fun with style and trends
2007-07-29 10:00:29
We are living in the age of iPods and super internet technology and we can’t help but to accept that our children’s hobbies and interests have evolved and changed in this 21st century. Therefore, I’m glad that there is a safe site that can help to occupy busy growing girls who are learning about fashion and style faster than my time. Sometimes, these young teenage girls are more trendy and well-informed than me in the fashion scene and trends. I’m glad to hear about dress up games at Cartoon Doll Emporium, a fast growing hobby and recreation site with more than 800 hand drawn illustrations of dress up games and up to 25 million visitors to its site since the launch two years ago. With this attractive profile, I know it’s a must to check it out. I must say that I am thoroughly impressed with the dolls found on the site. The illustrations and graphics are realistic and visually appealing. You can tell by one look that the site is well developed which explai

Banana Republic in Malaysia and Singapore
2007-07-29 09:06:30
Banana Republic is finally opened in Singapore and Malaysia ! I first heard about the nice line of ladies’ clothing when I visited the US few years ago and I’m so glad they are finally here! You can find it in KLCC for the Malaysia outlet and for Singapore, it is located in Paragon, occupying two floors, one for men and the other for ladies. I headed down to both boutiques to check out its range. All I must say is that I need to put on some weight before looking good in the silk dresses and tops. The prices fall in the mid to upper range, depending on fabrics and style. Though I haven’t found anything that suits me, I know it is one boutique I will visit often. At least, I manage to find a nice leather belt for my pants and jeans, after walking in and out all the designer boutiques who don’t have any nice belts this season. Any fan of Banana Republic here?

what sort of traveler are you?
2007-08-03 07:33:44
We have now come to a sensitive part of this entire travel planning. It’s budget time! Unlike me, DH will settle for any sort of accommodation whereas I’m more particular and careful. This is because I don’t want the vacation to be ’spoilt by filthy apartments, stained bedsheets, dirty couches, dusty rooms, stinking bedrooms… know what I mean? I am thankful that most of the bed and breakfasts or condos we chose in our previous vacations had been pleasant. I do believe in paying a little bit more for better locations, nicer views and newer furniture and extra features or better service. (more…)

steel that lasts
2007-08-03 00:41:12
I’m not quite a DIY person but during my stay in Perth ten years ago, I lived with my Aussie guardian who was fairly good with her hands like building her own shed and patio… I thought that was admirable for a lady in her mid-fifties. The first time I came across future steel buildings was when she took me to a new estate at the edge of the country. At that time, I had no idea what they were. I noticed that alot of homeowners used them for storages, workshops and garages. Basically, the use of future steel buildings was preferred due to its cost effectiveness, durability and space savings features. Actually, the company who markets such buildings had started a blog to provide information and resource to consumers in the marketplace. You could read and learn more about the different buildings available at Future Steel buildings and find other information related to home improvement and construction.

a step into paradise

This must be an interesting line of fashion clothing for those who are after a natural tan at work or at play. Whether you are playing under the sun, strolling along the beach, biking, fishing, boating, sailing or involved in any water activities, you can still get a tan with CoolTan tan-through shirts and swimwear. I came across this website while doing a research on Maui shopping scene. I suppose the advertiser has guessed that swimwear is a must when you are visiting Maui. Being the second largest Hawaiian island, Maui attracts more than 2 million visitors a year! Believe it or not but my Hawaii travel guide tells me that Maui has 30 miles of beaches. So you really need to come equipped to this island with your tan-through swimwear and snorkeling or diving gear. Moreover, Maui condos are easy to find, it all depends on your budget, accommodation style and preferred location. Most of them boasts ocean or beachfront views and if you are willing to pay more, some condos are just a st

i’m serious about SEO
2007-08-02 21:42:34
Over a dinner conversation 2 weeks ago with Stuart Tan, my good friend, who is also an internet marketing expert and coach, I had a mindset change about my blogging business. It may sound strange to call it a ‘business’ but to me, anyone who is monetizing his/her blog is already in business For a while, I have been thinking about optimizing my blogs but honestly, I don’t know how except for exchanging links and following some tips by some SEO bloggers in the web. But this time, I’m serious ly thinking about getting a quote from a search engine placement company to assist me in meeting my goals in this blogging career of mine. There is so much to SEO, from link building to article submission to directory submissions. Of course, there are many factors that help to increase the site’s overall ranking including keywords selection, link ads and other optimization methods. But whatever SEO options you chose, you do need to consider setting aside a budget if you

