Retail King of India. Two years ago, no one took Kishore Biyani seriously. His company, Pantaloon Retail, was seen as a one-man show. Here's how the maverick ignored conventional wisdom on retailing, and

I don't discuss too much what my husband and I do IRL, but suffice it to say, we own our own business in the financial services arena...how's that for vague? :) But it does give me some perspective on how to discuss financial matters with folks.
I'm trying my hand at blogging about these matters...

We may imagine, Paul writing this letter to the Romans while at Cenchreae, one of the ports of Corinth,. Its purpose may have been to provide an "apology"----a defense for the principles and methods of his mission. Phoebe, who lived at Cenchreae, was to deliver it. She was apparently an early deaconess---a woman set apart by the church to care for the sick and the poor. She

In what seems to be a deceptive maneuver to many in both the medical and the publishing fields, Merck acknowledged that it has been known to hire outside professional writers to develop research-related documents that eventually get published under the name of reputable leaders in the medical community. Critics are expressing doubt about the validity of the research and about the actual involvement of the scientists listed as authors of the papers. One especially galling example is that of the paper being developed as solid academic research but the lead writer is listed as “External author.”
Dr. Joseph S. Ross, of New York’s Mount Sinai School of Medicine, came across the apparently ghostwritten research studies while reviewing documents related to lawsuits filed against

What if I told you that the hottest comedy producer in Hollywood today, Judd Apatow, was making a movie written by 80's pop-directing legend John Hughes and Seth Rogen? I’d say it’s in theaters, and you didn’t even care to go see it. Drillbit Taylor actually began as a story from John Hughes. You know, the guy who was responsible for most of our favorite films from the 1980's - National Lampoon's Vacation, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, European Vacation, Weird Science, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Planes Trains & Automobiles, Uncle Buck, Christmas Vacation, and Home Alone. Hughes dropped out of filmmaking in 1991, but continued to do some work for hire script work under the pseudonym Edmond Dantès (a reference to the main character in Alexandre Dumas’ nove

FOX News took note of Camera's report on how the BBC faked a report about the house of murderer of several students at Mercaz Harav, with the intention of getting people to sympathise with the devil. The house has yet to be demolished, but the Beeb claimed it had been, when in fact, it had not, though it most certainly should be torn down soon.
Now that's something to give FOX credit for.
A few months ago, I was very honored to be selected to write for a website that bears the name of a Black woman's magazine that has long since ceased publication. The editor seemed genuinely excited about my writing and I was thrilled with the opportunity. But the editor flaked out on me on a way that I found to be both tacky and unprofessional. I put a lot of heart into the pieces I drafted for the site and even though I am disappointed at how that situation turned out, I am happy that I have my blog readers to share them with. This one was written in December.I never thought it could happen to me, but it did. I'm sick. I'm infected. I thought I had been careful, I protected myself to the best of my ability. "If you?ve been injured in an accident, call me NOW! Right NOW! I can get you the money you deserve. It costs you nothing. I will protect your rights and fight for you! I care about you!"
Sounds silly, doesn't it? Yet this is what most accident attorneys say to try and get accident victims to hire them. What's worse is that these statements say nothing about the lawyer, his or her practice and experience. There's virtually no useful information given to help consumers make an informed decision on which lawyer to hire or how to look for a good lawyer to assist them with their case.
This is one of the reasons why I wrote my book, "The Ten Biggest Mistakes That Can Wreck Your Washington Accident Case." I believe my job as a lawyer is not just to help my cl
At some point in time, every business has a need for professionally written articles, whether they are to be used for website content or for other business purposes. There are services available to meet these needs, and the professionals who specialize in this area are known as ghostwriters. A ghost writer is someone who writes creative stories, articles, blogs, journals and other pieces for different types of businesses. The difference between a ghostwriter and other professional writers is that the entries written by a ghostwriter are typically published under a pseudonym. This allows a company to take credit for the written work without having to actually produce it. This concept is not new, and for some time, borrowed work has allowed businesses to provide professionally written work that is tailored toward their industry. The nature of this work has changed over the last several years because of the explosive growth of the internet, and because of this, ghostwriters have become a

