A table of information representing various physical constants and a few conversion factors among SI units is presented in the test book. New challenges for GRE aspirants
2007-10-11 11:16:00
With the new pattern of the GRE coming into effect from November 2007, those who aspire to study abroad have to work harder, finds Debasmita Ghosh It is common knowledge that the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) tests the aptitude of students aspiring for graduate studies abroad, through a series of questions on verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking and analytical writing. The question pattern has been the same for the GRE since 2002, but candidates who are planning to appear for it this November might just encounter a few changes in the pattern. In future, these changes might significantly affect a candidate’s final score, though right now they are only aimed at analysing students’ adaptability and feedback. These changes are as under:Changing patternsThe three sections, namely verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and analytical writing section still exist. Some fresh question types have been added to two sections. For instance, the verbal reaso

Quotations by Rabindranath Tagore
2007-09-18 13:04:00
Rabindranath Tagore, also known by the sobriquet Gurudev, was born in Calcutta, India into a wealthy Brahmin family. He was a Bengali poet, Brahmo Samaj philosopher, visual artist, playwright, novelist, and composer whose works reshaped Bengali literature and music in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A cultural icon of Bengal and India, he became Asia’s first Nobel laureate when he won the 1913 Nobel Prize in Literature. Tagore’s works included Gitanjali (Song Offerings), Gora (Fair-Faced), and Ghare-Baire (The Home and the World). His verse, short stories, and novels - many defined by rhythmic lyricism, colloquial language, meditative naturalism, and philosophical contemplation - received worldwide acclaim. Tagore was also a cultural reformer and polymath who modernised Bangla art by rejecting strictures binding it to classical Indian forms. Two songs from his rabindrasangeet canon are now the national anthems of Bangladesh and India: the Amar Shonar Bangla and the

2007-09-18 12:59:00
You know the names of all 50 states but do you know where any of them come from? Here’s the best information we could find on the origin of each 1. ALABAMA: Possibly from the Creek Indian word alibamo, meaning “we stay here”. 2. ALASKA: From the Aleutian word alakshak, which means “great lands,” or “land that is not an island”. 3. ARIZONA: Taken either from the Pima Indian words ali shonak, meaning “little spring,” or from the Aztec word arizuma, meaning “silver-bearing”. 4. ARKANSAS: The French somehow coined it from the name of the Siouan Quapaw tribe. 5. CALIFORNIA: According to one theory, Spanish settlers names it after a utopian society described in a popular 16th-century novel called Serged de Esplandian. 6. COLORADO: Means “red” in Spanish. The name was originally applied to the Colorado River, whose waters are reddish with canyon clay. 7. CONNECTICUT: Taken from the Moh

Many of you who are this blog might be in quest of good English Vocabulary or fluency in speaking. The English language testing exams such as TOEFL and IELTS need good speaking scores especially for those who need T.A or R.A When we come to the speaking part its most difficult section for the non - native speakers of English , because it involves whole lot of factors such as good pronunciation , proper syllable stress etc ..which in general we don’t follow in our general conversations.
