Surgery Might Be an Option
2007-08-18 19:57:00
I’m fat and I’ve considered lap-band. I’ve done the diet thing, I’ve done the exercise thing. I’m considering the surgery thing. I haven’t talked to Tucker about it, but it’s definitely in the back of my mind. I’m going to keep with the exercise and calorie counting. I’m hoping that stopping the pill will help. But, if all else fails, I’ll definitely have to consider another option and lap-band will probably be it.

Where to Get the Best Hotel for Cheap
2007-08-18 19:50:00
Tucker and I have been going back and forth about whether or not I’m going back to Arkansas for Christmas. I don’t want to spend the first Christmas that Cara might remember away from Tucker. Another issue is where Cara and I would stay. I know that we could stay at The In-laws, but Mom might get jealous. If we stay at Mom’s, I’ll have to put up with all of the extended family for much longer than I care to. Anyway, I had reviewed Hotel reservations.com before at my Blogger blog and I decided to give them a shot at finding me decent hotel reservations. Just like before, I found a wide range of prices and accommodations. [even in small town Arkansas] I also like that I can package flights, car rental and hotel all in one just like some of the bigger sites. I just created a “vacation package” to Arkansas in about five minutes. I added a hotel, car and plane ticket and actually got a good deal. But, after seeing the price of the deal, I started wondering what kind of actual

Tutors Rule
2007-08-17 13:28:00
How many of you have tried helping your kids with their homework, only to find that you have no idea what is going on?I can remember [way] back to when I was a wee lass and asking my Mom for help. She would get frustrated, I would get frustrated...things would end badly.I wish now that I had had an innovative tutor to help me with my homework issues and to teach me how to study. If my mom had been able to find me some help back then, maybe I wouldn't have had such issues with studying once I got older.

PayPerPost Makes Cents
2007-08-16 15:05:00
You liked that didn't you? Get it? Makes cents.Ok...I'm done.PayPerPost is a great way to drive traffic to your site and to the advertiser's site; the proverbial two way street.I was purty darn happy at how easy it was to sign-up, and I'm running PayPerPost on both of my sites; I like them that much.Their customer service has been wonderful and very supportive. [kinda the point, no?]I had an issue with my account and I sent them an email. Honestly, I wasn't expecting to hear anything form them at all. So, I kept working on the issue myself. And, what do you know...within the hour, I had received a response. Talk about a quick turn-around.I know that there have been some negative feelings about getting paid for blogging. "Blogging should be for you. It shouldn't be marred by money". That's a load of crap.I love riding horses. I love cooking. I love writing. [stick with me...there's a point]Why is it OK for me to get paid for the first two things, but not the third? So,

I'm Cheap
2007-08-16 14:14:00
I don't like to pay full price for things. If I can save even a nickel, I consider it a good day.Basically, I'm cheap and CouponChief.com feeds my cheap needs. They have coupon codes for tons of different stores.Cara's birthday isn't too far away and don't even get me started about Christmas. She really needs some new clothes since she's outgrowing everything.I generally like things from The Children's Place and I was really surprised to find 15% off Children's Place coupons, free shipping and even 30% off sale items! Are you kidding me? How can you beat a sale of a sale?!With all of the toy recalls, I'm also in the market for some safe toys and the Discovery Channel Store coupons for up to 50% off toys is something I just can't pass up! 50%?!Gotta love that.

Sponsor a Walker
2007-08-23 19:15:00
After some considerable him hawing, I've decided to sponsor a friend of mine in the Memory Walk that's close to our house.Since 1989, the Alzheimer's Association has raised 225 million dollars! I have total faith that I will be giving to an amazing charity. It is going to be really simple to sponsor her. I found the team that she's a part of, I clicked on the link for that team and then searched for her name. Then, all I have to do is select one of the dollar amounts or make one of my own. So simple! But, what if there isn't a team near you? Start your own team and be the Team Captain! (Just make sure that you do it now so that you'll have time to build your team)As a Team Captain, you'll be responsible for recruiting members and organizing team events and meetings. You'll also be responsible for starting your website. Don't stress. The Alzheimer's Association walks you through everything.I'm bummed that I won't be walking myself. Cara likes her stroller, but she do

Transfer Those Balances!
2007-08-23 08:15:00
When I was younger, I did a lot of shopping. Most of that shopping was done with the assistance of my handy dandy credit card.As we all know, that interest adds up and I am always on the lookout for a low interest rate so that I can do a credit card balance transfer.Mint looks like a pretty good deal; I'll definitely have to check it out further.

