How to get indexed by Google in under 3 days
2007-07-19 00:06:03
Getting indexed by Google should be your #1 priority after starting your blog. It’s advisable that you have at least 10 posts before you think about submitting your site to Google. Now, with a little SEO and some very easy steps, I’ll show you how Daily Moolah dot Com got listed by Google between the 14th and 17th of July. Install the Wordpress Google Sitemaps plugin along with the All-in-one SEO Plugin Configure your Title, Meta Keywords, and write a short but keyword rich description about your site. Remember the description will show up underneath your URL on Google, so make sure it’s written for a ‘eyes’ and not for search robots Convert your permalinking structure to something static such as http://www.dailymoolah.com/2007/07/19/sample-post/ Make sure your image ‘alt’ tags are also keyword rich. Submit your site to Google by clicking here Finally submit your sitemap.xml to Google WebMaster Tools by clicking here Now write atleast one p

Profiling Canada’s Most Successful Bloggers
2007-07-18 22:52:09
BusinessWeek Magazine recently covered a story on “Bloggers Bring in the Big Bucks“, profiling some of the internet’s biggest and baddest bloggers. Boingboing, Shomoney, Problogger - You name it, the story was covered complete with revenue statistics and some nifty details on what these bloggers employ to gain their success. To the best of my knowledge, not a single Canadian blogger made the list. Perhaps the good folks at Business Week didn’t know of homegrown dot com moguls such as John Chow, who bring in over $12,000 monthly. But John isn’t the only Canadian blogging super-hero. I’m pleased to let you know I’ll be touching base very soon with someone very popular in the blogosphere. His success has sky rocketed in the last six months and his blog is certainly on my list of must-reads. Oh…He’s also within the Technorati Top 50 Who am I talking about? You’ll have to keep guessing :). Alternatively, do the right thing by sign

14 Forums to Build PR 3-7 Backlinks In Under an Hour
2007-07-17 04:01:13
Following up on my last post about sharing the link love, I acknowledged that getting quality backlinks are among the most tedious aspects of running a new blog. One way of doing this is to make sure your blog or site is cited in your signature links, for high page rank forums. Of course, you would have to manually find a list of forums that are both high in page rank, and allow a ‘rel= no nofollow’ tag. I’m here to take some of that tediousness away by giving you that list instead ;). Here we are : SitePoint Forums PR7 Digitalpoint PR6 Harmony-Central Forums PR6 Search Engine Round Table PR6 Submit Express Forums PR6 Start Ups PR6 v7n PR6 Webmaster Talk PR6 Comic Book Resources Forums PR5 Web Design Forum PR5 Earners Forum PR4 TriPHP Forums PR4 360 Gamerscore PR4 Ableton Forums PR3 Try to post as much as possible so that your signature is crawled over multiple pages. Then use a program such as Web CEO (Free) to analyze the back-link

The Importance of Link Love and Do-Follow Comments
2007-07-16 22:35:03
As a blog still very much in its infancy, Daily Moolah dot Com will need as much link love possible to rise up in its search engine rankings. SERP ratings are extremely important for all website owners because organic search traffic is free and plentiful. So how does a brand new blogger go about building their credibility in the blog world? For starters, share the link love to receive some in return. Contrary to popular opinion, Google will rank your infant blog with a higher Page Rank if you link externally to other respected websites of the same niche. But sharing link love isn’t just about SERP rankings - It’s about building a community around your blog. Think about it that for a second - Almost every blogger logs into their WordPress control panel at least once a day to check out who is linking to their content. By sharing external links that are both relevant and pertinent to your content, you are passively establishing a relationship with other well known blogs within

Sneaky Tactic To Boost SEO using Google Images
2007-07-16 14:18:15
SEO is an internet marketing topic that I hold very near and dear to my hear. These days I have dozens of self-professed SEO gurus on the net, peddling their secrets to better SERP rankings. While some of them are good, I’ve found Aaron Wall’s SEO book to be the only definitive and constantly updated resource with regard to improving one’s SEO. One way to phenomenally boost your SERP rankings is to use keyword branded images on your site. Here’s the quick and dirty way to go about it: Go to a site such as Google Images , Big Stock Photo, or iStockPhoto and download at least 3 images for each page you will display. Remember that most images will be copyrighted, so it’s always best to get Royalty free images. Once you have the image rename it to this format : ‘keyword1.gif‘, ‘keyword2.jpg‘ etc, to fit the keywords you are using in your post. Include the variations of the keywords in the image ‘alt‘ tags. This will ensure t

