Typical 2007-08-28 14:56:26
I Struggle To Run Out Of News These Days 2007-08-28 08:31:02 I am yet again changing jobs. This time to a job which is more like the previous position I held. I’m really excited about it, but also sad about leaving a company yet again. I was here just long enough to get used to everyone. All the people here have been incredibly kind, and have really made an effort to make me feel welcome.
But life is about growth, and growth doesn’t happen without change, so I believe that this new opportunity will be better for me. Time will only tell, but there’s no use in wondering what if. We can only make the decisions we believe to be right, and the live 100% for that decision.
I’m still continuing to work in the evenings, which is why I don’t get too much time to write. I miss it like crazy, and I WILL BE BACK. At night before I fall asleep I still think about what I should write, and though I don’t have a lack of ideas, I definitely have a lack of time.
PS. The relaxing was really great!!! Candle
How Sad 2007-08-30 07:00:31 How sad is this?
Zagreb - A Croatian man lay dead for eight years in his flat in downtown Zagreb before a neighbour discovered the body, a local newspaper reported on Wednesday.Ivan Bosanac, born in 1918, went missing in February 1999. His nephew reported his absence to the police, which conducted a brief search of the small attic flat - located just off Zagreb’s main square - but found nothing.
“The flat was full of garbage, literally up to the roof. The policeman had a look inside and concluded there was nobody there,” the nephew, Drazen Bosanac, told the Jutarnji List daily.
Eight years later the next door neighbour, Sasa Mersinjak, decided to clean up the place.
“I put my gloves on and, after digging through the rubble for an hour, I found the body, bare bones covered in a winter coat,” Mersinjak said.
“The flat smelled really bad all these years, but I had always thought it was because of that heap of garbage inside.”

Home Sweet Home 2007-09-25 02:26:36 I dream of the day when I can buy my own house, and hopefully that day isn’t too far away. Its such a stable investment, and you hardly ever lose on property. I have been looking at renting a place closer to the new job, but renting means paying off someone else’s bond! That just seems like such a waste. For a bit more on your monthly payment you can be buying your home instead of renting it!
In South Africa property is rather expensive at the moment, but prices are not so much increasing anymore. A while back the property industry had quite a boom.
Getting a home loan is a whole different story though. It might be farely easy to GET a home loan. But how to know which one to pick? Which offers you the best? In the end it doesn’t really matter which one you pick. As long as you know what it entails. Read the fine print.
If you pay an amount extra every single month you could end up paying a LOT less.
For instance: If you were to buy a house of R750 000, an Read more: Sweet

South African Rooibos 2007-09-18 15:02:12 Like Green Tea is for the Chinese, so is Rooibos Tea for South
African
s.
For those of you who are not from South Africa, this might be very interesting for you too - and strange at the same time. Aparantly Rooibos Tea isn’t readily available abroad, but still is - so if you can afford to pay the price, you should give it a try
The taste might be a bit strange at first, but its quite nice, for me in any case (I grew up with it though)
Here are some Rooibos Tea facts which might fascinate you like it did me…
With its many positive attributes, Rooibos Tea is a great choice of drink for health conscious people.
Rooibos Tea contains no colours, additives or preservatives, making it a natural beverage. It contains no caffeine. According to studies conducted in South Africa and Japan Rooibos Tea has been shown to aid in health problems such as insomnia, irritability, headaches, nervous tension, and hypertension.
Studies also show that this tea contains anti - spasmodic age
Dishonest Friends 2007-09-18 10:08:45 I have recently found that a friend I thought to be a good friend lies to me. On a regular basis. The thing is, we share a lot of common friends, and strangely enough I have found that she always has a different story when its just me and her, but as soon as there are other people around she starts telling a different story. When not doing that, I have found that she has said something to me accident, something she didn’t plan to admit.
The mature thing to do would be to confront her, right? So I tried that, but it didn’t work. I asked her why she said something, and then she just denied it.
Its as if she enjoys keeping things from me, or as if she likes to tell me things that are not true. She’s also forgotten to invite us to certain socials that all our other friends were invited to… Its just so weird.
I could’ve understood if she was maybe a bit sour, then I might have assumed that she didn’t want to be friends anymore. But the thing Read more: Friends
Smoke Break 2007-09-16 13:26:42 Often I have felt that it is extremely unfair for people who smoke. They get to have smoke breaks all the time, while non-smokers have to work. It might seem a bit strange for a non-smoker to stand on the balcony just for the fun of it, but if its a smoker, its OK.
I suppose its better that way, and I really wouldn’t want them smoking inside, but it would be nice to be able to have a break every now and then, but then people can call you inside any time. However if they see that you’re smoking, they understand immediately that you NEED YOUR BREAK. Suddenly they find nothing wrong with it that you spend so much more time doing nothing that the rest of us.
To get a bit technical, suppose a smoker smokes 6 cigarettes a day (at work) - which I have found to be average for the people I know? Help me right if I’m wrong - they would typically spend 7 minutes outside for the whole little procedure (5minutes is just too short, and 10 too long). That would mean that smoke Read more: Smoke

