I am very surprised at the speed of how fast the internet gets its news. Anyway I read from International Herald Tribune, that the Malaysia
n Government has sided against those greedy multi chain bookstores. (read the story here)So while surfing the internet for the latest updates on all this Harry
Potty Boycotts and such, I found out that this news has already been updated on WIKIPEDIA.So I still hope all of you who pre ordered, please try and get a refund from MPH & Popular.Here check out Yahoo Answers on Why the Hypermarket can sell it so cheap ?Refund !! I woke up this morning and was pleasantly surprised that Sharon Bakar had left a comment on my post about Harry Potter. I read her post and opinions and went on to read the comments section. Jalan Alor, the street full of food. But which restaurant serves good food and which doesn't. That night we were walking up from WAW (famed for their delicious BBQ Chicken Wings). We ta paoed, one each and ate our chicken wings as we walked up to scout what/where to eat our dinner. We walked all the way to the other end, stopped by at Loong Kee, and bought our bacon strips. Then we made our way back down.Sai Woo, is in the middle. We noticed a crowd outside and saw some people actually standing and waiting for their seats. Whoa.. jam packed wo this place (it was about 730pm) and we were getting hungrier by the minute. So we sat down and ordered some stuff.Char Koay Teo, O Chien, Fried LA-LA.The Char Koay Teo came first, looks damn good, red color, and I thought for once I get to eat Pg style Koay Teo here. I suddenly felt like I wanted to go watch a Football match, and what more, a AFC Cup Semi Final between South
Korea
and Iraq
. It wasn't planned or anything like that, but I guessed its not one of those matches where the tickets get sold out or something like that. I went during lunch time to get my tickets and this was what I saw. Luckilly they were open , ahahaha.Furthermore it was between 2 very good teams, South Korea
(favourites) and Iraq ( who did well to reach the semi finals , definitely my dark horse for this tournament). And the plus point is that, is was held at Bukit Jalil, a world class stadium, that leaks ( yups bocor wan).It started raining at about 5pm. By 6 the stadium was already wet. [Short note: After a short trip to writing about Harry Potty, I am now very happy to go back to blogging about food ]Jalan Alor, is definitely one of those places which I tagged as, I wont go there unless I have to, in the afternoons. It was 7.7.7 and we have always wanted to go check out Jake's Fantastic Steak
s. We were advised to make a reservation, because it was a weekend, and the occasion was a 777. We arrived there about 6 plus almost 7 in the evening. We expected to spend a bit of time looking for parking, but I guess we were lucky. We found one spot, right in front of the Thai Restaurant , on the same row as Jakes.When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by some usherer. Checked to see if we have had a reservation, we said yes, and she whisked us to our table. Soon after a friendly waiter came by to take our order. Yes, this is the place where we began our journey to try out food @ Jln Alor that night. We parked our car at Hotel Novo's carpark and walked up to WAW first. Just ordered 2 pairs of chicken wings, and shared it with Sayang. She happilly chowed down her share.... and she looked so happy after that ( like what chocolate does to a chick !! wakakakaa !!)Look, its a chicken factory over here. No where else in Malaysia do they churn out so much Chicken

Still at Jalan Alor on that day... walao. Now I think back right, what I had that Saturday night. Ok, here's the blardy list:1) Wong Ah Wah Chicken Wings2) Loong Kee, Bacon Strips3) Restoran Sai Woo - although we ordered the wrong stuff4) And this one Ngau Kee Beef NoodlesBy this time Sayang had already stopped eating, although for myself, I wasn't done yet. Frankly, I didn't really eat much at Sai Woo. I thought, why waste the space, we should go try the Alor's Famous Beef noodles.This stall has not changed much since I got introduced to this place, some 10 years back. Still looks dirty, and is still by the roadside in the corner of the street right opposite of Corona Inn. But most importantly, their noodles still taste the same.For me the bowl of noodles were above average, although someone else might give it a 110%, eat until stick to wall situation. To me, these are nice, because not many people knows how to make beef noodles like Ngau Kee does.I ordered dry noodles

