Ugh, someone save me. 2007-07-26 08:39:01 For just one of my classes, books are going to cost over $200. That’s just for one. Imagine the other three…
All together, I am looking at about $500 for books. I don’t HAVE $500! I need $300 more to buy books. I don’t know how I am going to get them all at this rate. I have a month to figure out how to get $200 for books. That’s even IF I can get everything used at the very best price. Maybe my grandmother will lend it to me. God, I hope. I’ll be able to pay her back at the end of September. Or maybe Alfred can lend it to me, but I would hate to ask him after all that he has already spent on me.
What am I supposed to do!?
Okay. First. Calm down. Yes. Just be CALM. Don’t try to think about how much you hate the professors who make you buy 10 books, some of which are upwards of $40. Don’t think about the professors who make you buy one book that costs over $100. Just. Be. Calm.
I can’t be calm.

I’ve always wanted to be spoiled rotten 2007-07-26 05:25:08 Yes, it’s true, I’ve had dreams of female grandeur for quite a while. It’s every girls fantasy to meet a guy with muscles defined enough to protect them, who adores the very ground they walk on and who spoils them needlessly.
Alfee bought me another present. Yes. In addition to the purse, the two pairs of shoes, the cell phone, the iPod Nano, the pink Nintendo DS Lite, the external harddrive, the dragon clock, and the pretty blue and gray computer mouse…
(See, like I said, I’m spoiled.)
Yes, another present. And if you thought I was spoiled as shit with all that, wait.
What did he buy me (as an early birthday present, mind you)?
A laptop.

