Where to buy HP7 if you are in East Malaysia 2007-07-21 21:40:00 I woke up this morning and was pleasantly surprised that Sharon Bakar had left a comment on my post about Harry Potter. I read her post and opinions and went on to read the comments section. I found quite an interesting mix of opinions from various parties. We have quite a few who kutuk the hypermarkets, some were happy that Tesco and Careffour is doing this, but some unfortunately for someone like Georgette Tan who is in Malaysia

Restoran Sai Woo @ Jalan Alor 2007-07-26 00:40:00 Jalan Alor, the street full of food. But which restaurant serves good food and which doesn't. That night we were walking up from WAW (famed for their delicious BBQ Chicken Wings). We ta paoed, one each and ate our chicken wings as we walked up to scout what/where to eat our dinner. We walked all the way to the other end, stopped by at Loong Kee, and bought our bacon strips. Then we made our way back down.Sai Woo, is in the middle. We noticed a crowd outside and saw some people actually standing and waiting for their seats. Whoa.. jam packed wo this place (it was about 730pm) and we were getting hungrier by the minute. So we sat down and ordered some stuff.Char Koay Teo, O Chien, Fried LA-LA.The Char Koay Teo came first, looks damn good, red color, and I thought for once I get to eat Pg style Koay Teo here. Mana tau, after first bite, then second bite... alamak... the taste a bit off la. So, in the end, we gave up. I give A for looks, D Fail, for Taste....O Chien Came ( fried
South Korea V Iraq - AFC Cup Semis 1 2007-07-25 09:11:00 I suddenly felt like I wanted to go watch a Football match, and what more, a AFC Cup Semi Final between South
Korea
and Iraq
. It wasn't planned or anything like that, but I guessed its not one of those matches where the tickets get sold out or something like that. I went during lunch time to get my tickets and this was what I saw. Luckilly they were open , ahahaha.Furthermore it was between 2 very good teams, South Korea
(favourites) and Iraq ( who did well to reach the semi finals , definitely my dark horse for this tournament). And the plus point is that, is was held at Bukit Jalil, a world class stadium, that leaks ( yups bocor wan).It started raining at about 5pm. By 6 the stadium was already wet. Luckilly this magnificent stadium, has full covers for spectators.A shot of where all the fans congregated for this matchListen to the chants of the two sets of fans, separated by one fence onlyMoving on I managed to mingle with both sets of fans and I took some videos to show for it.
D/Meat + M/Floss Bread & BBQ Dried Bacon Strips @ Loong Kee Jln Imbi 2007-07-24 22:52:00 [Short note: After a short trip to writing about Harry Potty, I am now very happy to go back to blogging about food ]Jalan Alor, is definitely one of those places which I tagged as, I wont go there unless I have to, in the afternoons. The traffic jam here is terrible, and parking spaces are hard to find and also they are blaardy expensive. But one Saturday afternoon I had to be there to collect some stuff, so I ended up there. I parked diagonally opposite to Loong Kee , which initially I had no intention to drop by, but the smells were just to hard to resist, as if I kena mind controlled into the shop.Anyways, I wasn't going to buy anything, just want so see see only. But, because of the free smells, I suddenly remembered, I have not had Dried Meat Bread
in a long long time. So I looked at the menu, I chosed the third option.Thats how they serve you the D/Meat + M/FLoss BreadIf you compare how they served me in the video with the picture above, you would have noticed that the Read more: BBQ

Jake's Charbroiled Steak 2007-07-31 12:17:00 It was 7.7.7 and we have always wanted to go check out Jake's Fantastic Steak
