Philips Swarovski Active Crystal USB Flash Drives & Earphones 2007-06-30 10:20:34
The ActiveCrystal
collection, resulting from a collaboration between electronics consumer giant Philips
and the acclaimed jewellers Swarovski
, consists of a collection of designer flash drives and earphones that are sure to set pulses racing.
Certainly in the case of USB flash drives, the fusion between jewellery and solid state memory is nothing new but what sets these designs apart is their simplistic, beautifully understated elegance.
As Rudy Provoost, Chief Executive Officer of Philips puts it: “We are combining luxurious design with the practical, everyday benefits of consumer electronics to complement Philips’ brand promise “sense and simplicity” and Swarovski brand promise of Poetry & Precision.”
We are unable to obtain a pricing structure concerning the Active Crystal range at the time of writing, though we can confirm that these supremely stylish USB flash drives and earphones are due for release around August.

Nike Hockey Inspired Vacuuming Concept 2007-06-27 15:48:50
Whilst compiling stories for e-Potpourri’s sister site we come across a great many concepts, but few knock us dead with their sheer ingenuity and implicit playfulness quite to the degree as is the case with this concept from designer Jaewon Yang, so you’ll excuse us for featuring it here on e-Potpourri as well.
The Nike Hockey VacuumingConcept
consists of a hockey stick inspired sweep with which you collect the dust in order to direct it towards the goal, which is actually a immobile vacuum unit.
A stroke of design brilliance, I’m sure you’ll agree though, unfortunately, there is nothing by way of indication to suggest that this will ever become commercially available.

1GB USB Flash Drive Wristband 2007-06-26 15:00:10

Compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems, the 1GB USB Flash

Minimalist Retro Styled Stream Chair 2007-06-24 16:56:38
There’s something about this chair that screams of 70’s styling though we cannot quite put a finger on why. Perhaps it’s the boldness of the design and the vibrant colours which are perfectly complimented by the chrome base. Or perhaps it’s the smooth, curved contours which seem both organic and playfully feminine.
The Stream
chair, which the brainchild of French designer Christophe Pillet, which would beautifully compliment these similarly ‘retroesque’ Scangyna Pod Speakers for those wishing to capture that neo-seventies feel, retail for a breathtaking €2800 (which, at the time of writing, is approximately $3770 / £1886). Define Your Personal Space with the Piilo Designer Tent 2007-07-04 09:35:39

Designed by Markus Michalski, the Piilo offers immediate personal space bubble by folding out in a repeated series of translucent membrane visors fastened by carbon fibre rods.
Admittedly, if you’re looking for protection from the elements this is hardly going to be the solution but, for days at the beach or picnics, it could be ideal fold-out enclosure for those looking for a little solitude.

Some designs just stand out from the crowd, and that’s certainly the case when it comes to this Mini Salt Ball.
Resembling a rabbit’s head, the novel Mini Salt Ball is operated by squeezing the levers on the top of the device to grind the salt crystals contained within with variable coarseness and, not only does it look great, but it even comes with a powerful magnet on the back allowing it to be attached to fridge doors and other metallic surfaces.
Sure to grace any diner table, and doubtless serve as a conversational piece for guests, the Mini Salt Ball retails for a very reasonable 12600 Korean Won (which is approximately $13 / £6 / €10). Read more:Rabbit

Simple, uncomplicated and beautifully designed, this portable AM/FM radio known as the Mini Dolmen fuses classic retro elements with modern minimalist styling with great effect.
Unfortunately, we’re rather limited as to what we can write concerning this device as it’s very much a case of WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) but we’ve featured it on e-Potpourri as we think it’s totally adorable.
The battery powered Mini Dolmen Radio
retails for 78000 Korean Won which is approximately $84 / £42 / €62 exclusive of shipping at the time of writing. Read more:Portable

Roll Between Presets with the Memory Ball Radio 2007-07-07 20:08:55
This curious looking radio alarm clock offers an ingenious way of switching between station presets. There’s no pressing of buttons, no dialing of knobs, instead you simply relocate the magnetic ball to a differing intersection of the grid moulded into the clock’s upper surface.
Eighteen separate presets are available, each being located at the intersections of the moulded grid, with nine being allocated to FM stations and nine to AM transmissions with either AM or FM modes being active at a single time.
Unfortunately, whilst the method of selecting presets is undoubtedly novel we cannot help but feel that this design ingenuity evidenced in the selection of presets is somewhat let down by the otherwise rather humdrum styling of the device – but you may think differently.
The Memory
Ball Radio
Alarm Clock, which is available in white, black or silver, will operate either from batteries or via a mains outlet and retails for $60.
EvaSolo CafeSolo – The Coffee Maker with a Dress Code 2007-07-07 07:18:00
Why over complicate things when life is already complicated enough?
One of the first posts we featured on e-Potpourri was Joey Roth’s Sorapot Tea Pot, which we love due to its simple, striking yet blissfully uncomplicated design. We love the CafeSolo for very much the same reasons.
This is coffee making without mechanics – so you can forget electronic pumps and steam. You just spoon the coffee in, pour in boiling water, zip up the neoprene jacket and wait. It really is that simple.
Once brewed the filter funnel ensures that the ground coffee is retained within the CafeSolo, which will keep your coffee at serving temperature for thirty minutes.
Winner of a host of design awards, the distinctive EvaSolo CafeSolo is available in two sizes (0.6 litre and 1.0 litre) and comes with a choice of jacket colours. Read more:Coffee
