Peace 2007-01-15 08:27:40
`He that would live in peace and at ease must not speak all he knows or all he sees.’ Benjamin Franklin
Today my mind is stilled once more, and I feel at peace.
I made some major decisions about the selling of my home yesterday and today acted on these decisions.
These decisions and their consequent course of action have brought peace to my mind.
I prefer not to be specific but they are not the safe, comfortable decisions I was planning and yet they have brought immediate peace.
I will also be getting back into my painting in the next few days.
These will not be the large paintings that require space to complete, but the smaller works I am able to do in my apartment.
Now that the peace in my head has returned I look forward once more to accessing my creative inspiration.

Towards Peace 2007-01-18 10:19:54
`Love does not dominate, it cultivates.’ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Am still yet to begin painting, but am maintaining my resolve on the issues that created my inner peace.
The issues are regarding my property and I have been under some pressure to change these decisions.
The peace these decisions have brought has however remained with me and allowed me to continue on the path I choose.
Now I need to find that same peace in regard to the images I plan to produce for this year.
Last year painting really brought joy, but at the end of the year I felt the need to withdraw and reflect on where to take the works from that point.
In the nineties I was proactive in the gallery scene but in recent years I have withdrawn from that arena and enjoyed the greater freedom of placing my own work online.
Now for various reasons I am again considering all options including printing my blogs in book form.
What I am striving for is a way ahead that brings peace and maybe some security.

Unique Dubai 2007-01-18 10:14:56 Dubai is one of those countries that I keep hearing about it.
A few years ago when I had an exhibition with at one of the large hotels on the Gold Coast I was fascinated when one of the managers there left to take up a post in Dubai.
It sounded unique and mysterious.
In 2001 Dubai launched `Palm Island’ the largest man made island ever.
It has two parts each shaped like a palm tree and is surrounded by a man made reef.
You can discover more about this unique country and it exotic properties at the palm dubai.

Various Forces 2007-01-23 05:19:43
`Who can make out the various forces at play in one soul.’ Saint Augustine
As you continue along `The Art Path’ you never reach a final destination.
Just when you feel you have found your village, your home something will call you further on, force you to pack your `creative bags’ and venture into new territories.
Last year I felt I had discovered a plateau, a safe place in which to be, but then I ventured back to New Zealand and found many old byways that needed to be cleared to return to `the creative place’ I had discovered.
I had forgotten the existence of many of these old byways and was surprised at the hold and power they still had over my way forward.
Some of these byways were rocky, rugged and very different to my current clear direction, but rewalking their diverse terrain added many powerful images and experiences to make my current journey richer and more poignant.
Each of us have old byways which continue to emerge, beckon and draw us, and when w Read more:Forces

Being the Change 2007-01-26 02:28:13
`Be the change that you want to be in the world. Gandhi
Each day we have the opportunity to create change.
It is about breaking old habits, discovering new ways of being.
This applies to the little things in your life as well as to our art.
As change is created in little ways, a different breakfast, getting up earlier and giving yourself sometime for silence before the day starts to speed up, you find your creative voice will become more powerful.
Feelings of discontent will arise about how things are being done in our world and you will want to stand up and have a voice.
I am excited in my own country at present as I see a new mood rising about the environment.
It is not happening from leaders, but from lots of people like yourselves expressing their voices in many ways.
The power of creativity is something we all have within us, something we can all listen to and access and its doors can be opened not just by being a top artist, top musician or top writer, but by doing the creative Read more:Change

Staying Fresh 2007-01-28 06:34:27
`The tree that is beside the living water is fresher and gives more fruit.” Saint Teresa of Avila
Retaining freshness in your creative images is about staying connected to your flow of inspiration.
It is so easy to block this flow.
So many of each day’s happenings can create an agitation of spirit that blocks.
To create it is necessary to recognise this agitation and work with it to reach resolution.
In resolution come the peace that enables again the flow of inspiration.
I know when I am distressed I will not settle and paint. My mind is restless and like all distressed people it is enough maintaining the everyday without producing new thoughts and ideas
By retaining ongoing resolution of daily issues the blocks that cloud ongoing inspiration are unable to accumulate.
Taking time to understand why one may be feeling angry and resolving the situation in a way that restores your feelings of peace is an example of keeping those blocks clear.
To sit on such anger does not ma

Maintaining Joy 2007-01-30 06:59:10
`One cannot subdue a man by holding back his hands. Lasting peace comes not from force.’ David Bonstein
Maintaining
that inner joy that results in creativity cannot be forced, it is something that bubbles up from the inner well we all have within.
When we lack that inner joy in our lives we need to access again that source of our creativity.
No we cannot make it happen, but we can open the doors for it to reemerge.
By clearing away the debris in our lives and opening ourselves to new ways of being and seeing we begin this process.
Stopping the ongoing onslaught of what should be and replacing them with what could be.
There are no rules of clay in our world, all boundaries have transience and we are capable of moving forward beyond our own established boundaries.
It is so renewing to go through and throw out the old and make way for the new.
It heals on so many levels and as we do this the bubbles of creativity will rise to the surface and again bring froth to our work and life

