Blogger Fantasy League Drafts today!
2007-08-19 08:21:28
Team TINO Sports Page Mascots So you could say I’m a little on the enthusiastic side of pumped. The fantasy football league that has evolved out of a mock draft that I did with some other bloggers is about to go live in a little less than two hours. I’m a little nervous because the electricity just went out here. Didn’t last long. I hate how Yahoo! doesn’t let you in until just before the draft. I want to get my queue going. Below is the draft order…check those blogs out when you have a chance. They are good and I have a feeling that none of these people have killed any dogs. I will return after ward with some thoughts on how my draft shaped up. NFLGuru.net Curveballs for Jesus This Just In The Hazean Fantasy Football Goats FanProphet The NFL Minute Me. You are here. With the Patriots WR corps so stacked, it’s crazy to think that Donte Stallworth could be cut. There are only so many spots to be filled and the bottom line is that those that produce in the preseason will be the ones that stay. Although Stallworth will get some slack for being injured, every game and snap counts in this race. Two tom Brady INT’s thrown in Friday’s game against the Titans were meant for Stallworth. “I slipped on the first one and the second one Tom threw the ball where I was supposed to be and I wasn’t exactly where I was supposed to be,” Stallworth said. “There are no excuses. It’s just something where I have to learn the way Tom plays and understand the way this offense is supposed to be run. “I’ve been practicing for a week now. It was good to get some of the rust off, but at the same time, as the days go on you want to start making fewer and fewer mistakes. And hopefully by the time you need to get t

A Sigh Heard Around the Fantasy World
2007-08-21 15:08:38
Nobody really thought that Larry Johnson would sit out the 2007 football season. But you know that there were a lot of fantasy owners that took Johnson that were likely checking on the status of this holdout several times a day. Johnson fell to number four in many drafts (#6 in one draft I was in) and those owners have to be doing cartwheels today as Johnson’s holdout has ended. The Kansas City Star said Johnson was at practice Tuesday afternoon, after agreeing to a five-year contract extension that will take him through the 2012 season. The paper said the new deal will pay the 2003 first-round pick $45 million over the next six years. There was also a sigh of “Bummer” from all the guys that drafted Priest Holmes thinking they were getting the steal of the draft. tag: nfl, football, sports, fantasy football, chiefs, larry johnson

Never EVER bet against Couture (video)
2007-08-26 08:46:23
There may come a day when you will lose a bet on Randy Couture . But I tell you, my money is on this man until then. At 44 years old he has dominated his last two title defenses. The fight against Gabriel Gonzaga was pure domination. Randy was never in trouble and threw Gonzaga around like a rag doll. The fight could have ended in the second round when Gonzaga told Herb Dean that he could not see while being controlled by Couture. This stopped the fight temporarily. Dean asked if he was going to continue and seemed a little annoyed that he was complaining he couldn’t see but wanted to continue. “You can either fight or can’t fight.” When will Couture hang it up? He has shown that he can still do it….and better than those younger and stronger. Will he go out on top or will it take a loss? Watch this video while you can as they don’t stay up long. tag: ufc, video, gonzaga, couture, ufc 74

NFC South…some might say a preview
2007-08-25 16:27:49
This is one of a series we are doing on the NFL Divisions. The Predicted Division Finish was compiled by looking at the schedule week to week. I know some of them look outlandish but that is how the dice fell. Crazy, huh? The Poll results are taken from polls at There is NO Offseason. Predicted Division Finish: Saints 10-6 Panthers 10-6 Bucs 3-13 Falcons 2-14 TINO Poll results Saints 71% Falcons 14% Panthers 7% Bucs 7% Member quote: (MCB) I am a huge Bucs fan but still see the Saints taking the division. The Bucs are still in a rebuilding mode as far as I am concerned. Looking at their schedule a 9-7 year would be outstanding in my opinion. I see us going 6-10 or 7-9. The rundown… It’s the Saints division to lose. WOW! Have we ever heard that said? That is what is all over the place this season in the previews. Crazy stuff. We feel that the Panthers will give the Saints a run. If they do it will be on the back of their defense. The Bucs and Falcons will struggle

