Something To Make You Go “Awe!” 2007-07-10 08:50:06 James Blunt sold his sister on eBay.
The “You’re Beautiful” singer was so addicted to the Internet auction site he sold his sibling - and she is now engaged to the winning bidder.
James said in an interview with GQ magazine: “The stupidest thing I’ve ever sold is my sister, on eBay.
“I was waiting for my first album to come out and ended up selling pretty much everything I owned on eBay. I had a mild addiction.
“Anyway, I came back to the flat where my sister was staying and she was crying because she couldn’t get to a funeral in Ireland.

“The planes were on strike, the ferry was out of season and there were no trains. I ended up whacking it on eBay, ‘Damsel in distress seeks knight in shining armour!
Desperate to get to a funeral in Southern Ireland, please help!’
“The bids flooded in and the guy who won had a helicopter. He flew her to the funeral.

What Happens When A Blogger Dies? 2007-07-09 08:54:13 Its something that I’ve been wondering about for a long time. What happens to my blog if I’m gone? There must be blogs that have been abandoned due to their owner passing away. Where are those blogs? Would anyone ever know? Unless we had immediate family who has access to our blogs or very close friends, our readers might never know where we went. Maybe even thinking that we merely lost interest in blogging.
Its a strange and eerie thought, but still a reality. The ideal would be for a fellow blogger to be in touch with your family - right? And that fellow blogger will have access to your blog’s username / password just to let the readers know what has happened. I don’t have someone like that unfortunately. Maybe I should try to find one?
The same counts for all my e-mail addresses. I have quite a few of those, and though my work e-mail addy would be sorted, I doubt if anyone would figure out the security questions / passwords for my other e-mail addy& Read more:Blogger

How Addicted to Blogging Are You?
I’ve known for a long time that I’m hooked on blogging, but never knew it was this bad… Anyone willing to sponsor me for therapy
New Additions To My Google Reader 2007-07-13 05:50:20 I have been reading so many new blogs lately. I found a couple which I have already added to my feeds. I’m always surprised by the diversity of blogs. Its incredible that there are people in every industry and walk of life who blog.
Its amazing to read everyone’s stories. I really find it quite cool. For now I have to finish up work (my usual excuse).
So if you’re looking for something to read, make sure to visit Bongi’s blog. He’s a South African “general surgeon working in the notorious South African province of Mpumalanga.” I find his bizarre stories interesting, and I’m sure you will too - especially if you’re from abroad, and you’re normal to a hospital running similar to what is portrayed in ER.
The other blog that has caught my attention is Diary of a Killer. You can read random posts, but its best to start at the beginning - its a fictional blog about a woman wanting revenge.
Hope you all have a good weekend! Read more:Google

