Hey everyone: Couple of big Zumba events coming up:If you don't know what Zumba is (you poor, deprived soul), get yourself to the Natick Mall this Friday from 7 to 10 pm, where Ann Saldi, regional Zumba Education Specialst, is throwing a huge Zumba demonstration.Betcha didn't think I could use the word Zumba so many times in one sentence! So yeah, get yourself there. I'll be there...if I can get so
So I'm still finding it wicked hard to write lately. It's not that I don't have anything to say--I do! I do! But blogging has been kind of a chore lately, rather than a fun little hobby.I love to write--and I'll admit, I love to hear myself talk. What blogger doesn't? That's why we do it, we just pretend it's about you. ;) But now that it's summer, and freaking gorgeous outside, I just don't have

But I had to share anyway:My girls are Jo, leaning on her elbow, Devy, sitting with her hands in her lap next to Jo, and Bek, way over there in the stroller. The kids are just some random cuties we found at the park. Kidding! They belong to two of my friends. I know, I know, you thought I started a daycare. We had a playdate at the park today to take advantage of the gorgeous, most un-New England-

We had a playdate at the park today to take advantage of the gorgeous, most un-New England-like weather. We even dipped in the pond. Bek completely submerged in the pond... And we got to pet a ferret! Bonus! :)I have lots to tell you. Adding classes, losing inches, and oh yeah: Zumba conference which I just registered for the other day including sharing a room with Lee and Halloween Zumba with BETO!I have to lay off the B-word (Beto!) for a little while--hubby might start thinking thing
I've posted about this before but one of my bosses just asked for a rundown of the topic, so here ya go:Zumba shoes. If you want to Zumba, you need to pay attention to what you have on your feet. Wear a running shoe, something that has too much tread, and you'll risk torquing your knee on some of the twisting, hip-shaking stuff. Wear something with little support or cushion and you risk all kinds of injury like stress fracture, twisted ankles, and lots of other fun things. Finding a shoe that is right for you can be hard--how do you know a shoe will work for you until you use it? The trial and error involved in finding the right shoe can be trying (and expensive!) but it's a lot better than winding up injured. Here's some suggestions to get you started:Nike has great dance sneakers on their
So it's official--we got the Save the Date email today. Zumba Instructor Conference is coming!!! I can't wait I can't wait I can't wait.I looked at travelocity today to check airfares, hotel, that kind of thing.I'm a little overwhelmed. I've never planned a trip before!Luckily, hubby has, and he can help me out. I just hope he's not too bitter to help, once I've told him he's NOT COMING!(I'm sorry honey. I love you more than the moon, but...it's GIRL TIME! WOOO HOOOOO! Ahem.)But OMG I'm so excited. I hope Orlando can contain us--have you ever seen a big group of Zumba instructors? We're nuts! And this is sure to be the biggest gathering of Zumba fanatics in one space that the world has seen thus far.*doin the happy dance*
Zits has always been one of my favorite comic strips, mostly because the character reminds me so strongly of my little brother when he was growing up. Hehe. Anyway, you have to check out today's strip! Click here.
So...has anyone seen the new infomercial? I keep missing it! The next Guthy Renker listing is for 6:30 tomorrow morning, so I'll be up with the birds. Someone get me a soy latte, pronto! What? Starbucks doesn't deliver? The heck, man! That's not what I came here to write about. I wanted to talk about chocolate!!! So, I gave up everything animal-derived, right? And at first I was all scared, like Oh NOES, that means I can't eat chocolate cuz chocolate has cocoa butter and butter comes from milk and milk comes from cows!Yeah, I know. I'm a dork.BUT! The good news is that cocoa butter does NOT come from cows, and while milk chocolate has, as the name would suggest, milk in it, dark chocolate--which I love and which is so yummy and good for you and antioxidizing--does not. At least I'm pretty s
OK people, listen up! This weekend is the debut of the new Zumba infomercial with the brand new, totally rockin DVDs. You've got to tune in! Go to your cable box and search for "Zumba" or "Guthy Renker" (which is the production company who did the infomercials; they're big in the infomercial world, I guess. They did ProActiv.) and TiVo! and watch it! and buy it!Here's some preview videos; you're gonna love it:(and Zumbadoras, see how many big names you can spot! Beto, Tanya, Gina, Asuka, Koh...)(mmmm, Beto fix...)You can buy the new DVDs from zumbafitness.com if you miss the infomercial. Also, check out SpiceUpYourBody.com. This is huge! I can't wait!