Random Wednesday
2007-08-29 09:48:00
I'm feeling especially random today. So I thought that I'd list some random links that I think are great.#1 The video of Miss South Carolina and her response to "the map question"#2 The always adorable video of dog and chicks. :)#3 A great picture from my other website. That is all. More randomness to come I'm sure.

Cara found this hilarious and she required that I play it about thirty times.I would now like these adorable kittens to die a horrible death. But, I bet you'll still find the video funny...just don't let your kids see it.

Bite Me
2007-09-28 09:32:00
Well, since I'm going to have this site be "active" again, I guess that I better start back with Kate's Bite Me. A little "linky love" can't hurt.

I Guess I'll Keep It
2007-09-28 09:10:00
Anyone who's a regular at http://TasteLikeCrazy.com knows that this blog is my original blog. I moved to my own domain and pretty much left this blog to grow weeds.Since I'm a big ole sell-out, I've decided to keep this blog up and current for my reviews. Blogher is coming up fast, people! I gotta get some dough to travel all the way across the country and pay for the hotel and food and and and. You get the idea. So, while there will be original content, [witty original content at that] there will also be some "sponsored reviews". I write what I think...I just get paid for it.

Movers are Going to do It

We are moving home to Arkansas in five months! We moved ourselves to Florida and I have every intention that a moving company is moving us home. That's why TopMovingCompanies.com is coming in really handy right now. They give you four moving quotes from one form. You can't get much easier than that.

A Few Moronic Warning Labels
2007-10-19 11:03:27
[A quick technical note: This post looks beautiful when viewed with Firefox. I know that the post looks insane when viewed with IE. Though I love my IE readers, I’m tired of trying to fix it.] This little gem came from Cara’s Johny Jump Up. I’ll make sure that I have her read this before she lights her cigarette and jumps around her bonfire. Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah [I had to type that so that it looks “normal”] ********************************************************* This one came from my Spray and Wash. I know that the warning is there because someone actually sprayed the stuff on someone who was still wearing the stained piece of clothing. Who does that? [I had to add the “treat” since my camera’s flash ate it.] ********************************************************** Blah Blah I wish IE didn’t hate me so much. Blah ********************************************************** Last but not least is my ALL container. Do

Freudian Slip
2007-10-19 09:17:05
I was at Starbuck’s yesterday getting my Pumpkin Spice Latte with no whip and no sprinkles. [OH SO TASTY!] For some reason I had cash and paid the chick with a ten. She handed me back the change in all ones. Not a big deal. Having a wad of ones makes me feel like I have more money than I really do. [I’m a dork. I embrace this fact] Of course, she handed me the ones going in every direction known to man. That bugs the shit out of me. All of the bills should be turned in the same direction. Bills laid out all willy-nilly are the stepping stones to anarchy. What’s next? Martial Law?! The baristas were taking a very long time and as I sat there waiting, I rearranged my wayward bills. The coffee chick finally brought my coffee to the window [I was doing drive-thru] and noticed me obsessively straightening my dollar bills. “I’m really sorry about that. I didn’t realize that they were messed up.” She looked genuinely upset that I was fixin