Losing Winter Weight 2007-07-17 06:44:21 Almost everyone I know has been, or are, at that place in their lives where they try to lose weight. Its winter, and we all know how easily the extra kilo’s gather with all the cozy snacks.
Its so much nicer to cuddle under the duvet, watching a DVD, with a cup of hot chocolate and some popcorn, instead or having a glass of water and celery sticks. Most people use the excuse that they use more energy to warm their bodies during winter.
This is a very convenient argument, and we’ve probably all said it to ourselves when we wanted to buy our favorite chocolate bar, or potato crisps, or pizza… and the list goes on. The problem is this: if your input is more than your output you will gain weight.
If you don’t exercise at all you’re burning very little calories. In turn you’re probably eating more than you’re burning.
A friend of mine recently told me that she started a new diet, and after three days she hadn’t lost any weight, so she qu Read more:Weight
Here I Am!! 2007-07-17 03:43:11 I spent part of the weekend @ the hospital again. Nothing too serious, and I wasn’t the patient either, but still not nice.
At least I had breakfast with a good friend on Saturday before going to the hospital. The breakfast was great. Except for the chats, the food was also great. I had a BBQ Bacon & Mushroom omelet at Maxi’s - you should really try it. It was YUM.
Other than that I’ve developed a sore throat / cold / flu. Don’t know where that came from since I’ve been taking my vitamins.
Yesterday I went home early because I felt awful. I slept the whole afternoon till 7pm, and went to bed again at 9pm. Which is why I didn’t write yesterday. Sorry.
I’ve also signed up with Pownce, so if you want an invite, just leave a comment. These invites are obviously not scarce, so I wouldn’t be surprised if no one wanted one. I’m indeed impressed with Pownce, and I have to agree with the general opinion, its a bit better than
Dessert Pizza? (GROSS!!) 2007-07-19 06:25:58 Dessert
pizza’s are gross. The thought of it is disgusting. But if you start to think about it, it shouldn’t be any different than sweet pastries? Still pizza’s are meant to be savoury in my opinion. Who thought of dessert pizza’s anyway? Its a real thing, I kid you not - its on the menu’s of normal pizza places.
I was going to expand on the topic, but since I’m sick at home today, I don’t have the energy. I’m going right back to bed, where I will sleep, and (unfortunately) work. I still have a horrible sore throat, and my body is sore. I do have meds, but they make me so drowsy that I try not to take them in the middle of the day when I have to work.
Hope to write again soon. By the way, my font is almost done - I just have to do the .readme file, and then you can have it if you’d like! Read more:Pizza
The Facebook Frenzy (Or Conspiracy?) 2007-07-24 13:16:08 Why is it that everyone is on Facebook
except me? Its apparently become the 6th most popular site on the net - but why? Why is everyone suddenly so keen to meet up with old friends? There have been other similar sites which were never so popular. Obviously they weren’t the same as Facebook, but still. I don’t get it.
I saw a video about Facebook, and the dangers thereof. I still can’t tell whether its relatively safe to sign up, or if its really as dangerous as its notorious reputation has claimed.
In the end, is it really worth risking having your whole life exposed to marketing companies and giving up your privacy to total strangers; maybe even stalkers, all in the hope of meeting up with old (or new) friends? Read more:Conspiracy
Pigeon Noises 2007-07-24 11:05:38
Why do pigeons make pigeon noises? I’m sure if you’re an orthinologist or you know how to google, you can figure that out.
An easy answer would be because they’re pigeons, and that’s what pigeons do.
I could google that now and give you the a clever answer too. However, I want to know why pigeons make those “koer” noises(
Afrikaans pigeon noise - btw do they make the same noise in the US? :P) at night. In the middle of the night - like last night 12:30??
Do they have a bad dream & talk in their sleep? It doesn’t sound as if they’re alarmed, so I doubt if it was to alarm fellow pigeons of a cat or something.
I’m really suspecting that pigeons, like humans, talk in their sleep.
Minds Behind Advertisements?? 2007-07-23 10:45:20 Who are the people who think up television commercials. Yeah I know they’re from advertising agencies. But what I’m wondering is who are they really. What type of people are they? Some adverts are really good. Personally I love the new MTN adverts - I know a lot of people despise them, because they don’t advertise the products or services offered, but I think they’re pretty creative.
There are a couple of ads which I can think of now which are pretty lame. They don’t hold any connection with the products or services, and neither are they creative. They just don’t make sense. Help me out if you know the meaning of the Peroni (beer) advertisement? It has a kinda catchy tune, but that’s all. It doesn’t make much sense to me.
I’m just wondering where these advertisers get their ideas from. I seriously think some of them smoke pot before starting to work on a new project. Others are just so bland that I doubt a professional Read more:Advertisements

Tell Me You Say Stupid Things Too… 2007-07-25 10:45:38 I had such an embarrassing experience yesterday at the bank. I was waiting to see a consultant, along with three other people. I don’t like talking to strangers like that. People usually make senseless small talk and I think its stupid. Anyway, to get back to my embarrassment. The girl next to me was probably in her late twenties, and seemed extremely impatient. After a while she asked me why one of the consultants didn’t see any clients. I answered her with a bit of a clueless expression on my face and a slight shrug, after which she told me that she had to get her cash passport sorted out, because she was going to visit her sister in South Korea in a few days’ time.
I asked a bit about her trip, and whether she was looking forward to it. Now since we were not waiting in a normal queue for the cashiers, but instead sitting, waiting for consultants (in the forex department), she probably thought I was traveling somewhere abroad as well. So she asked me &ldquo Read more:Stupid

Time Out 2007-07-27 10:53:11 Hi there guys and girls.
I’m a bit tied up at the moment, and might not post for a while. I have to spend my time on something a bit more important, but hope to be back really soon. Unfortunately I cannot tell you what is going on yet, but will do so when the time is right.
In the meantime please pop-in every now and again, I’m going to miss you!
Take care
Slightly Delusional 2007-08-03 14:23:26 Have you ever noticed how close to insanity the sane people are? I realized this when my Dad mentioned it to me, after I had two nightmares which seemed extremely real. Isn’t it strange how you whole body reacts to something your brain creates, and you believe.
We all know the type of dreams where you are falling, and then you suddenly jump in your bed. This was something like that, only so much more real. I heard someone outside making a noise, and then later on dreamt that my Dad phoned me, and whispered that I must get up cause he heard the noise again, and they’re close to my room. I was so panicky, that I got up out of bed immediately, and only realized it was a dream when I saw my phone lying on the bedside table, and then realized that my Dad hadn’t phoned me at all.
I suppose its quite normal, specially in the country that I live in, to have dreams like this, but its still awful. I’m just amazed at how real everything was. Maybe I AM a bit delusio