Connections 2007-01-30 23:44:27
`If we have no peace it is because we have forgotten we belong to each other.’ Mother Teresa
The movie `Babel’ brings home strongly how the actions of one person can have impact on lives all around the world.
The reality of our contemporary world is that the actions of all of us impact on others in our world.
This makes more powerful the individual’s creative walk, their need to stay in that place where they can access the clear, bubbling broke of creativity and allow that strength to manifest in their work and actions.
Understanding and working with your creativity is how new artwork, new music, new writing and new ideas emerge.
Our world needs this inspiration and it is up to all of us to connect to the beauty and strength that lies within us all and make this the reality of our world.
Each day we learn of more happening to our planet and know the time is getting shorter for us to achieve change.

To Bear Fruit 2007-01-31 23:40:17
`Life without love is like a tree without blossoms or fruit.’ Kahil Gibran
Staying in a place where we continue to blossom and bear fruit is not often easy.
Our spirit can easily lose it’s ability to access our creative source and our tree can feel leafless and barren.
But the barest winter trees often have the most beautiful blossoms in spring and the richest harvest of autumn fruit, so while we are experiencing our winter moments ahead is always the spring of possibilities.
So many times I have felt I would never paint again, never write again, but always the spirit has been renewed, and once more the fingers have run over the keys, the brushes have sung with color and that feeling of life that only creativity can bring has once more blossomed forth in my life.
These times of barrenness have been both short and long but always one day the sap has started to run again and the bloom of creativity has again created color and joy.

Creative Color 2007-02-04 09:44:55
An art exercise you may like to try.
It is an exercise is about using color in a new, free way established by a small group of artists called the Fauves.
These artists worked at the beginning of the twentieth century and went on to become powerful voices in twentieth century art.
This period in their art careers was about liberating their art from the tight rules and creeds of the current art scene. They were called `The Fauves’ or wild beasts by the critics as their art was so different from other work at that time.
They used bold, strong brush strokes of expressive color for both the object and its outline. Often their objects looked quite flat as they did not attempt to make them realistic.
Their work was however important in establishing the individual artist’s right to listen to their own creative inspiration.
I hope working in this way will be as liberating for you.
First take a look at some of the Fauves Images.
For the exercise you will need one piece of paper and Read more:Color
Mint Credit Cards 2007-02-04 09:42:40 MINT is a business name of The Royal Bank of Scotland and it provides top credit cards.
In 2003 they introduced the Mint Credit Card.
There were two versions , the standard and the MC2 card which has the bottom right-hand corner removed. Great looking card this one and very innovative as credit cards had not changed their shape in the UK in 37 years.
The Mint credit cards offering 0% interest on balance transfers and purchases until December makes it just a great card for debt transferral or just plain buying.
In Sept 2006 Mint was innovative again with the introduction of its Mint Gift Card. This is pre-paid credit card you give as a gift.
Wish someone would give me one. Can think of a million things I like to buy with a card like that.

The Real You Collage 2007-02-05 01:30:56
Another exercise to encourage your creative spirit.
This was a favorite of my students when I was teaching in high schools. I think they liked it because it helped them get a clearer picture of themselves.
I do hope if you do this exercise it will be enriching. It’s a simple exercise and actually fun. You will be creating a collage of all your favorite objects.
You will need a pile of your favorite magazines, a piece of cardboard and some paste. Scissors are optional as is a varnish to seal the final exercise.
In short you will go through the magazines and collect any pictures that create interest or joy in you when you see them and either tear or cut them out.
You can also collect these pictures over a period of time from whatever resources are available, put them in a folder and then use them later for the collage.
Having a folder of your favorite objects is always a great idea for any artist. When you want to work but the ideas are a little low you can always gain inspiration Read more:Collage