Tom, Dick and Harry
2007-10-18 09:58:33
I don’t know how to write this without sounding like a big whiner so bear with me. [If you would prefer to not read whining then click here for my GNMParents post] Since I got pregnant with Cara [about a year ago] I have been noticing an marked increase in the number of moles that have been popping up on my various body parts. Last night I reached my arm over to turn off the bedside lamp and noticed three new moles on my left arm. They have irregular shapes and would probably laugh at the word symmetrical. [I guess it is kind of a funny word] My first reaction was to call and make a doctor’s appointment. Since it was 11 pm, that wasn’t an option and I just had to lay there…with the strange moles looking at me. Ok. So the moles don’t have eyes and I know that they can’t actually stare at me. But that’s what it felt like. Stupid staring moles. Tucker was asleep when I found Tom, Dick and Harry . [might as well name them] I poked Tucker in th

The Goat
2007-10-17 10:20:29
If I wasn’t well acquainted with my angel’s [cough] father, I could probably be convinced that he was a goat. Case in point: Not only does she insist on climbing on everything, she also eats everything. Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m glad that I don’t have a picky eater. She’ll eat anything I put in front of her. [except acorn squash] But paper? Dog food?? Wood chips?! Come on!!! I don’t mean that she just puts it in her mouth to “taste” it. NO! I mean she eats it. Over the lips, past the gums, watch out stomach – here it comes! While I’m on the subject of climbing and eating, Cara’s taken to climbing on her toybox to get to books that are supposed to be out of her reach. They used to be out of her reach…I’m not quite sure what happened. Once she reaches said books, she eats them. Corners, pages, binding, she doesn’t seem to much care. If I knew that her destructive book eating was a sign of

Who’s Your “Other”?
2007-10-17 05:00:40
During one of the first conversations that Tucker and I had talk turned to who we would “do” alive or dead. [Gotta love drunken party conversations] Without hesitation, my answer was Paul Newman. Ever since I saw him in Long, Hot Summer when I was ten, I have been positively smitten with the man. Don’t even get me started on Cool Hand Luke. Drool. Drool and double drool. ********************************************************* Anyway, Tucker’s was [and still is] Bettie Page. For the longest time I made fun of him for picking Bettie Page since we both thought she was dead. I always said that if a dead Bettie Page showed up at our door and wanted to take Tucker with her, I wasn’t gonna stand in her way. Apparently, she’s still alive. Who knew? I find it rather humorous that both of us picked people who are in their early 80’s. Mine has aged better. ********************************************************* But, I have a small confession to ma

Bite Me
2007-10-23 11:20:29
I haven’t participated in Kate’s Bite Me in a while.  I’m sure this makes her very sad. I’ve seen them on my Reader; I knew about them. But, I’ve been busy.  It’s not you, Kate.  It’s me. So, here’s a big ole BITE ME.

Birthday Party Thoughts
2007-10-23 10:14:12
Cara’s one year birthday is coming up. I don’t remember giving her permission to turn one. But, when has she ever listened to me? With the anniversary of her birth looming over my head, I’ve started thinking about birthday parties. Am I the only one who doesn’t see the point of having a “themed” party for a one year old? She’s not going to remember the damn thing. Her toddler friends aren’t going to talk crap about how much Cara’s party sucked. Tucker’s parents are coming this weekend and we’re going to have a small get-together with them and a couple of our friends. No Dora [Thank God!], no princess theme. Just us and a homemade cake. Is that really so bad?

Thinking About Presents
2007-11-01 10:22:42
My favorite holiday is officially over. Did you get lots of candy? Since Halloween is now officially a year away, Christmas is just a hop, skip, and a jump [or maybe a flake, sneeze, and a carol] away. Scary thought, huh? With this gift laden holiday quickly approaching, I find myself remembering last Christmas. Tucker, Cara and I were at home in Arkansas. It was Christmas morning and we were staying with my in-laws. Everyone was sitting around the Christmas tree and presents were stacked in neat piles in front of everyone. Tucker and I unwrapped our gifts from each other and while I was shredding wrapping paper, I noticed that my sister-in-law and her husband hadn’t exchanged gifts. Odd, I had thought. Listen To Your Kids
2007-11-15 07:07:50
Last week I had my IQ tested and this week I found out the results. While I have a high IQ, my “short term memory” score was startling low. Like almost below-average low. My shrink told me that a score that low, when compared to my high scores on the other subtests, would lead her to diagnose me with ADD. Vindication! Let me explain. When I was a wee lass, I can remember complaining to my mom that I thought that I might have ADD. A cousin of mine had recently been diagnosed as such and I could see parallels between his behavior and my own. When I informed my mother of my concerns, she wrote them off as me trying to get attention. So, for probably 15 years, my problem went undiagnosed. Read the rest here.