How To Hide Affiliate Links Using .htAccess
2007-07-15 22:54:11
What is htaccess?Htaccess is server directory configuration file. With htaccess, main server configuration can be partially overridden. It is usually in root of your site, and it can be added to other directories. Can be used for redirection, password protection, or to deny access to certain IP’s. Important info: .htaccess is a text file, use text editor (without wrapping), upload it using FTP text mode. After uploading, check is it working. If you get server error (500), something is wrong. Edit, fix and check again. How to hide affiliate links using htaccess Let’s say that you want to hide affiliate link or simply make shorter and better looking url. Edit htaccess and add this line: redirect 301 /affiliatedirectory http://YourAffiliate Url In above example, /affiliatedirectory could be anything, you don’t need to make directory with that name, just keep in mind, if that directory already exists, every page in that dir will be redirected to YourAffiliateUrl. 10 Adsense Keywords that Boost your ROI
2007-07-22 09:51:32
Last week, I covered a list of the 20 highest paying keywords that you can use on niche adsense monetized sites. Today, I’ll focus on a business concept we learn in the early on in university or college, that could boost your Adsense ROI through the roof. Put very simply, the money you make is a product of Revenue = # of clicks * cost per click. So you could bring in 10 clicks @ $1/click and make $10 a day, OR you could use lower paying, but highly searched keywords :). Here’s a list of the 10 most profitable Adsense keywords to boost your ROI: Keyword Cost Per Click Clicks/Day Cost/Day insurance $17.41 49,893.5 $868,645.81 hotels $3.52 200,636.0 $706,238.75 film $2.88 183,044.0 $527,166.75 home $3.89 102,282.5 $397,878.91 car $5.09 52,069.5 $265,033.75 schools $4.13 60,913.0 $251,570.69 acting $2.28 106,337.0 $242,448.36 credit $8.67 25,705.0 $222,862.34 cheap $2.71 82,139.5 $222,598.05 digital $1.70 130,607.0 $222,031.91 Of course, If you’re

A Simple Hack to Boost Wordpress Load Time
2007-07-21 11:04:09
Like most webmasters, I’m always trying to increase my blog’s loading speed. Currently, I am not satisfied as my load speed is not as fast it could be. Most of you should already have the WP-Cache plugin installed, and this should speed up things quite a bit. The next step would be to uninstall all the fluff plugins you don’t use. Here’s a quick hack to your wp-config.php file that should get things going faster Did you know Wordpress will try and cache all kinds of database queries as files on disk? It’s so simple. Just add the following to your wp-config.php: // Enable the WordPress Object Cache: define(ENABLE_CACHE, true); This can give a noticeable and immediate performance benefit. Less queries = less overhead and more CPU to go do other things. Leave a comment on whether this worked for you.

Google Analytics Bids Adieu to its Old Interface
2007-07-20 20:35:42
The good ol’ interface of Google analytics has disappeared forever. The old interface, which I was rather fond of was unavailable for use as of July 18th. The new completely ajaxified interface is sleek and sexy, with a very web 2.0′ish feel to it. Although very functional, the new analytics engine does not have features such as pinpoint geolocation like the old one did. I’d like to hear from all of you regarding your thoughts about the new interface, and whether you miss the old one

4 Reasons Why Good Bloggers Write Bad Posts
2007-07-25 01:47:29
Why say more when one can say less? Why be the same if you can dare to be different? All questions that should be on your mind when you’re about to write your next post. If don’t think about these questions already, it’s time to start doing so now. Here are some quick points you should always remember before pushing that ‘publish’ button: Ramble Ramble On and Your Vistors Shall be Gone: Good writing is much like poetry - it needs to flow. This is your cue to omit needless words, and start being as concise as possible in your posts. No one likes reading paragraphs that span pages, so why bother writing them? Is Your Content Scannable?: People read very differently on the internet than they do books. In fact, your readers are scanning your content for information, not reading it for leisure. So don’t write posts that make you think too hard when you are trying to read them for a good length of time and across several paragraphs, meant to have some pro

