Internet Version 2.0 2007-07-26 09:33:20 sHow will the Internet
be, tomorrow ?
Before we even attempt to answer that question lets answer this one : How is the Internet, today ?
When we think about it, we realize that there is more to it than we know. It is a part of our lives, it has morphed itself from some-bunch-of-information-lying-out-there to everything-that-I-want-and-served-the-way-I-want.
Its also not any more go-out-and-get-it.
With RSS feeds you can get a piece of the Internet in your mailbox.
What’s more you can now have Podcasts. You can listen to your-piece-of-the-Internet by getting it on your iPod. Have a peek at these audio-blogs and you will see that the Internet is no more a text interface, it can now talk to you.
In the 1990s the Internet was seen as an extension to business, with everything in business being prefixed with an ‘e-’.
However, since human needs shaped it, the Internet has taken a tilt towards the social side of human life.
The natural approach to entertainment, decision ma

How to Get Indexed by Google in 6 Days 2007-07-26 07:38:25
I justed checked and Google
has finally indexed this site. I was beginning to wonder as I think I’ve had other sites listed sooner - but 6 days is nothing to scoff at. It would take many experiments to figure out what factors speed up the time it takes to get listed, but I’ll summarize some important things I did that may have played a part:
Submitted my URL to Google’s add url page.
Linked a word in one of my posts to an permalink on Google’s Blog.
Did the same thing to an article on TechCrunch.
Posted legitimate comments on a few blogs I enjoy reading
Announced this blog at BloggerForum.
Spent two or three hours writing a good article to submit to social news sites, submitted
Added RSS feed link to my site
Added blog to Technorati
Installed plugin to add Technorati tags to my posts
Installed this Google Sitemap plugin, created sitemap and pinged Google.

Google May lose It’s Name! 2007-07-24 21:06:56 We all know that Google
is our friend. But, do we know that where that name ‘Google’ came from?
Well read the story below to know the secret behind it –>
A Chinese company is suing Google’s China subsidiary for copying its name, saying the U.S. search engine’s registered Chinese name is too similar to its own and has harmed its operations.
A spokesman for Beijing Guge Science and Technology Ltd. Co. said Google’s commercial name had led to the company being constantly disturbed by people calling up its office trying to contact the search engine.
“We just want Google to change their commercial name,” Tian Yunshan, a company official, told Reuters on Friday. “We have already passed our demands on to Google … We will see what happens in court.”
The search engine’s Chinese name — a transliteration of the English word “Google” — was also used in Beijing Guge’s commercially registered name, Tian said.

Google’s $4.6 billion plan for an open wireless Internet 2007-07-22 23:19:32 Would that all kings were so benevolent. Google
announced today it would set aside at least $4.6 billion
to purchase a slice of the public airwaves in an upcoming government auction of radio spectrum. The company is imposing one condition on its money: It will only participate, it says, if the Federal Communications Commission requires that all bidders for the radio waves be forced to adhere to principles of Internet
“openness.”
This is huge news, though to understand its implications you’ve got to know what’s been going on in the regulatory debate over the next wireless Internet. More than a decade ago, the government mandated that all TV broadcasters transmit their signals digitally, freeing up a huge slice of public airwaves for other uses. In January, the FCC will hold a public auction of the vacated radio spectrum — it’s known at the 700 MHz frequency — and traditional communications companies such as AT&T and Verizon are salivating a
Benefits of Installing Windows on a Mac 2007-07-20 06:13:46 First of all if you got a Mac, then you don’t need to buy a windows machine to use windows simultaneously. Although, I use windows, I personally prefer Mac as its a lot easier to use and faster.
Some of the basic advantages of using a Mac instead of a PC are-
ease of use.
ease of understanding how it operates.
ease of computer maintenance and keeping it operating.
enhanced computer security and privacy.
enhanced computer stability.
enhanced computer productivity.
The best feature that I like about an Apple computer is its capability of running both Mac OSX & Windows
OS. If you accidentally buy a Mac and somehow disappointed with it then you have a choice of installing Windows on it. But, if you are disappointed with your Windows machine which you probably would be, then you can’t install Mac on it! (Unless you choose to use Linux etc.)
You can use Windows & Mac OSX in different way on a Mac:
1) After you install Windows on a, you can either use M Read more:Benefits
A Google OS 2007-07-19 09:06:33 Google OS stands for Google Operating System.
ATTENTION: this is not a real news, it’s more likely to be a guess on what web service Google is going to acquire for next.
My guess is for www.youos.com.
What is YouOS, and why is Google supposed to be going to buy it?
Let’s explain.
YouOS is an on-line Operating System: it’s free, it’s open source and it’s very easy to use: you don’t need to install it because it’s ready to be used online. You just need an internet browser.
YouOS, despite its development still being in Alpha stage, is powerful: you can create, save and upload documents in the most used formats; you can read feeds; surf the internet and collaborate with other people on the same virtual computer machine. Everything remains safe on the remote web server.
Doesn’t it sounds unbelievable? So it sounded for me, but i changed idea when I tried YouOS: and you should do it, too.
Now, why Google Inc should buy YouOS?
Take a breath, and read on:

