Feely in, Mare out 2007-03-09 04:32:00 Miami inked former Giants kicker Jay Feely to a 3 -year contract today and that will mean that Olindo Mare will be given the boot. (Horrible, horrible pun was intended)Besides signing Feely, the team also resigned veteran defensive tackle Keith Traylor and safety Cameron Worrell. It also appears that Chris Chambers' job is safe for next season. With Randy McMichael getting released, you had to wonder about Chambers' position with the team. McMichael had a better season and his cap hit was going to be less, but the team decided to stick with Chambers.Add the (relatively) high cap number to the fact that Chambers was statistically the worst wide-receiver last season according to Football Outsider stats, you get two solid reasons for sacking him like Drew Bledsoe. But still, I'm happy that he will stay with the team for now.Chambers sucked last year, but he still is one of the most talented receivers in the league and I want to see what he can do in Cameron's offense. You got to think
Inter and Valencia throw fisticuffs 2007-03-09 04:30:00 If you ever needed more proof that soccer fights are the most pathetic in all of sports, well here you go. During yesterday's Champions League game between Inter
Milan and Valencia
, some of the players decided to hug a little, rub each other awkwardly and then run around and play game of tag.My mother throws down harder than that and she suffers from hernia's and sore feet. I imagine that if Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh would fight that it would have more action than that. Phil would have the disadvantage of his massive man-tits slowing him down, giving Vijay ample opportunity to whale away on his kidneys with a six iron. But yes, there was also some good stuff happening on the field yesterday. Roma's Alessandro Mancini scored an amazing goal after he used the Olympique Lyon defender like a porn star in a cheap snuff movie. That guy probably had some sort of concussion after Mancini was done with him. I'm surprised he didn't dislocate his hip....
Carl Pavano knows his priorities 2007-03-12 03:59:00 Yankees pitcher Carl Pavano missed his spring training start last friday because he had to be with his sick girlfriend. Pavano didn't go into details but he did say that she was doing well, again which is good to hear. "The reason I left, my girlfriend had a severe medical condition and I had to be with her," Pavano said.Pavano's girlfriend by the way is Gia Allenmand, a beauty queen that recently was profiled in Maxim magazine.Well, if I was Pavano, I would just nevermind this whole pitching thing and I'd just spend my days plowing her into oblivion. I'd have severe back problems from all the violent thrusting motions that I'd be doing. I imagine that Mulder and Scully would need to come and take a look after I'd be done with her....Mulder : "It appears that he entered her with his heel."Scully : "I think it gave her severe whiplash..."Mulder : "This is by far the most disturbing thing I've ever seen, and believe me, I've seen some crazy shit in my day." Time for random Bob Wickman facts 2007-03-12 03:57:00 If you look up the word awesome in the dictionary, you will find a picture of Bob Wickman kicking the crap out of Tyler Yates . On a scale of 1 to 10, Wickman is a 27.After the Braves started out horribly last season and basically had no hopes of making the play-offs, they aquired Wickman and he almost singlehandedly drove the team into the postseason by saving 53 games, batting .412 and driving in 93 runs. He put up those numbers despite only playing in 28 games for the Braves..Now, here are some random Bob Wickman facts
that you might not knowBob Wickman started his career with the New York Yankees. It was the only time the New York Yankees ever mattered. After the strike ended the season in 1994, Bob Wickman got bored and decided to play some football. He drop kicked Steve Young in his chest, hid Young in his basement and posed as him during the regular season and play-offs. It Should come as no surprise that the San Francisco 49ers dominated the Super Bowl behind Wickman's record 6
