Microsoft to see higher XP sales in ‘08
2007-08-12 05:26:45
Hmm, I wonder why? No, I dont wonder why. I know exactly why. Vista is shit. Ill put it simple and a little vulgar. Vista wasn’t ready for market when it was launched. It’s still not ready now and it wont be ready for another six months. Why? It’s buggy, it’s slow (even on beefier machines) and this ‘VISTA ONLY’ game fiasco is really bad. XP sales will be higher because XP has what most users want. Stability. It’s stable. It rarely crashes, and it’s compatible with almost anything. It’s as easy as pie. The saying ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ applies here. Consumers want something that works, not something that will work. They want it now. They want it working. Vista still has a way to go in my eyes. I used it for a whole one month before uninstalling it. It didnt run some of my apps and games. It was severly slow despite me having 2gb or RAM and a kickass CPU. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if VISTA never takes off and XP stays on geek’s PC’s.

It was brought to my attention that AOL looks strikingly similar to Yahoo .com. Take a look for yourself. AOL Yahoo Copying a terribly cluttered design. Great. Why doesn’t everyone just copy google’s page and just have a search bar. If i want news, I’ll go to a news site.

8 Tips on How to Get Out of Bed even When You Don’t Want To
2007-08-10 06:26:33
Although there are those lucky few who wake up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to rocket out of bed and start their day, most people need a little bit of help taking those first few steps at the start of a new day. If you are one of those people, read this list of 8 tips on how to get out of bed and you’ll be amazed at how much actual control you have over those first few minutes of consciousness when you first wake up. 1) Give yourself a mental command before you go to sleep. This can take whatever form you like, but it would go something like this: “I will wake up at 5:00am and get out of bed immediately.” Seem simplistic? It is, which is why it is so effective. By implanting a mental command into your head before you go to sleep, you prepare yourself to be mentally alert the moment that you wake up. I have successfully used this technique for getting up to catch flights or to go on early morning road trips on less than 2 hours of sleep - without even using an a

AIST develops 3D image projector
2007-08-16 05:18:50
Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) has developed a device that uses lasers to project real three-dimensional images in mid-air. The institute unveiled the device on February 7 in a demonstration that showed off the device’s ability to project three-dimensional shapes of white light. AIST developed the projector with the cooperation of Keio University and Burton Inc. (Kawasaki, Japan). Until now, projected three-dimensional imagery has been “artificial” — optical illusions that appear 3D due to the parallax difference between the eyes of the observer. Prolonged viewing of this conventional sort of 3D imagery can cause physical discomfort. The newly developed device, however, creates “real” 3D images by using laser light, which is focused through a lens at points in space above the device, to create plasma emissions from the nitrogen and oxygen in the air at the point of focus. Because plasma emission continues for a short period

If your DAD is a Chemistry Professer

A DIALOGUE WITH SARAH, AGED 3: IN WHICH IT IS SHOWN THAT IF YOUR DAD IS A CHEMISTRY PROFESSOR, ASKING “WHY” CAN BE DANGEROUS. SARAH: Daddy, were you in the shower? DAD: Yes, I was in the shower. SARAH: Why? DAD: I was dirty. The shower gets me clean. SARAH: Why? DAD: Why does the shower get me clean? SARAH: Yes. DAD: Because the water washes the dirt away when I use soap. SARAH: Why? DAD: Why do I use soap? SARAH: Yes. DAD: Because the soap grabs the dirt and lets the water wash it off. SARAH: Why? DAD: Why does the soap grab the dirt? SARAH: Yes. DAD: Because soap is a surfactant. SARAH: Why? DAD: Why is soap a surfactant? SARAH: Yes. DAD: That is an EXCELLENT question. Soap is a surfactant because it forms water-soluble micelles that trap the otherwise insoluble dirt and oil particles. SARAH: Why? DAD: Why does soap form micelles? SARAH: Yes. DAD: Soap molecules are long chains with a polar, hydrophilic head and a non-polar, hydrophobic tail. Can you say ‘hydrophilic’? SARA

Computer Sayings –>

There are two ways to write error-free programs; only the third one works. A printer consists of three main parts: the case, the jammed paper tray and the blinking red light. The programmer’s national anthem is ‘AAAAAAAARRRRGHHHHH!!’. At the source of every error which is blamed on the computer, you will find at least two human errors, including the error of blaming it on the computer. Beta. Software undergoes beta testing shortly before it’s released. Beta is Latin for “still doesn’t work.” Computer analyst to programmer: “You start coding. I’ll go find out what they want.” Computer Science: solving today’s problems tomorrow. Hidden DOS secret: add BUGS=OFF to your CONFIG.SYS Hit any user to continue. I wish life had an UNDO function. If your computer says, “Printer out of Paper,” this problem cannot be resolved by continuously clicking the “OK” button. It said “Insert disk 3…&rdquo