Free Windows Security Kit 2007-07-28 22:20:02 Firewalls
The first step to good security, is not allowing anything unwanted to penetrate the confines of the establishment. This basically means to not let anyone or anything pass without permission. While many people recommend ZoneAlarm, I don’t. ZoneAlarm is supposed to be used to stop add-ware from getting in to your computer, well ZoneAlarm felt a whole lot like add-ware to me. It always popped up asking me if I wanted to register for the premium version or whatever, I also had to manually edit the values for allowing some programs to access the internet, such as Pidgin, with those programs it never asked me if I wanted to allow them to access the internet or not, it just wouldn’t them. That got very annoying. So, if you are not running a server, then I think the standard Microsoft Windows
firewall will do just fine.
Add-Ware
Speaking of add-ware, lets not about protection. No, not that kind of protection, I’ll leave that for your mommies and daddies to tell you about. The
Disable the Windows XP Boot Screen 2007-07-28 22:18:48 Do you hate Microsoft, but still are forced to use it just like me???
In that case you can try disabling the Windows
XP boot screen to feel better while using your XP.
Each time Windows XP is started, the Windows logo is displayed. To decrease boot time you can disable this screen. Click “Start” -> “Run…” and type “msconfig“.
After pressing the ‘Enter’ key you are presented the ‘System Configuration Utility’ window. Change to the “Boot.ini” tab. Enable the box labeled “/NOGUIBOOT” and click “Apply“. To close the dialog press the “Close” button.
Next time you start Windows XP, the boot logo is gone. Notice that this tweak will shorten the start time of Windows by only 1 second and be aware that boot time programs like CHKDSK or O&O Defrag will not be able to display their status screens. Therefore decide for yourself if you really want to disable the boot logo. To re-enable the XP boot screen just uncheck the box mentioned above. Read more:Disable
Faster XP shutdown 2007-07-28 22:16:38 If you shut down Windows XP, there can be some services stuck in the memory which Windows is not able to end the normal way. Therefore it has to “kill” those services. This can take some time because in default Windows for 20 seconds tries to normally end the services. To speed up the shutdown process, you can change this time.
Start the registry editor by clicking “Start” -> “Run…” and type “regedit“. Navigate to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control” and double-click on “WaitToKillServiceTimeout” located in the right window.
The value of this key is in milliseconds, the default is 20000. Change this value to 2000.
You can enter even lower values, however, some computers have problems running with a value of under 2000.
To shut down Windows even faster go to “HKEY_CURRENT_USER Control Panel Desktop” and make sure the value of the key “HungAppTimeout” is set to 5000. In the same folder double-click on “WaitToKillAppTimeou

