Is There Really An Xbox 360 Shortage?
2007-07-12 10:58:00
By Ron SwerdfigerIs there really an Xbox scarcity? Some websites are convinced that “the whole scarcity thing is faked to incite demand.” Microsoft CFO Chris Liddell recently said to the L.A. Times that Xbox 360 supply will not catch up with demand until the second half of the fiscal year, ending June 30. Liddell told Reuters that the company expects to see more gradual Xbox 360 sales rather than a launch spike as analysts have predicted. How big of a spike was he thinking? The original Xbox though not a financial success, changed the way we play games with new innovative features such as online gaming. The Xbox 360 will launch on November 22nd In North America. Microsoft expects to ship 4.5 - 5.5 million Xbox 360 consoles by June 2006.Here in Canada for example, almost all retailers were sold out of both core and premium bundle pre-order packages. Then last week, Futureshop.ca (online) announces that they will be selling 20 Xbox 360’s online everyday starting at midnight. Of cour

Helicopter Flash Game
2007-07-08 09:59:00
By Low JeremyWhen I typed in “helicopter flash game” to my favorite search engine, I thought I was into something high-tech. I thought I would have the chance to fly my favorite Blackhawk helicopter along with other helicopters I want to fly for free. But then, my hopes fade away when I saw what is up for me… A helicopter flash game that seems to be as old as the first video game created. What I saw was neither an RPG nor a simulator. I did not see any Blackhawk, Heuy, Comanche or Apache. I did not see anything that would spark a single interest that would make me feel like playing it. But what the fuss? I am on the site so made my very first click. And so the game began. At first I did not know how to make the helicopter fly. And since this was the case, the tiny helicopter on my screen that’s surrounded by neon green wall kept on falling down. I never read the instructions or the ‘how to play’ portion of the window since I was not planning to spend another minute with it. B

6-max Texas Limit Holdem: Pre-Flop Play
2007-07-07 23:51:00
By Chip WestleyPosition is even more important in 6-max play than in a normal full ring game. The 6-max variation is generally played more aggressively and the battle for control starts right from the beginning. You will encounter much less limping in because the pot odds for speculative hands are not likely to be there.Playing from the under the gun position (UTG), you will be in a raise or fold situation. Because of the smaller number of opponents and your tight table image, you will sometimes win the pot right there. Only play the strongest hands from the first position. Expect to be folding often. If you notice an opponent constantly limping in early that's an indication of a weak 6-max player. In the next position (EP2), you should play much the same. Only open with very strong hands and open with a raise. Be leery of cold calling an open raise from the UTG player. If the UTG limps in you have the option of 3-betting in an attempt to isolate the hand into a heads up match in which

Xbox 360 Racing Games
2007-06-17 08:16:00
By Michael RadA list of Xbox 360 racing games contains such familiar names like Need for Speed, NASCAR, Grand Theft Auto or Forza Motorsport but also names that you wouldn’t expect to see among these powerful racing games, like the Simpsons Hit & Run. A well deserved top place among all Xbox 360 racing games is reserved for Need for Speed Most Wanted. As you might expect the game is still all about solid racing but it has added options of car customization and the thrilling police chases keep you on the edge of your seat through the whole race.Another must for Xbox 360 racing games collectors is Burnout Revenge, well improved from the other games in the Burnout series it is certainly among the best racing games created recently. The speed and the thrill of the race remain unparalleled and the easy maneuvering makes it a favorite with all players. An internet search for www racing games will also reveal an exceptional off road experience among Xbox 360 racing games: the MX vs. ATV Unle

Xbox Catching Up in 2006
2007-05-12 21:48:00
By Chris RobertsonAlthough there was a delay in delivering the number of Xbox 360s that consumers demanded for the 2005 holiday season, Microsoft is expected to manufacture over 2 million of the gaming consoles in the first quarter of 2006. It's estimated that about 1 million Xbox 360s made it to stores in time for the holidays, so there's a pent-up demand for the console. In addition, reported bugs and cooling problems will likely be worked out in the near future. The Xbox isn't the only consumer electronic hitting the news these days. At the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show, a number of manufacturers of cell phones will be honored with innovation awards. For example, Firefly Mobile will be honored for their "Mobile Phone for Mobile Kids," which is specifically designed for tweens. In addition, Auvi Technologies will be presented an award for their innovative PHIP100 VoIP-enabled cordless speakerphone with a built-in webcam.CES will also honor a number of innovative computer manufactu

