My First Blog Award!
2007-10-31 00:11:00
Today I received a shout out from Phillip at the blog your-relevant.com...They have awarded me my first blogging award and its called The Golden Glasses Award ...here is what they are saying about it;The Award: The golden glasses award is a concept brought to us by one our readers. They suggested that we hand out awards to reward those that have really great blogs and who add value to their readers weekly and in most cases daily. So we decided, sure why not. That was me that made the suggestion. I think that it's great that they thought enough of my idea to make it a part of their recognition process! And they listened...I think thats nifty. They are making my award official on Thursday and it will have the Spiritual Dog Blog name attached....So, I can talk about it again on Thursday...(smile)Thanks again to Phillip at your-relevant.com for giving me my very first blog award.

The Fires
2007-10-30 08:42:00
I saw this postcard on postsecret.com and knew I had to write about it, because I related to this particular message 100% , because I do the same thing.I hold grudges, I admit it and mostly they are against my family.I think the San Diego fire can best demonstrate what I am trying to get at here. When the fire broke out and all those people had to be evacuated, I felt sorry for them, but I just went about my own life, never really giving them a thought. I did my daily routine as if nothing had changed, but it had, hundreds of thousands of people were misplaced. It never occurred to me to help, volunteer, or open my home to those who were less fortunate than myself. As the week went on and I spoke with different friends, I noticed that almost all of them, in some sort fashion, had opened their heart and did what they could do to better the situation for those people by volunteering their time, or their homes, or whatever it is that people do to help others. It never ever occurred to m

Daisy's Fate...My Dilemma
2007-11-06 22:11:00
I left off by telling of the account of Daisy 's eye, and where once again her eye had started gushing huge amounts of blood; So I looked at her eye, and I said 'O boy", I knew I had problems here.....I put the cloth hard against her eyeball and once again applied very hard pressure, it hurt her, but she withstood the pain, seemingly knowing I was helping her.Not only was it awful that this was happening, but what was worse, was little Daisy girl's pathetic wondering; Why couldn't she see? Daisy Girl kept waving her little paw in front of her bloody eye, while making a very pathetic little mewing sound, my heart was breaking for her, she was truly very sacred. The entire time that I am administering to Daisy Girl, right next to me, watching my every move and staying as close as he could, was sweet Pink Pinkerton. His concern for Daisy Girl was palpable, he was right there with me the entire time, trying to help and assure the little Daisy Girl, by giving her loving nudges and get

I have my Sunday Secret that I tell every Sunday......As you know if you read my post called Scary Night on Sassafras St. Daisy's fate hang's in the balance at the end of the post.Based on the above Secret Postcard as well as the picture on the left; What do you think my Sunday Secret might be? hmmmmmm? Here are my Sunday Weigh -In Pictures:

Scary Night On Sassafras St
2007-11-03 18:46:00
It was late Friday night, and all the dogs and me where in the kitchen. I don't even know what I was doing when all the sudden I heard a big commotion going on between Daisy Girl and that Bad Dog Chico Martini...I then heard Daisy yelping and it was extremely loud, and it was also a higher intensity than when her and Chico have previously had a tussle. I decided to investigate, I walked over to where she had run, which was to her little dog bed, only to find huge amounts of blood gushing out of her eye, not a small amount of blood, A LOT of blood. That Bad Dog Chino Martini had bit Daisy Girl, as hard as I think he possible could, and he bit her smack dab right on her eye.At first I panicked...I was walking around going "o my god, o my god" , and yelling at Chico what a bad dog he was and then said to myself...HOLLY SNAP OUT OF IT; YOUR ALMOST A OMD (Dr. of Oriental Medicine) YOU CAN HANDLE THIS!I gathered my wits, I went to the sink, got a cloth, put water on it, and then I went

