Only down-side is the look of the site is a bit boring and doesn't stand out.NOT my favorite.Good-old fashion dumb fun. No, I mean that in a good way. There were some funny items here, but I feel like it was just some guy sending me forward emails. This blog is made up, and I'm open to being corrected, of other people's stuff. If I want to be amused by a list of other people's witty football quotes, I will do a Google search for them...sigh.Low points for just presenting other people's stuff and a wad of old jokes.I'm so tired of blogs that do nothing but list a bunch of jokes that have made the rounds by email 100 times already."Is it funny? Electric Writer 2007-08-26 10:56:00 Electric Writer
scored well for the author's writing ability, but the humor is so dry that it didn't appeal to many of our reviewers. Electric Writer also got dinged for the length of the posts. It is anything but. There was one post on the front page, and it was so long I had to force myself through it, and the only reason I did was that I was reviewing the blog. Long-winded and not that funny. Good grammar though. ;)The posts are funny, but a bit long for my liking.I was very impressed with the "vintage" look of this blog. And I loved the line "printed with GIFS that won't come off on your hands!" Very funny. Because I find dry wit and/or humor appealing, I enjoyed the blog very much. As one reviewer noted, "Although I do give the blog author major credit for regularly coming up with original cartoons from his viewpoint of the political landscape, I just didn't find them that funny." The Pop Eye 2007-09-24 21:09:00 G here again. Diesel said something about making a movie, I think. He promised me a bit part if I delivered a few batches of reviews. Totally plausible, wouldn't you agree? I think Vladmir (or whoever that tin guy is on his blog) is going to be in it.This week we're reviewing The Pop Eye, a blog that gets a bit of its fodder from the world of celebrity skewering. That well is pretty deep -- unlike many of the celebs being skewered -- so The Pop Eye has a wide net to cast. Although I think BeckEye, the blog author, is leaning towards musical topicality, she is not above a well placed post about reality TV or her disenchantment with Catcher in the Rye.The Pop Eye is nicely designed and although it may not quite qualify as a true humor blog, it is certainly written in a tongue-in-cheek style. I think that can be a problem when submitting oneself for review as a humor blog as the blog - your baby, which you have cuddled and loved and stayed up nights with and let sleep in your bed, it's
The Pretzel – Twisted News 2007-09-20 09:39:00 Hello Humor-bloggers. I've broken the Humor-blogs.com inner sanctum of editing reviews! I'm filling in for Diesel while he writes books from the roof of the house that he's building or splashing about in his fountain. Don't worry - no harm has come to him. I am in a unique position in that I am not actually a Humor-blogs.com member.Actually, I complained to Diesel several months back, "What's the deal - some of these blogs don't seem to be solely humor, some of my posts are funny...when I feel like it(WTF?). He quickly pointed out that I could indeed join the ranks, get reviewed and possibly get kicked to the curb. It was with visions of reviewers traipsing across my lawn with blood lust heavy in the air like the angry mob in Frankenstein, that my decision to decline his invite was delivered. Anyway, my blog is Simply Said where I go by just "G". Mischief 2007-09-13 10:43:00 Mischief is, in the words of one reviewer, "perfectly pleasant," but not terribly funny. I don't think the author of Mischief is necessarily trying to be laugh-out-loud funny most of the time, but of course that's a liability in a blog that's being reviewed as a "humor blog."CategoryScorePointsContent5.0836/70Writing6.583/5Web Design6.673/5Intangibles5.173/5Read Regularly2.52/10Frequency84/5Total51 Percentile Rank: 21Some quotes from our reviewers:I was a bit mortified to hear this blogger ridicule his prison inmate students re: state capitols. Magazine 13 2007-09-10 10:42:00 Magazine 13 fared pretty well with our reviewers. Over half of the reviewers mentioned problems with grammar, spelling or usage, however. Mental Meanderings of an Old Man 2007-09-30 20:35:00 Next up in the queue: Mental Meanderings of an Old Man
authored by Dave G of Manchester, Something Something, UK. Does that make you a Manchester United fan Dave? That wasn't made clear to me, but the fact that Dave is a fan of the ladies was. I think mainly by the post where now deceased friend Graham (this is the UK, there had to be a Graham) referred to him as a "dirty bugger".That aside, I started off not really enjoying Dave's blog. I don't know if it was the clutter mentioned by one of the reviewers below, some grammar slippage (also mentioned), or the fact that I first read the title as "Menstrual Meanderings..." which had an unpleasant if not confusing connotation for me. But by the time I settled in and got drawn into his yarns, I left feeling as if I'd just spent an afternoon at the pub with him quite enjoying his stories. Dave, I'll prepare you - scores weren't great. Mostly I think your blog suffered from the same fate as some of the others under the reviewers' scop
SpeedCat HollyDale Page 2007-10-07 09:48:00 I think it might be helpful at this juncture to provide a reminder in the form of a little background of HUMOR-BLOGS.COM's formation. It was indeed the result of the hyperactive imagination and attention span of Diesel, author and chief inspector of Mattress Police. He conceived of Humor-blogs.com as as a site listing humorous or funny blogs where one could go to get their laughs on as the name might imply. He had a guideline of what would qualify a blog as such and bloggers came a knocking. Then more bloggers wanted in and the gates were thrown open until even Edna St. Vincent Millay wanted in. Never mind that she's no longer alive. Not important. Our job is to find out if some of these bloggers are. With that in mind, Diesel then conceived of a review process to "rank" the blogs in order to weed out some of the less than humorous blogs. Of course humor, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. The system is not perfect, but it does allow for each of the blogs to be showcased and
Diaries of the Professor 2007-10-17 01:10:00 Wouldn't you know that I could not be more behind in well, just about all areas of my life right now, including but not limited to my posts here at Humor-blogs.com, and I have to turn in a review on a Professor's blog? Rather awkward. Anyway, I'll keep this brief because my life is falling apart. Okay, perhaps that's a tad dramatic - so the switchover from summer to winter clothes has hit a snag, I'm sure my family won't have to wear our bathing suits to work/school tomorrow (again). We are grading, sorry - reviewing Diaries
of the Professor (and he's keeping the name so too bad if you don't like it). I don't know but I like this guy. I bet he would be a great neighbor, co-worker, friend. Maybe that's not what we're reviewing but I also see a spark of understated humor in his writing that says there's more behind the closed barn door than he lets on. Well not that he mentioned any barns, but in any event...let's get on to what the reviewers have to say: CategoryScorePoint
I Can't Believe He's Still Single 2007-10-18 10:00:00 Hi, everybody. Diesel here again. I know, I know, you like G better. No surprise there.Anyway, I'll just do what I need to do and let myself out. Today's review actually dates from several weeks ago. I didn't post it then because the blog's author took the blog offline for a while for some personal reasons. It’s Just Jane 2007-10-29 22:20:00 In the interest of moving these reviews along, I'll be brief. This is Jane, just Jane of It's Just Jane and G whom she writes about...a lot.
