Continental Buys Siemens VDO 2007-07-27 21:12:38 A friend working in in Penang wrote to me yesterday that his company Siemens
VDO is being bought over by tyre company Continental
AG. The deal is said to be worth about 11.4 billion euros. The merger between Siemens and Continental will create one of the largest suppliers in automotive electronics in the world.

As a Human Resources personnel, she is spot on. Salary is a Private & Confidential matters and not to be revealed to the prospective employers. In fact, an interviewer shouldn’t be asking how much the candidate earns even it is to be used for him or her to determine the salary to be offered.

Jobstreet.com Referral Programme - Time to Earn Part Time Income? 2007-07-31 04:04:23
In case you don’t know, Jobstreet.com used to have an affiliate program tailored to their Classified advertising product. In the program, you can promote people to advertise in Jobstreet.com website (classified ads) and in return get some money as a commission. Each referral will get an RM10 commission.
Payout is given when your commission reaches RM50 threshold. Good money for part time income. Unfortunately, for unknown reason, it was somehow taken down on April 2007 as put up in their referral program site. Since it is no longer available, why am I still bothering to talk about their referral program?

. The positions are based in their Penang plant. In the graduate attachment program, a group of technical graduates will undergo a 5 month training (2 months of class room and 3 months of on-the-job training (OJT). Mothers May Enjoy Flexible Work Scheme. 2007-08-02 21:11:46 According to yesterday’s news, the government is currently studying the proposal to allow new mothers to resign from work for a few years to focus on their kid’s development before joining the work force. The proposal was made by the Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak during the launching of the Women’s Summit 2007. According to the proposal the move could help to stop women workers with family commitment from retreating from the workforce.

is awarded to students who manage to gain admission to public or private university pursuing a full time degree course for the 2007 intake. The scholarship scheme comes with a bonding clause whereby the applicant must be willing to work with Bursa Malaysia for a certain number of years upon the completion of their studies. While certain people are not fond of scholarship bonding clause, you should look at it from the positive ways since your employment is already secured! How lucky.

UNIMAS Graduation Convo 2007-08-05 09:51:57 UNIMAS (Universiti Malaysia Sarawak) held its graduation ceremony on 4-5 August 2007 at UNIMAS Hall, UNIMAS, Kota Samarahan. The campus is located some 40 minutes drive from the Kuching town. I had a chance to attend the event even though I missed the scroll-giving event which lasted about 12pm (yes, I overslept.. so what it’s Sunday…).

Streamyx Down, Phone Down 2007-08-15 01:42:35 My TM phone line has been down since last Saturday, and so was my Streamyx. It is such a shame that I could not have many important updates up and running in a timely manner. It was back about 2 hours ago after 5 days of agonizing wait. What was supposed to be some busy days turned out to be a mid-week rambling. Apparently, my house was not the only one affected; somehow the faulty covers an area of 1km to 2km radius. Since my phone was out and my mobile cannot dial 100, a friend helped to report my case on behalf, and according to the TM rep who spoke to him, some underground cables were broken, or perhaps stolen.

Few days ago while browsing some of the bloggers’ writings, I stumbled upon Patric Chan’s blog writing. Actually I have been a follower of his blog and subscribed to his mailing list but this is the first time I was moved to write something about it.
Patric is a Malaysian guy who made his name abroad as a motivator and speaker and is perhaps more popular outside of his own country. In his quest to becoming what he is today, Patric has invested his time and money attending courses and seminars conducted by the likes of Anthony Robins and Robert Kiyosaki. Today, it is his turn to travel around the world and give talks and seminars to other people.

Chevening Scholarship for International Students 2007-08-12 22:41:55 The British Chevening Scholarship
s are offered to international students in 150 countries out of United Kingdom, including Malaysia. This is part of the effort to bring more students to gain experience getting education exposure in the UK and is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and administered by the British Council.
Awarded to over 2000 students annually, the scholarship is available for those pursuing Masters in established universities and colleges in United Kingdom on full time basis. To date, more than 1000 Malaysian students have benefited from the Chevening Scholarship Award since 1984.

” at the bottom of the job advertisements. I’ve been reading the same section over and over since buying the paper last Saturday but it was only today that I realize the Pos Malaysia advert.

The Intel Scholarship 2007-08-19 23:39:19 Intel Malaysia is opening an opportunity for eligible candidates to apply for scholarship who are currently pursuing full time student in a local university in a selected group of engineering courses (both undergraduates and postgraduates). The scholarships are valued at RM10,000 per year for undergraduate courses and RM13,000 per year for postgraduate courses. This is part of the give-back-to-the-society thingy, and Intel is not the first company which is doing this. They also get some tax break.
The application has been open for quite a while, but they’re still expecting more candidates to apply. They also put up a half page of advert in last Saturday’s The Star.