Sunday Weigh In....Pictures of Us
2007-11-11 16:00:00
Another Sunday and another weigh in.....How bout' this picture.....How many times have I looked into the mirror and done this!Only to capture a glimpse of myself in a photo, or a store window, and be shocked at that person who is staring back at me.I wonder why my mind play those funny little games?I also have become memorized by the concept of fat. Its such an insidious substance...When exactly does it come, at night while I sleep? How does it get there with out being noticed? Why can't I see it until its too late and by then I have this big roll of fat hanging over my pants? Then when I finally accept the fact that its really there and I have have to do something about it, why does it stick to me like glue and I can't get rid of it?And the biggest question; WHY JUST BECAUSE I"M OVER 50 DOES IT HAVE TO BE SO HARD?Seriously, I think about this a lot, to me, fat is a fascinating subject.I have a Eastern Nutrition class and each of us is to pick a topic to write a paper about, and the

Daisy's Bling Bling.....
2007-11-07 14:56:00
There are some days during my recent life where I wonder; what would of it been like to have children, and I often speculate weather or not I would have been a good mother.Today is one of those days that I got some insight to that particular question...My friend Susan gave me two dogie designer t-shirts for Daisy and Pinkerton. Both shirts are black with white rhinestones that say "Bling Bling", how cute right? Its cold here today, so I thought this might be a good time to put on the new outfits to help them stay warm, plus I thought I would take some pictures and show off their new gift to Susan as gratitude.First, I slipped on Pinky's. He of course just laid there and let me have my way, as he looked adoringly into my my eyes, because I can do no wrong according to Pinky, I am his love object. Then it was Daisy's turn....she had been sleeping in one of the twenty five dog beds that I have around the house, so maybe this was was not a good time, but I was determined that I would hav

Things that make you go hmmmm.....
2007-11-14 10:41:00
I have been working with small dogs that have a disease called Collapsed Trachea. I started out using a formula recommended by a very well known veterinarian to treat this very sad disease and its not working for them, and I am having to modify the formulas to find a better remedy. This disease usually strikes older small dog breeds. It causes these dogs to go into spasms of coughing when they get excited or when they drink water. It gets so bad, that eventually they can't breath at all.Just the other day, I received an unusual request from a woman that had a ten month and one year old Yorkies. Her little babies were experiencing the symptoms of Collapsed Trachea. I thought at the time of how unusual this was, because these were just puppies.I called her to about her case and to do a review of the symptoms. A couple of things jumped out at me.These little dogs had been recently heavily vaccinated, and even more recently, they had just had the boosters for prevention of Kennel Cough.I

What's Pinky Licking?and Day 3.....
2007-11-21 19:19:00
Click to enlarge!I snapped this picture of Pinky licking the wall as they were lounging the other day.....Click to enlarge to see what he's doin'.....what a character.Today is the end of day three....I have one word for this diet; BRUTAL.However if you can withstand the total blandness of the menu, its not that bad as far as hunger, but your body is definitely freaking out by this time, which is now the end of day three.Today was veggies and soup...I cheated and had a tiny bit of fruit, an apple and two small tangerines, I might have died if I didn't do it.Tomorrow will be interesting; all the non fat milk I want to drink and three bananas... along with that soup that I am starting to hate.See I think this diet is structured for very heavy people who do not exercise, so that's why I feel like my back is about to break...I went shopping today, and I fit into size 4's and 6's although the 6's were a wee big large. Clearly this diet is doing the job and I am pretty sure that I wi

Stuck NO MORE
2007-11-20 23:15:00
Today is the end of the second day of this last resort diet technique. I have to say that it is working like a charm and I am stuck no more!Saw Aunt Sally today, and she was wowed at the difference. She said my videos are not doing me justice... she loves me because shes my aunt...bless her!Yesterday was day one.....only soup and fruit....no problem.Today, only the soup and fruits and veggies... a treat of a baked potato with butter ...yummyIt was pretty extreme earlier before the potato, but I made it through.Tomorrow is going to be tough, only soup and veggies, no fruit. What's very interesting is that the diet does take out extra fluids, and thats what its designed to do. Water is streaming out of my body, my hips and abs are deflating..hurray!I think it is giving the Liver a holiday, and letting it do minimal work. Its somewhat like a cleanse.Okay.....tomorrow is day three! wowzer....wish me luck!I included a pretty daisy picture....isn't she just the cutest?

