Sorry about the delay in this week’s issue. Your favorite Canadian writer has been sidelined day-to-day with torn rib cartilage (Yes, that’s seriously what happened). Anyways, without further adieu, onto the column.
1st and 10 Fantasy- Week 10
Lots of divisional matchups should provide emotion to a solid cast of games this weekend. A couple of big matchups in the NFC East and AFC North with go a long way to deceiding who shakes out of these divisions on top. I think this week is crunch time for the Browns if they want to prove that they belong in the wildcard spot they currently occupy. Beating the Ravens and Bengals has not proved to be difficult, but coming away with a win at the Ketchup Bottle should cement them into contender status.
On the FF front, I came up huge with The Packer passing game, Lee Evans and V

I’m kicking myself again for getting rid of Showtime a few weeks ago. Tonight one of my favorite fighters, Nick Diaz is facing off in a title shot against KJ Noons on EliteXC: Renegade live on Showtime at 10pm Eastern. Also on the card is the Kimbo Slice, the internet’s own backyard brawler has decided to take the fight game up. Check out Sam Caplan’s preview HERE.
Here are some video previews from ProElite.com…

Message from Evan Tanner to thieving Bastards 2007-11-10 10:46:10 Apparently Evan Tanner
’s SUV was broken into. Here is a message from tanner to whoever the thieving bastard is…
I’m really disappointed. I had some things stolen out of my Land Cruiser last night while it was parked in front of the gym. The UFC had just given me a brand new workout bag full of shirts and beanies, with a personalized engraved name tag. They took that. What I’m most upset about though, is that they took all of my mma trading cards that I sign for the fans and the kids. Come on now, that’s really uncool. It was all in a storage container in the back of the Cruiser. I’m not sure what else was in it. If whoever did this happens to read this, be cool, at least give my trading cards back. I need those for the fans. It would also be nice to have the name tag back. My car will be in the same place as it was last night. You can just drive by and throw the cards in the back. No questions asked. It would be nice to have everything returned, bu Read more:Message
Come get your 1st Half Report Cards! 2007-11-10 08:48:55 You have to love the NFL. You really just don’t know from one season to the next…or sometimes from one week to the next…who teams are going to stack up once they get on the field. What we have done here at TINO this week is compiled report cards for certain categories determined on how they rank in the league by some stat categories. Doing this reminded me of being a first grader in Azusa, California walking home from school. The kid I was walking with was all stressed out about what his Mom would do when she seen his report card. My mind worked quickly to come to the solution of hiding it under a car tire where she would never find it. Mom frowned on it, I denied being involved.St. Louis Rams and Miami Dolphins, go out to the parking lot and pick a car.
Here are some links that break them down by division. Check them out, at least stop by to say hey to the ladies in each post.

1st and 10 Fantasy/Week Eleven 2007-11-16 06:24:31 NOTE: This was written by TJFord or very own Dudley Dooright from the Great White North.
With bye weeks over, we have a full slate of games this weekend both heading into the Thanksgiving games. A handful of bad games on paper (read: OAK @ MIN sans Mr. Peterson) mixed in with a few potential barnburners and a sprinkling of divisional matchups should make for a solid weekend of football.
This year has been unprecedented with starting running back injuries. 22 teams have lost their RB1 or RB1a to injury for at least one game. That list will grow to 24 teams this week as super-rookies Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch will not play for their respective teams this week. Those who resisted temptation to trade away their running depth earlier in the season are likely the ones who aren’t feeling the pinch at this point.
Last week was another horrible week for game predictions but a solid week for fantasy plays. The Saints/Rams game was a fantasy goldmine and I hit on all major calls e Read more:Eleven
Is your Pro Bowl Ballot in? 2007-11-16 06:16:10
It’s your duty as a football fan to vote! We don’t want any unproven QB’s slipping in there now do we? I guess that Tony Romo thing has worked out this season but I didn’t agree with it last year.
I know, I know…you say “My vote doesn’t matter” but what could it hurt? If you don’t vote you can’t bitch if Larry Johnson gets in on name alone and the Law and Order guy becomes your President.

Beck and Ricky “hope” in Miami? 2007-11-15 06:44:24 Is there really any reason for the Dolphins to take Ricky
Williams back? I don’t know what the money situation is with them and don’t pretend to be trying to keep up with it. I’m just thinking that they obviously threw in the towel on the season with the Chambers trade. They are now turning over the team (in the pleasant atmosphere of Philly) to who they hope is their QB of the future and “He’ll never be Marino” guy, John Beck. Strange things going on down there.
Miami
herald.com calls the John Beck move and Ricky talk, “clinging to hope.” I don’t know, I guess I’m still confused about wanting to win this year and the whole Chambers trade thing. Of course the players want to win now but there isn’t much they can do about the moves they are making up front. I bet there is a whole lot of hindsight going on for Joey Porter. Would he welcome Ricky?
”Yeah I would. We’re 0-9,” Porter said. “ I&rs
Free MMA Show Friday night! 2007-11-14 15:41:32 I love me some MMA and I can’t afford the PPV. Something that is becoming more common, and great for poor saps like me, is live streaming online. This Friday

