RealPlayer 11 beta available to download 2007-06-29 19:25:18 Does someone remember this thing? It was very popular some time ago but the truth is with the passage of time people started to forget about it, to be honest, it never convinced me, i used it some time but it was a resource-killer and it didn’t work like it should.
But RealPlayer
guys pretend to make it better with the new version of RealPlayer, it seems that you will be able to download videos from Youtube, Google, Yahoo, etc. and convert them without using a third party tool. Performance and seems to be better now and it will have more features than other versions.
Bad part is that it will recogniza DRM files and you won’t be able to download them
If you’re still interested in trying, you can download the beta from here

Error deleting file or folder, in use 2007-06-27 15:47:03 I bet my balls pants, that more than once you tried to move, delete, spit, or crap a file and you got this typical message:
or similar ones, and many times you wouldn’t know why you couldn’t use the file in any way.
This is a really common problem for us, Windows boys ;). But there are two programs that can make your life easier (there are more, but these are my recommendations):
Unlocker: Simple program capable of detecting applications, process or libraries that are blocking the file that we want to delete, move, or spit, so we can free it and we can do with it what we want. This program even lets us delete protected folders.
WhoLockMe: Little plug-in that integrates in Windows Explorer and its job is to show you in what processes is a determinate file. So by doing this we will be able to easily locate the reason by which we cannot eliminate those elements that, apparently, were not in execution.

DirectX 10 for Windows XP 2007-06-27 15:07:51 So Microsoft has decided to make the latest version of DirectX
10 only available for Windows
Vista, the reason is they want to sell their new operating system, fair enough. Some developers has decided to create a new version of DirectX 10 that will work under Windows XP with the goal to run any application that requires DirectX 10 also on that operating system.
At the moment theres only alpha version is available, and that would only be interesting to programmers. The main plan is to support the games that were only released for Windows Vista like Halo 2 or Shadowrun.
It’s very likely that Microsoft will give more credit to the games that are only available for Windows Vista. It’s not recommended to install DirectX 10 because its an alpha release and could cause many problems. But if you want to keep up to date and/or download it, check Falling Leaf.
If you don’t know the difference between DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 you should see this video and comment what you think

Proxy: all you need to know 2007-06-27 11:15:57 You care about your security? maybe you wanna do something illegal and you need a proxy, or many so you don’t get caught? You want to speed up your downloads? Your company has a proxy and you cant connect to some websites?
If you feel identified by some of those questions then you must read this guide.
¿What is a proxy server?
A proxy server is a kind of buffer between your computer and the Internet resources you are accessing. The data you request come to the proxy first, and only then it transmits the data to you.
¿What is an anonymous proxy server?
Anonymous proxy servers hide your IP address and thereby prevent your from unauthorized access to your computer through the Internet. They do not provide anyone with your IP address and effectively hide any information about you and your reading interests. Besides that, they don’t even let anyone know that you are surfing through a proxy server. Anonymous proxy servers can be used for all kinds of Web-services, such as Web-M Read more:Proxy

It simply fixes to the inside of the rear car window using a power suction cup. It’s remote control for the front of the car fixes to the front windscreen (using power suction cup) or optionally can be stowed in a front compartment (it’s fixing bracket can be removed). With the remote control fixed to the front windscreen, pressing it’s buttons to activate messages is very simple to operate. The main unit is powered by 4 AA batteries – there is no long wire to the cigarette lighter. Batteries last for approximately 4 month’s depending on usage.

How to keep your mailbox safe 2007-06-27 07:10:17 Many of us spend a lot of time in front of pc, surfing and viewing new websites that appear every day. In most of them its required to registar or write our e-mail address so we can use their services. And that, that is one of the ways god damn spammers reach our mailbox, lots of spam mails or weird newsletters that even we can’t sign out!
If you feel identified by this, theres two possible solutions:
Bugmenot: Website that hosts users and passwords of many webpages that needs a registered user to participate, i would look at it before even registering, you may find it useful. Also offers disposable e-mail address.
Disposabel E-mail Address: They are websites that doesn’t require to register (most of them), you only have to write something and voila! you got a new temporal mail address ready to be used. I recommend 2prong
And remember, next time keep your mail for important issues.

Import Thunderbird mail to Outlook 2007-06-26 23:12:46 At a first sight you may think this is an easy job, well it isn’t. I think Mozilla Thunderbird
is a great application, but it has some bad points, and one of them is migration, thats not easy with Thunderbird.
So today i decided to migrate my Thunderbird to Outlook
, work reasons mostly, and i have to make some research before i could get a solution, i will share my knowledge about this, so if you are in the same position i was you get it easy.
Download IMAPSize, so you can convert your .mbox files to .eml (Outlook Express messages)
Once you have the program, you have to find where are your Thunderbird files so you can convert them with IMAPSize, you can find them in X:Documents and settingsyour_userApplication dataThunderbirdProfilesxxxMail
Run IMAPSize and go to tools > Convert mbox2eml
If you have noticed, in Thunderbird’s mail folder theres a chance your mail wont be in .mbox extension, and with another one. So you have to edit your Inbox file and add the ex Read more:Import
New way to improve in search engines 2007-07-04 05:39:16 From now on, if you think paid links websites are part of the competition and fuck up make your pagerank or SEO worse, you can tell google about them using webmaster tools, service is report paid links
If something is crystal clear is the fact that we need to stop those sites, we need to start reporting those sites and we will all have benefits. Lets see what google has to say:
Help us maintain the quality of Google search results.
We work hard to return the most relevant results for every search we conduct. To that end, we encourage site managers to make their content straightforward and easily understood by users and search engines
alike. Unfortunately, not all websites have users’ best interests at heart. Some site owners attempt to “buy PageRank™” in the form of paid links to their sites. Buying links to improve PageRank violates our quality guidelines.
Google uses a number of methods to detect paid links, including algorithmic techniques. We also welcome info Read more:search engines
Robots.txt collection 2007-07-04 04:57:20 A good implementation of robots.txt is a very important factor for SEO. There are many guides out there explaining how to create a good robots.txt, but what if we check other websites instead of lookinat the guides?
Daily Blog Tips made a nice robots.txt list based on other blogs and websites, most important thing we can see are:
Only 2 of 30websites didn’t use robots.txt
Even if you don’t have an specific requirement for search engine’s bots, you should use a simple robots.txt
Most of the websites use: “user agent: *” to cover all bots
Most disallowed factor are RSS feeds
Google uses an open and private combination of folders, meaning that some sites can be treated differently
A minority of sites include their sitemap URL in robots.txt

Know why your website is slow with PingDom 2007-07-06 06:56:28 If you are a webmaster or blogger, maybe you asked yourself why is your site loading so slow, maybe theres a large image, or javascript from another page, or maybe its only our stupid connection that its scaring us. Anyways, you still don’t know why your website
is loading slow, so you need to try PingDom.
Pingdom identifies all components that loads when you enter your site and it tells you how much time it takes to load each. Did you see any blog with ClickComments plugin? those sites are 2x slower than the rest. Why? because it asks for a javascript from a third party server, and that server is slow.
Hope this helps you making a better performance for your visitors ;)
