Another High Profile List of Moneymaking Blogs 2007-07-18 14:46:11 I’ve seen many bloggers talked about this list in their blogs. It’s the list produced by Business Week about How Top Bloggers Earn Money. Looks like Paula Mooney is not alone in producing such list. The difference is, the list by Business Week is much shorter but contains in depth profile for each blog.
But as Zac Johnson stated, a lot of our well-known bloggers are not on the list, that includes evil blogger John Chow coz he thinks he’s too evil for Business Week to handle (that might be true though). Maki at DoshDosh has provided us with a great article profiling 6 of the 13 blogs from the list. From his analysis, we know that people are just crazy for weird and funny stuff, as well as looking forward to know what’s the latest news in the celebrity world. So if you’re trying to make money, why don’t you start a new blog that captions every Britney’s photo that you found. That might hit the jackpot. Try it and see how it goes. Accepting Credit Card Payment for Online Business 2007-07-15 15:56:33 One of the ways to make extra money online is by selling goods over the internet, either through ebay or your own business website. These products can be anything ranging from day-to-day stuff such as clothing to ebooks (either written by yourself or those PLR ones). If you’re planning to take this path of making money, then you’d better think of the means of accepting payments from your potential customers. Some people prefer checks, some prefer paypal, but I think the most widely acceptable way of payment is by using credit cards
There are some issues regarding credit card payment that you need to be aware of if you’re choosing to accept it as the means to pay for goods. Security is clearly the most important issue. You need to keep your potential customers data safe and secure under your protection, so choosing the right provider to process the credit card payment is vital for your business success. In terms of your own type of business, the risk involved is also d Read more:Payment

Google Does It Again As The Googfather - After John Chow, Now It’s Squidoo 2007-07-12 22:31:33 Looking at Google
and their actions in recent days reminds me of the movie Godfather. It’s like Google is the Godfather of the online world. Make friends with Google and you’ll be safe from anybody. Try and mess with Google - you’re in deep s*** and they’ll soon give you an offer you can’t refuse. So I would give Google a new nickname, the Googfather.
If you haven’t heard already, many have suffered the wrath of the Googfather, including the big J - John Chow himself. Try and search for John Chow in Google, and you won’t find johnchow.com at the top spot, not even on the first page of the search result. Try and search for ‘make money online’ and johnchow.com is no longer at the top spot again. What happened to him? Ask the Googfather. The main reason was probably because he used the keyword ‘make money online’ to promote his blog through reviews excessively, and that invoked the wrath of the Googfather. Let’s Give Some For Charity 2007-07-21 07:46:25 This might be a bit off topic but for the sake of charity, I guess it won’t hurt, rite?
I’ve been tagged by my lovely wife for this charity meme. Normally I won’t participate in this tagging game. But this time, I think everybody should. Why? Because by doing this meme you are contributing RM127 to the Darul Izzah Orphanage in Malaysia (RM127 is about $33). Yup, one entry will give that much to the charity body. Idham over at bakpo.blogspot will dish out his own money to the charity (that’s RM127 for each entry). So why don’t we show some love and participate to help others. Just copy and paste this in your blog
If you are tagged, you need to write an entry related to the meme. At the end of your entry you just need to tag as many person as you like. You will then leave a comment in their blog to let them know they have been tagged. And to include this message, “By doing this meme you are contributing rm127 to the Darul Izzah Orphanage”. Why Did You Choose Your Blog’s Niche? 2007-07-23 03:33:24 I was asking myself the other day this question. Actually, I can’t really remember why did I choose to set up a blog about making money. I can’t remember what triggered me to do it. But one thing that I’m sure of is, John Chow’s blog has played some part on it. So you can probably say, it’s because of his blog that I decided to do the same, but not necessarily.
If I can remember correctly, I was about to blog about something else. And the person who persuaded me to make money online (or using AdSense in particular) was a friend from Malaysia who makes $300-$400 from his airline route map website. I did a lot of research beforehand, taking his advice and reading a few ebooks that he gave me. I listed out several of my ideas but never came up with something worthwhile to start with.
Somehow along the way, I decided to blog about making money online and offline. Little did I know, thousands of bloggers out there were thinking and doing the same thing. Now, wa
Get a Life, Not Just A Good PageRank 2007-07-27 03:38:53 We’ve almost come to that time of the year again where a huge number of bloggers will rant relentlessly about their predicted pagerank and ways to get their pagerank increased. Dean Hunt has another idea though. Instead of worrying about pagerank, why don’t we just get a life. Yup, agreed. Life is not all about pagerank.
One way to get on with your real life is to participate in his meme on a list of webmasters who don’t really care much about pagerank update (or do they? ;-)) . Just follow the instruction below and get on with your life. Let Google do the rest.