s. We were advised to make a reservation, because it was a weekend, and the occasion was a 777. We arrived there about 6 plus almost 7 in the evening. We expected to spend a bit of time looking for parking, but I guess we were lucky. We found one spot, right in front of the Thai Restaurant , on the same row as Jakes. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by some usherer. Checked to see if we have had a reservation, we said yes, and she whisked us to our table. Soon after a friendly waiter came by to take our order. He even posed for us.So, in our booth, we saw one picture of the latest Tun in town, posing with the owners of the restaurant. We ordered Mexican Nachos , to share between the both of us. We both compared their Mexican Nachos with Fajita Nacho's of Chili's and TGIF, but I guess, over here somehow , maybe and perhaps... you know we just couldn't point our finger as to why their Fajita N
Wong Ah Wah Chicken Wings @ Jln Alor 2007-07-29 21:52:00 Yes, this is the place where we began our journey to try out food @ Jln Alor that night. We parked our car at Hotel Novo's carpark and walked up to WAW first. Just ordered 2 pairs of chicken wings, and shared it with Sayang. She happilly chowed down her share.... and she looked so happy after that ( like what chocolate does to a chick !! wakakakaa !!)Look, its a chicken factory over here. No where else in Malaysia do they churn out so much Chicken
wings in one shoplot. This flers should go into Malaysia Book of Records for selling the most Chicken wings in a day.I remembered the previous visit over here, we had one Crab Dish ( sweet and spicy sauce ) with Roti Bakar - damn chun that dish , One Fried Snails ( Gam Heong ) and of course we also had their chicken wingz. Although a bit pricey but their food was quite good, ada standard punya dei !! Unfortunately, we wanted to try other stalls along Jln Alor, so we took a rain check for WAW's crabs.Other reviews ( I think everyone h Read more: Wings

Ngau Kee Beef Noodles @ Jln Alor 2007-08-02 09:25:00 Still at Jalan Alor on that day... walao. Now I think back right, what I had that Saturday night. Ok, here's the blardy list:1) Wong Ah Wah Chicken Wings2) Loong Kee, Bacon Strips3) Restoran Sai Woo - although we ordered the wrong stuff4) And this one Ngau Kee Beef NoodlesBy this time Sayang had already stopped eating, although for myself, I wasn't done yet. Frankly, I didn't really eat much at Sai Woo. I thought, why waste the space, we should go try the Alor's Famous Beef noodles. This stall has not changed much since I got introduced to this place, some 10 years back. Still looks dirty, and is still by the roadside in the corner of the street right opposite of Corona Inn. But most importantly, their noodles still taste the same. For me the bowl of noodles were above average, although someone else might give it a 110%, eat until stick to wall situation. To me, these are nice, because not many people knows how to make beef noodles like Ngau Kee does.I ordered dry noodles
City Hall bringing down structures in Jinjang... 2007-08-04 01:04:00 Sad to say, one of my favourite Maggi Mee Goreng in Jinjang Selatan stall, has been closed down, and I believe it is the work of City Hall
. The question is , do you know where this stall is now ? Although the stall has been demolished for like a few months already, I believe it is somehow related to the story below. I hope someone can tell me where if the stall has been relocated...City Hall: Bring ’em down By YIP YOKE TENG metro@thestar.com.my RESTAURANT operators in Jinjang Selatan and Jintang Utara new villages are crying foul over City Hall's order to dismantle the extensions to their shops. Distraught: Liew says City Hall should explain why they wanted the structures down. They received letters from City Hall since last month saying the extensions were illegal and must be dismantled within two weeks from the dates of the letters or the authority would do it for them. DVD seller making a Name for himself !! 2007-08-11 00:51:00 pic from ThestarThis guy must be the most famous guy on Astro today. Forget about Raja Lawak, he will always succeed in getting me into stiches everytime his advertisment comes on TV. Sure enough, when we first saw the advertisment, the first question is, "Where did they find this Ah Beng from ..." hence theStar's article , "Ad guy Yuen is no Ah Beng".Everyone I know , find the Ad very very funny. Definitely stand out from the rest. The only people who were not amused about it , are the actual DVD flers. WAKAKAKAKAKA !!! I heard one of them ranting about this AD too.. and he doesn't look very amused that ASTRO has made an AD making