Since I am not a business and it will not clear the bank, how can it be collected?A Yahoo post offers answers for this question @ http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070318145401AAUHrAZYou may also want to check with your local police department or prosecuting attorney office. In some cases the police will collect bad checks. Check with them as soon as possible because there is sometimes a time limit (the check may need to be less than 90 or 180 days old). Check collection programs through the police are often called "bad check restitution" programs or "check enforcement units."For businesses that receive bad checks, they may access the completely free bad check collection service from NorthStar at www.bumchecks.com.
Well, I sent off my first letter to a prisoner last night. Went and got a PO Box for a bit of anonymity and typed up the letter, printed it, and mailed it.
I’ve wanted to do this for many years. I found someone on Write A Prisoner. I had wanted to be completely anonymous and do it through an email account, but that seems to be impossible at this point.
She’s young, but we had some things in common so I thought it would be a good start. I hope I don’t get murdered or something now.. I do worry about that a bit. But I do think I watch too many crime shows like CSI and Law and Order, and too many murder mysteries. So hopefully this is just a normal world thing and it will work out good.
Many of the men and women are looking for romance, I hope they will take a friend pen pal instead. No romance for me, I save that for my husband.
Hi. Tried to post last night but had problems with my computer so I shut down. Anyway, things are nuts in LA right now -- there is very likely about to be a Writers Guild strike as there appears to be an impasse between the studios and the Guild. I know a lot of you will have questions about it, but to be honest, there are so many complicated issues that I can't explain them all but if you go to DEADLINEHOLLYWOOD.COM, ARTFULWRITER.COM, UNITEDHOLLYWOOD.COM those 3 sites can give you some insight as to what writers are feeling and if you go to the AMPTP's website, you can get the studio's point of view. If a strike happens, PB will air probably through episode 13 ... then we'd be on that long break that PB takes every season anyway, and then we'd come back for the second half of the season (that is, of course, if the strike is over) But we'd be behind on scripts and production because, basically, everything shuts down when there is a work stoppage from writers or actors or director
One of my friend’s wrote an interesting paper on a “friend relationship” with a person of the opposite sex. I found it very interesting and I believe it reveals a lot of interesting concepts and reflections of how individuals look at a friendship.
In the past I have always had a best friend who has been a girl, and a best friend who has been a guy. Every time I would hang out with my guy best friend Tommy people would always talk and say that we were more than then friends. I of course had a boyfriend and he too had a girlfriend. There are so many times when people would misinterpret our relationship and just assumed that we were more than friends. I can honestly say that as long as you do not cross certain lines with your best friend then there is nothing wrong with the relationship. I would say that through out my whole life I have preferred to have a guy as my best friend then a girl because they are so much easier to trust.

Tuesday is Dating & Relationships day at AlexShalman.com
When Alex asked me to do a guest post about dating, relationships or family it was a no brainer, since I’ve been out of the dating scene for 14 years and according to Alex’s post yesterday, he intends to be a Daddy one day. With that said I figure that I would share some of my best parenting advice.
Developing a strong relationship with your children is very much like developing a relationship with anyone. It takes work and it won’t always be pleasant, but by following a few simple guidelines, you can be a great parent.
Some of my favorite pieces of advice:
Be your child’s first and favorite toy
Human interaction is the key to our existence. Be your child’s first and favorite form of interaction from the moment they enter our world. Talk to your kids constantly. Read to them. Teach them to use their imaginations by asking questions and posing alternative outcomes to even the most predictable tasks. As they get o
The Qur’an, Islam, Man, and God
When asked to define Islam to a non-believer, a Muslim may respond with a simple repetition of the shahadah: La ilaha illa Allah; Muhammad rasul Allah (There is no God but God; Muhammad is the messenger of God). The simple creed is quite telling: God is One, and there exists no other, and his message, whatever it may be, was revealed through a messenger named Muhammad. What forms the bulk of Islamic piety is this message, which is revealed to man as the Qur’an (“recitation”). By probing into the history and the role of the Qur’an and oral narratives of its messenger Muhammad, called Hadiths, we can find answers to keen questions concerning Islam: who God is, what role human nature and human responsibility have, and what relationship exists between mankind and God.
When a 40 year old man named Muhammad (570-632 CE) decided to take a religious retreat to Mount Hira for some prayer and meditation around 610 CE, he found him
"We need to be very precise then, about what I said wearing my stars and being very conscious of it, and that is, very simply, that we should respect those who want to serve the nation but not through the law of the land, condone activity that, in my upbringing, is counter to God's law."If you want to follow "God's law," then perhaps you should become a General in the Pope's army, but here in America, the only law that matters is the one the 13 colonies approved in 1787. Sometimes it agrees with "God's law," sometimes it doesn't. If you can't accept the times it doesn't, then perhaps you shouldn't be a part of our government.Have a nice day :-)
Well, it looks like I found an internet computer where I'm staying in Eilat after all, and for now, here's an article from the Boston Globe about a teacher in Brockton, Mass, who put together a comic called Gunplay.
When I first started blogging, I didn’t know very much. Not very much at all. And to this day, there’s still a lot I don’t know and yes, I will openly admit that. But months ago, when this blog was new and still on Blogspot, I wrote some things that I completely disagree with in today’s time. Opinions change. Here are some of those posts I wrote in the past that I’d never write again today if I could:
Earn Money using SlashMySeach - I’d never write this again because SlashMySearch is just such a horrid waste of time. It’s time NOT well spent. You could earn more cash doing other things, and their search engine sucks anyway. Go Google!

