Midweekpost Candy
2006-10-20 04:41:00
I'm afflicted with a disease called Info-Overload-itis. I can't get enough information into my massively proportioned head. The problem is I don't share enough, so I thought I'd throw a few things out there for you to click and look at. I came across these this morning... I'll try and share more often.Internet SiteMs. Dewey is a search site that gives you a little personal touch to web searching. She's kind of fun to watch and it's always nice to get some 'tude thrown your way. Pretty interesting.Food:Snack Size Deep-Fryer... Anyway, I'll spare you the details of my gabbing let you all get right onto the photos. Link to Photo Set Link to Slideshow p.s. Audi R8 Commercial And My Drool
2006-10-11 16:28:00
On my way to work I walked right up to a commercial being filmed for the new Audi R8. I can't say much about it besides the fact that the car is the hotness and I drooled for about 15 minutes. Then I drooled 15 more minutes as they filmed the car revving up it's engines next to a classic and modern Audi racecar. The police had blocked off a few blocks on Park Avenue for the commercial and all I managed to snap off was this shot from a couple of angles. It's at moments like these when I realize I really am a car addict. I didn't even need coffee this morning (gasp!). Here's another angle of the car unfettered by ugly new york mugs.

No Wine but Good Time (s)
2006-10-08 18:12:00
IMG_3000.JPG Originally uploaded by midweekpost. When I saw this photo from dinner the other night in Knoxville I almost couldn't fathom the fact that all these guys (sans the Korean guy second from the right) are married. For a minute there I thought this photo was just an older one from college when we were all carefree college bums with no care except for what the next meal was going to be. Either way, it was good to see the fellows and their wives. I don't know why we didn't take a pic with everyone in it. I think it was the fact that we were all Oh'deeing on carbs. My goat cheese stuffed filet mignon with crisp asparagus might've been the atkins way out but it still made me smile. Bags at 1 o'clock AM in Washington DC

At wit's and again. But this time in Washington D.C. I just went there and back in one night to pick up my doppelganger/brother/friend J. Sohn (you may know him as the co-writer on Fulmer's Belly.com, but I just know him as the guy I picked up at 1 o'clock AM in Washington D.C., omg I'm worn out.

Tater Tots, Oh How I Long For You
2006-10-06 16:21:00
It was brought to my attention the other day that there is a sad phenomenon occuring in this day and age. A phenomenon of such massive proportions that it was deserving of a post. What is this particular calamity you ask?Well, it's as simple as this: Where are all the tater tots?Hopefully your answer is not: The $1.05 high school lunch.[topic courtesy S. Knight ]

Financial Planning, Yang Style
2006-10-05 20:49:00
I call it The One-TenFirst things first, this plan isn't designed to make you a Daddy Warbucks in like five days, but it's what I have devised around my lifestyle and it will net me a hefty chunk of Scrooge McDuck Vault Filler (aka: cash) by the time I'm 59.5 years old, the legal age in which you can withdraw your 401k without penalty.401k's or Roth IRA'a are a stroke of genius due to the joy of compounding interest. Not having one is complete lunacy. Anyone with a half-way decent income who starts saving in their mid twenties will clear 1 million + by the time they reach an age where retiremen is an option. Not too long ago when I realized that money is one of those necessary evils I came to understand how important savings was in the grand scheme of life. That said, you should have full faith in a savings plan such as a income tax sheltered IRA or your company's 401k plan. I have so much faith that I'm trying to contribute three to four times what the Motley Fool chart below is

Wednesday Factoid: Dumb Laws
2006-10-04 22:23:00
Here's a little fun factoid for you along the lines of dumb laws: New York: - It is laws that while riding in an elevator, one must talk to no one, and fold his hands while looking toward the door.- The penalty for jumping off a building is death. Tennessee: - One cannot shoot any game other than whales from a moving automobile.- It is illegal to use a lasso to catch a fish.