WordPress Link Love Plugin
2007-07-29 18:18:46
Are you having trouble getting backlinks within your niche? Text-Link-Ads budget a bit short? No worries, there’s always a WordPress plugin to fix your malady WP-Backlinks is a plugin that makes it easy to trade and manage your backlinks. There will be a form for other webmasters to fill out in your side navigation with their site details and and the url to the page that has a link to your site. Once the form is filled out WP-Backlinks will spider that page and make sure that they really did put a link to your site on that page. It will also log the Page Rank of that page. In the admin section you will have to approve any new links to be displayed on your site so that there aren’t any inappropriate links going on you site. You can set a limit of how many links to trade per page. The default is five. Here’s the math. If you have a site that has 1000 pages and you trade 5 links per page of your site that would be an additional 5000 incoming backlinks. Your pagerank and traf

Get Paid to Digg and Stumble
2007-07-28 15:02:15
If you’re anything like me, you’re probably using services such as Digg and Stumble Upon. For the uninitiated, Digg and StumbleUpon are two of the web’s biggest social media traffic drivers. For bloggers, these services mean BIG traffic, and added opportunities for link bait. But aside from our daily blogging lives, we’re also constantly rating content online if we see it as valuable. So if you’re digging and stumbling anyway, why not get paid for it? Enter Subvert & Profit - a website purely geared towards creating a market place for advertisers in need of diggs and stumbles, and social users such as you and I who are ready to provide diggs and stumbles…for a price of course . Each click you put towards a Digg or Stumble pays you $0.50. There is no better way to earn some quick change than to subscribe to Subvert & Profit, especially since there are no startup costs. Signing up to Subvert & Profit is free, and so are Digg and Stumble

How To Create 100 Free Backlinks In 5 Minutes Or Less
2007-08-01 21:13:17
Time for another sneaky tactic to boost your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) ratings Onlywire is an automated social bookmarking tool which has18 sites built in its content network. Setup is fairly easy and involves adding  a bookmarklet to your toolbar in Internet Explorer or Firefox. Click on the bookmarklet after visiting the site you wish to promote, and it will take you to Onlywire.  Onlywire takes the URL and the title information from the page. Feel free to modify the title, as that will be the anchor text linking to your site.  You then choose tags that describe the page you are bookmarking.  Onlywire has you separate tags by a space, so you need to cover all your bases when it comes to phrases.  I normally create one word with no spaces (affiliatemarketing) and separate with a hyphen (affiliate-marketing) to ensure proper coverage ( Each tag has its own page ).  That page will contain a link back to your site!  I recommend using 10 – 20 tags per bookmark to opti

Reviewing DclickAds
2007-08-01 19:08:47
This is a sponsored review of DClickAds. DClickAds is one of the newer players in the marketplace for buying and selling link ads. Publishers can sell their adspace in the form of banners, text links, or as embedded links in posts. They also claim to have “Direct Link Technology” which enables publishers to link directly to the advertiser’s site, although I don’t really see why this would be anything special. Site-wide link sales are common place among such providers, with most links sitting in the publisher blog’s sidebar. DclickAds does not have a contextual ad matching system, but instead, allows advertisers to choose publisher blogs from its directory. Any and all ad types are supported, but it is quite apparent that good publishers are few and far between, especially in the light of tough competition from services such at Text-Link-Ads. Thankfully though, service fees are lower than the outrageous 50% that TLA charges. DclickAds still has a long way t

I’m talking about backing up your blog, something that many of us forget to do on a daily basis. Of course, many may think this is unnecessary because plugins such as wp-backup are available, but the truth is that plugins slow down your blogs loading speed considerably with their background processes. So what am I trying to get at? Well, why backup up your blog by yourself, when someone else can do it for you? Enter BlogBackupOnline. This service, currently in BETA, will schedule daily automated backups of your blog hosted on pretty much any platform. Blogger, Wordpress, Friendster, Live Journal, TypePad, Windows Live Spaces, and Multiply are all supported for daily backups. The service comes with 50 mb of free storage and is definitely worth ch

If you’ve ever experimented with slapping affiliate referral urls into Google adwords and driven traffic straight to the affiliate’s landing page, you’ve probably also experienced the Google Slap.