Explaining It All 2007-07-31 12:30:43 So I am finally able to tell you why things are going up and down. The company that I work(ed) for was liquidated today. Its all still a bit unreal, but yes, I’m without a job as I’m sitting here. I have already lined up some interviews with recruitment agents, and someone I know has also offered me a job.I never thought it would come to this. I thought that these were the type of things you could see far ahead, and then still have time to search for another job, and all. Aparantly not. It hits like a Tsunami; hard and unexpected.
I’m OK though. I believe that the right opportunity will come along, and that it will work out for me. If I’m a bit absent from here, you know that I’m either at an interview or submitting my CV.
Be Thankful 2007-07-30 15:32:32 We all know that life has got its little ups and downs, and I believe I’m finding myself in a bit of a down at the moment. I will hang around, and try to keep you entertained though
I have found that no matter how tough a situation is, it is still what you make of it. I’m reading such a good book at the moment (Tuesdays with Morrie - a true story), and quoting it roughly the one character says that one should allow oneself to go through an emotion. Whether it be fear, hurt, grief, whatever. Feel that emotion, sob until you cannot sob any more, experience that emotion, and then detach yourself from it. You should say, this is fear I’m feeling, I know what it feels like, I have experienced it, but I’m not going to let it control me. Same with all the other negative emotions. There is no shame in being emotional, in fact it shows that you’re not merely breathing, but you’re alive.
I’ve also got such an amazing group of people in my life. Read more:Thankful
Looking At The Brightside Is Not Enough 2007-08-06 13:32:51 People say we should focus on the good things in life. And to a certain extent I agree with them. We SHOULD be thankful for all we have. There are so many people who have nothing. Literally nothing. People die of hunger each day and disease each day. People lose their families due to war, and accidents.
I just wonder how can I focus on the positive so easily then. Unashamedly oblivious of the pain and agony of the world. Quietly ignoring their cries for help? Its so easy to focus and be thankful for the good things in our lives, but when do we start doing something for those who do not have something - not even one single thing - in their lives to make them happy.
I was walking in a parking lot during lunch, and car guard was so friendly. He seemed incredibly happy to be doing his job. He welcomed me, and told me to enjoy my shopping, even gave me a cheerful smile. But when he goes home he might have to eat by candle light in the freezing cold because he cannot afford elect Read more:Enough
Okay Okay, I’ll Stop Complaining 2007-08-06 11:27:26 I just read that previous post and realized how much I moan. Sorry. I honestly moan more than that IRL So I’m still sparing you
I’m actually very lucky in terms of finding a job so quickly! I’m quite happy about it now. Even though I have to pretend that I like answering phones and all that.
I ended up postponing my appointment of tonight, so I’m going to start getting ready for bed!! /font>/font>
Day #1 @ The New Place 2007-08-06 09:40:24 I’ve started with the new job - its not too bad. They have everything organized - which I really like. I’m suppose to know exactly what do to, and when, still I feel a bit awkward. Like I’m slightly out of place? It’ll probably get better very soon, but now I’m still feeling ‘icky’. Each of us has a comfort zone, and I’m currently not even close to mine.
The job itself seems OK - the tasks and all that, but I think it might get boring after some time. The people seem very kind, they’ve all come to say hello and introduce themselves, but I know I shouldn’t take that as too much of a sign. People are hardly ever nasty to others on their first day!! I wonder what their impression of me is. I’m really curious to find out how they perceive me, and how I come accross. Maybe they think I’m totally different from what I actually am - who knows? I just can’t seem to get over this strangeness - the feeling of not bel Read more:Place