Winds Of Change 2007-09-15 00:20:51 That is the title of a song by the Scorpions. Its such a beautiful song, and I’ve always sang along to it (when I’m ALONE) But I never realized how difficult those changes might be. Sometimes changes can be things that we have waited and prayed for for years, but other times it entails things that we never thought possible. And never think we will survive. Things which make us feel out of control, and a bit freaked out.
I’m again referring to the job changes that I’ve been through these last two months. It is scary. To start at a new place. Each time I am reminded of how vulnerable I can actually feel. Going through the heartbreak that relationships can sometimes cause I thought nothing could ever scare me more. But being unsure of where your next pay check is going to come from has to be right there at the top of the list too. It suddenly makes one realize that nothing is actually in your control. Things change so quickly without giving us enough Read more: Winds

Touch Down [And Here’s To Monday!!] 2007-09-10 12:50:14 I have realized how quickly people can forget to say “hi”. For those of you who have remembered to drop me a line, thank you so much. It doesn’t go unnoticed, and it is extremely appreciated!! Thank you for the “hello’s”, and “how are you’s” I know how quickly I forget to e-mail or just comment on blogs. Its asif we think the person doesn’t read comments when they don’t blog. That’s not true. I have read ALL your comments, and find them entertaining and enlightening to know that people do still read here!
I have also seen that when I stopped sending regular e-mails, I stopped getting regular e-mails. The odd few do still come in, but the traffic in my inbox has dropped drastically.
All these changes have started because of my recent job changes. I have yet another job (2nd one since August). The new job is kind of the same as I originally did, but different still. The people are kind - the atmosphere Read more: Monday
STICKY POST: Rooibos Tea GIVE AWAY 2007-10-02 01:30:58 After Beth mentioned that there was Rooibos tea for sale on e-bay, I had a I decided to send out some Rooibos tea to my international fans (just kidding). But really now, I will send three readers from abroad a packet Rooibos tea each. I won’t send to South Africa, or neighbouring countries, as this is senseless. The whole point is to give the international readers the opportunity to try Rooibos. I will pay for the shipping, but you will be responsible for import tax if applicable, as this is only charged when the parcel is picked up from your post office (works that way in South Africa in any case). The winners will be selected randomly by myself on the 31st of October @ 6pm GMT+2, and the winners will be announced shortly afterwards. The parcels will be sent out a.s.a.p. after that - depending on how quickly you provide me with your mailing address. Your real name, mailing address, and any other personal information will be kept confidential.

