Kathleen wrote this morning about a momtourage and it got me thinking about who my mommy friends are. Then we went to the park and Mara talked about her MIL and how she wants her to have mommy friends that are Jewish. (the criteria really is Jewish, goes to synagogue and is neat…did I miss anything Mara?) Then it got me thinking more about what kind of mommy friends I have. I know it doesn’t really matter…especially since we are all going through this experience together and sometimes you just need a sympathetic ear every once in a while. Who is your go-to mommy friend though? Who will get you through those really tough days?

Binky Free ~ day 3 2007-07-16 12:23:50 I’m scared. Boy 1 slept from 8pm until 8am this morning. He normally wakes up between 6:30am-7am. Coupe was tired but also got up because you know he doesn’t want to miss anything.
No nap today. The park playdate this morning with Yael, Xander and Ava didn’t wear them out. Damn it. I guess I’ll have to face the fact that no binky=no nap. Damn it.
and the world record goes too…. 2007-07-16 08:17:45 God lord my boys are trying to get me to go back to work. I swear to GOD if they poop one more time in the bathtub or while just naked in the house I might just lose my mind and start looking for a full time job. Seriously.
Coupe pooped EVERYDAY in the shower while at the beach. EVERYDAY people. It was almost like he felt the cool breeze on his bottom would squat and bam poo. Then Woody started to do it. Like it was a god damn competition.

;I thought okay…this is a vacation thing. A new place once we get home it’ll be back to normal. NOPE. Yesterday we were outside running in the sprinkler, playing in the sand. We go inside strip the boys down throw them in the tub, and they both squat and poo. Jesus Christ. I told Randy if they do this one more time I quit. I’ve cleaned up more poo than I’d like to talk about in the last nine days. Please let this end. Soon.
Binky Free ~ day 2 2007-07-15 17:09:37 It took Woodrow about 15 minutes and tear jerking cries for his beloved binky before he would settle down to nap. Poor lil’ guy. I’m now regretting not taking away the binky at age 1 when we talked about doing it. Thank God I won’t have to go through this with Coupe. He’s been binky free since birth. I’m still a little scared about bedtime though because last night he slept in our bed from 1am-6am. Which of course meant I didn’t sleep much. *sigh*

It’s a cruel world 2007-07-14 20:34:57 Tomorrow is National Ice Cream day. I’m in the middle of detoxing my diet/body…so no dairy for me. I’m on a lovely diet of rice, rice, more rice and assorted vegetables. I’m not complaining. Well yes I am. I can’t have ice cream damn it.

This was a two hour stand off….Cooper would not eat a single bite of carrot…and he sat at the table with Randy for 2 hours before he started to doze off. Stubborn lil’ boy.
We had a great week….but we wore the boys out! Even Cooper was ready to leave this morning.
Woodrow threw his binky into the ocean and buried the rest in the sand. He’s finally asleep but I am very, very, very scared for the rest of the week. I’m especially scared to lose the nice nap he’s developed over the last six months. Please God, please hear me out on this one….I need a nap just for another six months or so. Please? Please let this binky withdraw end swiftly and as quietly as possible. I’ll owe you one.

13 kids. 1 adult. For the love of God. It did not look like they were all hers. (just by the number of children under the age of 13.) I am not brave enough to bring my two boys to the beach alone, let alone 13 kids. Jesus Christ. I was worried for her with all the kids running about in and out of the water. While we sit here and wait for dh 2007-07-07 14:50:36 to come home so we can start our vacation. The boys and I have had a pretty good day. The threat of not seeing pawpaw at the beach has been looming over their heads and they’ve been on good behavior. We even had a great lunch together at Micky D’s.
Woody was hamming it up for everyone in the restaurant and he has been very sweet to Coupe today. Coupe spilled his apple juice and Woody said uh huh, wiped it up for him and gave him the rest of his juice. It was very sweet. I wonder if Woodrow heard me cussing out that doctor yesterday and decided he didn’t want to see a behavior therapist? *wink, wink*
I have to say though…if Coupe eats on more piece of kibble (Olie’s dog food) I’m going to have him see a vet! That boy thinks the kibble is some kind of delicious snack! yuck! It’s dry dog food but still…..it’s gross!!
what to do… 2007-07-18 08:34:48 I’m getting my haircut this evening. I’m debating whether or not to take the plunge and go for a new style. The more I look at new styles the more I want one but I haven’t had a new style since junior year in high school. That was in 1991. Wow.

The absence of caffeine is taking a toll on my housekeeping skillz. (or lack there of) I’m lazy and won’t put away the fifty snacks I pull out during the day for the boys. The joy in this is that it annoys dh so much that he will do it at the end of the day. After going shopping with Melinda last night, I came home to a clean house. The kitchen was spotless. Oh how wonderful.

On the flip side, I can have a beer after these two weeks are up. Trust me I will be enjoying that first beer..after my detoxing diet. I can enjoy pizza, bread and all the other wonderful things that contain wheat, barley or oats.
I’m really just frustrated that I went through all these tests and more importantly that Dh was right. He predicted that I had IBS three months ago. Damn it, he was right. I hate when he’s right. I will never, ever, ever hear the end of it. I can hear him now “Wasn’t I right about your stomach issues? huh Kara, Wasn’t I right?” “yes dear, you were right…..”
Fun afternoon 2007-07-20 20:44:57 Mara, Avi and Yael came over this afternoon and we all had a grand time. It was lovely to have the company since my dh decided to play videos games all.night.long.
Woodrow and Yael actually got along for most of the evening, which was lovely. This video is adorable. I especially love the way Yael tells Cooper to sit down…like a true mommy.
I’m off to finish book 4 of Harry Potter tonight. I swear I’m going to plow through this thing this weekend if it’s the only thing I do!