teak for that look
2007-08-02 21:27:22
Being an outdoor person, I have longed for a nice set of outdoor furniture in a well-landscaped patio someday. And when it comes to choosing furniture that comes under the exposure of adverse weather conditions, whether it’s the sun, rain or winds, my preferred choice would be teak furniture. Growing up in a traditional chinese family, my mom used to tell me that teak wood is the premium choice for home furniture. It is durable and contains natural oils that make it suitable for use in exposed locations; in other words, it stays durable even without being treated with oil or varnish. (more…)

luxury that starts from $1,000
2007-08-02 11:18:28
Okay.. here’s a post dedicated to all those who love luxury accommodations on your Hawaii vacations … but let me warn you first. The rates for a night stay in these vacation homes or apartments start at $1,000, according to my findings at Hawaiian tourist info. Ready for this? Let’s check them out! 1) Ho’o Walea at Poipu, Kauai is pure luxurious 3 bedroom ocean front vacation home that is spacious, and simply beautiful. This well-designed home comes with a pool and promises a truly relaxing vacation with the family. Even if you don’t have a big family, you can invite another family or couple to join you in this luxurious property. 2) Four Seasons Lana’i at Manele Bay is a perfect hideaway for the techno savvies, chic and sophisticated tourists who enjoy the pure luxury of up-to-the-date technology such as LCD television sets and high-speed Internet access. With garden views for some rooms and magnificient ocean views over Hulopo’e Bay and th

oh, it’s mauboussin!
2007-08-02 10:29:19
Chunky rings are so ‘in’ these days. I only wish I have longer fingers and slightly bigger hands to carry them off But I was surprised that I didn’t look too bad with Mauboussin’s Etoiles Divines… if you see the real thing, it is truly a divine. But honestly, for almost RM8K, I rather invest in a solitaire or princess cut diamond ring at a good jewelry. But for its design and fine quality, go for Mauboussin if money is not an issue. I’m an ocean enthusiast
2007-08-02 08:18:02
Don’t ask me why but I’m quite a sucker when it comes to ocean or beach front properties. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen and lived too long in an urban city with no close access to nice oceans and calm beaches. So whenever I have the opportunity to travel to destinations with nice oceans and seas, I will make it a point to pick a beachfront property. So you can guess that I will be looking at Hawaii beach front properties for our family vacation. If you ever thought about traveling to Hawaii, check out the huge list of hotels, condos, vacation homes and resorts at Hawaiian Beach Rentals. There is something for any budget and of course, be prepared to see some luxury properties if you have the money to splurge. I do dream about those luxury vacations every now and then but for now, I’m happy to find one that has a lovely ocean view and good location. Being an ocean enthusiast, a nice condo near the beach sounds like a great choice. Many friends told me that

mesmerized by Lanikai
2007-08-02 08:02:25
It is hard not to be lured by the beauty of Lanikai beach, being noted as the best swimming beach in the state by Oahu locals. While reading and looking up some Hawaiian travel information, I came across some captivating shots of coconut trees against the backdrop of clear blue skies and greenish turquoise waters. I was memerized! Easily accessible from Oahu, Lanikai makes a great place to do a family picnic or organize a short weekend getaway. It is hard to feel bored at the beach as you will notice many surfers, sea sports lovers, kayakers enjoying themselves in the clear waters. In conclusion, this is a lovely destination for good family fun and adventure seekers. The choice of vacation rentals and accommodations at Lanikai is endless. Whether it’s a studio apartment or a 5 bedroom apartment, there are various sorts of options to fit your budget and preferences.  Many of them come with ocean views and balconies while some visitors may prefer waking up to mountain views. would you splurge on cosmetics?
2007-08-03 20:13:52
Would you splurge on make-up? If your answer is no, then this post may be a little extravagant for you. But if you are screaming with a resounding ‘yes’! then you may like this collectors’ limited-edition compact designed by Jay Strongwater for Chantecaille, hand lacquered with a beautiful coral relief decoration. And the price - $420! But seriously, this is a big, big splurge for a face compact even though part of the proceeds ($30) goes to a charity called “Reefs of Hope” to aid in the preservation of coral reefs against the detrimental effects of global warming. Like Parisbeaverbanks, I will drool over this for now But then Chantecaille has put together some colour sets for different kinds of looks: Holiday Look, Spring Look and Bridal Look. These sets help to avoid wrong colour combination and hopefully help you to achieve the look you desire.