Make Extra Money with Smorty 2007-07-27 02:17:49 If you are serious about making extra money online, one of the method that you should consider is paid blogging. If you haven’t heard of paid blogging before, all it means is that you write articles according to certain specifications, and you get paid for it. It’s that simple. In the offline situation, this could be the same as accepting offers to write people’s resumes, covering letter and so on. In the online world however, most of the time it is used to advertise your products to the Internet community be it a website or raw materials.
As a blogger, there are many opportunities for you to get paid for blogging about a company or an individual’s products. One of the way is to register with websites like Smorty which connects advertisers with bloggers. Advertisers request a review to be posted by bloggers, and bloggers accepting this request will write an article about it in their blog.

Get More Targeted Traffic by Identifying Your Visitors Needs 2007-07-28 19:14:48 I’ve haven’t used Google Webmaster Tools very much these days (probably I should have). The one thing I like about it, apart from the diagnostic tool, is the statistics report. And the one I think that’s most useful to get targeted traffic is the query stats. It lists out all the top search queries that bring people to your site, so if you analyse this list, you should have a better picture on your visitors trends.
Surprisingly, the top search query that brings people to this site was Paula’s new list of bloggers salaries, and with an average ranking of 7 in the SERP, that’s a good position to make this site stands out. Another thing that surprises me is this site is ranked first for the search query ‘Paid Typist Scam‘. That is due to the post I made during the early days of this blog about my experience with a scam job offer for home typist.
In my opinion, you can use this tool in two ways
1. You can either alter the contents of your site acco Read more:Visitors

The Blogging Tips Meme 2007-07-30 16:44:51 I’ve been tagged by Shaun Low (thanks Shaun) for this blogging tips meme, which I think is quite simple to do (and a chance to get backlinks as well). All you have to do is share your blogging tips in one or two simple sentences and put stars next to those tips that you like
-Start Copy-
It’s very simple. When this is passed on to you, copy the whole thing, skim the list and put a * star beside those that you like. (Check out especially the * starred ones.)
Add the next number (1. 2. 3. 4. 5., etc.) and write your own blogging tip for other bloggers.
Try to make your tip general.
After that, tag 10 other people. Link love some friends!
Just think– if 10 people start this, the 10 people pass it onto another 10 people, you have 100 links already!

How To Boost Your Search Engine Ranking With Article Submission 2007-08-02 14:00:18 Everybody needs information whether you’re a student, housewife, or a factory worker. These days, people can get information easily in the internet and people are hungry for good quality information from quality articles. This is where your role comes in. Google wants great articles to serve the demands, and you provide good articles for Google. Since articles are so much needed by people, we can grab this opportunity to our own advantage by turning those well written articles into our traffic and backlink sources to boost our ranking in the SERP. Here’s how to do it:
1. Re-write your old blog posts
You don’t have to start from scratch all the time. If you already have a blog or website with great information, you can just re-write those articles into more formal and lengthy ones. You don’t need to spend hours thinking of points to include in the articles because you’ve done it before and it’s there. Just grab one or two main points from each paragra Read more:Boost

Neopets Cheats site - The Importance of Grabbing The Early Opportunity 2007-08-06 03:02:03 Do you know what’s a Neopet?
I didn’t, until I read a blogpost by Paula Mooney about Chloe Spencer who earns around $20-$30 a month from her Neopets Cheats blog - and she’s just 16! You can read her success story written by her own father at CNET.
A quick search on the keyword ‘Neopets Cheats‘ using my favourite keyword suggestion tool reveals that the amount of search totals up to 43,166 monthly. That is pretty good number I should say.
Now let’s take a look on the number of websites that satisfy these people’s demands. If you type in ‘Neopets Cheats‘, you can see that it only returns 621,000 results! Now for that amount of search per month and less than a million website created to meet the demands, it’s relatively easy to get to the top of the search engine ranking and making lots and lots of money from it.
This is the importance of grabbing the early opportunity and going for the untapped niche. From what I see, Chloe does Read more:Early