Just a quick recap; VCU, you are my heroes! 2007-03-16 17:41:00 Before the second day of the NCAA Tournament begins, I thought I would do a quick recap on how i'm doing with my picks. I did about 115 different brackets and most of which are in crisis mode, so to speak. I had, in a lot of them, Oral Roberts not only beating Wazzu in the first round but I had them winning the second round game as well. Another upset that I thought would happen is ODU over Butler, obviously I neglected to take into fact Butler's superior 3-point shooting and it proved to be ODU's downfall as they hit just 4-20 from the arc and Butler hit 9-24. But with that said, as of right now I am 14-3 and i'm doing quite well if I do say so myself. Now this wasn't the most exciting games that we have seen, well until the later games started. In my opinion the two best games were VCU-Duke and Xavier-BYU. Both games came down to the last possession and were back and forth for there entirety. There were a lot of players that stepped up Thursday but the three that stood out the mo Read more:heroes

, but I have asked Davey to do them, and I will fix the order when he's finished...now onto the Awesomeness that is the Bengals...ROAR!!!...(yeah, I don't know why I decided to do that, that's probably one of those things that sound better in my head)2006 season: 8-8Head Coach: Marvin LewisOffensive Coordinator: Bob BratkowskiDefensive Coordinator:Chuck BresnahanPro-Bowl: Carson Palmer(QB), Chad Johnson(QB) and Willie Anderson(OT)Offense:The Cincinnati
Bengal's offense was great yet again this season. They were ranked 8th in total offense and 6th in passing yards per game. After returning from a torn ACL in the first game of the playoffs the season before, Carson Palmer looked to rebound, and rebound he did. He threw for 4,035 yards, which was a career high, he threw 28 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. And for those impressive numbers he put up he was rewarded with a trip to Hawaii at the season's end. I have failed over and over, yet I try again. 2007-03-16 17:40:00 I have decided to join a fantasy baseball league although I did miserably in both football and basketball, yet something keeps me going, sorta like the President when he makes his speeches. Any who, the draft was held today, and I have to say, I am quit happy with my team, that is until they all mysteriously develop smallpox and can no longer take the field leaving me with Pete Orr, Ricky Henderson and Jimmy Gobble for my team.Anyways, here is my team, don't be to cruel with your criticism.Position PlayersCatcher: Ivan Rodriguez (DET)1st Base: Adam LaRoche (PIT)2nd Base: Josh Barfield (CLE)Short Stop: Jose Reyes (NYM) ...Bobby Cox frowns upon my decision to take a Met and frankly, I don't blame him.3rd Base: Chipper Jones (ATL)...there, there all better, I took a Brave and not just any Brave but my favorite player.Outfield: Vernon Wells (TOR)Outfield: Delmon Young (TB)Outfield: Craig Monroe (DET)PitchersCarlos Zambrano SP (CHC)Cole Hamels SP (PHI)Rich Harden SP (OAK)Chuck James SP (A

Baltimore? Whatcha talkin bout Willis? 2007-03-16 17:38:00 Just moments ago, the Baltimore
Ravens acquired runningback, Willis
McGahee in exchange for 2007 3rd and 7th round draft picks and 2008 3rd round draft pick. The Bills reportedly traded McGahee over a contract dispute, McGahee wanted an extension before the year started and Buffalo wasn't willing to provide him with that quite yet. McGahee has $2.155 remaining and 1 year left on his current contract and league sources say McGahee and the Ravens have already began discussions on an extension.McGahee was very public with his trade demand, and it was widely thought that he would be dealt to the New York Giants who had shown keen interest in the former first-round selection. Baltimore was late to the party so-to-speak, they had wanted to try and re-sign Jamal Lewis but he signed with Cleveland last night and without anyone who could shoulder the load on their current roster, Baltimore quickly pulled the trigger before anyone else could make a serious offer.Buffalo's 1st-round pick out of
Big Names getting Big Deals pt. 4 2007-03-16 17:38:00 The Seahawks have to re-write history in order to sign Grant. The Seattle Seahawks were content on not losing out on another highly touted free agent, and they were willing to pay in order to secure safety Deon Grant. The Seahawks and Grant agreed to a 6-year $30 million deal and included into the deal is a signing bonus that is certainly going to raise some eyebrows because it is being reported to have topped the $11.1 million given to Dallas Cowboy's safety, Roy Williams. If in deed it is higher than that then it would be the highest signing bonus given to a safety in NFL history.Deon Grant is very athletic and durable, he has started in 96 consecutive games. He is also a very good coverage safety that will surely upgrade the Seahawks dismal secondary. The 6'2" 210 pound safety registered 60 tackles last season and 2 interceptions. The Rams sign one of the best tight ends in football; and I find another reason to hate them. The St.Louis Rams have agreed to terms with recently released Read more:Names