check out hanalei bay resort
2007-08-03 12:02:59
One of the things I enjoy doing before any vacation is to research and shop for accommodation options. I like evaluating the resorts, hotels or vacation homes by looking at the captivating photos and reading about what features are found in the accommodation. This is especially if the properties are highly recommended with raving reviews or voted for some rewards or accolades. (more…)

LUMEDIA - my personal review
2007-08-03 09:25:50
“THE BEST SOLUTION FOR SUPER-STUBBORN AGE SPOTS” This was what I read when I strolled past a cosmetics counter in Tangs Store Singapore few months ago. And for someone who had been troubled over the brown spots and freckles that were becoming more prominent and obvious, I stopped at the counter to find out more about the product. So what is this product that promises to ‘erase’ those dark hyperpigmented spots on my face? It is Lumedia, a new ’skin lightener’ for serious hyperpigmented age spots, melasma, and freckles in a short period of time. I was almost convinced that those small brown spots close to my eye area will be gone in that ’short few weeks’ but I was still hesitant as the small black bottle of concentrated serum (30ml) did come with a price tag of close to S$200 ( I forgot the actual price :P). But after reading the product pamphlet on how the three powerful skin lighteners can dramatically reduce melanin concentrations (m

be transformed in a vacation
2007-08-08 14:06:38
Jill was sharing with me about how some women would take a vacation to get a transformation for both the aesthetic appearance and image coaching. Basically, this sort of vacation is popular among the rich and famous, and even royalites. Recently, I read an article on featuring a los angeles plastic surgeon and how many women and men have sought various plastic surgery procedures for diverse personal needs. (more…)

nip those breakouts
2007-08-08 12:15:28
I just bought myself a product to illuminate my facial skin so do look out for a product review soon. But for now, let’s take a look at an important aspect of skin care that troubles a certain group of individuals. I believe many of us may have friends who are faced with irritating and annoying acne problems. (more…)

let’s go shopping with coupons
2007-08-08 11:40:19
I sound like a broken record but lately, I have come across many coupons sites that continue to promote savings for those who love online shopping. And if you haven’t jumped onto the bandwagon on coupons shopping, then you should start now! But since there are so many similar sites on the web, it’s good to bookmark the better ones when you stumble upon any. Look out those who provide new updates everyday. New inclusions or updates means more savings on your purchases. If you are a book lover, Barnes and Noble is offering $10 off $40 purchases if you pay with paypal. Sephora, the one-stop beauty online store is offering samples of Givenchy parfum with any purchase. For me, my favourite stores are still Target and GAP so I do check out what’s new from time to time. 100 big coupons is another one-stop site to shop for coupons and deals. What’s nice about the site is the no-clutter web interface which allows easy navigation. You can search either by category or by a

back from Singapore
2007-08-08 04:18:52
I’ve been busy travelling in the last two weeks. I just got back from Singapore and it would be a while before my next travel again. The last trip was for work again for us with me meeting my image asset management speaker and DH finding out more about data storage devices and data encryption, this whole trip was so FULL for us. I only had 10 minutes in Pull and Bear to grab a couple of tops and some health food for Clayton. Daddy was busy with finding out more about Swarm Disk Devices which are known for its optimum storage consolidation since they work well with existing backup software. So glad to be back blogging again, now that I’m back in my home office.

show off your digital pics
2007-08-05 23:52:01
Yesterday, I walked into a camera shop after being attracted by some digital camera promotional ads outside the shop. I couldn’t believe that the prices of digital cameras were so affordable these days. You can get a 8.3 megapixel camera with all the latest and top class features for only $239 - and the price is usually determined by the brand name of the camera. (more…)