A Shopping Comparison: Xbox 360 and Playstation 3
2007-05-12 07:18:00
By Chris RobertsonProducts such as Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's Playstation 3 have grabbed undeniable attention in the consumer electronics market. During holidays, birthdays and other occasions, parents rush out to get the latest games or consoles to give as gifts to their children. But unlike more general products and gifts such as handbags, items for pets, household products, knives or leather goods, the electronics products such as these often come with an ongoing price tag, with new games being released indefinitely. That's why consumers should compare these products carefully before buying.A Power ComparisonElectronics can be compared in several areas, with one being power. The Xbox 360 overwhelmingly surpasses the Playstation 3 when it comes to power. Its CPU (central processing unit) and GPU (graphics processing unit) have more processing power than the PS 3. The memory bandwidth of the Xbox 360 exceeds that of the Playstation 3 by five times! However, don't let the power

Create Computer Games - Get Started on Creating Your Own Virtual Worlds
2007-05-11 06:26:00
By Daniel PunchI’ve always loved video games, ever since I first played them on a friend’s computer in the afternoon after elementary school. There’s something almost magical about the fact that we can move images around and interact with virtual worlds, a living fantasy presented for us to interact with however we please. I’ve also always wanted to make games myself but, until recently, didn’t have the technical knowledge to do so. Now, I’m a second year software engineering student, so if I weren’t able to code a game without too many dramas there’d be something drastically wrong. But what about the common person: the person for whom the term ‘memory leak’ conjures up images of their grandfather, ‘pipeline’ is where the water flows, and ‘blitting’ is unheard of? Well, everyone can get in on the game creation process, and you don’t even need to learn ‘real’ programming to do so.So where do games start? With an idea. Games , like all fiction, require an

Review: Samurai Jack -- Code of the Samurai
2007-05-11 00:17:00
By Kristin JohnsonFans of Genndy Tartakovsky's "Samurai Jack," which wrapped last year on the Cartoon Network, enjoy the quirky storytelling and stunning visuals, also the martial arts sequences. Naturally, it was only a matter of time before the online gaming industry turned the time-traveling samurai's adventures into video games.I haven't tried any of the games available for gaming console systems, confining my efforts instead to Cartoon Network's own Web Site. Its Games section features six games based on "Samurai Jack," including "The Way of the Warrior," in which the young samurai trains through several simulations for his eventual battle with the shape-shifting evil sorcerer Aku (deliciously voiced by veteran actor Mako in the series and console games). The other games invariably feature Jack battling Aku's minions--robots, beetle insects, and the like. Two of the games feature a final showdown with Aku."Code of the Samurai" was a tie-in with a Samurai Jack marathon, so when

Mom Saved By Video Game Rental - Time and Money Saved!
2007-05-09 05:27:00
By Sue CalhounVideo game rental is the single best way to try video games before you buy. Just like movie rentals, video games are available to rent from many or most movie rental companies, along with some game stores and online as well. The big problem with renting form a local store, though, is that they rarely have a good selection, and it can be very expensive.Online video game rental is the ultimate in convenience and cost savings. Video game rental means you don't have to buy a game for $30 or more, but you can try games before buying to make sure it's a game you want to keep.As a parent, online video game rental was a godsend. Our gamer at home was about 6 years old at the time we bought the GameCube. We had no idea about content of games or which games were any good, video game rental was a great way to go. I wanted to make sure I could view games before I let my son play them. I wanted to make sure they weren't to violent, or moronic, or frightening. It turned out to be a g

MMORPG and Real Life
2007-05-08 10:03:00
By Keith LondrieEvery form of art tries to capture life and its flavor. Along with the evolution of technology, computer games are now state of the art masterpieces. Behind a successful complex game, there is a team of graphical artists, programmers, scenario writers and so on. Because of their great resemblance with reality, games we play today reveal to us a world of fantasy, sensations and experiences far beyond everyday life.MMORPG ’s are at high stake these days. These games became a billion dollar industry these days thanks to the great number of players out there. What makes these games so popular is the simple fact that the player can be whatever he wants in that game. He can gain power far beyond his ordinary powers, he can have money or possessions, or he can rule that virtual fantasy world. We must admit that these games can possess the player’s mind. At first, the game is a pleasure but in many cases, the players become obsessed with it especially if it is a great game. T