Torn side muscle looks to sideline Hampton for months. 2007-03-16 17:37:00 During his third and final session of batting practice Wednesday, Mike Hampton
swung and then dropped to his knees in pain. Hampton is just now finishing his 18 month recovery from Tommy John surgery that caused him to miss the whole 2006 season and the end of the 2005 season and now he is expected to miss at least a month or more with an apparent torn side muscle
, most likely an oblique."The sad thing is he was feeling great the last two times - he felt normal," manager Bobby Cox said. "This is going to set him back quite a ways."Exactly how long Cox didn't want to speculate. "It'll be a while," he said. "He was just getting his arm strength back to normal and now he's not going to be able to throw at all," said Cox, meaning when Hampton's side heals he'll have to start over again to get his arm in pitching shape.Hampton left Braves camp on Thursday morning to see Braves team orthopedist Norton Baker in Orlando.Hampton was expected to be the Braves 3rd or 4th started this year an
Another quick update on the NCAA Tournament. 2007-03-20 16:02:00 So last time I checked in on how I was doing with my projections I was doing quite well with a record of 14-3 and although that was good, my other 114 brackets were struggling mightily, kind of like a new born giraffe trying to walk for the first time.I believe at one point I was 4% right in a bracket I submitted to ESPN. Pitiful, I know. But in the predictions I submitted on here I am still doing pretty well, at this point I have a record of 34-15 going into the Sweet Sixteen.I don't know, maybe it's just me, but this year's March Madness hasn't been as exciting as it has been. That is probably due to the fact that their are no lower seeds competing still. The highest seed that remains is UNLV, who is a 7 seed. There has been games that have been exciting and everything but as a whole, this year's tournament hasn't really been as fun with out all the major upsets that we have all become accustomed to. Both games that VCU played were down to the wire, had huge comebacks and had m Read more:Tournament
Personally I prefer to throw down at the craps tables, buy hey, that's just me. 2007-03-20 16:01:00 Late Sunday night at the Palms casino and resort in Las Vegas, newly signed Miami Dolphins outside linebacker, Joey Porter, got into a bit of a scuffle with Cincinnati Bengal's offensive tackle, Levi Jones."A fist fight between two NFL players broke out in the Palms casino on Sunday night, sources said. Joey Porter, an All-Pro linebacker who recently left the Pittsburgh Steelers to join the Miami Dolphins, brawled with Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Levi Jones, at about 6 p.m. at a blackjack table in the casino.Jones, who suffered scratches, told Las Vegas police he would be filing charges against Porter. Sources said there has been bad blood between the two."First of all, what kind of fight ends with just scratches? And second of all, a Cincinnati Bengal was in a fight, police were called and charges are being filed AND it's not against a Bengal? Wow.Oh and I read this gem over at the NFL Fanhouse,"According to a Vegas TV station, you don't get cited in Vegas for a fight unle
Tennessee Titans (8-8) 2007-03-20 16:01:00 2006 season: 8-8Head Coach: Jeff FisherOffensive Coordinator: Norm ChowDefensive Coordinator: Jim SchwartzPro-Bowl: Vince Young(QB)OffenseIt took three games for Jeff Fisher to hand the starting quarterback job to rookie Vince Young and by Young's performance, he was three games too late. Not only did Young receive a selection to the Pro-Bowl he also was named the offensive rookie of the year. Young threw for 2,199 yards, 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions and he also rushed for 552 yards and 7 rushing touchdowns. Not necessarily "Pro-Bowl" worthy numbers but when you take into consideration where this team was before he took over the reins and the talent level and how they finished, then you could start to understand selection. Young was a huge reason, if not 100% of the reason why this team went from 0-5 and dead in the water to a playoff contender. Travis Henry emerged as the premiere back in the Music City, gaining 1,211 yards and 7 touchdowns on the ground. This had been his firs Read more:Tennessee