I Love the BlogMad.Net Traffic Exchange - Really, I don’t. Maybe months ago, but no
I'm beginning to see why it took me so long to move out of Mum's sleepout. Paying all your own bills licks ass. To say nothing of scrubbing your own piss-stains off the bathroom floor, but hell, at least you know they dribbled out of your cock. I've had to make a lot of sacrifices in the last week-and-a-half, all in the name of tightening my belt. The more astute of you may have noticed that I'm writing this on dial-up, as broadband was a sacrifice I had to make.I can live happily without YouTube, Google Video or being able to load all the flashy, animated shit on some dick-fuck Emo-kids' MySpace page, but what the hell am I going to do for porn?! For the moment, I've had to revert back to using my imagination. As it's been quite a while since I've felt, cupped, grabbed, squeezed or punched a real, actual breast, the image in my mind that I'm beating my cock bloody and raw to may not resemble a real, actual woman, inasmuch as it may resemble a monster from the Dungeons & D

But I’m stuck here, I ignore the heat and stay in a temperature-controlled room of 18 degrees – cold enough to make the windows sweat. This year I decided to go off tangent and pick places I have never been to before.Much to my chagrin, I had never been to the beach. You see, I hate the sand, the bugs and the mosquitoes, but I figured it would be fun with everyone around. As we reached the villa I was spraying Baygon everywhere. I thought I had nearly killed myself with all the insect repellant and Lysol disinfectant I kept on spraying. I am so not into roughing it up. For me, the minimum requirement for traveling is a Holiday Inn.A couple of days later saw us wa

At about 1:15 p.m. today, I wrote a check for Master M-mv's first semester of college. As some of you know, he is technically a high school senior (which is why we're paying this tuition bill), but he will attend the local college as a dually enrolled student this fall. As it turns out, he will attend fulltime. Two neat things happened in the hour before I signed my name to the check:1. He aced the college's math placement test, an accomplishment that, yes, to be frank, did come as a delightful surprise.2. He earned admission into the honors English comp/lit course. This wasn't a surprise, of course, but it did serve as a validation of sorts -- for both the student and his teacher.So.My seventeen-year-old's reading-thinking-learning days will take on a new look on August 20.And I will miss him.I will miss him very much. You know, it's all over in a couple of math textbooks, museum visits, cocoa breaks, and trips to the library, folks. Well, yesterday was the 4th but I had to work. The Laguna Hills Senior Center was hosting their own "Senior Moments" parade and I was in charge of leading them all in the "Stepslide Shuffle". They all had dyed their hair blue for the day and wore handmade red & white overalls. It was really very cute! So, today, my day off...I thought "what do I really want to do?" and the answer was "nothing". So guess what? That's what I did. Nothing. For 8 hours. I tied that new hammock to the back trees, grabbed a book, my guitar, and set about relaxing. Times like today I am so happy I bought that starter house with the yard. I could have gone for the fancy condo in the swinging singles complex but today tells me I made the right decision. I do wish that beady eyed woman from next door would quit peering over the fence at me. She's giving me the creeps! Didn't beehive hairstyles go out in the 60's ? Just wondering. Every week we tell about a person who was important in the history of the United States. Today, we tell about writer Edith Wharton.(MUSIC)VOICE ONE:Edith WhartonA critic once described American writer Edith Wharton as a "self-made man." She liked the comment and repeated it. Others said she was a product of New York City. But the New York she wrote about was different from the New York of those who came after her.Edith Wharton was born in New York City in eighteen sixty-two. New York then was several different cities. One New York was made up of people who worked for a living. The other was much smaller. It was made up of families who were so rich they did not need to work.Edith was born into the wealthy New York. But there was a "right" wealthy New York and a "wrong" wealthy New York. Among the rich there were those who had been given money by par
Pop culture has now taken an even more drastic and dangerous turn in America. Hollywood starlets and playboys are finding their images plastered across not only tabloids but also newspapers that sell themselves on journalistic integrity across the world. Their lives have somehow come under extreme scrutiny by the world’s populace. Celebrity X’s most recent foray into rehab is somehow more important to world affairs than the civil war in Sri Lanka or the recent threats leveled by Putin concerning missile defense in Europe. To say that “tabloid times” have gotten out of hand would be an understatement at best. But who is really to blame for the state of mass media?Take for instance the most recent scandal in Hollywood: Paris Hilton’s entrance, exit and reentry into prison. After spending my day researching various international events I couldn’t help but notice that pictures of Hilton crying in the back of a police car, paired with various headlines (all seemingly callous and

