three years later [after the 1991 reforms] we were at 7 percent rate of growth….Now to make it you could stay in India and become one of Forbes’s richest people in the world…All the years of socialism and controls had taken us downhill to the point where we had only $1 billion in foreign currenty. Today we have $118 billion…We went from quiet self-confidence to outrageous ambition in a decade” (p. 53)
Huge Potential in Hybrid Dynamics (HYBY) 2007-07-19 23:37:39 Here is another potential opportunity for a great return on a very small investment. This situation is similar to the Point Acquisition situation which I wrote about in the post “My best move yet…46,000% profit.”
A DEF 14C dated July 19,2007 from HybridDynamics
stated:
On July 6, 2007, the Board and the Consenting Stockholders adopted a resolution to amend the Company’s Articles of Incorporation to effect a stock combination, or reverse stock split, pursuant to which every one hundred (100) shares (the “Old Shares”) of the Company’s outstanding Common Stock would be exchanged for one (1) new share (the “New Shares”) of Common Stock. No fractional shares will be issued, instead, each shareholder whose aggregate number of Old Shares (held in one name or account immediately prior to the filing of the amended Articles) are fewer than ten thousand (10,000) will receive one hundred (100) New Shares in exchange for such Old Shares.

Arbitrage Opportunity - KTEL (20-30% Profit) 2007-07-11 23:37:51 Ok, all of the posts up to this date have covered investing moves I’ve made in the past. This will be the first post that will provide you with useful information that (hopefully) you can use to turn a profit. This will be another lesson in arbitrage. It won’t make you rich, but if you have $300-$400 to spare we should be able to make an $80-100 profit in two to three months.
The stock is K Tel International Inc. (KTEL). This is a penny-stock that normally wouldn’t be a wise investment. Ironically, it is the “lack of an active trading market for its common stock” that makes this copany worth investing in (but only for a few more days and only at a certain amount).
Because of the lack of interest in the stock, and because of the regulatory burdens of being publically traded, this company plans to go private. In order to do this the company must have fewer than 300 share holders. The common method of reducing the number of shareholders in this situation is Read more:Arbitrage

You Can’t Win Them All 2007-07-10 23:20:38 Ok, here is the only stock that lost money for me…but taught me a valuable lesson. Ergo Science Corp. (ERGO - now ERGN) voted on January 2, 2007 in favor of a 200:1 reverse split (this is the same thing as my Collins Industries play). Shares would be bought for $2.10 from anyone owning less than 200 shares. I purchased 199 shares for $0.88. This should have netted a $240 profit; however, I made one mistake….
….The company filed the papers for the split at 11pm on February 6. I did not come across the stock until February 8. I knew that the papers had already been filed, but I noticed that the split had not actually happened. I was not sure what would happen if I purchased the stock after the papers were filed but before the split took place. I decided that potential reward outweighed the risk so I decided to go ahead and try it. I learned my lesson. Next time I won’t make the same mistake - and now you shouldn’t either.

My best move yet…46,000% profit 2007-07-09 11:34:22 Yes, it is true….and done in less than three months. In the interest of full disclosure (and so you don’t think I’m loaded), it was a 46,000% increase on a $0.25 stock. Still, you can’t complain about turning 25 cents into $115. How did it work? I’ll walk you though it.
Whenever a stock does a reverse split the company has to decide what will be done with fractional shares and what to do with individuals that will be left with less than one whole share after the split. Often the company’s solution to this issue can provide investors with an opportunity to make a decent profit
. Here are two common situations:
1. The company will buy the shares of anyone owning less than one whole share. This sometimes presents an attractive arbitrage situation if the company is buying the shares at a price higher than the current price. Read my post about Collins Industries to see how I took advantage of this type situation.
2. The company will round up fractional sh

Investment Fund, Inc. (IIF). India was receiving simliar hype to China so I took a shot at both. While China has done well for me, IIF has been less than impressive - though not terrible. I purchased the ETF on 3/28/06 for $50.00 a share. It currently trades at $45. While the stock has lost $5 since I purchased it, I have also received around $5 per share in dividends and capital gains…so, thus far it has been a wash. Again, I’m in this one for the long haul, so I’ll be cheering on India and we’ll see what happens.