Yesterday Woodrow whined all afternoon for the binky. It was all to much for me. I was so frustrated dh came home and left the house with both boys in tow to let me be alone and calm down.
No caffeine=one grumpy mommy.
Woody woke me up this morning with a very strong request. One binky mommy, just one mommy. One binky mommy. If he whines again all day long I might just have to break my diet and have a glass or two of wine tonight. Dh is out all night playing video games. *sigh* It’s going to be a long, long, long day.

I’m 32, been married for almost 9 years. Married my high school sweetheart. We have 2 boys who are 12 months apart. Woodrow is 2 and a half and Cooper is 18 months old.
Went to college for Microbiology got out and decided to go to culinary school. I worked as a pastry chef at the Ritz Carlton. *for a very, very short time* Left there to become an event planner for the Smithsonian Institute. Had a great time doing that and went into the private sector to continue my career in event planning. Got a huge promotion to project manager. (I never want that kind of responsibility again. EVER)
If I go back to work I’ll probably do event planning or administrative stuff. It’s not that I don’t like being the one in charge I’m just not into it now t
Whining from the 18 month old 2007-07-19 07:24:58 Randy and I laugh about how Cooper has his own personal alarm system. Anytime he ’senses’ that Woodrow will take something away from him he starts to whine. (or sound his alarm) It was cute at first because we always knew when Woody was going to ‘charge, fight, or attack’ Cooper. Now….it’s annoying. Cooper is whining all the time even when Woodrow is outside and he’s inside. I know, I know this is the stage of whine.
What makes it worse is that he’s also in that stage where he knows how to tell me somethings but not everything so he just continues to say it over and over and over and OVER again until I figure out exactly what he wants. *sigh* Thankfully I just figured out yesterday that ‘eego’ is a stuffed animal. This weekend 2007-07-23 07:29:24 We had a fun but busy weekend! We went to a luau party on Saturday. I didn’t get any decent pictures of the boys mainly because I was keeping them from breaking everything in sight. I did get one shot before we left. Woodrow insisted on wearing his monkey shirt under the Hawaiian shirt.
After the party we hit Lowe’s to look at stuff to remodel the bathroom. Dh is planning on doing this very soon…so he wanted my opinion on things before he went out and bought them. After Lowe’s we went to get pizza for the boys because it was 8pm and none of us had any dinner. oops.
Sunday we had a pretty lazy day. We missed you Aunt Lulu!
I still haven’t finished Book 4…have about 100 pages left. I’m hoping to finish that today during naptime and start book 5. My goal is to finish book 5 by my anniversary (august 1st) so we can go see the movie that night.

1. I love little boxes. Small boxes, containers, bowls, tins. Anything small that can hold stuff. They are adorable and even if I can’t find anything to use them for I love them anyways. *weird I know*
2. I do not touch my belly button. It bothers me to even brush my hand by it while buttoning my pants or whatever. It’s not ticklish, I just do not like touching it. It’s a yuck button to me. I was so grossed out by my kiddos umbilical cord falling off I couldn’t even talk about it. yuck.

Fun but exhasting day 2007-07-25 19:30:35 We went to a Music Together class at Noyes Library today. Cooper had a blast. Woodrow whined about wanting to go home the whole time.
We hit the park afterwards with Beth. Cooper was in a great mood and Woodrow was a little maniac as usual.

The boys made a disaster out of lunch and I’m still cleaning up the smeared banana off the dining room table. *sigh* Had a quick nap, dashed to dh job to drop off the clothes he forgot at home and headed to Mara’s. Played there for a while and headed home to meet up with daddy and run around outside while I read some more HP. The boys finally collapsed at 8:30pm and I’m exhausted. Time to hit the sheets and finish up book 5. (maybe)

More tidbits 2007-07-25 07:45:33 Finished HP Book 4 last night. WOW what an ending. Love it. Dove head first into book 5 and I can’t wait to plow through it. Have a week to finish it.
Netflix lowered the price of my plan. Woohoo! I still will probably sit on a movie for a week but man I’m siked about it.
Bought my ‘dream’ tent last night at Target it was a stellar of a deal and now I cannot wait to go camping. Randy and I are looking at going sometime in late September with the boys. I know it’s a huge forkin tent but think of two hyper little boys in there with a dog and two adults. Yup…we needed the extra space. Shenandoah here we come!
I was hoping to make it down to the zoo sometime this week but the ‘chance’ of rain all this week is so annoying. Both boys are so hyper this week I have to do something with them tomorrow or Friday to get all this energy out!

Love, Faith and Life 2007-07-25 07:20:57 My parents raised me Catholic. I truly found my faith way back in college. Hope, grace and love for all things above me came into focus and brought me through some tough times. Randy went through RCIA and I was his sponsor. It brought me closer to God. Strengthened my faith and showed me the joy of great friendship in my faith.
The disturbing revelations all over the country of Bishops covering up sexual abuse cases in the church hurts my heart. I am sad for my church, the followers and for the scum that covered up this terrible crime against children. I find myself questioning my commitment to the church. I can not imagine going to another faith. I find myself wondering what direction the church will go in now to find it’s way through this crisis. Randy actually asked yesterday if we should try to hit some protestant churches (like they are the local Best Buy or something down the street) *sigh*