Nasi Kandar Kudu bin Abdul @ Jln Tuanku Abdul Rahman 2007-08-09 22:30:00 I never knew this place is called Nasi Kandar Abdul
bin Kudu, but I knew all my life that this place serves great Nasi Kandar. My first visit over here was probably , when I was in secondary school, and my uncle was the one person who brought me here. And this time around, I brought two of my colleagues to come eat. One Malay fler, from Kelantan, who usually very reluctantly touch Indian food , and a chinese fler who eat almost anything. This restaurant is no looker, but I must say, since Abdul Kudu's daughters took over, the place has looked much brighter and noticeably much cleaner than before. Business is not as brisk as before. I remembered long lines, people queuing up to get their nasi kandar.Having been going round eating, quite a bit of mutton and beef, this time I opted for fried chicken and vegetables. I also asked for kuah campur. Its really a good mix of kuah they give, but the server is careful not to drench the rice, unlike some of those guys in Pelita KLCC do.I find Read more: Rahman
Teochew Char Koay Teow @ Jalan Imbi Night Stalls 2007-08-14 09:51:00 Anyone tried Teochew Char Koay Teow ? It must have been one of the weirdest thing I've seen, when I first saw this stall @ Jalan Imbi (opens only for dinner). After trying so many CKT's in Penang, I really am trying to find a subsitute for CKTs.. in KL.To be frank , I have not been to these stalls for a few years now. But luckilly for me the Teochew Char Koay Teow stall is still around. I had a few words with the lady frying the good stuff, and she told me, that they have been there for 38 years. Needless to say, she must be the second generation frying Koay Teow in this same spot.We also ordered Fishball Noodles from a stall in the same place. We waited quite long for our CKT to come. Long ? Yes, considering the fact that most CKT's are cooked in within 2 - 3 minutes, depending on how hot they keep their WOK. We waited about ten minutes, and when it arrived , it looked pretty good. When it arrived, it was just fresh off the WOK. The aroma filled the air, but I bet it came pa Read more: Night
Restoran Leong Ya @ Taman Sungai Besi Indah 2007-08-13 09:24:00 Remember my last post on Yong Tao Foo ? Wasn't that long ago isn't it ? Restoran Leong
Ya , is famous perhaps for 2 dishes... their Yong Tao Foo and Paper Wrapped Chicken. Sometimes because I eat too much... I have to cut down of carbs & red Meat, I will come over to Leong Ya just to eat their Yong Tao Foo , without rice for lunch. Its also good to sometimes try to lower down Carb intake... kekekeThere are 3 Leong Ya's in the vicinity of Taman Sungai
Besi Indah. This one belongs to the daughter, opposite of Azhar Maju Mamak. I must say this Leong Ya is the most packed during lunch and dinner, and yet I couldn't find a single blog review of this place... You should be able to see in the map below the Leong Ya (in black) and Leong Ya in Yellow. There should be another Leong Ya somewhere in the front, with air cond. The way they serve their YTF is slightly different from the ones in Ampang. The sweet sauce is served together, and their chili sauce is slightly different fro
Namewee's New Video is out - Cutegirl 2007-08-16 22:03:00 If anyone's been listening to the radio or reading the national papers, you would have heard of this Malaysian kid studying abroad in Taiwan, who allegedly insulted our Country. I only just recently went up to Youtube to watch the entire video and I thought, the mofo is quite funny, and he got his facts quite right about most of the stuff he was rapping about.. [Not: decided not to put that video up , coz sked the LAW might take action but I saw the one with english subtitles !! ]I gotta say, he made a big mistake by making insinuating remarks about the "Azan". Nevertheless, he has now moved on , after making his video apology also on Youtube, I just saw this new video clip of his.I think this song is called , Cute Girl ( Ke-Ai de Nui Hai) - soli my mandalin not so powderSo what do you think ? This fler is talented right ?I think he is talented, but unfortunately stupid. Anyways, good luck to NameWee, should the Malaysian law decide to take further action.