Copying Xbox Games
2007-05-08 00:40:00
By Terry DunnThere really is no shortcut to copying XBOX games. In fact, this is a mightily complicated process and has stumped some really techie people. This is evident with the prevalence of the question on copying XBOX games in Internet message boards and tech chat rooms. But why does one need to be going about there and copying XBOX games? Is this not legal? If you have an XBOX and you have purchased original games to play on it, chances are you must have ran through a huge chunk of your savings. Original games are very expensive and because CDs are not exactly immortal, you can eventually wear out a game especially if you use it every minute of the day.To give value to consumers, most countries allow original CD buyers to make back-up copies of their XBOX games in case their original got damaged or got lost provided that they are aware of the law against pirated software and that they actually own an original cd and are only copying XBOX games for their personal use only. While it

Do You Know What a MMORPG Is?
2007-05-07 08:13:00
By Keith LondrieFor those who wonder what MMORPG is, the title stands for: Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. Nowadays MMORPGs are so popular that people become addicted to them, we all heard of all those people who died playing online games.RPG games were first introduced around the year 1970 when people didn't play them on computers but the old style way with a piece of paper, a board and dice. When computers became popular so did the computer RPG games. We can name a few which took part of our childhood: Dungeons and Dragons, Ultima, Might and Magic, Pool of Radiance, Quest for Glory, etc.Nowadays RPGs evolved, you don't play them in DOS mode anymore, they have almost real landscapes and you can play them with your friends from all over the world. What a MMORPG usually does is to recreate your world in a fantasy like world where you can be whatever you want. Although these games are fun, some people take their character too serious and the risk of affecting their real

Let's Play, What's Your Addiction?
2007-05-07 03:17:00
By Jeffrey HauserWe may not all be candidates for AA or GA, but we do have our little quirks. Some may refer to them as habits, others may look at them as favorite things to do. But if we call them an addiction, that has an inference with negative connotations. This is an “addiction” according to the New American Heritage Dictionary:1.Compulsive physiological and psychological need for a habit-forming substance: a drug used in the treatment of heroin addiction.2.An instance of this: a person with multiple chemical addictions.3.The condition of being habitually or compulsively occupied with or involved in something.4.An instance of this: had an addiction for fast cars.Now. Is that so bad? Okay, I would admit that substance abuse is not the ideal addiction but what about online poker, without any money being waged? Or reading romance novels, exercise, or chewing gum? Not all addictions cost us time or money. Some can be simple, yet compelling. How many Americans can’t start their d

The Realism of Video Games
2007-05-06 21:46:00
By Micheal ColeyRemember the good old days of video games? Funny and imaginative characters would embark on a funny and imaginative adventure in a funny and imaginative world. Those simple and harmless days seem to be ancient history today. Today, many video games created for the Xbox 360 use real world events as their source of inspiration. Video games used to be a diversion from reality, and now, they are another window into it. And, that can either be a good thing or a bad thing.Take a look at one of the most popular video game franchises in history: Super Mario Bros. A plumber falls through a pipe and enters a world where he must rescue a princess, defeat and evil monster and navigate a world full of mushrooms, blocks, question marks and goombas. No matter how imaginative one's imagination could be, there is simply no way that such an occurrence could happen in this world, like, for real. So, the illusion of the game remains intact. Now, if you look at today's video games for popu

Online Game Rentals - What You Want To Consider?
2007-05-05 09:06:00
By John HinkleyThe sale of video games in the United States have once reached the peak of $12.5 billion in 2006. However, not everyone can afford to buy each and every new game introduced, especially when new versions and new games are developed at skyrocketing rates. Some people simply don't want to pay these prices. Most cost conscious people will start to rent games. Even storefront game rental venues still haven't met the consumers' need, not to mention having some drawbacks of their own. So online game rental companies have come into existence and the competition begins.Regarding the price, the availability of old and new games, plus the deliveries and customer service, online game rentals seem to be the all time winner over storefront rentals. There's no surprise that more and more gamers turn to them.Though online rental companies can be found almost everywhere and any time, there are certain things to consider when choosing a rental company. Besides the rental price, we shou

The Evolution of Video Game Characters
2007-05-05 07:22:00
By Freddy MasonThe early days of video games featured Pong: a square ball bouncing back & forth between to rectangles. It was a very simple concept that anyone could literally figure out within seconds. With Pong, there was no characters to root for, no villains to cheer against and no plot or story to conclude either. While Pong was a nice recreational distraction and diversion from the boredom of everyday life - and back then, Pong was a big deal - there was no real vested interest in the game once the video game system was shut off. That is to say, Pong was just a game. Nothing more, nothing less.Fast forward to today, and video games are much more than simply something to play. Video games today are events, stories and lives to take interest in and be a part of too. Like the games themselves, the characters which inhabit these games have grown over the years. While the erstwhile plumber was cute, he wasn't really endearing. He didn't talk or speak much, he wasn't very expressive