Erth 3-piece mineral brush set
2007-08-11 11:48:40
After attending Jill Lowe’s color and style workshop for men 2 weeks ago, my good friend who is in whole life insurance for the last 5 years sought Jill for some makeup advice, while I sat there to listen. I overheard in the conversation that she didn’t have any makeup brushes even though she had attended Jill’s makeup class. From her response, she mentioned that good makeup brushes were expensive. I guessed she was referring to those Shu Uemura ones or the brushes at M.A.C. Actually, she was wrong. Like I said earlier, good quality makeup brushes can be affordable. I have used the ones at Erth Minerals in the last 2 weeks and they were fabulous. For only $31.95, the Erth 3-piece mineral brush set has everything you need to make your face flawless and radiant! The set contains 1 goat/sable kabuki brush, 1 taklon concealer brush, and one flawless finish brush. These mineral makeup brushes are made in the United States of cruelty-free bristles shorn from live ani

my weekend shopping
2007-08-11 06:58:35
I sneaked into a Gap sale while heading to my skincare store to grab my Aesop cleanser. As usual, I had to do this quickly while DH was killing his time at a Wilmington NC real estate exhibition. Most of the jeans and casuals were on 40% discount and it wasn’t hard to buy an item for that deal! I did a quick 5 mins browse and saw a pair of low waist jeans and in no more than 10 mins, I was already paying for my new Gap jeans. Now that I got my jeans, this ruffle neck top by Generra looks like a nice feminine style to add to my wardrobe. ($185 at shopbop.com)

the ‘circle’ of love
2007-08-11 04:41:20
The circle is symbolic of unending love. It bears a witness of two hearts joined together as one and it goes round and round in the ‘circle of love’. So many jewelers and designers have used the ‘circle’ as a design and style, you can see it in silver, platinum, diamonds, gold and other material. But the meaning is the same… it’s still a perfect circle and the different metals and finishes creates a difference every time. (more…)

my Erth Mineral Makeup Brushes
2007-08-11 04:20:29
A lovely package came through my mailbox 2 weeks ago. I was away for 2 weekends but during this time, I had the pleasure to try out these two beautiful makeup brushes sent to me with compliments of Erth Mineral Makeup . I was so excited! I’m a firm believer of using good quality brushes when it comes to makeup application. Poor quality brushes can affect the finishes on your face no matter how expensive or how good is your makeup. You should have a few basic brushes for different applications such as a broader brush for loose or face powder, one for eye makeup and a medium sized one for blusher. Here are my two complimentary brushes: the Erth’s Chrome Kabuki Brush and the Erth’s Mineral Foundation Brush. 1) Erth’s Chrome Kabuki Brush On the first touch, this broad kabuki brush feels super soft and smooth. For the price of only $14.95, I wasn’t expecting much initially and that was when I realized that good brushes didn’t have to cost an arm and a leg

buying on emotions
2007-08-10 22:37:17
Ever bought a product after listening to an alluring, deep, warm, sincere and trusted voice? I had. Sometimes, I can be driving down the street with the radio playing and I’ll be hearing an exciting, energetic and compelling annoucement on a sale happening in a mall or the launch of an event. The voice calls for attention and triggers an action and often times, I will take note and respond. This is the effectiveness of good voice overs and it is such a skillful profession, no wonder they are called voice over talents. (more…)

impressed with kindy’s computer lab
2007-08-10 14:06:32
It is amazing how education has advanced in such a fast pace in the 21st century. Few months ago, I had the pleasure to attend an open house of a kindergarten. Since it was a carnival event, we took Clayton for a day of fun. The whole school was filled with lots of inflated playgrounds and all the children were having fun. While Clayton was enjoying himself with the slides and balls, I walked the school compound to check out the facilities. (more…)

alice + olivia
2007-08-10 12:35:37
This is Alice + Olivia. I first saw her collection at shopbop.com and I love her style! These wide leg pants of hers are fluid, sophisticated, unpretentious,  a little old school but elegant. Her school girl dresses are updated with a touch of elegance while retaining the feminine characteristics of a woman. I like her choice of fabrics for her collection especially her wide leg pants, the fabric falls nicely with the cut which reflects the bold appeal of today’s modern women.
