The Unfairness Doctrine
2007-06-30 17:53:00
We've heard a lot of rumbling this week about bringing back the Fairness Doctrine and I'd like to take some time to dicuss it.First of all, the original intent of these rulings was to ensure that both sides of any controversial issue be represented in the media...in 1949.  When the policy went into place, we didn't exactly have the massive amount of media coverage that we have today. This week, members of Congress began rumbling about the need for a reinstating of the Doctrine.  What sense does this make?  The reasoning in my eyes is simple, but on quite a few different levels.  We'll run these down one step at a time. The past week, the whole country has been in an uprise over the proposed Amnesty Bill that was on the Senate floor.  Now of course, conservative talk radio was up in arms over the whole.  And frankly, the whole think stunk to high heaven, but it's over and done with so we'll leave that one be.  At any rate, every major conservative host was urging pe

Have a look at the history of this holiday, and enjoy your grilling and fireworks. Check back tomorrow for your regularly scheduled dose of conservative ramblings.

Republican Fundraising Numbers
2007-07-04 11:14:00
I found the annoucement yesterday evening of the quarterly fundraising report very interesting. The first conclusion that will probably be made is that the democratic candidates have done much better to this point and that's such a bad sign...blah blah blah.I see this much differently than most media outlets will see.First of all, it so early in the game to be running the campaigns at the level we are. The mass majority of people don't even get interested until the debates closer to the primaries. What we're dealing with right now are the political activists of our country. I really do believe that most conservatives haven't garnered much interest yet because of it.Secondly, I still don't think we've seen the predominate Republican candidate yet. I don't think that Giuliani is the man. I believe that people don't have their preferred man to rally around. It's a shame, because I really love Ron Paul. He would get my vote in a heartbeat. But I have to think that when an

Hillary Responds to the Libby Commutation
2007-07-03 13:46:00
Hello Pot, meet my friend Kettle. As I said earlier I don't agree with the commutation, or possible full pardon as being reported, but when you were also part of an administration that was initiating shady back-door pardons as well, you should really keep your mouth shut. The American people are not morons, and do remember these things. This is a prime example of why she is falling in the polls like a stone. The people of this country remember, and do not uphold hypocrisy as a positive value in a Presidential candidate.

Leave Early This Week
2007-07-03 13:25:00
If you are traveling in a major this week you might want to consider leaving a little early as security has been turned up a notch. This is a normal response after the events of the past week. The one thing I often wonder, do you think terrorists are honestly going to attack on a Holiday when everyone is on their toes? Maybe I'm wrong here, maybe there is a 'they think we could, but probably won't, so let's do it.' Also, you can only have so much manpower on the ground. I would think any plan would be to strike in the place least expected that can cause the most amount of damage. At any rate, say a prayer to the Higher Power you believe in and hope for a safe Holiday.

McCain Going Down?
2007-07-03 11:42:00
It appears that things in the McCain camp aren't so peachy. I really thought that he shot himself in the foot at the last debate, and it appears he might be quickly becoming the first casulty of this Presidential Election.Unfortunately for Mr. McCain, he has been all over the map when it pertains to the issues. Once again, the conservative base wants a conservative candidate. McCain and his policies are too far in the middle for him to ever do well in either party really. Hopefully, he'll take note of this and avoid running again, unless he decides to radically reform his ideals.

Libby's Sentence Commuted
2007-07-03 08:56:00
Our President has decided that Scooter Libby 's sentencing was a bit harsh and has commuted his sentence. Now before I get to the complaining part, let's make sure we're on the same page. Libby was not pardoned, he was commuted. The President decided to remove the jail sentence, but he still pays the fine, has a criminal record and must perform community service. When this came down late last night, it was an outrage that he got off free, well he didn't.This is the part where the Republican says it was a just move and the penalty was too harsh, right? Wrong! This man was tried and convicted. The judicial system passed their punishment, which is what he should be serving.President Bush had no business whatsoever sticking his nose in there and doing anything. It shows favoritism for one thing, and sets a horrible example. Of course, this present administration has time and time again proved that it feels it is above the law. Now I know, party line conservatives everywhere will