Me, My Car and a Bike Path
2006-10-04 19:59:55
09-09-06_1315.jpg Originally uploaded by midweekpost. Yes. The title should say it all. The other day on the way to golf (again), I found myself driving along all Ms. Daisy style when suddenly my passenger (Mr. Tuttle himself) made the blunt comment, "Yang... you're on the f*&%#ing bike path!"I really couldn't figure out how I managed to get myself and a 1.5 ton vehicle up on the bike path, much less all the way across the Queensboro Bridge without incident. Let's just say it's a good thing I had a small car and that there was no one there to throw me in jail for: endangering public safety on pedestrian and bicycle bridge path.(I keep forgetting about all these gems I have stored on my phone, there're plenty more)

One Shady Hotel Room - The Phillipsburg inn
2006-10-04 19:47:19
09-28-06_2337.jpg Originally uploaded by midweekpost. Some of you may know that I hydroplaned my car off the interstate on my way home last Friday. Barrel of laughs, I promise... Anyway, here's a shot of the shady Phillipsburg Inn (which I hear was a front-runner for the set of The Shining). The camera phone has terrible quality but I promise you that the lighting/colors were just as eerie in reality. At least the bed had cardboard sheets.

Hydroplaning in Jersey = Not Fun.
2006-09-30 05:59:00
So, I just got to Knoxville about a couple of hours ago. The trip wasn't too eventful except for the fact that I hydroplaned right off Interstate 78 and found myself on the shoulder. That was fun. I love almost dying. Well, it just goes to show that one can never really get their tires replaced too quickly when they're starting to show age (especially Z-rated ones...). I'll have to get more details later and show you the place I ended up staying at to wait out the storm... the Phillipsburg Inn, aka a former HoJo. It was a hoot.

Photos From The Phone
2006-09-27 18:31:00
I uploaded a bunch of photos I had taken on my phone that I've been meaning to share. So many of them deserve a story or a post altogether. I thought I'd throw a few random ones up. Man... the RAZR's camera is miserable. Clockwise: Bradley H. and his dad rockin' it out on the cellies at Sarge's Diner here in New York; A view of West Palm Beach, FL from the plane; My remnants of a Martini at the W Hotel bar in midtown; Kickin' it in the back of a plane on my way back from some trip.

Hell's Kitchen, Central Park and Boddington's
2006-09-25 05:40:00
Had some time to work on a few photos this weekend. That, and my golf swing but the photos are something you can at least see. In my ongoing quest to show you every stinking corner of New York City thru my camera lens I give you, Hell's Kitchen (aka: Clinton or Midtown West) as seen from the 14th floor of the Hearst Tower. Here's another view of the boat pond in Central Park from a couple of weekends ago. The girls are standing on Bow Bridge which is another one of those "Set in New York Movie" staples. I'm pretty sure we were just discussing how crazy green the water is. If you Click Here you can see a similar angle from the movie, "Keeping the Faith" which, by the way, is one of my all time top 10 movies. And on a side note: I made it to this bar called the No Malice Palace on Friday. I've gotta say that it's probably one of the most original names for a bar I've heard lately. It gets the Yang seal of approval. I wish I hadn't been a putz and forgot to take some photos but I thi

Weight Watchers - Eric Yang gets 24 points.
2006-09-21 19:57:00
Today I had overheard an office convo over Weight Watchers points and to be honest I've always kind of wondered what my average (read: weekday; read further: yesterday) daily consumption of food calculates out to. So like any warm blooded New Yorker, I interruped the conversation and we figure it out. Now I'm going to share the good word with you:Breakfast:Small cup of Oatmeal - 2pts.Large Cup of Coffee with Skim Milk - 1 pt.LunchCosi Wasabi Roast Beef sandwich with Sesame Ginger on Whole Grain Flatbread - 12pts (yikes)Water/Diet Soda - 0 pts.Black & White Cookie - 3 pts.DinnerMaki Sushi (2 orders/8 pieces) - 4 pts.Soba Noodles & Half cup of sauce - 6 pts. That tallies up to 28 points in one day. Hoorah, oh wait - I only get 24 points in my 'weight category'. Oh well, I guess it's out with the cookie. Damn you Seinfeld for making me love the Black & White cookie so much. Oh wait, look here, it says I get an extra 35 bonus points to use over the week. Well well well...p.s. Happy Bir