Behind Schedule… 2007-08-14 00:15:10 Hey!!! I missed women’s day - so sorry!!! To all the women reading here, happy belated women’s day. LOL. I had the public holiday and all, but never realized that it was actually WOMEN’S DAY. Was that only in South Africa though? I think so? I’m a bit out of sync with the dates and all - I even missed a friend’s birthday!!! Work is going well. Different, but I’m kind of adjusting. Or it feels that way in anycase.
I really feel like going away for a weekend though. It would be so nice to just relax… *sigh*
On a different note, I found that e-bay sellers are totally oblivious to the fact that postal fees are VERY expensive when shipping to South Africa. With that I mean close to $60… Depending on the size & weight of the parcel of course.
If you’re an e-bay seller, make VERY sure that you know what the shipping is going to cost before you agree to ship to South Africa. I had someone agree, only to find out that she had to pay m Read more:Schedule
Cosmetic Chats 2007-08-16 13:20:05 I usually hate cosmetic adverts… They always try to convince people that their specific product will instantly increase beauty, personality, and popularity. Why can’t they just tell you the truth about their products, and let THAT be good enough to sell it?
I hate hearing the sentence “because you’re worth it”. Its stupid. I’m worth much more than a box of hair dye or luscious lipstick?
What I have found though, is that Revlon’s cosmetics are really good. I’m not a Revlon evangelist or anything, but I like to buy things that work. If it says its quick dry nail polish, I don’t want to wait 5 minutes?
I bought their nail polish before, but again on Tuesday, and found again how effective it is. It applies perfectly, with no uneven tones, no bubbles, and it dries QUICK. I started with my right hand’s thumb, and when I reached my left hand’s pinky the right thumb was dry already!!! Now THAT’s quick dry!

Decisions Decisions… 2007-08-22 10:45:05 You know, being grown up is kinda tough. At times I really wish that I could go back to playing with barbies and stuff. That was just so much less complicated, and things seemed so much simpler. I was sure of what was right and wrong. What I should do. What was expected of me.
But these days things are just a bit cloudy. I’m OK with the new job. Its a very different environment from what I’m used to, but the people are kind. The work self is not ideal.
I realized that I’m just not someone who enjoys working with clients all day. I have dealt with clients before, but mostly on e-mail. Conversing with clients over the phone though, is a whole different story. Explaining to them why certain rules are there, and how I cannot bend the rules for them. Apologizing for other people’s mistakes, and cleaning up the mess.
I do have another opportunity which I’m thinking about. Its the same as I’ve done previously, and I know some of the people who Read more:Decisions
Relaxation Is Important 2007-08-24 10:24:05 So finally I have an evening to myself. Kind of. Tonight I’m going to spend time pampering myself with a facial and an hour in the bath with a good book.
We all need time out just for ourselves sometimes. I realize that that sounds selfish, but I reckon that people need to spend time on themselves every now and then, else they’ll be exhausted, and possibly miserable.
If you feel like a bus hit you, maybe you should consider spending some time just with yourself, doing what you love.
Here’s an interesting article from Health24 which inspired me to relax…
You have to take time out every single day to sit back, breathe deeply, relax and enjoy life in the present moment. It is important to create a gap between work and home environment. Always have mental and physical activities in your life that you enjoy. Make these pastimes separate from your work life. It reminds us to keep work in an important but appropriate place.

Driveway.com 2007-08-24 09:45:12 A wonderful new way of online file sharing!!! Its so straight forward! You select the file to be uploaded - I found that it can be pretty much any format? Correct me if I’m wrong.
You then just type in your own e-mail address, and the address to which you want to send the link, and voila.
You also get to choose whether to send the file link for read (read only), or for editing. Editing can only be done on .doc and .ppt files though, but still multiple users can edit the document, and it doesn’t have to be uploaded again!?
Yes yes,… Oh Yay! 2007-08-29 15:30:05 Its finally starting to warm up in South Africa, and though I know that the cold weather isn’t close to over yet, its at least a sign that spring DOES still exist, and is slowly making its way to us!!!
I’m so exited about wearing summer clothes again!! I hate layering like I do in winter. For those who live abroad, you might think that it shouldn’t be so cold in South Africa as in Europe or North America, but at times our winters can get a bit worse. Not that the temperatures outside are lower, but remember, our houses aren’t half as well insulated. I don’t think that our houses are insulated at all - except maybe for those of us who have ‘think pink’ in our ceilings?
My experience in England was that as soon as I was inside I could almost wear summer clothes because the central heating was just so warm. In South Africa, even if we have heaters on (cause we don’t have central heating), we can’t walk around with summer clothes.
Oh Snap! 2007-08-28 23:44:06 So I’m hooked on facebook too… Hahaha. Just to let you all know that I decided to try it out a while back, and that I’m now totally addicted to it
I found so many school friends and people who I’ve met randomly, but lost contact with. Its really really cool