Appearing To Run Slow

By Jesse MillerIf your computer appears to be running slower than normal, takes longer to load programs, or freezes and shuts down randomly, then chances are it is infected with adware. WoW Guide - Becoming Addicted to an Online Game
2007-05-03 04:30:00
By Lisa WimesYes, even gamers have the same needs as every other person: a social life, fun stuff and regular day to day stuff like attending school or working at a day to day job. Normally someone plays a game just to get a break of the daily routine, just to relax. One might watch some TV in the evening, watch their favourite series on their computer, yet others take the risk of giving WoW a try. That’s where it all starts... You start playing because you’re just plain bored, but a few days later you’ll find yourself being totally sucked into the game, not allowing yourself to do anything other in your spare time.New players often underestimate the exact type of game which WoW is, and even more important: the time it actually takes to accomplish something in the digital world. They go online to finish just a quest or two, but end up playing way longer than intended. Blizzard obviously did a great job when it comes to creating both a balanced and addictive game play. One Leap Ahead of Other Games: XboX 360 Graphics
2007-07-15 07:06:00
By Robbie DarmonaXbox 360 is sure to be the most innovative product of nowadays’ gaming technology. With its striking qualities and design, it has become the long desired dose for all game addicts. What tends to be the most magnificent feature in XboX 360, is physics. Technological advances in physics on XboX 360 are significant. The effects are overpowering and the physics simulation is closer to reality than it has ever been with other XboX versions before. What is more, many effects are allowed to happen simultaneously, which adds to the feeling of reality. XboX 360 has another priority over other games: namely, the wireless. The wireless controller has the same speed as the wired one, and the wireless networking connects you with other players no matter where you arе. The XboX 360 Memory Unit now inserts straight into the console itself, not into the controller. Moreover, the headset cable plugs directly into the controller. Release Date Of the Xbox 360
2007-07-15 03:08:00
By Ron SwerdfigerAccording to a recent news article at CNN, the Xbox 360 will be going on sale on November 22, 2005 in North America. There is a lot of speculation that the shipments of the new next generation console will be lower then expected. The expected first shipment was allegdly said to be 2-Million units, but Bank of America's Gary Cooper says that number maybe be even lower at anywhere from 1.4 to 1.6 Million units. What does this mean? It means that getting a new Xbox 360 will be even harder then you think and the price is more then likely going to be more then what it was first said to be.Here is quote fromt he CNN article regarding this issue:"Complicating matters is Microsoft's plan for a worldwide launch of the 360. That means those initial shipments, whatever they turn out to be, will be split between North America, Europe and Japan. McNealy said he expects Microsoft to send roughly 900,000 to 1 million units to North American retailers, 600,000-800,000 to Europe and

Running Linux On The PlayStation 3 Console
2007-07-14 10:11:00
By Darren LinternOne of the many features of the PlayStation 3 is that it's capable of using Linux , which means that owners of the PS3 can customize their system and get lots more out of it. Game consoles tend to be designed in order to prevent foreign systems from running on them, but Sony have gone in total the opposite direction with the PS3, allowing an experienced Linux user to personalize their system. Most of the gaming systems will be intentionally locked so that other systems will be unable to run, so the PlayStation is unconventional in allowing this. The only thing that is not possible with the PS3 is to run accelerated graphics. The PlayStation 3 isn't the first gaming system to allow Linux. The Xbox also utilizes this feature, but the PS3 differs in several ways. To start with, the PS3 is more powerful. In addition, the Xbox requires an additional chip to run Linux, whereas the PS3 is capable of running it without. In fact, it's completely free to run Linux on the PlaySt

Warning: PlayStation 3 Distributor Caution
2007-07-14 00:33:00
By Joaquin ReveronSupposed distributors of the PlayStation 3 are popping up across the internet. But many of them are very dubious in their origins. Who can you trust, and who should you avoid? One of the golden rules of shopping applies here: if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Treat any distributor claiming to offer advance order of wholesale-priced Playstation 3 with the contempt they deserve, and keep your money well away from them. The PS3 market is a particular minefield. In principle, it sounds as though it makes sense: everybody knows the PlayStation 3 is going to be sold out almost as soon as it arrives, so why not pay in advance to get to the queue?Well, that is how it would work if all the distributors were honest. But some have been offering orders that are not worth the investment they are written on. They have been selling advance promises of delivery that are not been guaranteed by Sony. That means if you order in advance from any high priced gaming distributo
