equals her career best with a third place finish at Nashville
. With some thought to the last ten laps of a race, IRL should consider the Nascar single file, lapped traffic to the back rule to make racing between the lead cars more interesting when the race is on the line. Danica’s comments after the race certainly pointed out her frustration with a system that allows cars between the top runners in a race at the end.
Scott Dixon dominated the race, leading the most laps and finishing almost 2 seconds ahead of second place Dario Franchitti.

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. - There’s something hauntingly familiar with Helio Castroneves atop the speed chart at Watkins Glen International.
Castroneves, driving the No. 3 Team Penske Dallara/Honda/Firestone, cranked out a lap of 1 minute, 30.1192 seconds (134.622 mph) on the 3.37-mile, 11-turn roller coaster of a circuit to pace the combined morning/afternoon sessions of practice for the Camping World Watkins Glen Grand Prix.
Castroneves has started from pole the past two years at The Glen, but hasn’t been able to turn the advantages into victories. Those honors belong to Scott Dixon, who happened to be second quick on the day (1:30.1587; 134.563 mph) in the No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing car.
Recent paving upgrades in Turns 1, 5 and 6 from concrete to asphalt were immediately noticed.

Patrick has hosted several TV shows on Spike TV, including the “Powerblock”, and she was featured in the 2005 documentary Girl Racers.
Patrick was featured on the cover of the June 6, 2005 issue of Sports Illustrated, making her the first Indianapolis 500 driver on the cover (and the cover, the first for the Indianapolis 500 itself) since Al Unser, in victory lane, following his upset fourth victory in 1987.
After her participation in the 2005 Indianapolis 500, she was asked by Playboy to have her pictures taken to be published in a future edition of its magazine. She declined the offer, though she will give Jason Buhrmester an interview to be published in the summer of 2007. She had also previously posed for FHM, appearing in the April 2003 issue. Recently she was on the cover of the September/October 2006 issue of travelgirl magazine and the October 2006 issue of American Libraries.

Rusty Wallace designed a beautiful race track in Newton, trouble is, its impossible to race on. The IRL cars looked like they were on ice, they couldn’t even get out of the pits without spinning, and heaven forbid they try to pass on the racing surface.
The race became strictly a war of attrition, and Danica
got caught up in it. Its hard to say what really happened to her, it looked like the car simply went completely out of control when it got sandwiched.
Hopefully the track can be improved before the next race.. and while they’re at it maybe they fix up the access to the track so that when people get off I-80 it doesn’t take hours to get to the parking area.
Patrick would love to be first–even though Andretti Green Racing teammates Marco Andretti, Dario Franchitti and Tony Kanaan have promised to shave her head whenever she makes it to Victory Lane.

Patrick was born on March 25, 1982 in Beloit, Wisconsin to Bey and T.J. Patrick. She has one sister named Brooke. Her family moved to Roscoe, Illinois when she was young.

Patrick comes within less than three tenths of a second for the pole at Mid-Ohio
for the Sunday July 22 road course race. She will be starting on the front row by Helio Castronevez, and she was very pleased with her effort, particularly since it was on a road course All of the Andretti-Green cars will start in the top ten.
A time of 1.06.183 and speed of 121.687 gave Castronevez the pole, Danica’s time of 1.07.125 and 121.098 mph was second and very competitive, as strong as she’s ever been off an oval.
The race takes place on Sunday on ABC-TV.

, better known as IRL, is the sanctioning body of a predominantly American based open-wheel racing series. Its centerpiece is the Indianapolis 500. The IRL is owned by Hulman and Co., which also owns the Indianapolis Motor Speedway complex and the Clabber Girl brand. The IRL was founded in 1994 by Tony George and began racing in 1996. CART had sanctioned Indy car racing since 1979, when the organisation broke away from USAC. George blueprinted the IRL as a lower-cost open-wheel alternative to CART, which had become technology-driven and dominated by a few wealthy multi-car teams, much like Formula One. It initially attracted some of the smaller teams who believed in the vision presented by Tony George. In later years, the IRL has come full-circle and become similar to the CART series it sought to separate from. Engines
Starting in 1997, IRL cars were powered by 4.0L V8, methanol burning, production-based, normally-aspirated engines, produced by Oldsmobile (under the Aurora label) and Nissan (badged as Infiniti). That engine formula was replaced by a 3.5L format for 2000, at which time the requirement for the block to be production-based was dropped. This formula was used through 2003. In 2004, the displacement was further reduced to 3.0L, in an attempt to curb top speeds. For the 2006 season, a new fuel blend was utilized. The cars would burn a 90%/10% mixture of methanol and ethanol. For 2007, the engines utilize 100% fuel grade ethanol, and displacement will be increased back to 3.5 L.
Historically, Honda, Toyota and Chevrolet competed for the engine supply business. Danica Patrick Controversial as she Deals with Sexism in Racing

Some racing journalists, IndyCar fans, and other drivers (such as Robby Gordon) have claimed that Patrick
’s relatively low body weight gives her an advantage in a competition where engine size and car weight are strictly regulated. (Patrick’s height is 5′2, and weight is 100 pounds.) The IRL president, Brian Barnhart, disagrees, telling Dave Caldwell for The New York Times that Patrick’s weight “had a […] minimal effect on the competition.”
Patrick has also had to deal with sexist remarks from fellow racers, who feel that auto racing is a man’s sport. In May of 2006, after an appearance on ESPN SportsCenter’s Budweiser Hot Seat, Patrick made comments that ruffled the feathers of former NASCAR drivers. I feel compelled to divulge this before getting into what’s bothering me.
I like Danica
Patrick. She’s been fantastic for the Indy Racing League. She’s made the circuit relevant, and made her races appointment TV for me. I don’t mind her posing suggestively for magazines — as long as she doesn’t bare it all for Playboy — because she is an attractive, smart woman who has handled the attention given to her looks responsibly.

But Patrick needs to do one, tiny little thing.
Be quiet.
Patrick’s teammates at Andretti Green Racing have reportedly threatened to cut off her hair when she wins her first IndyCar race. But they’d be better off helping her zip her lips.
Patrick was in full whiner mode after Sunday’s Firestone Indy 400 at Michigan International Speedway — known more succinctly as yet another race