Wong Kok - Char Chan Teng @ Leisure Mall 2007-08-16 05:55:00 This Wong Kok, is strategically placed, right opposite of Fitness First, at Leisure
Mall Cheras. Sometimes after class, on Sundays, we may end up at this place for a drink and a quick bite.I don't quite understand what the appeal is for this CCTs ( Char Chan Teng), but I always notice a crowd at these restaurants. Right opposite ( outside of Cheras Leisure Mall) you can find another cafe, Food & Tea, also always packed with customers....Anyway, this time we came over for a quick lunch, before BC class. I knew we were running late and couldn't eat much so I ordered for Mantau with Luncheon Meat... I must say this dish is really nothing special... wakakakaka... just spam and mantau cut into pieces...thats it.... oh ya those yellow lines are mayo. Nothing special but it was quite tasty...Sayang ordered her Szechuan nisin noodles. I always thought those were maggi mee, served with Szechuan meat or something like that.. waakakakaNow you see why I am quite puzzled as to why these CCT
Flat Grill ( Teppan) Char Koay Teow @ Uptown 2007-08-16 00:59:00 Nowadays, after we finsih combat at Uptown
, we will surely try to find some food within the area of Uptown 5. Hence, the increased frequency of eateries we frequent around DU / UPtown area.Yes I was on one of those Char Koay Teo rampage, where I went try different CKT at different places. We ordered Fried carrotcake and CKT from this place. While filming the video (che WA !!) the auntie came and talk to me. Telling me how long they been frying their koay teos. Since before there was UPtown , they had a stall by the roadside, until today, they already have two grown up sons. Now helping out in the stall also la.I am sure you can't help but notice, my voice, I was giving that "oh ya ka " demeanour to the auntie.. wakakaka... In my mind, wait and see la, let your CKT do the talking....One of the reasons why I tried this stall is because, they use a flat grill to cook their CKT, secondly, there are easilly 10-15 stalls out of 50 in UPTOWN that sells Char Koay Teo, so which one is good Read more: Grill
Heroes Season2 Resumes September 24 2007 2007-08-22 04:05:00 The last scenes as I remembered it , were the two Petrelli brothers, exploding somewhere in Mid Air, and with Hiro having travelled back in time to Medieval Japan. Since then I have been waiting for Heroes Season

CODO @ MidValley 2007-08-20 12:46:00 If you are looking for a nice environment, decent food, and a fairly cheap place to eat, do come to CODO. Its situated on the 3rd Floor of MidValley, and definitely one of those places that I frequent. I remembered I had dim sum set the first time I ate here. I was quite impressed and somehow there was some kinda draw, and I kept coming back since.I liked the decor of this restaurant. Its a fusion of chinese, traditional kopitiam and romantic. Plus, this restaurant is situated on top of a busy 3rd Floor Podium area of MidValley, which is not as noisy as the restaurants below. Additionally, you do not get passer by's stopping to watch you eat. The lighting is dimmer than most kopitiams or restaurants which serves dim sum, but bright enough to take a business associate out for lunch. They also have booth tables which gives you that kind of privacy you wish for a business lunch or a romantic date. For some reasons which I can't pinpoint at, this restaurant has got a fairly low n
Claypot Chicken Rice @ Restoran Teow Chew (Taman Desa Aman, Cheras) 2007-08-19 23:54:00 I used to call this place Desa Aman Duck Rice (Ngap Fan) stall when they were still located at the roadside, opposite of Cheras Business Center, simply because they used to have a big duck signage infront of their stall. I have been to this stall countless times, as this place serves some pretty good Claypot Chicken