Virginia "Fucking" Tech....I am amazed yet again. 2007-03-20 16:00:00 I can't say much, because I had 7 heart attacks during the final 5 minutes or so of the Hokies game and I have to go to the hospital...the Hokies came back after being down 13 to one of the best defenses in the Nation and we did it....WE WON!!! Deron Washington is my new hero, he did it all. He perfectly executed the full-court press and forced Illinois into about 170 turnovers, he came up with the game winning shot and he has some sweet hair. Damn, that was nerve racking, but we did, that's all that matters, Great win against a tough team. Oh and fuck Brian Randle...Hokies win 54-52! 10 Things I think I thougt while getting my colonic 2007-03-20 01:00:00 Another Monday, another Peter King column that's filled with strange shit (disgusting pun was not intended but it's amusing me anyways). Anyways, here's some of that incoherent rambling...a. I want to be Ron Lewis when I grow up.b. You know Ron? He's the ice-water-in-the-veins Ohio State Buckeye whose 28-foot, two-hands-in-his-face 3-pointer with two seconds left sent OSU's game with Xavier into overtime. That's the guy you want up with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth in the World Series.Maybe I'm weird but I'd rather have a professional baseball player at the plate during the World Series. Joey Porter is in the news again 2007-03-20 00:59:00 I was hoping that Joey Porter
would save his violent antics for J.P. Losman's ribcage but I guess he just could not wait 'till the start of the regular season. Porter punched Bengals offensive lineman Levi Jones in the face at a Vegas blackjack table and got cited for misdemeanor battery after Jones was left with some scratches.Turns out that the only way you get cited in Vegas is if a police offer actually sees you fight. Now, that makes me wonder 2 things. How do you actually find a cop in Vegas, and how does a fight between such large men end up with only scratches?I was going to make a Cat Woman joke, but Jay already beat me to it and his photoshop work is a lot better than anything I could ever make. This is what I made....Yes, that animation is childish, awkward and unprofessional, much like this blog. I tried to made it look as if they're fighting but it looks like they're either caressing each gently other or playing rock-paper-scissors. And don't ask me why Levi has that Read more:Joey Porter
Horrible video of the day 2007-03-20 00:57:00 I usually don't have any reason whatsoever to post about the Kansas City Royals but I spotted this over at the MLB Fanhouse and it pretty much just ruined my day. Whoever came up with the idea for that clip needs to get impaled in the chest with a rusty trident. It made absolutely no sense and the music ended up giving me some sort of inner ear infection.I guess the point was to show that Royal fans really love their team but that's the equivalent of saying that you love to chew on broken glass all day long. I mean, that shit is just not true. But eventhough the clip sucks, I will give kudos to that very sharp looking fellow who got more poon in those 30 seconds than I got in quite some time. Texans release Carr, clear path for Miami 2007-03-24 17:32:00 The Houston Texans
released David Carr yesterday, just a day after acquiring Matt Schaub from the Falcons. I find it odd that Houston released him considering the fact that they could've traded him and at least have gotten something in return, but yeah, it's the Texans we're talking about so you have to ignore conventional wisdom. With Carr on the market, I'm hoping that the Dolphins make a move and pick him up. Miami
has been interested in acquiring Trent Green but I'm not really a big fan of 37 year old quarterbacks with concussion problems. Wasting draft picks, albeit late round picks on him would be very stupid in my opinion. In between trading for Green, signing Carr and hoping for Brady Quinn, I think getting Carr would be the best move. If you've read some of my previous posts, you'll know that I've been hoping for Brady Quinn to be there when Miami picks at # 9, but a lot of things would have to go right for that situation to play out. Quinn will probably be gone after th
