Diamonds--ppp
2007-07-04 01:17:00
~~~~~~~~~This is a ppp ad~~~~~~~~~~ I clearly remember the first summer I spent with Scott. Just today, as we watched the huge parade in the Big City, I remembered that first summer of us sitting on the sidelines, in the grass, watching many of the same floats pass us by. It was actually the first time in my life that I had ever eaten a baked potato--and liked it! The heat was horrible, my
Dirty Laundry
2007-07-03 23:31:00
Ordinary Days is hosting a contest challenging us to air our dirty laundry. I just realized I have about 30 minutes to still enter the contest. I think it's such a cute idea for a blog contest and she's offering a $25 card to target! Isn't that sweet? One thing I hid from not just you guys, but also my family was what was in the trash can next to the computer. I ate these for breakfast, lunch
Throughout My Dying Days
2007-07-03 23:12:00
We recently visited my son's grave site and this time, (and I have no idea why the thought never occurred to me before) I realized this is where my body is going to someday lay forever. I think the thought never crossed my mind because I always viewed it as the place my son is and will always remain throughout the heat of the summer and the cold of the winter and I always wish I could just bring
Sparkle on Little Sparkler, Sparkle on
2007-07-08 23:50:00
Last night, my husband, daughter and I went in the front yard and played with some sparklers. Here's my husband trying to write his name. I keep telling him he has horrible handwriting. However, at least this time, his handwriting was pretty. Can anyone make out a word on that? Then he pretended to be a cowboy and lasso a cow. Actually, it's just him showing off his creativity. All he does
I've been tagged!
2007-07-08 21:27:00
Thank you very much to Rose Cottage Lane, Skittles (a very long time ago!), and Ladystamper for tagging me for some memes. I'm flattered and honored that you choose me. :-) Those memes have come to a sudden death and dead end at the wooden porch. Fair thee well. P.S. Other than the Rockin' Blogging Girl award, if you have tagged me and I didn't list you, let me know and I'll add you to the list
Worry & Grief
2007-07-08 20:05:00
It's late at night. My children have long since been tucked down into their beds; my husband is snoring next to me. I'm tired, yet not tired enough to fall asleep. I try to close my eyes and drift peacefully off to sleep. My mind wanders over the events of the day. I think about earlier in the evening, when I was filling the tub up with water and, leaving the room for just a second to change my
Do I have Children or Something?
2007-07-07 13:29:00
While I was sitting here writing, I heard slurping noises coming from wherever in the house Tank was. It dawned on me that I have not made any bottles or sippie cups for him today nor had Belle, but since he wasn't crying and I didn't hear anything that would be cause for alarm, I just ignored it. When I finally did get off my bottom, I realized that he was finishing up the last of his bottle of
Out Of The Garden
Playing With Fire
2007-07-07 13:16:00
Setting up the tripod, I had planned on getting several pictures of a burning smoke bomb. What I hadn't planned on was children, namely Tank, getting in the way of my shot. I spent all my time outside focused on my camera and pulling the children out of the way. It wasn't until I loaded the pictures onto the computer that I realized what my 1 year old son was holding in his hand. Whoops.
Who Am I?
2007-07-07 08:27:00
Blogging is a funny thing. I pick what I write. I pick my topics. I pick my tone. I can purposely choose not to tell you certain things. I weed out the things that I don't want to dwell on, promote, or remember. I don't write truly nasty things. The only way you can get to know me is by the things I choose to write. At first I thought the whole "how I choose to present myself" thing only applied
2007-07-12 01:43:00
Just a quick note to everyone at the Borders store last night, especially those in the "self help", "gardening", and "cooking" section where those nice, plush chairs are set up for comfortable reading. Where I'm sure y'all wanted to relax and find a good book to help yourself overcome depression, determine what to plant in your yard, or cook for your party of 12, but instead were subjected to two
VBS... is nothing but BS?
2007-07-11 15:35:00
I'm in charge of the announcements for our weekly church bulletin. Have you ever seen those funny forwards about bulletin bloopers? They aren't funny to me because I'm always the one to make them. I just realized that last week, instead of announcing a meeting for the staff of VBS, I announced a meeting for the "BS Staff".
My high school reunion
I don't have anything interesting to say about my high school reunion , which was a couple of weeks ago. I promised to show you my cute dress and here it is. I ended up running over to Girl Neighbor to borrow a pair of shoes for the evening. (and um... earrings and a bracelet) It's been so much fun getting to know her! She is incredibly sweet and we are quickly becoming pretty good friends.
We went camping last night. I have a story to share with you, it might involve blood, complete humiliation, and me. but dang-it, life is getting in the way of my writing, so till Monday... (By "life" I mean me sitting on my bed picking at the scab I'm now sporting--or one of them I should say. I'm sorry, but scab picking is pert-near the best entertainment around here. Well, besides that of
Tending the Garden
2007-07-13 09:56:00
Is this July? The gentle sun is only lazily spreading its warmth, the air has given up on dumping out the miserable humidity, and the thermostat puttered out around 78. I think perhaps today had the makings of being the most perfect day ever. Stepping out into the garden... I've discovered my first sunflower has finally opened up. I see the bees are just about as excited about it as I am.
My Recent Harvest
2007-07-18 15:49:00
This time it's a little more impressive than last time. Bending over to pick a couple of green beans, I wondered when the plants would start producing more than just a couple here and there every now and then. Ignoring my children, and whatever it was that Belle was trying to tell me, I then turned to admire the sunflowers. "Mmmm... is that right Honey?" I mumbled. Only when her voice rose to
A Bike Ride
2007-07-17 08:13:00
The bathrooms at the campsite were quite a good clip away from where we had pitched our tent. Thankfully Hubs had made sure we brought along our bikes for our weekend "retreat". When Belle announced she had to go potty right now (!) I realized I had two options, take Hubs' bike with her trailing behind in the the tow behind, or stay at the campsite and wash dishes while Hubs took her. That was
