It is a strange feeling of rightness and that whatever you were meant to achieve in your current place of residence is over.
When I was younger and my father was with me once when I moved he asked me how I felt.
I remember saying to him, no regrets that time is now over.

The Creative Spirit creates many beginnings.
One is unable to stay in a stagnant place when accessing this spirit.

Today the commentator was talking about Beethoven.
He was telling us how Beethoven had a belief in the brotherhood of all men at a time when nobility was an accepted concept.
Beethoven thought Napoleon was about putting this brotherhood into action.
The commentator stated Beethoven was saddened when Napoleon showed he was not about brotherhood by crowning himself Emperor.
Beethoven’s music `Heroica’ expressed the strong feelings he felt at this historic moment.
Beethoven felt great beauty and at that time he felt he was walking alone.
There are many of us who dream today of a unified world where we honor each others `creative spirits’.
A world where Beethoven’s concept of the brotherhood of man precedes differences welded by old understandings.

I find when I am angry my work dries up.
The same happens when I am agitated or upset in any way.
I have had to learn to walk away from such emotion and in reflection deal with the cause.
If I wasn’t to do this I would not be able to continue to paint.
When I was younger I would try to paint in these moods, but it never worked.
Once I struggled with a commission that was required by my gallery. The client rejected the work, they said it reminded them of something very derogatory.
The gallery owner was uncomfortable telling me the work had been rejected and repeated the comment as explanation.
She was surprised I laughed.
That was how I was feeling I replied.
I took the work back, worked on my issues, and produced a work that made us all happy.
The gallery owner and I still laugh over that day and that comment, and I learnt a valuable lesson about the need

I allowed time for silence this weekend and renewed my connection to `The Creative Spirit’.
My head had been scattered and it was hard to access the wonderful creative flow that is there for us all.

This creates many moments of joy as well as pain.
It was the artists for example who were said to be the first to leave Germany prior to World War 2.
They could sense the feelings of oppression happening in Germany and were unable to create in such an atmosphere.
Today many artists are expressing great concern for the environment.
In the nineties as I said in earlier blogs I painted the beach on which I lived.
These paintings are now about a way of life that is disappearing.
The old apartment buildings shared by a cross section of the community are being replaced by homes of the wealthy.
As I struggled to paint the last of these paintings I was overwhelmed with sadness.

Had a sore tooth yesterday and was finding it hard to get into that special place from which I paint.
Then I found the above quote by Abraham Lincoln and it’s words renewed that sense of peace.
The purity and power of the thought behind these words created an image in my mind.
I got out my paint brushes and inspite of the tooth was able to feel that wonderful flow that comes when you connect to the power of `The Creative Spirit’.
The strength and power of these moments brings the capacity to create under all circumstances.

Today was listening to New York Art Critic Robert Hughes being interviewed on the radio.
He was talking about the pain he has experienced since his car accident and how it had expanded his consciousness to be aware of dimensions he previously did not understand.
The artist Lloyd’s special poem above expresses the same awareness.

There is a joy in creating, but sometimes the well dries up.
This is the time for the artist to stand back and reenter the silence from where their inspiration flows.
I feel that need myself at present.
After a year of painting my well feels kind of low and I crave a break.
It’s a feeling you get, sort of flat.
When I was younger I would push on through these flat feelings and then crash.
Now I know it’is time for renewal.
I never know how long a break will need to be.
Could be a week or longer.
I will keep up my blogs, just let the painting have a break.
Sometimes the energy flows again quickly or other times I discover my focus in one direction has closed my eyes to other parts of my life that need energy.
It is only by taking a detour that I discover the landscapes I need to explore.
By withdrawing and regathering I have kept my work evolving in what I hope is my truth.
My new directions often surprise myself, but this way my paths remain untangled.
