what does ‘being original’ mean? 2007-08-05 09:38:51 There has been a coffee chat among few of us bloggers on the definition of ‘original content’. Naturally, the understanding of ‘original’ means not copied or ’stolen’ from anywhere. According to the free online dictionary, it means ‘fresh’ or ‘new’, not an adaptation. In other words, whether or not you are paid for an article or not, whether it’s a paid review or non-sponsored post, as long as it is not copied or adapted from anywhere, it can be classified as ‘original’ material. This applies to design or business idea - being original means ‘fresh’ idea and not ‘borrowed’ from any source.
What is your definition of ‘original content’?
you can make a difference 2007-08-04 10:56:28
Some of you may know from my earlier post that I have a soft spot for children with special needs. I always like to do something for orphanges or shelters when opportunity arises. Two years ago, few of us threw a special Christmas party for a children’s home. The smiles on their faces brought such unspeakable joy and comfort to my heart. (more…) Read more:difference
good things come in small packages 2007-08-04 09:42:17
I don’t know if it’s just me but I really subscribe to the phrase of “good things
come in small packages”. Whenever I attend weddings and baby showers, I will be looking out for those specially designed party favors as well as candy wrappers. I simply adore the sweet illustrations that are usually chosen to fit the theme of the event. These days, candy wrappers, favor boxes and party favors are becoming more creative.
Simply Wrapd is a great place for these lovely party favors for weddings, birth announcements and any special events or celebrations. The candy wrappers, miniatures, paint cans, magnets, bookmarks, post its and mint books make excellent gift ideas for your guests, families and friends. Besides, you can place your orders online and leave the experts to do the job for you. Prices of the wrappers include a choice of hershey chocolates or nestle crunch. If only I found them earlier, I didn’t have to wrap my own wedding favors when I was getting

I’ve installed Stat Counter 2007-08-04 05:06:13 I know it’s going to sound silly but finally, I mean ‘finally’, I have installed a Stat Counter
code to all my blogs. For the last few months, I have been reading about what stats counter does, its benefits, great features and how it can provide a summary report of visitors to my sites, as well as knowing where these visitors come from. All this while, I wouldn’t care much about these details but as I spend more blogging and networking, I know it’s necessary to track my visitors and site traffic.
At first, I tried Stat Counter, then I found Site Meter on google search. The downside of Site Meter is that you can’t view all your blogs in one account. In other words, if you have 4 blogs, you need to create 4 login accounts… that is a hassle. So Stat Counter is by far the best and it’s free. Now, I can see who is reading my blogs, the length of visit, the pages visited and where they come from. I should have done that long ago
can’t wait to take a vacation 2007-08-03 19:38:12 This morning, I woke up a little earlier than usual and had some time reading up a couple of articles on Hawaii vacation reviews and travel tales. It was timely since we would be visiting this lovely place in a few months’ time. While waiting for some airfare promotions, I thought I should finalize some itinerary details since I had collected so much information, resources and thoughts over the last couple of months.
Generally, many people describe trips to Hawaii as casual, relaxing, rejuvenating, fun-filled, recreational and uplifting. There is a good mix of pure, unspoilt relaxation and touristty commercialism. But it suits me just fine. I like some good urban living and shopping with some days of soaking in the sun and ocean breeze. Too many days spent on each may be too boring for me or the little one. I could only recall the hangloose ambience at Waikiki beach though I read that a lot of changes have taken place in the last 10 years. Some say it is like Gold Coast Australia
my travel blog is coming soon 2007-08-03 10:23:04 I’ve finally started to work on my travel blog
. Some of friends think I’m crazy to start another new blog whenever my plate is so full. Well, travel is in my blood so I really like a blog dedicated to travel resources, travel tips, travel tales, travel photos, vacations, itineraries, exotic destinations…etc. I want to feature all kinds of hotels, resorts, B & Bs, exotic stays like Pigeon Forge vacation rentals or luxury lodges in New Zealand or some Carribean hideouts.
It’s just so nice to think about travels and vacations as the weekend is here. Where is your next travel destination?
websites for realtors 2007-08-08 12:47:34
I’m one person who believes in niche businesses. For instance, would you prefer to go to a pet store to buy a special treatment product for the fleas on your dog or would you go to a departmental store that sells everything from toilet rolls to pet accessories? I much prefer to go to the company who specializes in a specific field or area of expertise instead of going to one who is the Jack of all trades. But this is also dependent of the product and services you are after. (more…)
what is true happiness for you? 2007-08-08 04:35:36 I’m tired… after 4 hours of driving on a road trip from Singapore. It was nothing but back to back meetings, a little leisure here and there. We had some fruitful meetings with our Singapore partners and business associates. A few incidents triggered some thoughts on life, money and happiness
. I talked to a successful woman who had a great career, lots of money and established business but no true happiness on the home front. It makes me rethink my purposes and goals in life as I start to re-evaluate my priorities.
Business success is coveted by both working women and men, so is true happiness. You may be doing do well in your business, climbing that corporate ladder or building that home business of yours, but if you have no true happiness, everything becomes futile after a while. You may be popping lots of garden of life pills to stay healthy and strong, attend the best talks in town by top gurus in how to succeed in life but it still come back to what is the single most