The ripple effect of the Matt Schaub trade 2007-03-24 17:31:00 The big news yesterday was that the Houston Texans acquired Qb Matt Schaub from the Atlanta Falcons. To get Schaub, the Texans gave up their second rounder in this year's draft, their second rounder in 2008 and they also swapped positions with Atlanta in the first round. This trade has some big implications for various teams come draft time and I'm going to throw around some possibilities on how things might go down from here on out.First off, Houston is investing a lot in Schaub. They're giving up 2 second rounders, dropping 2 slots in the first round, and gave him a 6-year, 48 million dollar contract. That's a lot for a guy who hasn't done much yet in this league. So far in his career, he has started 2 games, lost both and has 6 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Not very impressive. What this also means is that Houston will probably cut or try to trade David Carr. I think that Carr gets too much blame for the struggles of the Texans and I want to see what he can do when he's surr Read more:effect
Jacksonville Jaguars Season Review 2007-03-24 17:28:00 Jay has asked me to chip in again with his NFL team reviews and now it's my turn to take a stab at the Jacksonville Jaguars. So brace yourself...2006 season : 8-8Head Coach : Jack Del RioOffensive Coordinator : Mike TiceDefensive Coordinator : Mike SmithPro-Bowl : Rasheen MathisOffenseIf you try to make any sense of the 2006 season of the Jags, you will end up bleeding from your retina and muttering jibberish. The team finished 9th in the NFL in total points scored, they got to atleast 30 points in 5 of their games, yet they lost twice against Houston while scoring 7 and 10 points respectively in those games. It was inconsistency like that that led to an 8-8 record. The big problem on offense was at quarterback. Byron Leftwich played in only 6 games before getting hurt again which meant that backup David Garrard got a lot of playing time. Garrard appeared in 11 games, totaling 1735 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. In Leftwich's 6 starts, he put up 1157 passing yards, Read more:Season

My Baseball predictions. 2007-04-02 17:25:00 With the 2007 baseball season kicking off tomorrow night, I have decided to do the same as my boii Davey and post my baseball predictions. Last season, well before I started this blog, I picked my Atlanta Braves to win the World Series over the New York Yankees. And well that worked out about as well as Norbit did at making me laugh. Obviously seeing how Norbit sucked donkey balls, my picks didn't quite work out. The Braves streak of 14 straight Division Championships snapped as they went 79-83 and finished third in the East thanks to a horrid bullpen. The New York Yankees on the other hand finished 97-65 and won the AL East but were knocked out of the playoffs by the Detroit Tigers. Well, here you go, my predictions.NL East:1.Atlanta Braves2.New York Mets3.Philadelphia Phillies4.Florida Marlins5.Washington NationalsYes, yes, I am a homer and I love every bit of it. Last year, the biggest reason why we didn't at least win the wild card is because of our abysmal bullpen. We didn't ha
Denver Broncos (9-7) 2007-04-02 17:25:00 2006 season: 9-7Head Coach: Mike ShanahanOffensive Coordinator: Rick DennisonDefensive Coordinator: Bob SlowikPro-Bowl: Champ Bailey(CB), Al Wilson(ILB) and John Lynch(S)OffenseThe Denver
Broncos offense was average yet again this season ranking 21st overall and averaging 19.9 points per game. The Broncos running game was great much like it has been for the last decade, ranking 8th overall and gaining 134.5 per game. Now the passing game on the other hand was in the bottom third in the league, the Broncos averaged just 174.9 passing yards per game. Part of that was the quarterback switch a little over midway through the season. Denver hasn't been satisfied with veteran Jake Plummer for a few years now and after throwing for 1,994 yards, 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions they finally pulled the plug and handed the job over to rookie quarterback Jay Cutler. In the five games Cutler started last season he threw for 1,001 yards, 9 touchdowns and 5 touchdowns. And his quarterback rating w
Can the Florida Gators repeat? 2007-04-02 17:25:00 With the National Championship game just hours from the tip off, the headlines are just piling in. Can the Gators