Available to all internet users located beyond a 150 mile radius of San Jose, the live stream, free of charge to viewers, will begin at 8 PM PST (11 PM EST) and include the entire Strikeforce four-man, single-elimination tournament, featuring middleweight (185 lb. limit) stars Trevor Prangley (16-4), Falaniko Vitale (24-7), Yuki Sasaki (21-13-1), and Jorge Santiago (14-7). Each tournament bout will consist of two, five-minute rounds.
Also included during the stream will be the Strikeforce world heavyweight championship battle between Paul “The Headhunter” Buentello (23-9) and Alistair “The Demolition Man” Overeem (25-11); the middleweight showdown between undefeated Cung Le and The Ultimate Fighter season 2 star, Sam “The Squeeze
NFL Jabber 11/14/07 2007-11-14 07:12:53 Can’t we all just get along? The battle between the NFL Network and Cable companies continues. We are coming into the stretch where eight games will be aired on the NFL Network. November 29th there is an important game that many won’t see, The Packers vs. The Cowboys. I won’t see it. I know, I know…get a satellite, right? Can’t where I live and I can’t move for it.
Cable has the upperhand by not rolling over like the networks do…
“For once we’re in the position of an independent programmer as opposed to a content-seller,” Frank Hawkins, the league’s senior vice president for business affairs, said yesterday. And the resistance has surprised him. Currently, about 8 million of the NFL Network’s 35 million subscribers come from cable; nearly all the rest are from satellite.
On the one hand, I don’t want to pay more for the NFL Network in a sports package on cable, but I would if it was an option. So I will be watching USC Read more:Jabber

They say that there should not be a playoff in College Football because the whole season is a playoff. That theory is not standing up right now as the Kansas Jayhawks sit at 10-0 and are ranked #3 in the BCS and #4 in the Coaches and Harris Poll. If the season ended today they would not be in the BCS Championship game. Dennis Dodd thinks they are the #1 team right now.
MGOBLOG seems to think that Lloyd Carr will announce his reteirment soon.
Three separate sources indicate that Carr has made his decision to retire official and people around the athletic department are being told. The formal announcement will come after the Ohio State game, possibly at the Monday press conference, possibly a day or two later.

Who in the HELL Do I start Week Eleven? 2007-11-12 18:35:47 Chester Taylor should be the weekly waiver wire ho that everyone is after this week. Adrian Peterson is out at least a week, maybe three. If for some reason you had Taylor sitting on your bench…good for you. The upcoming schedule favors it.
Bye weeks are gone. We now come into the land of Thursday Night games that the NFL Network will be robbing of your viewing pleasure unless your one of those people that can have one of those satellite thingys. If you are and you have the NFL Network, I envy you.
Anyway…We are in prime playoff chase time for fantasy football! What do you have? Need some start/sit? Still able to trade? Let’s have them in the comment box.

What did Joe Everyfan think of EliteXC: Renegade? 2007-11-12 06:41:01 I have not had the pleasure of going to any live MMA events. There is talk of the UFC coming to Chicago and I’m considering going to some home IFL events for the Quad City Silverbacks. I must admit I’m concerned with the live event as opposed to on TV. I would think
it would be hard to see anything.
Koopa, you went to the EliteXC Renegade
event this weekend. How do you compare the live production as to watching it on TV?
Well, with floor seats it kinda sucked, cause once the match went to the ground you couldn’t really see anything, you ended up having to look at the big screen……. so if anyone goes, say no to floor seats, also, there was a dude that was like 6 feet tall and the dude was standing on his chair, so I had to stand on my chair……. the American Bank Center is pretty much a shack, when they come back, I’m getting seats in the stands cause they had a much better view then I did…..
Now don’t get me wrong, cause t