Ball removal procedures differ depending upon the manufacturer of the mouse. Foreign balls can be replaced using the pop off method. Domestic bal

This was a poem I wrote with my baby sister. When I asked her what she thought I should write, she calmly looked me in the face and said..."You should write about Leah, a blue horse with wings." So, she and I sat down and came up with this together. It was lots of fun having her input and whenever I need some imagination, I go to her."Leah Blue"written by Summer Hake and Missy Sue HansonIn a valley, not so far and not too near,I met a horse from whom I had nothing to fear. Her name was Leah and she was blue, and I'm almost certain that of her kind there are seldom few.Her coat was a blue so brightit sparkled and shimmered in the morning light.I thought for sure I was seeing things when at that very moment, sparkly blue Leah went and sprouted wings.White wings that glimmered like glitterand as I took a step back I observed that they really did fit her.For magical and mystical she seemed to bewhen she turned that beautiful blue head and looked at me.The air seemed to sizzle and actually q
(By the way, the image at left is of a painting by my unbelievably talented artist friend Becky. If you like it, check out her online gallery.)I'm not sure this (below) counts as a poem. It was sort of meant as a response to Ken's excellent homily in today's service within our Easter Season series. (Series word/image: "blooms".) We did a kind of extemporaneous poetry slam in response to Ken's content this morning. I'm hoping some of the other folks will send their stuff in to be posted on the church services blog that doesn't quite exist yet, but will soon. I'm not that impressed with my own effort, but some of my homeys' words were so sharp and fresh as to elicit gasps, as well as finger snaps. Now that our cable is back up and running, I can post this entry I wrote last night. Whoo Here it be:Each note of the piano brings a sting to my heart and warmth to my soul. Just sitting here, listening to music and writing down my thoughts eases my mind and helps me to connect to myself. In therapy, they ask us to list things we’ve done for ourselves lately in several categories, one of which is spirituality. I’m not a very spiritual person. I don’t believe in something like a spirit or a soul. I believe what we perceive to be some other worldliness to humanity is merely synapses and neurons. The same synapses that have caused this illness that’s entrapped my very being. My parents are giving me an allowance and have asked I not take a job. I can understand their concern, but it is difficult for me to feel like I can live among these normal people. For example, Miki keeps pointing out how much I eat compared to her. Granted, she weighs much less than I do and she’s a half
My friend bought me a road atlas, and I told him, “I don’t own a damn car.” How about a sidewalk atlas, for the times I take my dog for a walk. Or when I go with my girlfriend for a stroll, because I’m too cheap to take her anywhere else. Or simply when I’d like to spice it up a bit when going to the grocery store or bank. And while we’re on the subject, why don’t they call the sidewalk “the road,” and call the road “the sidedrive?” I’m sure that’s how the British do it.
Also, sidewalk is a discriminatory name, because I’m in a damn wheelchair. I call it the sideroll. Now imagine cleaning up after your dog, and having sex with your girlfriend when you’re in a wheelchair.
He got me a road Atlas, but I don’t need someone who is going to shrug when he holds up the road. I need something provides security when holding up elevated roads, like a beam. Note: I do not like Ayn Rand.
Okay, chances ar
#674: STOP CYBERBULLYING DAYI wrote about sweater vests, and nobody came. Imagine! Sweater vests, a dead uncle, and a vain cat did not draw in the masses, did not create for me minions out of unwary readers. The internet is crazy like that. And the internet can be mighty crazy. After recent incidents of cyberstalking and harassment, including an unconscionable attack of Kathy Sierra, Andy Carvin has declared today Stop Cyberbullying Day, and he has created a social network using Ning called Stop Cyberbullying, which aims "...to discuss cyberbullying, identifying resources and solutions to address this epidemic of online cruelty."So, join the community, do not suffer the nastier of the internetters, and even take it a step further: go out and be nice to a blogger or more today, because it can be mean out there.
Hello, my friend. I know you may have come here for your daily dose of laughter, or even a piece of biting social commentary. You may even just want to hear me bust on your favorite R&B singer, so you can leave me a nasty note in my comments section. I'm sorry, but I may just have to disappoint you this evening. I gotta get some personal things of of my mind. Feel free to bounce. And if you want to hear a joke, go to http://thebeautifulstruggler.blogspot.com and click on "Greatest Hits". The Ikea post is always good for a chuckle. But tonight, it's just me being me, in a very different way. One of my favorite books, "Shifting: The Double Lives Of Black Women In America", has a line that gave me great pause. One of the authors pointed out how the fact that Black women refer to Black men as their "brothers" may complicate some of our gender issues. I have recently realized that the fact that I think of Black men as brothers has certainly allowed me to have some somewhat unrealistic ex
Well have finally found a moment to write another post. I am still deeply enchanted in Dawn Cook's "Truth" series, and yes, reviews will be posted soon. Am on the third in this series and so far it just gets better and better ... recently finished the first book of the dragonriders of pern - I know, who waits this long to start such a classic series? Well for some odd reason I just could never get into it before - but now that I've started I am glad. OK - truthfully - its not quite the style of writing I really love to read, but it certainly is a classic. Plus I can't read feminist fantasy without reading Pern!!

