Lincoln’s assassination
2008-04-14 17:04:00
143 years ago today, on April 14, 1865, at approximately 10 p.m., President Abraham Lincoln was shot and mortally wounded by John Wilkes Booth, an actor and Confederate sympathizer, while attending a performance of the comedy “Our American Cousin”, at Ford's Theatre, in the nation’s capital. He died the following day."I leave you, hoping that the lamp of liberty will burn in your bosoms until there shall no longer be a doubt that all men are created free and equal." (Speech at Chicago, Illinois - July 10, 1858.)

Have a blessed weekend

EARTH DAY 2008
2008-04-21 17:23:00
Will you teach your children what we have taught our children? That the Earth is our mother? What befalls the Earth befalls all the sons of the Earth. The Earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the Earth. Every part of the earth is sacred to my people. Every shining pine needle, every sandy shore, every mist in the dark woods, every meadow, every humming insect. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself. One thing we know: our God is also your God. The Earth is precious to Him and to harm the Earth is to heap contempt on its creator. (Native American wisdom - Chief Seattle)I believe this is the most appropriate song to go with today's post:Listen to "What

The Chernobyl catastrophe
2008-04-28 17:29:00
(Watch this great Greenpeace video on Chernobyl )Twenty-two years ago today, on 28 April 1986, the Soviet Union acknowledged there had been an accident at the Chernobyl V.I. Lenin Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, two days after reactor number four exploded and released thirty to forty times the radioactivity of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We all know the consequences of what followed. Chernobyl should never be wiped from human memory!

HAPPY WORKERS’ DAY!
2008-05-01 08:43:00
As a worker, a citizen (of the world) and a human being, I am really disappointed and fed up with incompetent politicians, their policies, retoric and lack of vision, recurrently taking the role of the despicable and unscrupulous Sheriff of Nottingham, stealing from the poor to line the pockets of the rich.I strongly believe we will soon be needing a Robin Hood type figure to help us survive.

WINDS OF CHANGE
2008-11-05 08:58:00
It's with satisfaction that I, Cochise, write here, in APACHE, that BARAK OBAMA is the new President of United States of America. I confess he was my favourite candidate. I hope he’ll become a good president and nation leader, better than his antecessor. May the Light of The Great Spirit shine upon him.