Updates 2007-08-15 06:19:25 I know what you’ve been thinking. This blogger must’ve had enough of blogging - yes typical of those newbies. But fear not, that’s not the case and I’ll still continue writing posts on this blog even though I’ve had so much difficulties to do so lately
1. My laptop crashed - well not literally but it suddenly stopped working last week. It automatically shut down and when I restarted it, the HDD made some weird creaking sounds and gave out a love message - “Disk Read Error“. I presumed the HDD is dead so that needs to be repaired or replaced any time soon
2. Striving to finish up my mini thesis - As I’m approaching the moment of truth, I need to sort out my documentation for a transfer from MPhil to PhD. And that means writing for a formal document 48 hours a day - everyday. I hate writing formally, but that’s life. Sometimes you’ve got to present it on paper to make people believe.
So hopefully I will have some extra minutes s
Make Extra Money with iPhone 2007-08-28 13:43:22 I’ve been thinking about this since they launched it but never had a chance to post it here. Finally, somebody is making big bucks from iPhone
. Here’s the story:
The teenage hacker who managed to unlock the iPhone so that it can be used with cellular networks other than AT&T will be trading his reworked gadget for a new car.
George Hotz, of Glen Rock, N.J., said he had reached the deal with CertiCell, a Louisville, Ky-based mobile phone repair company.
Hotz posted on his blog that he traded his modified iPhone for “a sweet Nissan 350Z and 3 8GB iPhones.”
Full story at Yahoo News
Imagine what you can do with the power of hacking a mobile phone. I never thought anybody would exchange a hacked iPhone with a Nissan 350Z (!) and 3 more iPhones. I was only thinking selling those hacked iPhone in ebay, but this guy really thinks big. What a bargain! If I was him, I would hack those 3 iPhones for 3 more cars, or perhaps a mansion, or a yacht or whatever money can Read more:Extra

Finally, a PC 2007-10-01 05:48:11 After a long wait, I finally upgraded my laptop into a PC. Can’t risk to have the laptop fixed and then crashed again. So I went out spending a few hundred pounds buying some components online, waited for a few days for the items to be delivered, and after a few hours of assembling them all (it took a while since I haven’t done this for years), it’s finally up and running until today flawlessly. It’s actually a gift for my wife (although I’ll be using it for gaming as well :D) since she’s been writing so well in her blog and couldn’t do anything with the laptop gone and all. So hopefully both of us can now contribute more to the blogging community (and make extra money) with this new machine sitting on our desk at home. Here’s the specs :

This blog is ranked higher for ‘Make Extra Money’ 2007-10-16 10:50:54 I was supposed to report this earlier but good for me, the result is still more or less the same. Back in early September, while I was relieved from my blogging activity, I did check my ranking for the keyword ‘Make ExtraMoney
‘. Lo and behold! To my surprise, I was on page 2 for Google UK. That was quite an achievement for this blog since it’s been up and running for just 3 months at that time.
At the beginning of this month, with my very low blogging activity, I checked again. And there I was, still on page 2. But looking at my ranking from other countries, some of them were really good, like ranked #1 in Google Malaysia, and first page for most of the South East Asian countries. Woohoo! Know what that means?
Yup, apparently more clicks have been generated as well, and I’m pretty sure that most of them came from Google. This was confirmed when I looked at my Google Analytics result. Before this, most of my traffic came from referring sites such as mybloglog an
Make Extra Money with Micro Stock Photography Part 1 2007-10-30 19:28:52 If you love photography, and you can take photos, one of the ways to make extra money online is selling your photos to micro stock agencies. I’ve tried this and it really paid off. But before I go into that, let me tell you what micro stock photography is. According to Wikipedia
Microstock photography or Micro Stock
Photography is an offshoot of traditional stock photography. What defines a company as a microstock photography company is that they (1) source their images almost exclusively via the Internet, (2) do so from a wider range of photographers than the traditional stock agencies (including a willingness to accept images from “amateurs” and hobbyists), and (3) sell their images at a very low rate (anywhere from $.20 - $10) for a royalty-free image.
A number of microstock sites also sell vector art, and some sell Flash animations and video, as well as images.
So in plain English, micro stock photography is the kind of photography in which your photos will be lic Read more:Extra

