China Airlines Passenger Plane Destroyed in Fire 2007-08-21 01:51:41 A passenger plane of ChinaAirlines
was almost completely destroyed in fire on Monday morning at Naha airport of Southern Japan’s Okinawa Prefecture, according to Japanese media.
None of the 163 passengers and crew members was injured in the accident since the fire broke out after all of them got off the plane in notice of initial flame, airport and Japan’s National Police Agency (NPA) officials said.
Kyodo News quoted China Airlines officials as saying that the fire broke out at around 10:30 a.m. from engine below one of the main wing of the Boeing 737 plane following its landing.
While the cause of the fire is still unknown, the NPA denied any terrorist attack behind the accident.
TV footage showed that strong fire and thick smoke rose from middle and end part of the plane before about ten fire department vehicles and about a hundred firefighters gathered around the plane to put off the fire in about 40 minutes.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu made the remarks when asked to comment on recent German media reports that held Chinese hacker accountable for attacking the computer networks of German governmental organs.
Jiang noted Chinese laws and regulations have clear provisions on forbidding such computer-related criminal activities.
Hacker attack is an international issue and China was also a victim, she said.

period for the notification of allocation of press accommodation requests and is
adjusting the date for payment of the first 50 per cent deposit beyond the
previously notified deadline of 1 September 2007. Accommodation
allocation
notifications are being progressively dispatched.
News organizations receiving their accommodation allocation notification from
BOCOG will be asked to return their confirmation immediately.
BOCOG will then fax or mail an official Accommodation Allocation Agreement
(AAA) to the press organization for signing. The AAA will stipulate the date by
which payment of the first deposit (50 per cent of the total) must be made. The
deposit is not required before the AAA is signed by both parties.