Family is less than family 2007-07-25 22:50:07 My sister’s boyfriend’s mother is visiting for a while to spend time with her son and the new baby.
Well, my mother goes to visit today after a ten hour work day to see my sister and the baby (because she adores him and can’t stand to go more than a day without seeing him) and guess what happens?
Now, before I get into it, let me say that I didn’t hear about this until about an hour or so ago after my mother finally confides in me while crying. We were making dinner together and talking and it just slowly starts to come out bit by bit. I know my mother very well, so I know when something is bothering her or when she is skirting an issue; I knew while we talked that she was upset and to keep probing for details as she reluctantly gave them to me.
Apparently today, oh so happily as can be, my sister’s boyfriend’s (Patrick) mother tells my mother, “And when Virginia’s (my sister) 3-year contract is over (at work), they’ll be movi
The Harry Potterlypse 2007-07-24 04:35:12 At 11:51pm on Friday, June 20th, I pointed to the clock in my boyfriends SUV and said, “in less than ten minutes, the world will erupt into chaos.”
There was a strange stillness to the air, a calm that portends danger to come. The roads were strikingly empty for a Friday night, the occasional car passing or merging onto a highway that was usually packed at this hour on this night of the week.
On Saturday, Alfee and I decide to go to the Greenbrier Mall because that particular one has a pet store and puppies to look at. I saw the book and told him I wanted it because I do. And, I only have a month left during which pleasure reading will be possible. After August 25th, my entire year will be spent reading books for classes.
And, I also wanted to be part of one of the biggest events of the century. Sometimes, you just have to go with the flow of the hype. I mean, I bet a lot of people who could have gone to Woodstock but didn’t feel like tools for not wanting to Read more:Harry
Lj is at it again 2007-07-20 19:40:18 I knew that Livejournal, as announced via this post would somehow find a way to apply their standards in line with the Miller Test in order to define what is appropriate content on their service and what is not. Which was why, of course, I mentioned the Miller Test in my previous musing of this issue.
Of course, that gives Livejournal / SixApart free reign to decide what is obscene within the community. Usually, this is applied to local standards but, since Livejournal is a wordwide service and they can’t use any sort of grouped community standard (because standards and laws vary from state to state and from country to country), the community essentially lies within the Administrators at SixApart.
That’ll give them the right to delete and ban whatever they see fit. If something squicks them, it goes. They already have a hard time telling fake from real, so I imagine that a lot of writing journals will see the cutting room. Not to mention that it might be even more
I just feel like complaining 2007-07-10 04:05:32 Why are men so thoughtless? Why do they make promises that they don’t keep? How can someone so flippantly, so easily, make a tiny promise just to disregard it only days later?
I’ve had enough disappointment in my life to last a lifetime. I don’t want anymore. I don’t want to keep feeling like I can never trust anyone. I don’t want to feel as if the only way I can have some peace and quiet in my head is to be alone.
I just don’t want to be told anything unless it’s said with utter, unshakable sincerity.
Is that too much to expect?
One more, one more 2007-07-06 16:46:02 I forgot to give the news.
My sister finally had her baby. A tubby, adorable baby boy. He’s MASSIVE. Not fat, just big. Then again it makes sense. My sister is the tallest in our family and her boyfriend is tall. I think their son is definitely going to be a tall boy.
He’s adorable.
My sister was supposed to give birth on the 28th, which was also the day that she found out through ultrasound that she was not going to have the girl that the nurse had told her she was carrying (which sucked because for 7+ months, everyone had been buying her things for a girl, so now she is practically unprepared for a boy), but she didn’t go into labor. They decided that if she hadn’t given birth by that Monday, the 2nd of July, they would induce labor.
So, they did.
Nothing.
July 3rd, still trying to induce. Nothing.
July 4th, nothing.
Finally, at around 1:20am on July 5th, they decided that the baby would have to be born via C-Section. I mean, that baby was big. No won
Someone should have told me! 2007-07-06 16:06:44 Today I tripped, broke a glass and burnt myself. All within the first five minutes of waking.
I had a sort of nightmare. In it, Alfred gave me a lock. It was a combination lock that you set and then clicked to open. It was a weird lock, one that would never actually make it on the market seeing as the combination was right there on the frickin’ thing. Not too good of a security device.
Anyways, in this sort of nightmare, Alfred decided after he had given ME the lock that he would give it to someone else. I was all, “GTFO, Commie!” and I yelled at him and threw my stuff at him. All the while, my sister was like, “woah, calm down.” I don’t know why she was there, but she was.
In the dream, just as in real life, my tantrum did not soothe my rage towards him. Yet, unlike real life, he was unaffected. Maybe that’s what bothered me the most.
Then, I storm out on him and walk out. That was when I noticed that I was in a school, though no
I suppose… 2007-07-31 18:48:25 I suppose that not getting any mail for two days is a good thing, right? No news is good news, right? No bills, no collection notices, no errant letters from the father I loathe. Nothing. Not even the miscellaneous crap that I get for old residents of this apartment.
I go to check the mail, though, and out goes my mom’s cat. He’s a BAD kitty! Gandalf (he’s gray, get it?) loves to go outside. My mother bought him a small dog leash and takes him out for walks because if she doesn’t, he’ll scream at the windows and doors for hours on end and won’t leave anyone alone. Then, whenever you open a door, there he is trying to run out. Like I said, a bad, evil, terrible kitty.
I open the door, he runs out, I have to run out behind him shoeless to get to him in time before he vanishes in the bushes or gets hit by a car in the parking lot. The sidewalk was hot, too. I haven’t burnt the bottoms of my feet since I was ten years old playing outs Read more:hellip
A million things to do… 2007-08-03 00:57:15 Isn’t it wonderful? People have donated a total of $7 to me and the running of this website here (that money goes into the domain fund). I also have $60 for google adense and $32 from payperpost.com for expenses. So, hopefully buying books and paying back my grandmother won’t send me to the work house, Dickens style. Ever since google redid how they pay for clicks, my earnings have seriously dropped. In total, I get about 10,000 hits a day yet I can barely break a dollar.
For serious!