repeat? Will this be Greg Oden's final collegiate game? Will Billy Donovan leave Florida
for the job at Kentucky? If you were to ask ten people who they would take, i'm sure about 9 of them would take the Gators and rightfully so. The Gators and Buckeyes have played once already this year and Florida destroyed OSU, 86-60 back in late December. But it should be noted that when the two teams matched up, Freshman superstar, Greg Oden, was only playing in his 5th game(4th start). So the notation that he was still adjusting to the College game and seeing how Florida was his first "major" competition it's pretty easy to see why he struggled against Florida's Twin Towers, Joakim Noah and Al Horford. But with that said, i'm sure if you ask any of the Buckeye's, including head coach, Thad Matta, they would not make excuses, but simply say the better team won that day.Things ha Read more:Florida Gators
Frank Gore is getting paid, signs a 4-year extension. 2007-04-02 17:24:00 The San Francisco 49ers and runningback, Frank
Gore, have agreed to a 4-year extension. In total the deal is a 5-year $28 million(he had 1 year left on his original contract). This deal comes after Frank Gore's outstanding season where he rushed for 1,650 yards and 1 touchdown. He also caught 61 balls for 485 yards and 1 touchdown. The former Miami Hurricane standout has proven to be one of the biggest steals in the draft after being selected in the 3rd round in 2003 because of a blown out knee. And after being the backup last season to Kevan Barlow, he was rewarded with the starting job this season and promptly led the NFC in rushing yards. From ESPN.com,ESPN.com has learned that the 49ers reached agreement with Gore on a four-year contract extension through 2011, with the deal averaging just shy of $7 million in terms of so-called "new money." Gore will receive an initial signing bonus of $6.5 million and total guarantees of nearly $14 million. The contract will pay Gore $13.862 mill Read more:signs
I'm surprised he was able to wait this long. 2007-04-02 17:23:00 If you haven't heard, the Cincinnati Bengal's wide receiver, Chris Henry, has run into more legal trouble after being cited for three traffic charges. The three charges were driving with a suspended license, making an illegal U-Turn and finally driving without a seatbelt. This is what, his 4th arrest in the last 14 months and he still has charges pending for who knows what. If this latest charge sticks, then Henry will certainly be looking at some jail time, about 88 days in a Kentucky prison. Henry was convicted of a giving alcohol to minors a couple of months ago and was sentenced to 90 days in prison but only served 2 days and the rest of his sentence he was put on probation. and the Kansas
City Royals completed a deal that would send Braves' infielder, Tony Pena Jr. in exchange for for the Royal's pitcher, Erik Cordier. Pena is an excellent defender that over the past few weeks has showed some pop in his bat. He will likely battle the Royal's current shortstop, Angel Berroa for the starting role. Erick Cordier is a hard throwing starter that can top 98 MPH, but has missed a lot of time due to injuries. He missed all of the 2005 season and then needed to have Tommy John surgery in 2006, but when he returns(Probably in 2008, to be safe) he has the potential to be a very good starter."With this deal, we acquire a real power arm," Braves general manager John Schuerholz said. Takeo Spikes traded to Philadelphia 2007-04-02 17:23:00 Takeo spikes has been quietly requesting a change of scenior and on Monday night he was granted his wish. The Buffalo Bills and the Philadelphia
Eagles have agreed to a trade that would send Bills linebacker, Takeo Spikes and quarterback, Kelly Holcomb to the the Eagles in exchange for defensive tackle, Darwin Walker and a 2008 draft pick(believed to be a late round selection)."This is something that has been brewing," Bills general manager Marv Levy told The Associated Press. "Takeo is a good person, but we wanted to strengthen our defensive tackle. They've been looking for a linebacker and I think they wanted an experienced backup quarterback."This is a great deal all around, the Bills had a glaring need at defensive tackle and the Eagles desperately needed a playmaking linebacker and the addition of a solid backup quarterback doesn't hurt either. Spikes is expected to replace Dhani Jones as a starter at strong side linebacker.