Summer of Terror?
2007-07-02 16:16:00
After events in Glasgow and London, U.S. law enforcement agencies feel that this could be a Spectacular Summer of Terror . Signs and intelligence are said to be looking very similar to that of pre 9/11 information.Anytime we see activity like this it always gets me thinking of the border situation.  All those miles of unfenced, unguarded land.  I often worry that terrorists are sneaking over the border late at night, carrying suitcase style nuclear weapons.  One has to wonder if it will take another disaster of massive proportions in this country to get our borders sealed, at least to an acceptable level to ensure these actions aren't really taking place.I don't have anything against people coming to America.  That's why we're all here.  I do however have a problem with Mexico dumping the people they don't want in their country here, or illegals coming over simply to work and make money, only to return to Mexico.I understand that our immigration system is a very long process,

The State of the GOP
2007-07-02 15:07:00
Hi, my name is Rich, and I'm a Republican. I'm not proud to admit that at the moment, as I feel that our party is in a state of disarray. MANY conservatives in this nation feel that they their party no longer represents them. It seems that personal gain, special interest and ear marks have taken over our government.I don't fault this at the system level. The two party system is certainly a way to ensure the best form of balance that we can attain. The problem we have right now is with the people that are running it. You see a lot of political writers and talk radio hosts were outraged over last week's amnesty bill (and rightly so), screaming that we all need to leave the party because our best interests are not being represented. I think that statement is actually very shortsighted and will only hurt us further in the long run. If everyone up and leaves, that simply gives the people in power further control, because there won't be anyone left to steer it back to its conser

Obama Raises at Least $32 Million
2007-07-02 10:05:00
Senator Obama has certainly had a great second quarter. One has to wonder how this speaks to Senator Clinton and her chances, especially considering the latest Gallup Poll. Maybe people are getting tired of the Amazing Monotone Woman?I watched the Democratic Conversation last week, I won't call it a debate because it was more of a love fest. (I guess I should explain that I do not vote for party tickets, I vote for the best person that is in line with my beliefs). At any rate, I really cannot stand to hear the woman talk. She elevates to that level of yell and just stays there. I (break) BELIEVE (break) THIS (break) IS (break) THE...nevermind you get the point. It gives me a headache. At this point, we are so far off from anyone actually casting a vote, but I have to feel that lately all Hilary has been doing is hurting herself in the long run. The longer the campaign trail, the longer you have to shoot yourself in the foot.Maybe people are just fed up with the Hilary train.

Go Get 'Em Ron!
2007-07-01 14:29:00
After being excluded from The Iowa Christian Alliance and Iowans for Tax Relief's forum for Republican Candidates, Mr. Paul decided to organize his own gathering in less than a week.  Mr. Paul's presentation outdrew the forum itself.  The lesson here?  The people's opinion matters much more than any organizers of a forum.  Maybe next time the ICA wants to organize a forum they'll invite the candidates the people want to see and not the ones they deem credible.

Newt...Fred...Anybody!?
2007-07-01 13:38:00
First of all it amazes me that it's July 1st, and we've already been discussing this Presidential Nominations since January.  At the rate we're going campaigning for the 2012 election will begin in December...of this year.Being a conservative that is generally fed up with both major parties at this point, I've yet to even see a candidate that I'd be willing to vote for.Enter Newt Gingrich and Fred Thompson.  Now Fred has said publicly on many occasions that he believes it is to early in the game to announce any sort of Presidential announcement, and if he decides to run he'll announce it around September.  Newt has been rumored to be considering a run as well, one that hinges on the success of the Thompson campaign.  You have to wonder the logic in that.  Is it that he realizes the GOP is already crowded?  Or is he concerned about siphoning votes away and damaging the integrity of the party in winning the election? The pool on the GOP side is crowded, really crow