Special Spiders and their special ways 2007-08-07 10:34:51 You know what I hate more than spiders? Spending $479 on books for one semester of college like I did today. I placed two orders: one with Amazon.com and one with the ODU bookstore. I did some comparisons and I purchased each book from the place that had it the cheapest. Because of my total, I get free shipping from Amazon.com and the ODU bookstore offers in store pick up for free. So, all together for my four classes, I spent over $100 for each. An averaged $133… which is unfair, really. The class that cost the most was my 402W, which was about $200. Every other class was about $100 or averaged just under.
What was I talking about before I started ranting about how broke I am? Which I am, by the way. Totally broke.
Safetynet in bank=GONE!
Every morning, the very same spider builds a web that extends from the wooden fence to the torch in my backyard. This web just so happens to cover the area directly out of my backdoor so that every time someone walks out of the

Another Mystery of the World 2007-08-10 20:59:47 The sound of one hand clapping. A tree falling in the woods. Mysteries of life, philosophical questions with material forms for us to ponder. Just like the question, “how the hell does someone who is sitting fall down?”
Seriously. I would like to know because it just happened to me.
Here I sat, in my armless computer chair, innocently scanning the floor for my book. Only moments ago I had set it down to go downstairs. When I returned and sat back down in my computer chair, I couldn’t quite remember where I had put it and I couldn’t see it anywhere. So, I scanned the floor with a quick, sweeping gaze, spotting my book lying open on the floor just by my feet. To retrieve it, I bent over from where I sat, extending my arm outward to grab for the book.
But when I bent over, I felt myself tipping forward, forward. What was even worse than the sudden vertigo was that I couldn’t stop myself from tipping!
In seconds, PLOP, on the ground.

Bedroom Furniture 2007-08-10 01:12:05 I was just surfing Houston furniture, a company of Gallery Furniture
, and I started to browse the bedroom furniture. As I did, I came across this bed:
If I could get any one bed from this company, it would be that one.
First off, furniture, I always go for the darker wood colors. I like blackish or reddish woods, something like cherry or mahogany, better than plain oak or golden colors.
What I like even more about this bed is the design of it. I’ve always wanted a canopy bed. There’s something naturally elegant and cultured about a bed that has a canopy, especially when you can drape curtains. Then, your bed affords you even more privacy in your bedroom. This bed is better than just any bed with a canopy, though, because the poles of the four corners of the bed are made to look like columns, fluted and all. From what I can see from the picture, which is a little dark, the tops are cut in the reserved, sophisticated Ionic style. The tops are too elaborate to the Dor Read more:Bedroom

Down that lonely, wandering road 2007-08-17 17:45:53 I did something that I haven’t done in a long, long time.
I went for a walk.
We were out of bread, so I scraped together all of the money that I had in this world (a bunch of change that had been sitting on my computer desk) to go and get some. Then, off I went to the store. From where I live, there is a grocery store only about four blocks away. It was hot, but that’s to be expected on an August day around 11pm.
I do suffer from sometimes extreme paranoia in public, especially in heavily populated but wide open spaces, even more so when I am alone. But, I stuffed all of this down because I was absolutely intent on going to get bread for my mother.
See? Who needs medication when you have strong mental motivation?
I got the bread, which broke my bank at a whopping $1.55.
Sadly, when I got home, I realized that I had left without sunscreen. Now my face and my arms have this awful pink tint to them. Once that fades, there will be a hint of brownness to my skin. I rea
Shared dental health experience 2007-08-16 01:10:35 I went in to go brush my teeth and wash my face for the night. So, I went into the bathroom, took off my glasses to wash my face, and then realized that I had left my toothbrush sitting on the rack in the shower.
I go into the next room where the shower is (my bathroom is in two parts. One part has the sink and mirror, then the other part, though another door, has the shower and stuff) and I reach up and grab a toothbrush that looks like mine. Remember, though… I took my glasses off. My vision is far, FAR from even remotely good when I don’t have my glasses on.
I thought it was mine.
It wasn’t.
As I began to brush my teeth, I thought to myself, “My, this toothbrush feels strange.”
I take it out. I look at it. I see that it is in fact NOT my toothbrush, but is Alfred’s.
Oops.
I hope he won’t mind. I’ll tell him when he comes over just in case he should want to throw it away. I figured after I started and noticed my error, I migh Read more:dental