web hosting news for you 2007-08-06 12:05:13 Sometimes the marketplace can be a confusing one. We are surrounded by lots of promotions and reviews on products and services we use daily in our place of work and home. Whether it’s buying a new TV, add a new piece of furniture for the bedroom, purchase educational material for our kids, look for a good contractor to fix our broken pipes or source for good and reliable designers to design our marketing material, we are faced with choices and options around us. are you insured? 2007-08-11 12:57:22 I believe most of us have bought some form of insurance - home insurance, medical, personal accident, car insurance, whole life insurance, travel insurance, education insurance…etc. I used that insurance was a waste of money. That was the time when I was starting out in my career and wan’t willing to commit myself to any premium. Whenever an insurance agent tried to make a sales pitch, I would tell them that ‘nothing would happen to me, thus, I didn’t need any insurance’. But the truth was I changed my mind when I grew older. I began to realize that life is so fragile and buying insurance is not only for my protection but for my welfare of my family members. It’s knowing that they can be taken care of should anything happen to me. It is not about me but the people I love and care about.
I’m not selling any insurance here It’s just a thought for the day.
using mailing lists for marketing 2007-08-11 12:45:24 This weekend, we have to get our marketing campaigns in place for our seminar in Singapore. After all the partnership tie-ups, we are ready to do a full launch for our Asia Sales Mastery program. Over the last few weeks, we had tied up with several professional bodies in order to leverage on the database and mailing lists. In our line of business, effective and targeted mailing lists are vital to achieve our goals. When it comes to mailing lists, we need to identify the target market of our event and most of the time, we would be looking at a pool of corporate people. By failing to engage the right mailing list provider for this purpose, it can mean ineffective results and a waste of our investment.
Do you use Mailing Lists for your business or marketing activities? If yes, have they been effective for you?

an attorney for you 2007-08-10 14:16:49 A piece of news shocked me when I flipped the morning newspapers today. This newborn babe’s left arm was amputated due to an infection caused by a drip bag in a hospital. The procedure had caused an infection on the premature baby’s arm and thus led to this sad incident. Perhaps, you may have experienced a personal injury as well, caused by the fault of another person and you need a personal injury attorney to represent you in your case, where do you go to? (more…)

i’m still searching… 2007-08-09 10:58:25 My good friend shared a business idea with me during our get together dinner few weeks ago. It was related to selling artistic things and immediately, I suggested to create an online store. Personally, I have no experience with setting up an online store. I have only gotten to being an affiliate, blogging and design some web headers but never close to knowing how to have start a shopping cart store. (more…) Read more:searching
are you planning for a home office 2007-08-08 22:47:21 It seems that more and more women are choosing to work from home or to begin a home business. As parenting duties and responsibilities increase, working from home present more flexibility and opportunity for women to fulfill these commitments while keeping their passion alive. It is good to stay active mentally and physically whether you are a SAHM or WAHM. I know of many real estate and insurance friends who are starting their home office
s so that they can spend more time with their growing children. I do agree that certain profession may pose a challenge with working from home but if this is your ultimate goal, you should work towards it. To get started, read up some WAHM stories and experiences and gather your resources before embarking on this rewarding journey. Read more:planning
find ‘fresh’ coupons here! 2007-08-08 21:23:08
Shopping online with coupon codes is not a new thing for most of us. In fact, many of us have seen savings from these coupon codes either shared with us by friends or from our personal discoveries. But we also face the frustrations of using coupon codes that don’t work as some coupon sites are not updated regularly so you tend to see expired ones and those that contain little value. get energized in the home office 2007-08-14 13:36:05 One of the ways to feel energized in the home office
is to take a power nap in the afternoon. Power nap means a real short nap that does not exceed 15 mins. If you haven’t tried that, you should. It will energize and refresh you, leaving you with my energy to finish that load of work on the table. I used to dim my kichler lighting on my desk and nap at the corner of my home office on my tatami. If you find that power naps do not work for you, try getting on a trampoline for a few minutes or do a series of light stretches to get more oxygen in your system.
thought on finance 2007-08-14 12:43:05 I’m never comfortable with owing people money, therefore, I avoid falling into debt traps or things like that. I know that in business, it is common to end up in debts due to wrong business decisions or over committing to contracts and deals. We hear stories of bankruptcies all too often and some even led to sad stories of broken families and suicides when creditors start hustling and chasing for payments. (more…) Read more:thought