Drawing Exercise 2007-02-05 23:38:58
If If you are walking your own `Creative Walk’ you may like to try this simple drawing exercise.
All you require is a pencil and paper and an object that means something to you and which you would enjoy to draw.
First look carefully at your object. This is an important part of the exercise as when you begin to draw you will be looking a the object and not the paper.
Some hints to help you in this exercise.
First imagine that your pencil is touching the object as you draw.
Second. draw one line or one part of the form at a time.
You can stop during the exercise but when you go back to drawing again remember to look only at the object and not at the paper.
Your object will not look exactly perfect but will have an expressive character. It may take a few tries to get into the flow of this way of drawing, but it is a liberating exercise once you start to focus on the object itself rather than your preconceived perception of the object.
This exercise also develops your hand and eye Read more:Exercise
About Loans 2007-02-05 23:36:01 Paid a visit to my friendly bank manager this week to see what he could offer me in the way of loans .
Got a pleasant surprise as because I have paid off some money on my home loans I am eligible for a got one of the banks secured loans.
This is a loan made against the equity in your home and you can use it for almost anything although a lot of people do use them to do work they need to do on their home.
Just think you could use the money you have worked hard to put into your home for a new business, a new car, or even a honeymoon or dream holiday.
Discovering this made all the sacrifices I had paid to get money into my mortgages seem well worth while, and it was good to see my bank manager actually smiling and offering me some money.
Discovered also while I was there another great way to go with loans.
If your loans are kind of scattered, or the interest rate has altered or whatever you can actually get remortgages.
Many lending institutions actually have remortgage departments Read more:Loans
Simple Paper Exercise 2007-02-11 09:56:18
The simplest things such as these small dune flowers can have beauty.
Matisse a greatly repected artists used simple paper cut-outs to create some of his most well recognised works.
Paper cut-outs make exciting, strong images. They use simple materials but combine the shapes and colors in such a way as to produce powerful compositions. It is an exciting way to work.
To begin this exercise chose for your background a piece of strong paper or card. White is good, but you can also use color as long as it enables your cut-outs to stand out.
You will also need paste and the paper for your cut-outs..
For your cut-outs you can paint paper into strong, bright colors or use recycled pieces of paper either plain or with interesting patterns or both.
Now to create your compostition.
Some of you may like to simplify objects like Matisse.
Strong designs can also be achieved by repeating simple shapes such as circles, stars, petal shapes, triangles or squares in different combinations.

Money for You 2007-02-11 04:51:44 I am just beginning to place a button at the bottom of each blog I write.
This is the button I will be placing.
I would like to explain to my viewers just what this button is about.
My regular viewers will have noticed that between my regular blogs I have been placing sponsored posts.
I am a member of a great program called PayPerPost and write these posts through them.
Like most of you I am always looking for those few extra pennies and am pleased to say PayPerPost is an honest and innovative company that does pay you for what you do.
Before I found PayPerPost I had been spending a lot of time on my blogs and was struggling to find a ways to build traffic, get a few pennies in return and to pay for my blog hosting.
Other companies I found always seemed to make things so complicated and never seemed to pay out, so it took me a while to actually believe PayPerPost was as good as it seemed although I could only find good things being said about them by the other `Posties’.

`For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreads out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat comes, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.’ Jeremiah 17:8
It has been a long, hot, dry summer in Australia and although today where I live is having a steady, strong rain it has been a strange feeling this summer.
All the radios and television programs have been reminding us of the pending water shortages and the reality of change happening in our world is impossible to overlook.
It has had an impact on my creative work and I am asking for clear inspiration where to take my new images.
As artists we struggle to work in truth and clarity and with a rapidly changing world that requires ongoing time for us to reflect and absorb the realities we perceive.

A New Walk 2007-02-14 07:06:11
`If the path be beautiful let us not ask where it leads.’ Anatole France
The creative walk is always a journey never a destination.
Always when we think we are there another turn of the road will reveal more twists and turns ahead.
Maintaining the ongoing strength to continue along this path requires the same disciplines and stamina as for any journey.
We need to learn to keep in mind where we want to go and not take too much with us that we become loaded down.
The continual shedding of heavy baggage is always part of the creative walk.
Whenever we start to feel bogged down we need to stop and rest in a quiet place and go through what we are taking with us on the journey that has caused us to tire under its weight.
When we have offloaded all the extraneous baggage we will once more be able to lift our bag and walk forward with renewed energy.
If it is unclear what needs to be thrown out, maybe it is time to sit quietly and think until it becomes clear what is holding you bac
How to Save 2007-02-14 07:02:12 Today with so many options out there it is all too easy to make mistakes and end up losing money we could actually save. I know I have fallen into this trap.

To Bloom 2007-02-16 06:52:03
`Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher.’ William Wordsworth
Whenever I feel lacking in strength I go and look at my lemon tree.
It continues to produce blossoms inspite of heat and drought, and innumerable grasshoppers who relish it’s leaves.
I planted it in what I knew was a tough position but it was the best I could offer. Yet without fail it has produced for me the sweetest, most succulent lemons.
I cannot believe the strength in that little tree.
Our creativity is like this strength.
We think this new circumstance will surely rob us of force yet it continues to push up forward and show us its power.
Those dark days when you think you will never pick up a brush, write those words or pen that poem again pass and again the colors sing, and the words flow and fill your page with rhythm and beauty.
Even today as I captured more grasshoppers nibbling away on its leaves I was concerned about my lemon tree, but then I looked more closely and saw l Read more:Bloom

I have been writing sponsored posts for PayPerPost for sometime on my blogs and have found them to be a great for a blogger such as myself.
Now they have also a great new segmentation system that awards bloggers with high traffic blogs.
If you are one of those lucky people you could make up to $1000 for a single sponsored post!
Other top paying offers in there as well.
It is a great system they have, we smaller bloggers get plenty of opportunities to write on interesting topics but those clever and dedicated bloggers with lots of traffic and top rankings can make really top money.
A great incentive to improve your own blog as well.
Another great things about PPP is they only charge a 35% service fee compared to ReviewMe for example that charges a 100% markup.
That’s right with PPP you actually get more of the money that is being paid for the opportunity going into your pocket. That’s important.