Why I hate IE 2007-08-14 08:45:07 I had to use IE for something, so I chanced using it even though I hate it. Hate it, hate it. Not only is it slow, but it is full of security holes and weak places where nasty things can get in and get on your computer.
And go figure…
After an hour, I had THREE major spyware/aware applications on my computer. It took me two hours to scan, clean, delete, scan, clean, delete, and so on. Finally, at around 6:30, I finish the last scan and clean, removing some stupid start up application.
Three years using Firefox and none of this crap gets in. Three hours of using IE and three things get put on my computer. My precious baby.
Even more reason to use Firefox, not IE.
Like you care, right? 2007-08-21 15:40:52 I have the WORST indigestion right now. I didn’t eat anything weird, anything spicy, or anything greasy. Just your average tuna on white bread with iced tea. It has never given me a problem before.
I’m getting old! That’s the problem.
I have stomach problems, I get tired easy, I get fat easy, and it’s hard for me to lose weight once I gain it. Yes. All signs of approaching 30.
Oh! But, Alfee called me today and asked me if I wanted to do something this weekend. It was like he could read my mind. I told him we’d plan something when it got closer to the weekend, though, because I don’t want him to feel obligated to do something for me. It’s the thought that counts, the thought that he cared enough to think about me and stuff and want to make me happy.

for her, but my sister was resistant to the idea. In the end, my mother and I had to abandon the idea of having a Baby Shower, Rite of Passage that it is. But today, viewing Party Pail’s baby shower decorating themes is making me feel sort of sad that we didn’t get to plan and hold a baby shower! Seriously, the stuff that they have available to purchase is just too cute.
Even cooler and more convenient? Party Pail even offers up a set of themes like this one:
It’s a Radio Flyer Red Wagon Baby Shower! This would be really great for a boy, I think. Imagine it: white and red plates, red cups, white balloons with tiny Radio Flyer’s, white napkins and red forks all situated around a wonderful Radi
Dreading the school year… 2007-08-21 10:51:29 Less than a week. I’m counting the days until Monday when I have to go back to that horrid place for an all new round of needless assignments, cram readings, and sleepless nights putting the final touches on papers.
I was sort of hoping Alfee would take me out on a nice final date before the semester starts since I will barely have time for us over the next six months, but I don’t think that is going to happen considering that all I have is one weekend remaining and our plans are pretty final that we won’t be doing anything. Once the weekend is over, though, I’ll be lucky to be able to spare time to eat and sleep; forget seeing a movie or doing anything fun!
So, there is just a mild sense of disappointment intermingled with dread. It’s hard to tell if the feeling in my stomach is that or period cramps. I hope it’s the period cramps. Read more:hellip
Parent Plus Student Loan 2007-08-24 20:08:12 College is hard to pay for. There is housing, food, books, transportation, essentials, tuition… the list goes on and on. Before you know it, you’re completely broke. Being a University student myself, I know how hard it can be to stretch money to pay for tuition and books. Sometimes, I don’t think that I am going to be able to get my tuition paid and pay for books at the same time.
There is assistance available to people, though. A parent plus student loan is a low interest student loan that will make it easier for parents to send their children to school. Through the federal plus loan program, parents can take a loan out to cover up to 100% of the cost of attendance. Even better? The loan is NOT income based, which means the income of a household is not factored into the loan award decision.
So, if you are a parent about to send a kid to college or a undergraduate facing college for the first time, perhaps a loan would help lead you to the road towards succ Read more:Parent