The 10 Weirdest Things Ever Sold On eBay 2007-10-02 01:29:01 by Rob Lee
Perhaps you’ve heard stories of people auctioning off strange items on eBay, like the homely kid who put his virginity up for bid or the bald guys who offer their own heads as advertising space. But those are nothing compared to some of the items that have made their way onto eBay’s digital auction block.
Here are ten of the weirdest things ever to appear on eBay. To qualify for this list, the item or items must have received at least one bid, proving the point that no matter what you have to sell, somewhere there is a buyer for it.
10. Item #191367029: The Internet
If people can sell plots of land on the moon, then why can’t someone sell the Internet? Someone did just that, for the bargain asking price of $1 million. Of course, it was all just a gag and it’s unlikely that this Pay Pal transaction ever went through. But still, it would have been the deal of the century-the buyer was even throwing in free Internet access.
9. Item #277481422: UFO De
Motorbike To Morgue 2007-10-02 00:54:21 And NO, he is still alive. Zunaid Hoosen Mia was caught speeding his bike at a mere 276km/h (that is 171.5 mph) because he was late for his breakfast run. His punishment? 150 hours community service in the morgue!! I think that should be disturbing experience, but hopefully a wake up call for this maniac! He claims that he didn’t know at what speed he was travelling, because it was too dangerous to look down at such a speed.
The judge wanted to suspend Mia’s driver’s license, but took into account that he is the sole breadwinner for his wife, and three small children. If you ask me, its more of a risk to have him on his bike, than without a license, but who am I to judge. I’m just still wondering why the judge didn’t think of public transport?
He was also given a fine of R60 000 or three years in prison. Two-thirds of his sentence was suspended for five years. Read more: Motorbike
Trusted Brands 2007-09-28 02:27:53 What are the brands that work for you? I’m stuck on certain brands, but there are some things which I still haven’t found my favourite brand of. For cosmetics, I love Annique. Their products are made from Rooibos, and some are not scented, which makes it ideal for sensitive skin.
For coffee I love Nescafé, and of course Cremora, since I don’t use milk. Strangely enough (very annoying) most coffee shops don’t have coffee creamer! How ridiculous? There are alot of people who are lactose intolerant, which would be a good reason to offer an alternative, specially at coffee shops, but seems like no one has thought about this.
As you already know, I’m totally in love with Revlon nail polish and lipstick. My mascara and foundation are however Maybelline, and NO, I was not born with it. The Intense XXL™ Volume & Length Washable Microfiber Mascara really does make my lashes a few milimeters longer and adds volume. The Dream Matte™ Mousse Makeup Read more: Brands

Let The Good Times Roll… 2007-10-17 23:19:14 I was having dinner with my family last night. Its so nice to have them around - my sister and her family lives in the US, and they have come to visit, and I really love having them around.
My nephews are almost done with school, and I can’t believe how big they have gotten. I miss having them around so much. Its amazing to see how much they change in one year. Makes me wonder about myself
Whilst still sitting chatting about the table with my sister, my two nephews and my parents, we started with really weird conversations. One was about silicon implants and how they must look when you’ve aged.
Now this isn’t something that we would normally discuss. We have our limits, but last night, we just couldn’t stop laughing at the thought of perky breasts in an old saggy body. Maybe even perky breasts hanging somewhere between an old ladies chest and stomach. ROFL. Maybe they adjust everything again, after some sagging took place - who knows.