Rice, and also teochew dishes. They moved some months ago, when DBKL decided to move everyone into a new food court complex in Tmn Desa Aman. Surprisingly, they managed to get a shoplot in Desa Aman and there moved there. This is my first time at this place since they moved. It was just a simple dinner, as such we ordered one serving of Claypot chicken rice, some Loh Duck (Loh Ngap), Loh Eggs, and Ham Choi. All very nice to eat dishes I must say.My favourite over here is the Claypot chicken rice. I don't mean to say it tastes astronomically better than every where else, but I must say they're ok, haven't got anything bad to say about their food here. You can also add in

Restoran Oversea (Cheras) @ PGRM 2007-08-28 20:10:00 I am not sure where I read it, but someone did complain that August is the month of many birthdays, so much so, I would love to apply to change mine from August to maybe perhaps, July or September. Even out abit ma, so that, your friends and families no need come out so much in August to buy gifts, food, etc.Surprisingly for us when we arrived at 730, we found the place, virtually empty. Hmm.... but we were soon ushered into our room, alamak, got Karaoke wan. Later we noticed that our room actually has an extra thick door , I belief for sound proofing (plus point so that our singing don't disturb other patrons while they eat).Mom + Dad sang a few songs, before the food arrived ( didn't have to wait too long).Sliced Suckling Pig with Fruit Salad, this dish came with a single serving plate (actually the entire dinner was going to be like that), carefully decorated, and placed on a nice white plate. It looked so good, I almost didn't eat it ... but of course I emptied it in no ti
Curry Mee @ Jalan Kaskas Stall (Tmn Cheras) 2007-08-27 13:29:00 Taken from journeymalaysia.com The stall with a blue tin roof This place serves the best Hakka Laksa Lemak with cockles in town! Open only at night and closed Wednesdays. The wantan and sui kow with its simple preparations, bring back memories of how purity tastes. The ABC or air batu campur is like what we used to have at the canteens in school years ago. Just lots of shaved ice, syrup, evaporated milk, corn and red beans. That's all we need, right?! Location: Taman U Lek, Cheras at Lorong DurianWhile reading the article, I can't help but wonder, how the writer actually managed to find this stall. In my opinion its definitely not the best curry mee I've had, but I won't say its terrible la. Steak @ Suzi's Corner 2007-08-26 21:41:00 When was the last time I had a steak ? [count..count...lost count]Was at Suzi's sometime earlier this month. It was just an impromptu decision to go over to Suzi's, as I met up with a client and was having a drink at Pelita, near Ampang Point. It just struck me that, the fler is from Penang, tak kan pula I belanja him Nasi Kandar , right ?So I suggested to him, got one place, Steak
very nice... he said ok , why not.. We got up the car, left the car park outside Pelita, and took an inch by inch roll down to Suzi's. It took us 20 minutes. So its true, Suzi's has become an Expat's mamak. Its good to see those Mat Salleh's letting their hair down, eating food a cheap stalls like Suzi. Really have to go see to believe. I also wondered, why the Mat Sallehs love this place so much.I went down to Suzi's to try their Steak , so I ordered my steak. My client, ordered his chicken chop and so did my colleague. Mine was a Sizzling Black Pepper Steak (asked to cook to Medium Well). It
Big Apple Donuts & Coffee @ The Curve 2007-09-02 11:04:00 We just finished gym at The Curve
, and wondered, what to eat that night. We walked past TGIF and thought, hey.. don wanna eat too much to night, so we walked on. Then we realized, hey , this donut place has always got a queue, so lets try them. We checked to see if they have tables and seatings for us, the answer was YES and we sat down. While Sayang ordered, I kept busy snapping pics of this place. I am still trying to figure out how to use the new camera.... sigh !!! Okay so this place sells only donuts, unlike Dunkin Donuts
, so says Sayang. This is my first time here, and I read this sign they got just outside the store. Buy A cup of Coffee
, get a donut FREE !! Whoa, so nice meh ? So I ordered a cup of coffee. So they give you a normal glazed donut. Nothing special there. As for dinner , Sayang ordered a dozen donuts. Most of the time, we shared half a donut each. Notable donuts I liked, were the OREOs, Double Chocolate, The Cheese donut, and the durian donut. Although Read more: Apple