Jobs says iPhone OSX Not open like Mac 2007-07-28 10:58:51 Jobs has stated in a couple articles this week, one from the New York Times and one from MSNBC, that Apple will be restricting third party applications for OS X on the iPhone
, unlike the open OS X platform for the Mac.Jobs describes the iPhone operating system to be more inline with the iPod, and less like the Mac or mobile computer, stating that the risk of loading custom built applications onto the iPhone could cause the phone to just not work, or even bring down the Cingular network.
“You don’t want your phone to be an open platform,” meaning that anyone can write applications for it, says Jobs in an interview with MSNBC. “You need it to work when you need it to work. Cingular doesn’t want to see their West Coast network go down because some application messed up.”
Based on the presentation at MacWorld this week Jobs portrayed the iPhone as a powerful device, but could a poor programmer writing an application placed on one iPhone really bring down a portion of a cellular
Upgrade your Laptop 2007-07-27 06:49:22 My Toshiba Laptop
is two years old now and it still runs on 512MB RAM. After two years of continuous use I recently wanted to speed it up a bit.
Now as Google is our friend, I searched it for tips on speeding up my computer. Then I got all sorts of different methods of editing the registry, modifying the startup programs from msconfig.exe, defragmenting the disk often etc. etc. etc. But, all this didn’t seem to help much. Finally, I went to the Tips and Tricks section of Cnet.com and checked out some tips on speeding up my computer. According to Cent.com the best way to speed up my computer was obviously adding more RAM to my Laptop.
Now, you might know this but there are always two slots in a typical laptop for where RAM is placed. So, after I decided to add some RAM, the question that came up was ‘How do I know that both of my laptop’s slots are filled up?’ Well to clarify that I researched a bit on the net and found out a website that will tell you if both of

Hiding a file inside a JPEG file 2007-08-01 22:37:09 Here is a handy tip that might be useful to you in case you want to hide a secret file of yours inside
a .JPEG file.
You will need to use some basic DOS commands for this process.
Consider you have a secret file documents.zip and you need to keep it safe from others or might be some other reason. Lets assume that the file is in the directory D: . Place any picture file in the same directory where secret file is. Go on to command prompt where the secret file is. Let me assume the name of the picture file is sample.jpg. Then in the command prompt enter the following command.
copy /b sample.jpg+documents.zip success.jpg.
In the execution of above commands, the documents.zip and sample.jpg file will be copied into success.jpg(optional : Delete both the documents.zip and sample.jpg file). In clicking the above success.jpg file, only the picture of sample.jpg will be shown and the file will not be known to the users.

Thinner, lighter PSP set for September 2007-08-04 01:19:14 A new PlayStation Portable was widely expected during Sony’s E3 press conference today; the only question was how new it would be. The answer? It’s thinner and lighter
all right, but otherwise pretty much the same. Bummer. Set for release in September
, the new PSP will reportedly be 33 percent lighter and 19 percent slimmer than the original, and it will also boast longer battery life and shorter load times—a development that should come as a relief to PSP gamers who’ve been suffering through lengthy pauses during games. You’ll also get a TV-out port for watching your games on a bigger screen, support for UMD movie discs, and a choice of three colors: the standard “piano black,” “ice silver,” and a white, “Star Wars”-themed variation. Otherwise, the revamped PSP comes with the same 4.3-inch display and more or less the same controls. Not bad, but not exactly the extreme makeover that many were hoping for. A simple magnet can change a liquids color 2007-08-04 01:14:59
(Nanowerk News) University of California, Riverside nanotechnologists have succeeded in controlling the color of very small particles of iron oxide suspended in water simply by applying an external magnetic field to the solution. The discovery has potential to greatly improve the quality and size of electronic display screens and to enable the manufacture of products such as erasable and rewritable electronic paper and ink that can change color eletromagnetically.
In their experiments, the researchers found that by changing the strength of the magnetic field they were able to change the color of the iron oxide solution – similar to adjusting the color of a television screen image.
Image shows the solution of iron oxide in water changing color under a magnetic field, with increasing strength of the field from left to right. (Image: Yin laboratory, UCR)
When the strength of the magnetic field is changed, it alters the arrangement of the spherical iron oxide particles in solu