Google Finally Updated My PageRank, and it’s a PR3! 2007-10-29 13:23:10 Thank god I’ve finally submitted my mini thesis. Now it’s time to regenerate my energy to prepare for the viva, and to blog again after a long holiday. I browsed some of my favourite blogs today, and suddenly I realized that the Google
Pagerank has been updated, at last. It was a relief to see that this blog received a modest PR3. From 0 to 3, not a bad jump eh? I won’t complain much since I didn’t expect this blog to get more than PR4 anyway, but thanks Google for the update
There are also complaints from other bloggers who expected to get more than what they’re given, as well as those A-list bloggers whose pagerank were dropped. I’m actually amused by those who gave the ’sour grape’ attitude towards Google Pagerank. At one time, these people value PR more than anything else, posting articles on how to increase PR and so on. When they got penalized, or they didn’t get what they want, they started bashing at the algorithm Google use Read more:Finally

Make Extra Money with Micro Stock Photography Part 2 2007-11-08 10:49:39 In part 1 I gave a brief introduction to those who want to pursue this path in getting extra money online. Thank you to all who registered using my affiliate links. If you have patience to learn all the skills and secrets to getting more money from microstock photography, I’m sure you won’t regret it. To date, my Shutterstock income has reached $20, not too bad for a 11-photos portfolio eh? So in this part, I’m going to talk about the photos that you upload, what make them sell and what not
Type of photos
From my experience, when you’re thinking of taking a photo for microstock companies, you’ve got to differentiate between artistic photos and stock photos. Most of the time, artistic photos won’t get as much sale as you would want them to be. In my opinion, upon picking up your camera, start thinking the types of images that appear in magazines, websites and pamphlets. Compare Prices to Save Money 2007-11-26 18:24:11 In this era where the Internet rules, you can’t escape from buying stuff online. With so many products on sale, the decision making process becomes much more difficult especially if the product that you’re looking for requires a huge sum of money to be spent on. Be a smart customer by comparing prices before you buy. Traditionally, you would jump from store to store to compare the price but thanks to some price comparison websites such as Savebuckets, the process can be made easier and faster. For example, if you’d want to buy a laptop, you can just browse the website for things related to laptop or you can use the search function to find what you like. As simple as that. The site also gives you advice and buying guide if you don’t know what to look for. You can also state your most affordable price for a particular product that you like and they will email you whenever there’s one matching your price. Pretty neat feature if you ask me. Make Extra Money with Micro Stock Photography Part 3 2007-12-10 20:41:09 Many have asked me on how to take photos of a subject with seamless white background that makes the subject stands out and isolated. Most of the time, this type of photos sell very well since the one buying them can easily cut out the subject from the background. In short, it can easily be manipulated, and that’s why people love photos of subject isolated on white or black background.
Since I don’t have the money to buy all those hi-tech stuff such as the lighting probes and softbox, I ended up constructing my own home made studio using items already lying around in my house, with some extras of course. What you need is basically
1) A box
2) Tracing paper
3) Sticky tapes/glue
4) Construction light/tungsten light
5) Cardboard paper for background
6) Knife/scissors
Since I got this idea from Johan Mattson’s blog, I think it’s better to go to his blog and follow the steps that he describes there. It’s basically the same thing that I did, and I even bought the Read more:Extra

Does Your Make Money Blog Really Teach People How To Make Money? 2007-12-23 19:19:57 A few months back, I read a blog entry on the issue of whether ‘make money’ bloggers really tell people how to make money online. I tried to search the article today but couldn’t find it. If anybody knows which one I’m talking about, do inform me ya? Thanks
Anyway, the author did some research and found out that recent posts (at the time of the article was written) of the top ‘make money’ bloggers don’t really talk about how to make money, instead most of them talk about pagerank, traffic, paid posts, reviews etc. Well, I can argue that at that time, everybody was furious about Google PageRank updates so it’s not a surprise if people were talking about PR all the time up to 2-3 posts one after another.
Some of the bloggers mentioned in the post commented on the article. Some argued that talking about traffic, pagerank, how to blog efficiently etc. can also help people to make money online since if you want to make money online, you have t Read more:Money
