Walking on my beach at the end of an autumn day always creates in me an overwhelming feeling of peace.
Although now the skyline is becoming crowded there are still the soft colors of sea and sky and the gentle rhythm of the waves once the wind has died down for the day.
In gentle, silent pauses such as this, one is able to feel the inspiration begin to flow again and creative actions which previously felt difficult, feel once more possible.
The connection between such silence of spirit and the desire to create is powerful for the artist.
Without this silence I know I quickly become agitated and overwhelmed and unable to access my flow of images and words.

I will never forget after a very dark period in my life taking out my paint brushes and creating one small rather weak painting.
Somehow this act rekindled hope in me and I had no conception of the images and adventures that this small act of hope was about to open in my life.

I remember painting one work of an earlier series that was about taking those stairs to a place of hope and inspiration.