Sunday Weigh In and Day One
2007-11-19 08:32:00
Before I get started I wanted to make it clear that I do see improvements because just looking at my first video shows me that. But I am determined to get svelte hips and legs and I am far from that!I have always been "thick" and to be where I want to be, I have to get much more defined. So I need a plan and I decided to follow my own philosophy which is to rid my body of that "sticky phlegm and damp".To do this I went to the store and bought all the ingredients to my rapid fat loss soup that I have featured on this blog a few times before. This is a diet that they give to people who are going to have surgery but need to lose fast weight before they can operate. Okay....It says I have to give up my coffee and diet soda.....NOPE can't give up my coffee, but I will forgo my diet soda....eeeeek!Day One (today): I can eat all the soup I want and all the fruit my heart desires. So whats in this soup? Basically nothing by chicken stock, mushrooms, and lots of green vegetables and a few spi

Weigh In Sunday and Pictures of Us
2007-11-25 19:50:00
I can't believe it....I am now into week ten of my weigh in Sunday s and I have only two more to go.Last week I took on drastic measures...I cut out my diet cokes, I went to eating just the special cabbage soup and then a little later in the week I just added chicken to the menu. There was a little fruit along the way, but all in all it was a damn HARD week.I did slip a bit on Thanksgiving and thats only because Jose was whispering in my ear as to how moist and utterly delicious the chocolate cupcakes were, and not to mention his dissertation about the banana nut bread frosting.I cracked....and I knew he was doing it on purpose, he's like the Pied Piper, he loves to have people follow down the road through gluttony land. But I think I honestly held my ground pretty good and ONLY had three measly pieces of banana bread and ONLY two cupcakes (which I wolfed down in less then three minutes). Compared to Thanksgivings of the past , I would consider this one a "piece of cake" HA!

I'm Sorry...
2007-11-23 19:29:00
I had to post this picture....it was too funny to pass up and anyway; For the first time in a very long time...I saw someone who piqued my dwindling interest where the where the opposite sex is concerned.I'm not sure why its become so diminished, perhaps it's because of that failed past relationship which absolutely broke my heart.Or maybe its because now I'm at the end of the most current five year relationship which went absolutely nowhere and was a complete and utter drag.....And just maybe perhaps at the end of the day; I've just given up thinkin' there's anyone out there suitable or that can meet my own particular needs.I believe that it's because most women of my age group have been aging gracefully with someone they met at a much younger age.But not to digress because that topic is for another blog, today my point is...I actually saw and met a very desirable man.So alright maybe he doesn't qualify as my "perfect mate" because:First of all he's not age appropriat

Love
2007-12-02 21:24:00
This is a video of my young friend Michele and her new boyfriend Mike, whom she just met on her vacation to Hawaii while visiting her brother and sister in-law.Ohhhh my.....This is so romantic.Michele is picking up and high tailing it out of Cali to make a new life, and she's doin' this by moving to Hawaii. She leaves us at the end of January.Michele has fallen in love (seven short days on a beautiful tropical island can do that to ya)and she is going to move to this new strange place to be with "her man" and live happily ever after.I remember those days, when I could get swept off my feet, and my world could get rocked... but not anymore, and I say it with a sigh of sadness.Ahhhhh to be young and in love again; if only to feel the sweet heady flow of estrogen, as well as that strong sexual attraction from those pheromones that are running amuck....Such is Love.......

A Scubby Dance
2007-12-01 13:25:00
I'm feeling really excited today and I feel like doing a Scubby Dance .Remember back when I posted a blog about the new formulas I had just sent out for the little dogs with the disease called Collapsed Trachea that were having trouble breathing?Well , I have two very nice things happen since I sent out that batch of modified formulas, which if you recall, were of my own design. To review, I made that particular batch of herbs in order to treat the cough that comes with that disease of Collapsed Trachea, but I formulated the herbs to treat the cough as if they had human Whooping Cough.Today I received a call from one of my dog patients owner whose name is Joe. He tells me that his Maggie has been 100% cured of her cough and he said it was a miracle. Joe thinks I should market the stuff and he was thrilled...how neat is that?Well, Joe was a smart man, because his dog's cough had not gotten as far as advanced as to cause the necrosis of the trachea. It is the dog owners that try anti