NFL Bedpan/Week 3 Injuries of note
2007-09-23 09:23:46
What sucks more on a Sunday than looking at your live scoring or results later in the day only to find that you started Andre Johnson thinking the Texans would be attempting a shootout with the Colts and he was in street clothes? Well, a lot of things suck more but you don’t have to have this kind of suckyness in your life. Make a quick stop by on Sunday mornings and see who is using the bedpan for the weekend, who is hurt but likely to play, or just to let me know I’m not completely talking to myself here. Also, if you have any questions or answers on who to start or sit, see our weekly “Who in the hell do I start?” series. If nothing else there will be another chick pic each week. So enough babble, below you will find those that are out, on the bedrail so to speak, and those not likely to play for each of this Sunday’s games. @ Lions OUT: TE Dan Campbell RB T.J. Wanted to take a minute to pimp some of the sites again that I’m playing with in the Blogger League that resulted out of a fantasy mock draft this spring. Right now five teams remain undefeated. NFL Footballderdash/Week Three
2007-09-20 19:41:42
My new nemesis has proved to be a worthy adversary. Last week we both faltered a little bit. Who seen that Browns offense coming? I’m sure there were more people that fell in survivor games with that loss last week than any other game since the Texans opened the season beating the Dolphins a few years back. Time to look at week three, let’s review. Last Week… TINO: 1-2 Kelloggs23: 1-2 Overall TINO: 4-2 Kelloggs23: 3-3 And now the week three games… @ The Bengals should be ashamed of themselves the way the Browns made their D look like a bunch of boobs (cheap shot to use picture). The offense is hot but they are not playing the Browns D this week. Of course the offense was never the question. Shaun Alexander should have a heyday with these guys this week. What is hard to gauge with the Seahawks is the competition they have played so far. the Bucs and Cards could have both had fluke games, too soon to tell. The 12th man (but not the one in College S

UFC gives Smackdown to UFCtakedown
2007-09-20 16:41:47
From Sprawl ‘n Brawl… Late last week, Matt Cava of UFCtakedown.com was issued a Cease and Desist by Zuffa, LLC. He has been told to remove his website. They specifically nailed him for using UFC in his URL as well as broadcasting illegal fight videos. September 8th’s UFC 75: Champion v. Champion videos as well as a fight between Ricardo Arona and Quinton Jackson were specifically mentioned. As of today, UFCtakedown.com no longer exists. In the meantime, Matt has been able to secure MMAtakedown.net for the time being. In recent months the UFC has really cracked down on videos being posted online of their fights. Within hours of events fights are posted online and then within a few more hours whoever the UFC pays to surf said sites requests that they be removed. As Zuffa, LLC also ownes WEC the same happens with their videos. I’m sorry to hear that UFCtakedown.com is taking the brunt of this as there are tons of sites that do it. I have recently stopped due to

Donovan McNabb is feeling pressure. Not because he is the QB on an 0-2 team in Philly but because he is a black QB. They naturally undergo more pressure in the NFL. I don’t want to sound like I’m not sensitive to the situation but I don’t think Donovan McNabb has felt more pressure any given day in his career for being black than Joey Harrington has felt for being Joey Harrington. “It’s nothing that I’m upset about,” McNabb said. “It’s something about being part of the NFL and communicating with others who have played in this league at the position. That’s just something that we feel we’re kind of measured by. “It’s sad that it’s that way. It’s nothing that’s going to affect what we set out to do.” Calvin Johnson is not paying attention. He is a first round pick for the Lions. He is a WR in his rookie season. He has 8 catches for 131 yards and a couple of TD’s in two gam

Who in the hell do I start week three?