Melissa Hsieh, Esq.
2006-10-28 01:19:00
Yowza, what a day. I just got a text from my sister (yes, sister - you heard read me right) Melissa Hsieh, who is now officially, Melissa S. Hsish, Esq. Actually, I don't really know the proper addressing of a lawyer. Is it Esq., Esquire, Goodwife? Either way, I can't think of anytime I'll be hearing from two people telling me the same day that they're officially lawyers in their respective states but today is evidently that day. And to think, that all I did today was get a free cuban sandwich for lunch. Anyone else out there officially becoming a laywer today? Anyone out there maybe having a cuban sandwich? If so, let me know - either way.

Mr. Ahmad, Esq.
2006-10-27 17:22:00
Well, congratulations are in order to my lifelong compadre Aziz Ahmad who is now officially Aziz Ahmad, Esquire. I must say that between the legions of friends that I have who are or are becoming lawyers and doctors, I'm going to be one damn well protected Korean. Too bad I can't reciprocate with anything more worthwhile than a blog post, or some hair gel.

The Four-Hundreth Post
2006-10-27 04:02:00
On the Piano Originally uploaded by midweekpost. So this post is an interesting one. It's the 400th post since I made midweekpost a blog. I know... 400. That's only three hundred and ninety-nine more than I ever thought I'd do on a blog. Anyway, that info probably isn't reason to break out the Dom Perignon (as tasty as that sounds) but I thought it worthy of a post. Anyway, in typical fashion I thought I'd give you a list: My 10 Favorite Things of October 10. Ordering hot coffee for the first time since last winter9. Argyle socks, maybe an argyle sweater8. Breaking out the blazers7. Hair Gel - oh yeah, it still rocks my face off6. Craps... maybe 1-2 no limit Texas hold 'em5. Brunch4. Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip3. Bulldogs (not The Bulldogs, a bulldog)2. The new job1. Poundin' the keys on a finely tuned grand piano

A New Boot
2006-10-25 19:46:00
I'm notorious for twisting / turning / spraining / unhinging my ankle - especially my left one. The other day I twisted my ankle just walking on flat ground. I don't know how I managed to do it but I collapsed like a toothpick. It was fantastic for my manlihood, I promise.Anyway, I took a recommendation from my dad to get myself some dignity or a high-top sneaker and since I'm not cool enough to pull off LA Gear I sprung for a leather boot. No, not any weirdo S&M kind but a Skechers one. If Carrie Underwood can rock Skechers, by god, so can I.

Halloween Masquerade Ball, New York Style
2006-10-30 18:27:00
IMG_3634.JPG Originally uploaded by midweekpost. I've been to some halloween bashes in my life. Some wild and some tame but this is the first one I've been a part of here in New York and it was one rockin shindig. Hell, it's actually my first October in New York so that might have something to do with it but this one sets the bar at a comfy stratospheric level. Anyway, I was asked to do a photoshoot of the soiree and despite the difficult lighting the photos turned out well (seriously, I have no bias whatsoever). By the end of the night I wouldnt have minded being on the other side of the camera but hey, someone's gotta do it right? Just as an FYI - some of the photos are a bit, ahem, risque especially further on in the set, so you might want to run thru them or the set link before sending them off to the parents and grandparents... Happy Halloween
2006-10-31 20:47:00
I'm not wearing a costume. I'm not wearing anything orange. I don't have a pumpkin carved or candy to give out to little New York kiddies so one wouldn't think I'm really in a festive mood but I am. By the way, I pinched a nerve in my neck last night and am pratically useless unless I'm looking directly forward. Good thing my seat swivels and rolls, because it's really suave to roll around and swivel, really. Oh and "The Prestige" is well worth watching.