bin Kudu, but I knew all my life that this place serves great Nasi Kandar. My first visit over here was probably , when I was in secondary school, and my uncle was the one person who brought me here.And this time around, I brought two of my colleagues to come eat. One Malay fler, from Kelantan, who usually very reluctantly touch Indian food , and a chinese fler who eat almost anything.This restaurant is no looker, but I must say, since Abdul Kudu's daughters took over, the place has looked much brighter and noticeably much cleaner than before. Business is not as brisk as before. I remembered long lines, people queuing up to get their nasi kandar.Having been going round eating, quite a bit of mutton and beef, this time I opted for fried chicken and vegetables. Anyone tried Teochew Char Koay Teow ? It must have been one of the weirdest thing I've seen, when I first saw this stall @ Jalan Imbi (opens only for dinner). After trying so many CKT's in Penang, I really am trying to find a subsitute for CKTs.. in KL.To be frank , I have not been to these stalls for a few years now. But luckilly for me the Teochew Char Koay Teow stall is still around. I had a few words with the lady frying the good stuff, and she told me, that they have been there for 38 years. Needless to say, she must be the second generation frying Koay Teow in this same spot.We also ordered Fishball Noodles from a stall in the same place.We waited quite long for our CKT to come. Long ? Yes, considering the fact that most CKT's are cooked in within 2 - 3 minutes, depending on how hot they keep their WOK. I only just recently went up to Youtube to watch the entire video and I thought, the mofo is quite funny, and he got his facts quite right about most of the stuff he was rapping about.. [Not: decided not to put that video up , coz sked the LAW might take action but I saw the one with english subtitles !! ]I gotta say, he made a big mistake by making insinuating remarks about the "Azan". Sometimes after class, on Sundays, we may end up at this place for a drink and a quick bite.I don't quite understand what the appeal is for this CCTs ( Char Chan Teng), but I always notice a crowd at these restaurants. Right opposite ( outside of Cheras Leisure Mall) you can find another cafe, Food & Tea, also always packed with customers....Anyway, this time we came over for a quick lunch, before BC class. I knew we were running late and couldn't eat much so I ordered for Mantau with Luncheon Meat... I must say this dish is really nothing special... wakakakaka... just spam and mantau cut into pieces...thats it.... oh ya those yellow lines are mayo. Nowadays, after we finsih combat at Uptown
, we will surely try to find some food within the area of Uptown 5. Hence, the increased frequency of eateries we frequent around DU / UPtown area.Yes I was on one of those Char Koay Teo rampage, where I went try different CKT at different places. We ordered Fried carrotcake and CKT from this place.While filming the video (che WA !!) the auntie came and talk to me. Telling me how long they been frying their koay teos. Since before there was UPtown , they had a stall by the roadside, until today, they already have two grown up sons. Now helping out in the stall also la.I am sure you can't help but notice, my voice, I was giving that "oh ya ka " demeanour to the auntie.. wakakaka... In my mind, wait and see la, let your CKT do the talking....One of the reasons why I tried this stall is because, they use a flat grill to cook their CKT, secondly, there are easilly 10-15 stalls out of 50 in UPTOWN that sells Char Koay Teo, so which one is good

If you are looking for a nice environment, decent food, and a fairly cheap place to eat, do come to CODO. Its situated on the 3rd Floor of MidValley, and definitely one of those places that I frequent. I remembered I had dim sum set the first time I ate here. I was quite impressed and somehow there was some kinda draw, and I kept coming back since.I liked the decor of this restaurant. Its a fusion of chinese, traditional kopitiam and romantic. Plus, this restaurant is situated on top of a busy 3rd Floor Podium area of MidValley, which is not as noisy as the restaurants below. I used to call this place Desa Aman Duck Rice (Ngap Fan) stall when they were still located at the roadside, opposite of Cheras Business Center, simply because they used to have a big duck signage infront of their stall. I am not sure where I read it, but someone did complain that August is the month of many birthdays, so much so, I would love to apply to change mine from August to maybe perhaps, July or September. Even out abit ma, so that, your friends and families no need come out so much in August to buy gifts, food, etc.Surprisingly for us when we arrived at 730, we found the place, virtually empty. , and wondered, what to eat that night. We walked past TGIF and thought, hey.. don wanna eat too much to night, so we walked on. Restoran Kam's kitchen , started off as a little Tai Chow, situated under a huge tree in Kampung Cheras Baru , off Jalan Kuari. To be more exact they were situated only outside of Poh Yep (famous door manufacturer). They opened only at night. The one we frequent the most is the one at DU, Uptown & Cheras Leisure Mall(CLM). Did you know that in Leisure Mall, they actually are 2 Secret Recipes ? I have been wanting to come to this place to eat for quite some time. Its just that we haven't got the time to come here. So one Sunday we just told ourselves, lets just go and eat there again, so I could blog about this place.What is Cosy Corner famous for ? Well to be honest, I know their Yong Tao Foo is famous, and always 5sen or 10sen more expensive than other shops. Their Lam Mee is good although I have had better (May King @ Jln Yew/Pasar). Their Curry Laksa is very nice too.Yong Tao Foo, 80cents a pieceLam Mee, 4-5 bucks per plateFor me the star of the day is their Curry Laksa. Their laksa got just the right amount of Lemak, and isn't too thick. Just nice , the way I like it. Of course I am not going to compare them with 15 ringgit laksas, which I dare say some even loose to them.To be frank I have not tried their Prawn Mee before, granting that I have been to this restaurant for countless times over the years. . I had no idea what this was, but when I first walked into the cafe, the decor did not disappoint. The interior gives you the feeling you are walking into a modern Malay cafe style eatery. The tables are all covered with nice table cloths and the staff attentive.According to my friend, this is according to him, an artiste's meeting place. I think he meant hang out. So he mentioned a few Malay celebrities, and since I know none of them, I won't recognize any, even if they stood infront of me.My friends met there, having eaten Steak somewhere else. So they were to first to order. They had a dish called "Kunyahs"(14 bucks). I spelt it as it appeared on the menu. Its a plate of fried mushrooms, potato wedges, fried squids and fried something...