Things are not going as planned on many rosters. Where is LT, LJ, SJax? Wide Receivers are the ones putting up points, especially in PPR leagues. Thanks to everyone that posted questions and or answers last week. I was taken away from the computer Sunday morning so I apologize for not getting to all of them before game time. This week I will be here until kickoff. Those that posted comments won’t have to wait for the approval to have comments post now (damn spammers make us do it). We really do appreciate the help in getting this little project up and running. Thanks to Fantasyfootballgoat.com for the linkage and props last week. So what do you have on your mind? Thinking about starting all those Browns over guys that are supposed to be sure things but have not panned out? What’s with the Saints players?Getting some trade offers or thinking of offering one? Post your questions and answers in the box below. We had more people answering them than asking last week.

NFL Footballderdash/Week two
2007-09-14 19:00:03
My new nemesis and I, Kelloggs23, are set to make our week two picks here for Footballderdash. Last week the only game that separated our picks was the San Diego and Chicago game. I’m happy to say that I came out on top in that debate picking the Chargers. The Bengals had us on our toes but came through. We benefited from the Tony Romo, T.O. love affair as the Cowboys downed the Giants. Last week… TINO: 3-0 Kelloggs23: 2-1 Overall TINO: 3-0 Kelloggs23: 2-1 Let’s get to this weeks games! @ The Chargers have a chip on their shoulder from the Pats ending their season in the playoffs last season. The offense didn’t have much of a showing….but enough…against the Bears last week. Nothing against Rivers but why not just make LT an option QB? Rivers will have to step up this week as the Patriots will be sure to key on Tomlinson. The Patriots should be looking to prove they can win without cheating this weekend. They have more offensive power th

JaMarcus Russell/Done Deal?
2007-09-10 21:14:58
According to the scroll during MNF, Len Pastabelly is reporting that the Raiders are signing JaMarcus Russell to a six-year deal on Tuesday. Go head, let him start Sunday. San Joe Mercury News and Steve Corkran have more… The Raiders have agreed to pay No. 1 draft pick JaMarcus Russell at least $31 million guaranteed after lengthy negotiations with the quarterback’s agents the past four days, according to two people familiar with the situation. Reaching that figure clears the way for Russell’s signing a contract at any time, perhaps as soon as today. Raiders coach Lane Kiffin confirmed as much. “It just continues to sound like they are getting closer and closer,” Kiffin said at his weekly news conference Monday. “It could be (Monday). You just never know. I know that the sides are as close as they’ve ever been.” The proposed deal is expected to be for six years and make it possible for Russell to earn as much as $60 million over the li

What happened to the ball that tied Dan Marino’s TD record last weekend? Equipment manager, Red Batty, ran in and swiped it from Greg Jennings and came out of a pile of green and yellow (it’s not gold Packer fans) and came out  with the ball. Coach McCarthy didn’t even know what’s up when watching a highlight reel. “I was like, ‘What the hell is Red Batty doing in there?’” McCarthy said. Assistant video director Chris Kirby told him, “That’s the ball that tied the record.” Red will be stalking the sidelines this weekend as well. “In the game today, you’ve got to be able to capture those moments,” Batty said Friday. “That football is very important to Brett, to the Packers organization, but more importantly to Canton, Ohio, Hall of Fame.” Meanwhile with the Packers, Vernand Morency is going to play this year, starting this weekend. Grasshopper has swiped the stone for my hand and once again has proven to be a worthy adversary. My confidence that Rex Grossman would be inconsistent in his bad play and have a decent game made the overall series tied at 6-3. Last Week TINO: 2-1 (6-3 overall) Kelloggs23: 3-0 (6-3 overall) @ I usually make a point not to read Kelloggs23’s post before doing my own. I did today and I have to wonder how this kid even knows what Steve Largent looks like…impressive. The Giants have banked up their defense all season into one quarter last week. They looked great in that 4th quarter but I’m not forgetting about the ten quarters before that. The Eagles are coming off their best offensive game of the year and would love to take that into New York to pound on a division rival. Eagles just plain outclass the Giants in this one. Who in the hell do I start week four?