I made 25% in under a month…you could too. 2007-08-08 22:38:35 In a post on July 12 I pointed out an arbitrage opportunity with KTEL. I purchased 4,999 shares at $0.077 per share. Those shares were then bought back at $0.095 per share soon after I made the purchase…Making me an easy $90+ in under a month by doing absolutely nothing. The cash was just delivered to my Scottrade account on Monday. I will continue to find similar investment opportunities. In the mean-time read my other arbitrage posts to get a handle on how these deals work. Subscribe to this blog and check it periodically - it might help you make a few easy bucks (or a few hundred or thousand).
KRE with Help from Bernanke 2007-08-27 23:10:50 So, the Fed cut interest rates Friday the 17th. I’m no expert, but I believe that this will help the markets in the short-term; however it is up in the air as to how long it will prolong the current bull market. Jim Cramer (8/20/07) was very positive about this move. On the other hand, Jon Markman seems strongly opposed in his August 24th article on The Street. The one thing they both agree on…two things actually…is that (1) more rate cuts will follow and (2) these will be a huge benefit to regional banks. Both recommended Regional Bank ETF’s.
The rate cuts are great for Regional Banks because they are able to make more money from “the spread” - or the difference between the rate they borrow money and the rate they loan it. As rates are cut further the banks will make a bigger profit on the spread. Rather than picking a regional bank or two it seems wisest at this time to go for the whole basket.
I went with Cramer’s recommendation of KBW Re Read more:Bernanke
Tutor Vista - The World IS Flat! 2007-08-31 17:00:32 Lately I’ve been reading “The World
Is Flat” by Thomas L. Friedman. I have not made it far as we have moved twice in the last few months (one move being over a thousand miles). However, you can pick up the basic premise of the book in just the first few chapters - that technological innovations have demolished the physical, cultural, and language barriers that once existed, creating an amazingly interconnected world where thoughts, ideas, data, and documents can be shared, and jobs and services can be performed, anywhere and anytime regardless of physical distance. As a result, many services (i.e. tax preparation and customer service) have been outsourced to other countries (India being the most recognizable) where the work can be done in a more cost-effective manner.
Most of us have experienced this when calling customer service. You may not have noticed the first time, but after a few calls you realize that the odds of everyone in an American call center having an I Read more:Vista
Rate Cut Paying Off for KRE 2007-09-19 23:36:49 Thanks to the rate cuts I hoped for, my play on KBW Regional Banking (KRE) has been successful. I purchased the stock for 45.25 on August 23 (rationale for the purchase). The price dropped nearly a dollar and was trading under 44.5 prior to the Fed’s announcement. In the hours following the announcement of the 50 basis point interest rate cut (most people only expected a 25 point cut) the stock jumped to over $46/share, and the following day traded, briefly, over $47/share. I will continue to hold onto this stock as the lower interest rates should be beneficial for regional banks and because further rate cuts are a possibility down the road.
KRE - Will Rate Cuts Help? 2007-09-15 22:43:30 My post KRE with Help from Bernake explained my decision to put some money into KBW Regional Banking. It seems that the rate cuts I was hoping for may be coming, as the Fed is scheduled to meet this Tuesday (and the general feeling is that interest rates may be cut by as much as 50 points). While the efficacy of such a cut to keep the economy afloat is debatable, it does bode well for my investment in KRE. I purchased the shares at 45.25 last month. Since then it has slipped by over a dollar. I expect the price to rise after a cut is announced, and hopefully continue rising if subsequent cuts are a reality. My fingers are crossed until Tuesday.

FeedJit: Real-Time Blog Traffic Feeds 2007-09-06 23:20:35
A few days ago I came across a cool app called FeedJit that you can easily add to your website or blog. It is so simple - you don’t even need to register or provide information. It only takes a few easy steps:
1. Customize your feed to match your websites look and feel.
2. Copy the code.
3. Paste it anywhere on your webpage.
There are two options. One feed will show live visits on a map, the other will give you live arrival and departure information - the location of your visitors, which site they came from, and which sites they go to when they leave! Very cool!