Blogging Buddies
2007-11-29 21:45:00
Lady Banana has passed on a new badge and it's call called Blogging Buddies ...It's been really nice to become part of a blogging community, thanks Lady Banana I appreciate it, I like these badges....It's a good thing that I have blogging pals, because I'm not sure if my other friend would consider me a good buddy at all. After making my list of "things that bug me" yesterday, I decided that I was tired of being annoyed, and that I needed to start removing some of those pesky issues from my life.So I thought a good place to start was to tell a friend that the reason I don't ever call her back, and that the reason that I obviously avoid her, is because all she wants to do, is talk about herself, and I find it incredibly Annoying. She appreciated my honesty and was glad to know the reason why I had been obviously ditching her and she acknowledged that she had indeed become very self absorbed recently. As we discussed why this self absorption had become so pathological, she admitte

Seven Things That Make Me Go Postal.....
2007-11-28 08:53:00
I was tagged by Lady Banana and Angel from Curious Animals. They've asked me to discuss 7 items that might be considered interesting about me and that others might find interesting or amusing. These two requests caused me a couple of days of concern, since all the things that I could think of that were fun and interesting should definitely not be written down on a public blog for future reference!I really didn't know what meming was until I looked it up. It's suppose to give a blogger the opportunity to talk about things that they may not have ordinarily had any reason to write about...So... That being said, I'm going to change the rules of this meme;I'm tired of nice...lets get down to what's really easy to talk about and that's the things that bug us the most.So what better then to talk about the things that really make me wanna go postal?(get it? the picture of the little dog?).Heres my list and I wanna let you know I enjoyed making it;#1) I get annoyed with people, particu

Something Really Nice
2007-11-27 22:28:00
I have been given a really pretty badge from JD who blogs at I Do Things so you don't have to....which is a very funny and witty blog about our day to day living and the short comings that we all seem to have in common with one another. This morning I happened to be doing my usual blog reading, which I love to do with my hot cup of steaming coffee....when I flipped on over to visit JD's blog. I was surprised to find that she had given me a blogger badge award....what a nice thing in which to start my morning, thanks JD!Here it is and what symbolizes; What does it mean to be one’s blog? According to MeAndMyDrum (who came up with the award and the colorful badges):"[it] really sums up what a successful blogger does. And what I mean by successful is that they make it their own, stay with it, are interactive with their readers, and just plain have fun."JD herself then goes on to gives this advise about our blogs, which I think is really so true and makes for an interesting blog for

Weighing In On Sunday....
2007-12-09 22:20:00
I'm off this week...and maybe even for the rest of the month. But I did pretty good and did not totally pig out over two birthday dinners. It seems I am starting to learn moderation...But I wanted to talk about these pictures....This is Jennifer Lynn Hewitt...not even sure who she is exactly. But the buzz on the Internet is that she is a fat girl with cellulite......There was a guy that posted a comment that said he is a woman lover, but that her ass grossed him out. I just wonder what that jack ass looked like naked...Okay, for her age, she is what I call skinny fat, which means that she is not toned, but she is not fat. I can't believe that these pictures were circulated to show all of her flaws. You have to wonder what things are coming to. Can you imagine what its like today to be a young woman, what they must live up to in order to be considered attractive? How about us that are "more mature"... here a young girl is getting torn apart for not presenting a perfect ass....where do w

Time Marches On....
2007-12-07 14:07:00
Today was my 52nd birthday. That sounds like a good many years...but really, I don't feel different from where I was, say 25 years ago. I'm healthy, I'm not losing my memory, my hair is not grey and I have been avoiding the dowdies....Ahhhhh, another year.......To now be 52 is somewhat like having an out of body experience. I feel like the years are marching on, but I've somehow been left behind somewhere in time, and I feel as if I need to catch up but my head is spinning.Where in the world does all that time go?I was born December 7, 1955. At one time that date did not sound like a long time ago because it was a youthful time, but now what can I say? Now my generation its becoming the years of "do you remember when.....?"Today my Aunt Sally forwarded this e-mail to me. I think it fit the day......Do you "remember the time when?";Those Born 1930-1979TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked

Sunday Weigh In and Pictures of Us
2007-12-04 18:18:00
I was just over on You Tube collecting my weigh in video URL and I had to laugh. I have 296 views from my last weight loss video. How funny.....Ohhh noo....I'm being viewed in my undies with all those holes. How will I ever meet Prince Charming under those circumstances?Whats new...I broke with tradition this week, and slipped on an old bathing suit. It was on the big side, so I look a little weird, along with the added shoes and socks because it was so damn cold this weekend. So don't laugh when I look so dorky.I stayed on the Weigh t Loss Soup Routine...I modified it and added lean meat to the recipe, which has made it a really easy way to continue to trim down. Here is the link if you would like the receipe and seven day programHere is a picture of the last batch...that's sea weed floating on the top...yum!I missed the show I was going to do...I am way too far out, and I needed another month. Usually there is a local show every month, but it is the holiday season, so I missed the

The Power of Fear
2007-12-19 18:43:00
Today I spent a nice morning with my mother. I actually got her out of her house and into a real restaurant for lunch. Usually when we get out, she can last a maximum of about 15 minutes at any one place, before she starts becoming twitchy and wanting to hit the nearest exit and head for home.Mom filled me in on the latest about my Aunt Patty.I blogged about her before, and that's when I told the story of her hanging up on me.Patty hung up and has not spoken to me since October, because as usual I was harassing her to stop smoking. I was telling her about the new city law that says smoking in the car with children is against the law. And I was asking her; Why would you continue to do something that is so obvioulsy WRONG and harmful to yourself and the dog you keep???? Click went the phone.I do this constantly because she has a horrible case of MS, and let me state the obvious; Smoking causes MS to get worse. No kidding!AND the reason I harass her is because she continues to smoke w

Just NOT right
2007-12-18 21:57:00
On his radio show yesterday, Rush Limbaugh asked, "Does our looks obsessed culture want to stare at an aging woman?" In his own words: So the question is this: Will this country want to actually watch a woman get older before their eyes on a daily basis?Come On...talking about her looks at another attempt to slander her? Can't everyone see that this is just another tactic to keep a woman from becoming the next President of the United States?I was talking to my mom last night, and we were discussing Hillary Clinton, and she too was regurgitating all the cable news buzz words that have been used to describe this woman.I said to her, "mom, regardless if you don't like her, don't you think she's competent to be president?"My mom answered "yes".Then I said to her, "If Hillary Clinton doesn't get get this chance, it will be decades before another woman has an opportunity to break through the glass ceiling. Isn't that enough to vote for her, when in fact it's really is a vote for

I think that my seaweed soup is a much better alternative to this weight loss option;VideoJug: How To Avoid The Alli "Oops!"How funny is that video anyway....I don't know if it is a spoof or if it is a real advertisement for the product. But the thing is, that it's taking out fat, but its not just the fat making people fat. Its the huge number of carbs that we Americans eat...or how about just the huge amount of food we consume in general.Alii only takes out 25% of the fat, thats about 400 calories a day, based on a 2000 calorie a day diet.It might help, but I'm pretty sure the side effects make it pretty uncomfortable to use...Yuck...

The Golden Rose Award
2007-12-17 12:08:00
Last week I received The Golden Rose Award from Angel over at Curious Animals.Today Angel has the cutest set of cat paw pictures, but then she always has unusal animal items....anyway she gave me this rose and that was very nice. Thanks Angel.Since it's the holdiays, and since it appears that there are only two of us who are single in my small blog world... I want to pass on the Golden Rose Award to Lone Chatelaine. At least we can give each other flowers!I love to read her blog because it is so nakedly honest, which makes me look forward to all of her new entries every day.Good job Lone Chatelaine.