I must visit London! 2007-08-14 02:42:57 A promotional mailer came through my mailbox few days ago. It was another airline promotion to Europe and some of its fabulous destination highlights. That got me thinking - when would I be planning for a trip to London?
Being a garden and park lover, I must not give London’s oldest royal park, St James Park a miss. From the travel tales in the Europe Hotels Guide, you will be greeted by the well-trimmed landscape with the colourful flower beds plus a host of attractions around the area. London is a city full of famous landmarks and in St James Park alone, there will be two to look out for. I heard so much about the changing of the guards at the famous Buckingham Palace. These photos are found in most travelers’ photologues. It is almost iconic of London travels! (more…) Read more:visit
manage your business more effectively 2007-08-13 05:25:57
My husband often comment that I am not organized and that I should do something about it. I was a sole proprietor for a few years in the early 90s and didn’t think hard about clients management at that time. But I must say that managing a business is quite different these days, especially if you plan to grow your business. Nowadays, clients are more sophisticated, computer savvy and demanding so we need to be creative in our management skills. (more…)
Sunday Quote of the Day - husband and wife 2007-08-12 10:52:36
I came across a couple of cute quotes today. They remind me of my husband running into the house, clad in his Air Jordan with all the dirt and mud when the cleaner just cleaned up the floors the day before. I am reminded me about acceptance, forgiveness, grace and love. Here are the SundayQuote
s of the Day, dedicated to all couples, men and women, husbands and wives… we need these daily reminders…
“Love is the thing that enables a woman to sing while she mops up the floor after her husband has walked across it in his barn boots.”
– Hoosier Farmer
“People shop for a bathing suit with more care than they do a husband or wife. The rules are the same. Look for something you’ll feel comfortable wearing. Allow for room to grow.”
– Erma Bombeck
how do you occupy busy toddlers? 2007-08-12 07:54:53 One of the things I still struggle with in my home office career is to balance well between my office work, personal work, housework and parenting. I managed to convince DH to subscribe to Playhouse Disney channel as Clayton is getting bored with his collection of DVDs. He grew up with Baby Einstein educational series, Maisy and Kipper. But like any other 3 year old, his attention span is short. He still keeps himself busy with jigsaw puzzle, flash cards, vehicles, his scooter, motorbike, bicycle and blocks, but he’s always looking for something more and new. Sometimes, I feel guilty leaving Playhouse Disney on for too long while I do my work but it is so hard to keep that balance right.
How do you occupy your busy toddlers when there are so much waiting to get done? I love to hear your ideas.
for the home office men 2007-08-18 03:34:00
While I usually do some household chores on the weekends - clear the laundry, fix up Clayton’s room, organize my work area, clean up my dresser table, my hubby will focus on things that I’m not good at such as fixing the car, checking the cables and some DIY touch ups in the house. I’m rather hopeless when it comes to automotive matters so I’ll leave DH to do the job. (more…) Read more:office
growing with linkworth 2007-08-17 11:56:32 This morning, I received two link posts from LinkWorth Ads… that was so nice. The nice thing about Link Posts is that they are paid better than PayPerPost and you don’t need to sit all night to wait for opps. Only thing is you need to wait for advertisers’ requests to put up a post so it’s a little like ReviewMe.
But compared to ReviewMe, LinkWorth has more features and monetization options. I believe a new site with improved navigation is in the pipeline. As much as I love all the features and options found in LinkWorth, I still find it hard to navigate my way around and being a newbie, I do get a little confused with some features. Just one minute ago, I noticed that the upgrades were already LIVE and they looked alot friendlier, clearer and better! I’ll tell you more later!
However, a member staff of LinkWorth, Ron, is ever so ready to answer questions and help when I’m stuck and lost. Actually, the blog is a great place to learn more about the
weekly thoughts 2007-08-17 04:46:49 It’s another one week break for Clayton next week and I wonder how are we going to cope with it. He’s so active now and it looks like we need to find activities to keep him busy. This is another hectic week as we prepare for some upcoming events in the next two months before easing off to a vacation in December. It feels good to know that the air tickets are finally booked and we’ll be off to Hawaii then Los Angeles for Christmas. (more…) Read more:thoughts