Bye weeks and injuries. Loads of fun in fantasy land. Waiver wires are heating up depending on the depth of the league your in. Time to make some moves? Personally I have SJax in a lot of leagues so this is a wrench in my program in a lot of leagues. He has been under performing but did get a bunch of carries and put up some yards this week. So anyway, have some roster moves your thinking of making? Your guy hurt? Who in the hell do you start? Slap down some questions in the comments below…and answers if you have them. I’ll start. Check this out…SJax is my #1 back in this dynasty league. I have Fred Taylor, MJ Drew, and Marion Barber as my other RB’s. SJax’s groin didn’t care that the Jags have a bye week. So luckily I can start 1 RB and add a WR. I have Randy Moss, Roy Williams, and Torry Holt going. For WR #4 I have a choice between Vincent Jackson (who finally came on last week) against the Chiefs or Wes Welker against the Bengals

It was pretty obvious that Coach McCarthy was trying to help Brett Favre get to the TD record this weekend as they were going to the line with an empty backfield on the goal line. It was also pretty awesome to watch. The pretty thing about the record tying TD was that it was to win the game. That made the whole thing all good. You know he was going to get tot he record this season but it would have taken away from the feeling had it been in a loss. The Packers are 3-0 folks. More records to be had. It’s fun to watch what COULD be Favre’s last season. Donovan McNabb shouldn’t see as much pressure for being black this week after a monster game and the Eagles winning…but that doesn’t have anything to do with it. I wonder if the suicide rate jumped in New Orleans last night. Not only is the team looking like a high dollar AINT’s team, Deuce could be out for the season. The crew didn’t make it any easier to watch the game with the

Amazingly enough, it wasn’t until the thirteenth question at Sean Payton’s press conference that Reggie Bush was brought up. In the running back rotation, will you give Reggie Bush more carries or will Aaron Stecker take over Deuce’s role? “Reggie will get more carries. Stecker will be involved and Pierre Thomas will be involved, but you’ll see Reggie get more handoffs.” There is a new big orange billboard in Denver calling for Ricky Williams to be a Bronco. First impulse is to think Marc Bulger was benched because he and the Rams have sucked so far this season. Not so says the Coach, it’s because of those ribs. We can look forward to them sucking even with Gus Frerotte. “Any theories or anything said out there are absolutely not true,” Linehan said. “I look forward to a healthy Marc Bulger getting back in the lineup as soon as possible. “It’s obvious to me there is something genuinely wrong, and I knew

Who in the hell do I start Week Five?

Are you getting hit by injuries on top of bye weeks? I don’t know that I have had it this bad before. Could be because I’m in so many leagues this season but it sure does seem like it’s pouring rather than raining. So let’s have them. Questions/answers on start/bench. Trade offers? Who to pick up for FA? I’ll share a little bit. I’m not big on trades myself. I’m usually too attached to who I draft and it has worked well for me. I’m kicking myself in the ass now when prior to week one I accepted a counter to a trade offer where I sent Tony Romo and T.O. off for Marc Bulger and Marvin Harrison. I was not yet sold on Romo (week one had not even been played yet) last season and thought I was getting more out of that deal. IDIOT! Monday AM Hangover/Week Four

My 3 1/2 year-old son was bouncing on my chest wanting me to hang him upside down again when I stopped him and turned his focus to the TV again. I was doing this on every Packers play. I got the pleasure of watching Brett Favre throw TD’s #241 and 242 with my boy. He won’t remember it but I can always tell him he seen it. Kudos to Brett Favre! We need more like him. He is the anti-thug that the NFL needs more of. Press conferences in beat up jeans and a t-shirt with the pickup parked outside. Look at it this way Dan Marino…there will be less talk about how you have all these records but no Super Bowl ring. Okay, I’m just about convinced that Tony Romo is for real. An interesting comparison that I guess has been going around but I had not heard yet is that of Romo to Roger Staubach. Even from Roger himself. If your going to let your QB got smashed by an 308 pound DT (Niners O-Line) and lose him in favor of Trent Dilfer…at least lay a hand on hi