Wish I Had Thought of This Sooner
2007-11-13 07:44:16
Oh the life of a blogger. Everyday I have to get up and write something. Everyday. My brain is hurting just thinking about it. I’m just glad that I’m not writing college essays any longer. Honestly though, if I was having one of those days back in college, I think…more.

Dressin’
2007-11-20 08:15:18
I’m baking cornbread right now…8 am and I’m making cornbread. I’ve been tasked with making dressing [Don’t call it stuffing and drop the “g” while you’re at it] and since I haven’t made it in over a year, I’m doing a “test run”. My apartment smells heavenly right now. Isn’t it funny how holidays bring back memories that you thought that you had forgotten? I can remember my grandma [now deceased] sitting at the kitchen table chopping onions and celery. Grandma had Parkinson’s really bad and she would sit there and carefully cut the celery length wise, concentrating on each cut and making sure that each piece of onion and celery were the same size. I’m a tad bit more “organic” about the whole deal. Sure I want everything to be about the same size, but damn! I swear Grandma was whipping out the ruler when no one was looking. Anyway, I’m making “Southern” cornbread.

Chuck Norris Approved

You may not agree with his politics. Heck, you may not have ever even heard of Mike Huckabee. But he cracks me up and I thought I’d share with you probably one of the funniest political ads that I’ve ever seen. That’s right. I used “political ad” and “funny” in the same sentence. Anyway, it’s a funny video so watch it.

Death To You, Molar
2007-11-24 14:36:02
Last night was one of those nights when I wished that I could just snap my fingers and Cara would have a mouthful of teeth. All day she would be playing one minute and crying the next. I could have sworn that she had two personalities; she would be chasing Oscar and then she would crumple into a little baby pile of tears. Tucker had to work Black Friday [poor guy] from 5 am to 2 pm. When he got home, Cara was just getting up from her nap and we decided to go out for a steak. My treat. [Gotta love getting paid for “playing” on the internet] After dinner, we stumbled around a ransacked ToysRUs and then we rented a couple of movies. By the time we made it home, Cara was beyond exhausted. Bath. Boob. Bed. Cara woke up at 8; screaming. Tucker changed her diaper and put her back to bed. 9 pm. More screaming. She went back to sleep and woke back up at 10 pm. This time she was hysterical. While I was checking her diaper, [and she was screaming] I noticed that her right top and

For Your Enjoyment
2007-12-01 10:08:59
Oh, I am a lazy, lazy bum today. OK.  So maybe not lazy. Tucker has to go to work at 3 pm today and we gotta go grocery shopping before he trudges off to the salt mine. Since we got places to go and things to do, might I direct you to Ironic Gamer? I have several wonderful, instightful pieces that are sure to not only entertain you, but also make you think.   [I’m totally talking out of my ass with that.  Just so you know.] Toodles.

Christmas for Sophie and Beck
2007-11-30 11:43:13
Man, I just can’t get away from Christmas this year! Is it me, or has Christmas started earlier than it did last year? With all of the music and Charley Brown Christmas on ABC like every night, [grr!] I’ve definitely started thinking about presents much earlier than normal. This year we have Cara to think about but something struck me today. We never get Sophie and Beck anything. OK. I know I sound like a lunatic, but they have been with us for such a long time and they’ve never gotten a Christmas gift. They’re definitely getting a pet gift basket this year. Just think about it. They can eat the goodies inside of the basket and then once they’re done, they can eat the actual basket! *Note* Baskets are not dog approved chew-toys or food. But, try telling my dogs that. Anyway, I think that we’ve decided to get Cara another Ugly Doll…we just haven’t decided which one yet. In all honesty, I think the Ugly Doll will be for us. We’