Oldest DNA Ever Recovered Shows Warmer Planet
2007-07-08 12:20:00
DNA recently found shows that Greenland was once an area with trees and insects thriving on it.This is another example in the huge list of information that suggests that our planet has gone through trends of warming and cooling over the centuries. Scientists are now suggesting that perhaps trends in the sun's electro-magnetic radiation may be the cause of our temperature changes, and not any emissions we're putting out.Nowadays, the global warming debate has really turned more into a personal belief situation. You can pretty much find data to support either theory, and data to poke holes in that information as well. The big question isn't does it exist or is it something else, it's what we can do. As I've said many times, let's implement those new technologies in our own homes. Let's use less energy and reduce our dependency on foriegn oil. By doing these simple things we cannot only decrease emissions, but we can also save ourselves money in the long run. That is the pulse

Giuliani The Firearm Champion!?
2007-07-07 15:57:00
It seems the former Mayor of New York is now doing a bit of flip flopping of his own. When asked at a recent appearance about his record on firearms, he emphatically declared we have the right to bear arms. Now hang on a second...this is the same Rudy Giuliani right? The same guy who lobbied for and instituted strict gun control laws in New York? Now, he did specifically say it didn't matter if he believed in it or not, and that he was a Constitutionalist. Does this sound like someone who is trying to have it both ways? As we have seen time and time again in this Presidential race, this kind of behavior simply alienates people. Any firearm enthusiast already knows the politics here, believe me. I have much more respect for people who will stand by thier personal beliefs and allow me to decide if I support it rather than trying to be both teams at once.Mr. Giuliani will serve as an honorary race offical for tonight's Pepsi 400, obviously attempting to secure the southern NASCAR

Live Earth Saves the Planet...Maybe Not
2007-07-07 11:44:00
Anyone else find it hilarious that Live Earth is using up a massive amount of fuel, electricity, creating huge heaps of waste, and shooting our carbon footprint through the roof?If you really want to increase awareness about a perceived global warming issue, maybe it would have been less hypocritical to just use a press release or a website. Of course, liberals and global warming believers everywhere will conveniently ignore this situation. As I've said before, I respect the fact that people want to cut our emissions and use more energy efficient technology, but not because of global warming. I'm a technology fan, and if we have it, we should use it.This type of personal truth is just another example of how not to promote an issue.

Liberals Accept Responsibility for Killers
2007-07-06 18:08:00
Got this e-mail today and found it hilarious.A Lady wrote a lot of letters to the White House complaining about the treatment of a captive insurgent (terrorist) being held in Guantanamo Bay She received back the following reply: The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington , DC 20016 Dear Concerned Citizen: Thank you for your recent letter roundly criticizing our treatment of the Taliban and Al Quada detainees currently being held at Guantanamo Bay , Cuba . Our administration takes these matters seriously and your opinion was heard loud and clear here in Washington You'll be pleased to learn that, thanks to the concerns of citizens like yourself, we are creating a new division of the Terrorist Retraining Program, to be called the "Liberals Accept Responsibility for Killers " program, or LARK for short. In accordance with the guidelines of this new program, we have decided to place one terrorist under your personal care. Your personal detainee has been selected and scheduled for

OSHA Proposal Would Kill Your Local Gun Stores
2007-07-06 15:22:00
OSHA is proposing new regulations that would essentially cause a whole mess of issues for your local gun store. Essentially these new sanctions would make it just about impossible to sell firearms and ammo in the same building. Yes, you read that right. It actually gets even worse. We're also talking black powder, primers, percussion caps etc. If you own a firearm, I'd suggest you hit the link above and read up on it. Then pick up the phone or write a letter to voice your displeasure on these proposed rules. We still have the opportunity to let our voices be heard and hopefully have these ridiculous sanctions adjusted or removed altogether.