I got the clip of Beto, Tanya, and Gina on the Today show for you. Thanks to the person who posted this!I'm telling you, people: Zumba is exploding. Get on it! ;)
Just a quick little post--I taught one class and went to another today and I'm a little sore and in desperate need of another shower. :)The other day I passed a brand-new dance studio on the main street near my house. I thought, "Hm, wonder if they'd want to add a Zumba class?" So today after Tina's class I stopped in. The woman seemed really receptive; said there were a lot of people asking about the availability of Zumba classes, asked about rates, how many people, stuff like that, and said she'd call me after the holiday weekend. EEe! She asked how often I'd want to hold a class: once a week, twice, as much as I could. I said I'd love to do as many as I could get! :)Tina and I talked for a long time after class. She wanted to hear about Tanya's workshop, and we talked about developments in Zumba, the upcoming stuff I told you about last post. We mentioned how if we could open a StudioZumba, that would be a dream come true. We both know we've been called to do this, so that w
So my first class of my very own was last night.It. Was. Awesome!!Everyone seemed to have a great time, there were a lot of familiar faces from other classes, and therre was a lot of energy going on.There was a really great song that I'd been practicing nonstop for three days in an effort to bring something special to my class and I totally rocked it! That made my night; after that there was no stopping me. :) And my instructor friend Tina stayed even after having just taught cycling for an hour. Girl's gonna waste away to nothing one day, I tell ya. :)People kept stopping by the class to peek in on their way to the Nautilus room, and one woman came in after stopping to peek. Zumba, man, I tell ya. It sells itself!I felt really good; I bought an outfit I looked good in, the lighting in the room and the sound system in the room I'm in now are superior to the other (bigger, darn) room, and there were like 10 or 15 people there.SO much fun.I really need to gett insurance though. So I c
So...I just checked out my tracking for the site and I noticed that a lot of you are here looking for Zumba shoes. You came to the right place! I love shoes!! :)Let me show you what I wear and what other shoes are really good. These are from Target. I don't know if they still have them but they'll have something similar for dirt cheap. Payless ShoeSource will too. I've been beating these things up four times a week since October and they're still in good shape. Not bad for seven bucks! They have fabric-y, felt-y stuff on the bottom for easy swivelling.I just ordered these from ebay, but if I hadn't found them there I would have got them from zappos.com. They just look fun. I'm a little nervous they won't hold up. They're from Rocket Dog. Rocket Dog shoes make me drool a little, but for the money they start to look shabby pretty quick. These are PUMA Lena Wn's, and Rocket Dog Juliet that I found on zappos. And leave it to VictoriasSecret.com to have more shoes I must have. And whil
The eating. It has to stop.My Zumba certification class is Saturday (Saturday!!!) and in some seemingly backwards anticipation of it all, I've been eating nonstop for two or three days. The other day? I had FOUR ice cream cones. Seriously. I had one before work, one at break, and TWO on the way home.I don't know what the hell is wrong with me but it is stopping NOW.NOWWWWW.So help me, if I have to start wearing my old fat clothes. I'm kicking my own butt.