I’m a big fan of the new NFL.com Game Center. I just wonder how long before they try to charge for it. Up to this point the Saints had looked like they were in the Way Back Machine to 2004. Sunday they finally found the knob to take them to 2006 as they finally turned in a performance that looked like the team that came a game short of the Super Bowl. Reggie Bush will give them something to talk about this week as he played like a feature back. Despite scoring 27 against the Patriots, the Cowboys looked like that kid that is really good playing in the empty lot against his friends but is pretty average when strapping on the pads and going out for the high school team. The Pats are just bullies. Don’t fret Cowboy fans, you will still rule the empty lot (NFC). LT turned in his first real LT like performance of the year with over 200 total yards and 4 TD’s. Welcome back to fantasy land LT owners! The old Culpepper returned too with a couple of INT’s and a f

NCAA Salad tossed in a few hours
2007-10-14 07:43:33
In a few short hours the NCAA football season was turned upside down. First came the loss of LSU to Kentucky, which should end their reign as the undisputed #1 team in college football. Triple overtime in Kentucky. WOW! When the score of the LSU game was announced in Berkley, California there was an uproar. All Cal had to do was get past Oregon State and the top spot would be theirs. Then we seen an episode of “When Redshirt Freshman with the game in their hands Attack.” I saw the field and I thought I could get around that guy,” Kevin Riley said. “It just didn’t happen.” The Golden Bears were on their way to a tie to take the game to overtime (or a shot at winning) which would have made for an amazing comeback had they won. But with 14 seconds left the Bears ran one more play. It should have been endzone or throw it away but the kid thought he could run it fourteen yards on a very fast Oregon State D. Just like that, Cal’s possi

NFL Footballderdash/Week Six
2007-10-12 06:25:53
Welcome to week six of NFL Footballderdash. So I read yesterday that the Cowboys and Patriots game will be only the third time since the AFL-NFL merger that two teams 5-0 or better have faced off during a season. So we have that game to pick, among others, but first let’s review… LAST WEEK TINO: 2-1 (10-5 overall) Kelloggs23: 2-1 (9-6 overall) @ Giving Myth a chance to do his hometown thing since he let me go with the Vikings game a couple weeks back. I really, really, really wanna pick the Saints (I think it is only because I am an avid watcher of K-Ville (Monday nights on Fox @ 9pm CST)), but I can’t go against my gut and stick with the Seahawks. They had a big off week against the Steelers last week and Deion Branch is expected to miss the game, but I think Shaun Alexander will be the next to expose the weak New Orleans defense. FGs will be a common factor in this match-up. Kelloggs23: Seattle Seahawks So how it works is I send Kelloggs some games to pick fro

NFL Coach Approval Ratings
2007-10-10 06:38:31
I just recently stumbled across this. ESPN Sports Nation is tracking Approval Ratings for NFL coaches via polls by us….the online public. I thought I would revisit this after reading that Scott Linehan’s position will be re-evaluated after the season. This is the time of year that fans start calling for the head of their coach, right? Pretty interesting if your the kind that likes to follow trends (as I am) and vote in these types of things. You can have a look at week five HERE. Mike Tomlin tops the list this week for good reason. 90% Approval rating. Some of the bottom feeders? Sean Payton 20%, Mike Shanahan 20%, Cam Cameron 18%, Scott Linehan 17% (somehow up from 9% the last two weeks), Herm Edwards 17%, Brad Childress 16%. They give a brief summary of last weeks performance. Clicking on the link for each coach will give you the chance to vote and gives you a chart from the last two seasons.