Live Earth Weekend
2007-07-06 10:34:00
Live Earth weekend is finally here, and it couldn't come at a better time for Al Gore.Gore's son caught headlines earlier this week with his arrest. The former Vice President has stated that his son's problem is a private matter, I don't think so Al.If you chose to campaign heavily on what you believe is a global issue, then nothing is a private affair. You are in the public eye by choice, therefore your entire life is an open book. With the concerts being this weekend however, it should help shift public interest from his family issues to the benefits themselves.I caught the senior Gore on Larry King last night, and I have to say I do respect the man and his convictions. According to him, they are doing extensive work at home to be a more green family. He's certainly out there informing people on his position....but I still think he's crazy. The funny thing is that the entire media is focusing on the 'heatwave'in Vegas. Wow 116 degrees in July...in the desert. Isn't it ab

45 Muslim Doctors Planned US Terror Raids
2007-07-05 16:38:00
The release of recently uncovered terror plots against us is yet another disturbing link in the long chain of violence, but it does emphasize a few points.First of all these threats were made by doctors. Yes, doctors. Men that have an education. Terror ists are not always of lesser intelligence. In fact these men could have possibly been recruited because they would draw less suspicions. There is no true face of terror, it could be anyone, from any walk of life, at any time.Second of all, this isn't the fault of Muslim s, it's the fault of radical extremists. Laying blame at the feet of every Muslim on the planet doesn't solve anything. I believe that this further emphasizes that our border security needs to be paramount. What would stop someone from just walking over in the middle of the night? Certainly the argument can be made that men like this will attain passports and easily come in the country via typical means, which is probably true, but that's where the intelligence

The $1250 Dollar Haircut
2007-07-05 14:03:00
Alright, first of all I am no fan of John Edwards and his politics. I completely detest the idea of nationalized health care mainly, so therefore I really don't pay much attention to him. Let me say I think he is a great speaker and a very magnanimous candidate. As a person, I'm sure he's a very nice person, but I'm not having a beer with the man anytime soon.I also lost great respect for the man when his wife called in to Chris Matthews to jump Ann Coulter. Yes, the remarks Ms. Coulter made were a bit off color to begin with, but the way the whole ordeal was framed was far from truthful. Now today, we're hearing word of what will soon be the infamous $1200 dollar haircut. This can also be called the Campaign Killer. You can make any excuse you want. The guy cuts good hair, I didn't know it was so expensive, the other guy made the appointments, it ain't going to matter. This is not an example of fiscal responsibility, or general responsibility period if you want to play th

Immigration Reform in 6 Easy Steps
2007-07-05 12:21:00
Since this week will probably be rather slow in the news world, I thought I'd take a minute to go over my take on Immigration Reform .  Below are my easy steps for success.1) Secure the border by building a wall.  All 700+ miles.2) Hire additional border agents, give them firearms and allow them to use them without fear or prosecution.  Let them do their jobs.3) Encourage illegal aliens to register with the government.  Also impose the active pursuit of nationalization.  Failure to comply results in immediate deportation.  This is the most difficult of issues to tackle.  I am in no way for amnesty, however, how feasible is it to think we can round up 12-20 million illegal aliens and deport them?  If we require them to register and set strict sanctions on them, we will still greatly decrease that number.  Also, by enforcing registration we can also form a paper trail and allow a case by case evaluation.4) Require any illegal alien that will not comply with registr

Al Gore III Arrested on Drug Charges
2007-07-05 08:43:00
Doing a 100 miles an hour on the freeway is never a good idea, especially when you have a pile of illegal drugs in the car. I did however find it funny that he was driving a Prius. I suppose the Gore's practice what they preach to some extent. I say some extent because I've seen the reports of the amount of electricity the man uses. Kind of ironic, isn't it?One good thing to come out this situation is that he is going to seek treatment. I'm no expert in drug addiction, but I do know that in life sometimes a wake up call is needed. Now, I suppose I should explain that I don't believe in Global Warming. Do me a favor here, don't send 8000 facts or flood the Comments section. You can easily find information that points to the fact that there really isn't any effects, but anyways. I certainly believe in Global Climate Change and trending. But you know what, I agree with Mr. Gore. If we have the technology to decrease our emissions and waste, why shouldn't we do it? It certa