Restoran Kam's Kitchen 2007-08-29 20:24:00 Restoran Kam's kitchen , started off as a little Tai Chow, situated under a huge tree in Kampung Cheras Baru , off Jalan Kuari. To be more exact they were situated only outside of Poh Yep (famous door manufacturer). They opened only at night. They have now moved to the shops next to the big tree now.Kam's famous for offering simple food which tastes good, small servings, and reasonable pricing. It has become a joint where I could go have a quick dinner with mum and dad. I mean just the three of us, if you wanted a variety of dishes , but don't wanna stuff yourself up too much, this restaurant's the place to eat. A vegetable dish is priced from RM6, meat from RM 8, and fish ( very reasonable). Usually we'd just come by and order one Vege, one Fish , One Meat, and maybe a Chicken Dish... but two weeks back, we just wanted to try out something a bit special from them.We ordered a Steamed Cod Fish, Mutton Curry, Nai Yau Prawns, and Fried Brinjal. We ordered COD fish, because w Read more: Kitchen
The Award Winning TomYumGoong @ Secret Recipe 2007-09-17 10:35:00 Secret Recipe serves great Tom Yam Gung. This was recommended by Sayang, who is an ardent fan of their Tom Yam Gung. We've had this plenty of times already at various Secret Recipe outlets. The one we frequent the most is the one at DU, Uptown & Cheras Leisure Mall(CLM). Did you know that in Leisure Mall, they actually are 2 Secret Recipes ? One on each wing. The soup for Secret Recipes Tom Yam Gung is very potent. Definitely not the type of soup for people who can't eat spicy/hot. Everytime I eat this, I am sure to sweat like crazy. And everytime I sweat like that I will complain to the staff that their air conditioning is not working, then they sure gelabar wan.Their prawns are usually big, succulent, and most of all fresh. However, when we had this bowl of Tom Yum Gung, I thought the prawns were slightly smaller than the ones we've had in CLM and the one in DU. I thought they were suppose to be the same. Restoran Cosy Corner @ Taman Cheras, Yulek 2007-09-16 11:25:00 I have been wanting to come to this place to eat for quite some time. Its just that we haven't got the time to come here. So one Sunday we just told ourselves, lets just go and eat there again, so I could blog about this place. What is Cosy Corner famous for ? Well to be honest, I know their Yong Tao Foo is famous, and always 5sen or 10sen more expensive than other shops. Their Lam Mee is good although I have had better (May King @ Jln Yew/Pasar). Their Curry Laksa is very nice too.Yong Tao Foo, 80cents a pieceLam Mee, 4-5 bucks per plateFor me the star of the day is their Curry Laksa. Their laksa got just the right amount of Lemak, and isn't too thick. Just nice , the way I like it. Of course I am not going to compare them with 15 ringgit laksas, which I dare say some even loose to them.To be frank I have not tried their Prawn Mee before, granting that I have been to this restaurant for countless times over the years. Restoran Timor Place @ Dagang Avenue 2007-09-15 02:21:00 A client recommended that we meet at Timor Place
in Dagang Avenue
. I had no idea what this was, but when I first walked into the cafe, the decor did not disappoint. The interior gives you the feeling you are walking into a modern Malay cafe style eatery. The tables are all covered with nice table cloths and the staff attentive.According to my friend, this is according to him, an artiste's meeting place. I think he meant hang out. So he mentioned a few Malay celebrities, and since I know none of them, I won't recognize any, even if they stood infront of me.My friends met there, having eaten Steak somewhere else. So they were to first to order. They had a dish called "Kunyahs"(14 bucks). I spelt it as it appeared on the menu. Its a plate of fried mushrooms, potato wedges, fried squids and fried something... Then they also give you the kuah cili manis, very nice (authentically done like keropok lekor type of kuah). They also asked for 2 servings of Tauhu Bakar. Unfortunately f