The Rude Awakening…And Whackhead In Paris! 2007-10-15 07:46:10
I’ve recently subscribed to the Whackhead podcasts, because I start work earlier than usual, which means that I miss Whackhead’s Window on the World at 07:h10. Which is why I subscribed to his podcasts… Now you might ask what this is all about, and who the heck is Whackhead? Well, in South Africa, by now, Whackhead is a household name.
Something sad, was that I heard one of the podcasts where Whackhead interviewed some French people during the RAW visit to Paris
recently, asking them if they have ever heard of the Rude Awakening (aka RAW), and NONE of them had heard about it!
For those of you who don’t know who Darren “Whackhead” Simpson is, and have never heard of the Rude Awakening, please try to stream to this station one morning, they’re on 06:h00 - 09:h00 (GMT +2) each weekday & Saturday morning, and I really love their show. Whackhead is possibly the best prankster I have ever heard. He pranks someone everyday, and most of t
No More Sticky Posts!!! 2007-10-22 14:02:41 Sticky posts are boring and irritate the living daylights out of me. I have tried it now, and I can tell you that it seriously sucks. If you were considering it, its dumb. It looks as if you don’t update your blog, and it doesn’t help much. I have made a link for the top of my widget instead which now links to the competition for the Rooibos tea. The only purpose I see for it, is if you move your blog. But then again, you wouldn’t need a sticky post, cause you wouldn’t post anymore…
Hope you all have a fabulous week!
South Africa Takes The World Cup… Go Bokke!!! 2007-10-22 01:50:18 I don’t like sport really. Not to watch, and not to participate. But on Saturday it was the rugby world cup final, and South
Africa
was playing against England. People started getting ready for the game early on Saturday already — some people painted their faces, and cars with the SA flag, and some slogans like “Go Bokke”…
In the afternoon they started driving up and down the streets, hooting (honking?), and screaming, singing and dancing, and of course - buying loads of booze. The truth is, South Africa
ns started partying long before the game started, cause we all knew that we were going to win. Or if we didn’t know, maybe we hoped so much that it just had to come true…
Though it was not the best rugby game ever, (there wasn’t even ONE tri!), South Africa still won, which was the whole point!
So this post is entirely dedicated to the South African Springboks, champions of the world cup 2007
We are proud of you!! Read more: World

Naked Old Ladies 2007-10-20 05:44:18 I joined the gym this week! Since I work practically next door to it, I decided that now is a good time to join. That, and the fact that I hear horror music in my imagination when I picture myself in a bikini - seasons are changing to summer in SA.
I went yesterday for the first time, very conveniently in my lunch, and felt sooo good afterwards. Though I am unfit, I completed ten minutes on cardio - that’s A LOT for me I did a bit of muscle exercises, and then had a lovely shower.
The bathrooms are really clean, and that is a strange thing in SA. These ones were particularly nice. I was however shocked when I was joined by an oldish lady starting to undress right there in front of me. I realize that I was after all in the change rooms, but still - it was a shocker. She walked around there in her knickers!! Weighing herself, going to the steam room, and eventually to take a shower - the whole time parading like she was a show horse or something. I was there long eno
Mountains Are Always Bigger Than They Look 2007-10-29 02:01:27 Somehow we always misjudge a mountain. Why is that? When I look at it, I think “that’s not such a big mountain - in fact, I’d be able to climb it, no sweat”… Hahahaha. Till I’m about half way, I don’t have any air left in my lungs, and I need the water which I forgot to bring, or was too brave to think about.
We went to climb a ‘koppie’ (South African word for a small mountain, kinda like a hill I guess) anyway, so we went to the Wonderboom Nature Reserve (me and my family). Which was really cool!! The reason for wanting to climb to the top is that we wanted to see the fort which is up on the koppie.
I was gonna write you some interesting facts on the fort, but found a good summary on the net (its quite long, but a good read all the same). Please let me know if this post takes too long to load - I have added three photo’s, but they might take a while to load…

Helping The Children Of South Africa 2007-11-01 08:45:27 We all know how much sadness there is in the world, and one of the areas that touch my heart especially, is children.
I have recently become involved in an organization that arranges a camp for children who are abused and neglected. They’re called Royal Family Kids’ Camps, and come originally from the US.
The camp is only a week long, and in that week, the goal is to let these children feel loved and respected. To give them good memories.
Most of these kids have never celebrated Christmas, and some don’t even know when their birthday is.
During the camp there are a lot of activities, all of these aiming to treat the children like royalty, to teach them basic social skills, and also to make them feel part of a family.
They get served food which normal kids like, and can eat as much as they like, as most of these kids are underfed.
My involvement in this is hard to explain. But lets just say that I will be attending the camp with the kids, for the whole week. It Read more: Helping
