Strange people 2006-10-19 13:50:00 I recently went to a conference where I sat at a table with someone who essentially told everyone at the table how she has stolen images for her paintshop pro work. She suggested that she might have stolen my artwork for such purposes. To be honest, she was such an odd person, that I didn't feel comfortable taking her own. I don't know why. She made these broad sweeping statements that really weren't rooted in reality. For example, my website. Now I really doubt the psp community is hanging out here. I don't make cutesy things and my artwork would not be easy for the kind of work that most of them do. Sure it could probably be done, but for the amount work put into it, the return would be loooow.
I've used paintshop pro in the past, and the product itself is fine. It's kind of a low end photoshop and it does have some neat features, primarily the ability to create "tubes' which are like brushes or rubber stamps actually using images. While that is kind of cool, I've Read more:people

Robin reads: Everyone worth knowing, Iron orchid, and Dixie Riggs 2006-10-18 14:23:00 Dixie Riggs by Sarah Gilbert : I picked this one up at book sale for 50 cents. Now I know why. According to Amazon it's YA (Young Adult). Knowing that it is meant to be a Young Adult book also might explain why I didn't think it was very good, but honestly, I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone. The story is that Dixie Riggs wants to get married to Buck Speed, who is a body builder/auto repair/evangelist wannabe. In order to try to advance her career, she enters modeling school along with her friend Sparkle. She and Sparkle get into all sorts of situations including creating some nude "modeling" photos. Along the way Dixie gets pregnant but is uncertain as to the father. Various confrontations and situations occur and the story is mostly resolved. There are no truly positive characters in this book. No one has any sort of accountability or even real concern for the various characters involved. As this is written about the south (South Carolina) it seems to wallow in makin Read more:Robin

Reception 2006-10-12 17:15:00 Well, the reception was fun. Winners of the contest were exactly as I suspected—the artists featured on the promotional lit.
Good food, sushi, a dessert bar, but not as much food as there probably should have been. Lots of red bull and various beverages (red bull and champagne is not very good....) Several very drunk girls in the bathroom. I imagine they were some of the SCAD students as the were wearing sort of "prom' dresses and looked very underage. Entertainment was a hiphop/breakdance team. Although the reception was fun, it seemed to last just a little bit too long… maybe a variety of entertainment would have helped? Also, the audio was terrible during the announcements.. Very nice exhibit catalogues. All in all, a nice professional reception. Oh, and the big banners in the photos listed all of the artists. Lots o' beautiful beautiful, hipsters, some folks trying their hardest to look remotely cool, a guy in black and gold rosette print skinny pants and another channe Read more:Reception
Art for Christmas 2006-10-09 16:40:00 From the wet let the dawgs out public art exhibit (a cow parade product)
Okay, let's see if I can condense this down into a short blurb:
"The must have keepsake book about the project is being published.." and there will be book signings with the artists. In addition to the tshirts and mugs, there are now 4 inch replicas. The first four are Sky Dawg, Flower Power(mine), Thurston LaDonnahue II and Caesar Dawgustus.
You can purchase any of this merchandise at the website, http://www.weletthedawgsout.org Read more:Christmas
I have the dress! 2006-10-07 14:58:01 okay, this is so shallow.... but I can't help it....
in a moment of panic yesterday, I realized that I have nothing to wear to the reception/private party on Thursday. OKAY, that's not quite true. I own several formal gowns for more formal art & theatre events, and then a pair of long black chiffon split skirt/wide palazzo pants which I wear to just about every other art event. Those are great… I can wear them with embellished flat sandals and a cool shirt for a more casual look OR dress
them up… but still. none of that seems appropriate to this kind of event. I want something simple and kind of low key, something that is chic (which I've probably never looked in my whole life), that fits me.
I think I've been watching project runway too much. I really like Laura's personal style. I guess I had forgetten how well primarily black clothes and red lipstick work on pale redhead girls. In a way, it seems very conservative and sort of classic "arty' wear. However, she

migating soon. 2008-01-02 23:04:01 Just a heads up that I’m testing new blog & cms both, textpattern and also wordpress. Although I have enjoyed using ee and I kind of hate to leave it, I think it’s probably time for me to finally part ways with the ee community. I need something which is more supportive of the life of an artist, because you know what, I hope that one day I’m rich and famous, but I’m not counting on it.... which means that I don’t have extra $ for upgrades or to buy the commercial version. Honestly, it’s silly that big & little companies pay the same price.
Anyhow. stay tuned. I will post the new url, when I’ve moved everything.
seeking new video editor 2007-12-29 12:00:01 I am looking for a new video
editing software and I’m wondering if anyone has tried the latest version of jahshaka (v2 rc3) and if so, how does it compare to ulead videostudio 11? Any other suggestions?
I have cable modem (100M transfer, which is the highest offered in my hood), 2G processor and 233G external harddrive (which is where all of my images/video stuff goes); only 64G harddrive (I know… but I’m trying to make do until I can buy a new desktop). I also don’t want to spend a ton of money on software, either.
I’m primarily working with mov, avi, mpg video files; jpg or png image files; mp3 audio files; occasionally dvd files (willing to go look for a converter for those, if needed).
I’m looking for:
*something that will run well on my computer
*relatively low lea

Lessons learned about blogging daily 2007-11-28 23:46:00 SO, this whole blogging daily thing has been a big experiment for me. I find that my blogging waxes and wanes, depending on lots of things.
Positive impacts: time, creativity, making art, comments
negative impacts: no time/overworked, lack of creativity, not making art, feeling like no one reads this
As for the creativity aspect, that’s something I just can’t force. I know some writers/artists who will just write/create anything as a means to break the block. Not me—when I’m having a creative block, it means 1)I’m stuck in a rut with the medium of my choosing and I need to make some sort of change 2)more interested in something which doesn’t fall into traditional art or 3)just tired and burned out (resolution: rest and no art).
I’m not sure where I am at the moment. The Read more:Lessons

tired, cold, and the wolves are after me 2007-11-27 17:32:00 Okay, maybe not ALL of that, but I think I’m too tired
to do much of anything today. Jeepers, how do people post everyday?
..and some people like this guy post an image of themselves everyday for 6 years? Really amazing.
Anyhow, I promise something more interesting tomorrow. Perhaps, some artwork I haven’t posted yet...and I think my archives are f%$#ed.

hello there…. 2005-09-08 10:51:00 Like every journal/blog on the ‘net, some days, this one is about not much of anything. Other days, I post new artwork, various inspirations, exhibit invites, photos, web clippings, links and even VIDEO! My artwork currently relies heavily on handmade paper, oil stick, etc. Photos are not retouched, unless noted.
Photos and artwork are available for viewing @ galleries or you can check out my work at flickr or even more work (either art videos or really really silly video at my youtube site. ) I’m always up to something new it seems, and I keep a list of art related websites here. If you’re looking for my writings on web2.0 stuff, drop me a line. Please pardon the dust. I’m in between designs. I’m not sure when I’ll get updated.