Who would have thought that this game would have so much meaning when the schedule came out this year? The Packers have a pretty good grasp on the division right now at 9-1. The Lions are in Wild Card mode and need every win they can get. I always pull for the Lions on Thanksgiving. This season though I’m pulling for Favre as it MAY be his last…or not. I would also like to see both teams
Cool MMA Deals 2007-11-21 16:03:29 Last month I wanted to check out FIGHT! Magazine to see if it was worth subscribing. I picked one up and subscribed right away. They are running a pretty cool deal right now. If you take a quick survey you get a few bucks knocked off the subscription rate so it’s yours for $9.95. I thought it was a separate promotion but they also have a deal where you get a free Beanie from Combat Sports with a subscription. Turns out I got both deals because my beanie was waiting for me today when I got home. A Beanie and year subscription to a magazine for under $10, what a bargain for me!
Another deal I just bought was from ProElite.com. They are running a deal on Pay Per View Events for the month of December. You get three cards streamed live and then you also have the fights saved in your account like an “On Demand” deal where you can watch them anytime you want.
Think there’s a monopoly in MMA? Then you’ve never watched these premier events from around the world. D
Favre could stay…or go 2007-11-20 19:53:28 The annual Brett Favre
retirement talk in the press is starting early, in Detroit. It would be cool to see him come back..I guess. If they could advance further and every AFC city fell of the face of the earth so he could get one more Super Bowl ring.
I have to say I’m pulling for the guy to get one more ring as I have mentioned before. But it would suck for me to devote so much pulling for this season ( with my Saints being crap) if he is just going to keep coming back. this is about me Brett, not you.
“If last season gave me hope, if I felt optimistic after our Chicago game last year at 8-8 and not making the playoffs, sure, I obviously have to feel a little bit better — especially individually,” Favre said.
Still, Favre made it clear that nothing is assured.
“If the season was over today, I could look in a mirror and say, ’You can play. You don’t have to say I think I can. You know you can,’” Favre said. “Now, with each year — and it’d be 18 years

Football Feast Thursday! 2007-11-20 05:43:17 Thanksgiving and football. Up until just a few years ago family and friends got together for the annual Bloated Bowl. After pounding as much bird flesh, mashed potatoes and gravy and beer into us as possible we would take the block long walk to the park. Spectacular pigskin play ensued. My wife earned the nickname “The Wall” a few years ago after my sissy of a cousin ran into her as she stood still and then he lay on the ground crying holding his knee.
Now the bloated bowl seems to be retired. The kids got older and faster and we got older and slower. People moved away, blah, blah, blah. I miss it but after a flag football game where the adults took on the kids at the alternative school I work at last week, I realize I really am getting too old for this shit. Don’t get me wrong, we kicked their ass. I had the play of the day still getting talked about this week, going up for the ball and getting flattened by a kid that has about 40 lbs on me. “Hello? Have you seen my Career?” 2007-11-19 07:14:07 Remember when Joe Horn left the Saints pissed off? I wish I could find the video of that press conference. There was all the makings of two “I’ll show you Saints!” games this season.
Ol’Joe couldn’t have known about the Mike Vick dog thing, unless he noticed the pooch blood on Mike’s shoes and milk bones falling from his pockets.
We really have not even been able to see Joe get pissed about Joey Harrington being the QB…then Byron Leftwich making Harrington look good.
Here is a kick ass highlight video of Joe’s season with the Falcons…
Season stats:

This just in…the Cowboys are best friggen team in the NFC and will easily be the Conference rep to be beat in the Super Bowl. (EDIT: Sorry Brett. I forgot about the Packers early this morning in my pre-coffee post. May both teams win Thursday so the game hording NFL Network has the NFC game of the year).
Remember when Thomas Jones got sent to the Jets? I thought he was going to be pissed off and just tear it up. The I noticed he was on the Jets and they suck. He got his first 100 yard game of the season against the Steelers. Whodathunkit? Whodathunk the friggen Jets would have beat the Steelers? Not me and if you say you did you have to be a Jets fan lying to yourself and me.

Shaping the BCS Title Game 2007-11-26 18:42:50 The BCS title game is shaping up. There are actually quite a few left in the hunt going into this weekend. They say every week of the College Football season is a playoff, let’s see how this weekends playoff games look…
#1 11-1 vs. #9 10-2
This is where conference title games can go wrong. Right now Missouri sit perched at the top spot for the first time in 38 years but the Big 12 title game against Oklahoma looms for this weekend. OU won the first matchup earlier this season 41-31. Some say their experience is going to give them the win here and in fact the Sooners are favored by 3 points. Win and in Tigers…win and in! A win for OU can get them in the title game with some help.
#2 10-1 vs. 4-7
For West Virginia it’s “Win and in.” Standing in their way is a Pitt team that owns a 59-37-3 record in the series, although most of them are way back as WV has a 15-10-2 record since 1980 in the rivalry. Putting all that aside, WV is a 26.5 p Read more:Title
Monday AM Hangover/ Week 12 2007-11-26 07:34:46 How bad is the NFC? Being one game over .500 has you in the playoffs. The 0-4 starting Saints are still in it folks as they trail just the Eagles and Lions for the #6 seed. They smacked the hell out of their division rival Panthers. Week 13 is going to be a major week as far as shaping the playoff hunt in the NFC as six teams sit at 5-6, a game behind those Lions.
The Bears Adrian Peterson is going to be getting the rock now that Cedric Benson is out for the season. I said before the season started that Peterson would be a fantasy sleeper stud if anything happened to Benson….we will see.
Picture this…Adrian Peterson+the Vikings D+QB play. If they ever get all three of those together they could be dangerous. They were yesterday with Chester Taylor filling in the Peterson part of the equation.