My Zumba certification class is in 10 days, and I still haven't registered. So for the love of all things Zumba and for the reduction of my rear end, go to ebay and bid on all my stuff. You want my stuff, don't you?!! You give me money, I give you my stuff, and I get to register for the certification class I've told everyone I'm taking!! before it sells out.Last night it was hot as hell out and the studio at the Y has been mad hot so I wore some shorty mcshort shorts to Zumba. Boy was that fun! I was in the front of the class and staring at my pasty thighs the whole time, plus I got to try picking the shorts out of my behind without anyone noticing! Fun!! :)(Oh, you're sorry you started reading this, aren't you. Sorry. Anything I write after 1am needs to be approached with caution.)Apparently all my hard work is paying off because an old high school classmate came into the store I work at today and told me he liked my booty. He was quick to assure me he didn't mean anything, me b
Hey guess what!* There's a Zumba certification workshop near me in July!! And I'm going to be there!Well, I haven't actually registered yet. I have to save up some money, sell some stuff on ebay, including my Zumba dvds, since I'll get those at the workshop anyway. And hopefully they won't be sold out by that time. But I fully intend to register. And when I do I'll be so stinkin excited I'll just scream!! :) Such a dork, I know.So um...I'm not too thrilled about being the fattest girl going though. Gotta do something about that. And I need to practice. Everyday!! And quit buying junk food. Because I don't think the two pints of Ben & Jerry's, the package of Chips Ahoy, and the bag of peanut butter Hershey's Kisses are really helping the cause, y'know? So anyway...I'm stuck at 170. (Speaking of junk food...) Every time I get to this point--and I've been here several times, approximately once after each kid--I have a hard time getting over the 170 bump and into the 160s. I kn
These are my Zumba shoes:Cute, right? They're black and white and purple, which is just about my favorite color combo evah. Anyway. You might be wondering, "Well, what makes them Zumba shoes?! Shoes are shoes!"Well, you'd be wrong!Zumba has lots of hip-swivelling moves that could totally take out your knees if you make the mistake of wearing tread-y sneakers that stick to the floor. Sneakers like mine have kinda-fabric-stuff on the bottoms so you can swivel and shake to your hearts content without dislocating any major body parts.I was trying to keep this all in mind tonight at Zumba class while trying to restore my dignity. See, I took a big step, trying to be all cool and killa-moves. My lunge didn't hold though, thanks to my fancy schmancy 7-dollar Target Zumba shoes, and I totally fell on my ass.But because I'm all cool like that, I just got up and wiped my butt off while laughing at myself. Because everyone knows that people can't laugh at you if you're already laughing yours
Hey today was Zumba and I was all upset because I haven't been there in like a month and even though I had a ton of energy and was totally raring to go they must've learned all new songs because I didn't know, like, anything, and I was all bummed out until after class I checked out the comment board and OMG they're adding four more classes to the schedule so now I can Zumba four days a week !Eeee! So, yeah. I'm a little excited.
So I was all excited about the new Zumba class that started at the Y a few towns over."Yay!" said I. "Now I can zumba my butt off twice a week!"So I went. I got there super late because the class was at 9, Jo gets on the bus at 8:40, and I woke up at 8:20. Not good math.So I got there at 9:25 (shh, at least I was there) and went to the back of the class. No! I was not shamed for being late (because I pretended I'd just came back from the water bubbler)! I just figured, you know, I've been doing this for a while and these people haven't so I'll let them get a good view. Plus I didn't want anyone fitter and musclier than me to fight me for a spot. :)So I got there and one of my favorite songs comes on and I start to jam to the beat thinking I know what moves are coming and?! Nothing! I mean, we did do something but it was really...lame!The whole class (you know, the part I was there for anyway) ended up being like, Zumba for Old People. It was awful! It wasn't even a workout! So I'
I was all excited to get to Zumba class today, and I wanted to make sure my car would make it out of the driveway (thanks to all the ice from this week's storm, being stuck in one's driveway is a distinct possibility) so I got up an hour earlier than usual and got all the kids dressed and into the car and to the bus stop and to the Y and into their respective childwatch rooms at least 10 minutes early. And it paid off cuz there was plenty of room, whereas most Friday mornings find me running in five minutes after class has started, pushing my way into a spot at the back of the class.Oh, and speaking of my spot in the class, guess what!?!!/!??!/1?My girlfriend T, who teaches the class, told me she wanted me up front because I can move.Hee!*side note: My baby has this cute new thing she does when she's excited or upset or at any other sudden onset of emotion: she tucks her little fists up under her chin. That might be what I did just then. :)So I was in front for today, which felt pre