20 Things You Didn’t Know About…Leonardo da Vinci
2007-09-27 09:31:31
1 Leonardo was the love child of Caterina, a peasant, and Ser Piero, a lawyer and landlord. He was home schooled and lacked a formal education in Greek and Latin. 2 He was an accomplished lyre player. When he was first presented at the Milanese court, it was as a musician, not an artist or inventor. 3 Leonardo narrowly beat a sodomy rap—possibly involving one of his male models—brought against him by Florentine officials. 4 Mona Lisa theory #1: Her smile means she was secretly pregnant. 5 Theory #2: She was amused by the musicians and clowns who entertained her while Leonardo painted her. (Another theory says the Mona Lisa is a portrait of Leonardo himself, slyly disguised. But you’d heard that one before, hadn’t you?) 6 Columbia University art historian James Beck retorts, “As sure as the moon is not made of green cheese, this is not da Vinci in drag.” 7 Then again, unusual for a painter, Leonardo left no definitive image of himself. 8 Of cour

13 Things Every Internet User should know
2007-09-24 09:27:02
1. Bill Gates is not giving you $1000, and Disney is not giving you a free vacation, no one is giving away cases of free M & M’s, the GAP is not giving away clothing. There is no baby food company issuing class-action checks. MTV will not give you backstage passes if you forward something to the most people. You can relax; there is no need to pass it on “just in case it’s true.” Furthermore, just because someone said in the message, four generations back, that “we checked it out and it’s legit,” does not actually make it true. 2. There is no kidney theft ring in New Orleans. No one is waking up in a bathtub full of ice, even if a friend of a friend swears it happened to their cousin. If you are hell-bent on believing the kidney-theft ring stories, please see: http://urbanlegends.tqn.com/library/weekly/aa062997.htm And I quote: “The National Kidney Foundation has repeatedly issued requests for actual

$100 Laptop to sell in public
2007-09-24 09:23:06
Computer enthusiasts in the developed world will soon be able to get their hands on the so-called “$100 laptop”. The organization behind the project has launched the “give one, get one” scheme that will allow US residents to purchase two laptops for $399 (£198). One laptop will be sent to the buyer whilst a child in the developing world will receive the second machine The G1G1 scheme, as it is known, will offer the laptops for just two weeks, starting on the 12 November. The offer to the general public comes after the project’s founder admitted that concrete orders from the governments of developing nations had not always followed verbal agreements Nicholas Negroponte told the New York Times: “I have to some degree underestimated the difference between shaking the hand of a head of state and having a cheque written. “And yes, it has been a disappointment.&rdqu

Windows Vista vs. Windows XP – Definitely Vista!
2007-09-18 08:27:58
As far as Microsoft is concerned there is only one choice possible in terms of desktop clients. But Windows Vista is also the clear option over Windows XP when it comes down to the Redmond company’s preferred operating system for mobile PCs. One of the most important aspects of large scale deployments of operating systems is related to costs. But of course that the licenses necessary to deploy the platform are merely the initial part of the financial resources associated with the deployment and management processes, following the installation. And in this context, it all comes down to the Total Cost of Ownership. Wipro Technologies and GCR Custom Research performed a Microsoft commissioned survey on Mobile PC Total Cost of Ownership, contrasting Windows Vista to Windows XP. Microsoft has applauded Vista as a beneficial factor when introduced into a corporate infrastructure and the “Reducing TCO with Windows Vista - Quantified Savings for Mobile PCs” survey does nothin

Top Ten Numbers 14328972341243
2007-09-18 08:20:39
In the tradition of David Letterman, Sesame Street, and bloggers all over the globe, Mendeaux proudly presents: The Top Ten Numbers of All Time Number 10… Ten. 10 makes the list because it is actually the first number with more than one digit. However, it doesn’t appear higher on this list because it is the basis for the metric system - a system of measurement that is so simple it causes American students to bleed out of their ears trying to figure it out. Number 9... Nine. 9 is on this list mostly out of sympathy. There really isn’t much you can say about it, other than if you turn it upside down you get a 6, which is a much cooler number. Number 8… Eight. 8 is a really cool number. Its sleek symmetrical design makes it a favorite of people everywhere. Place it on its side and it’s a symbol meaning infinity. How cool is that? Number 7… Seven. 7 is widely regarded as the perfect number. It also plays a role in the title of one of the greatest television shows of all time,