*Edited below! Because this post wasn't quite long enough!
If you were cruising the mom-and-dad-o-sphere this past weekend, you no doubt became aware of the crime against sanity that was last week's Today Show discussion on mothers who tipple (a discussion that included our very own Melissa and Stefanie). Apparently, mothers who drink alcohol in front of their children - any drink, any amount -

So Ms. Beyonce started off telling fans that she wrote her now hugely successful hit “Irreplaceable,” as you can see in the clip below. Turns out that is a lie.
But then on a few talk-shows she admitted that she co-wrote the song with Ne-Yo. Well that’s not so true either…
Ne-Yo admitted in a recent Power 106 interview that he wrote the entire song and Beyonce only wrote a few harmonies. Again, Beyonce has exaggerated the facts… Co-writing does not equal coming up with a harmony… So to all you ladies who call “Irreplaceable” an anthen and talkin bout this and that, yo anthem was written by a MAN! So how that feel? Just playin with yall… Listen to Ne-Yo sing “Irreplaceable”.

Let's admit it - watching a Presidential campaign for four years is only bearable if there's some blood spilled. Not literally, obviously, but metaphorically. And the best bloodshed comes in the nominating phase. Internecine warfare - friendly fire, if you will - provides the best entertainment. The political blogs and websites we're all going to be visiting will be the ones promising hot Democrat-on-Democrat or Republican-on-Republican action.
Arkansas Republican Governor Mike Huckabee got the ball rolling last week with this gentle swing at Arizona Republican Senator John McCain, reported by Associated Press in the Arizona Republic. McCain is the primary author of campaign finance reform legislation that, amongst other things, allows a candidate to transfer money to a presidential campaign from another federal office campaign, but not from a state office campaign. In other words, McCain can move money from his Senate campaign account, but Huckabee can't from his gubernator
Judy wrote today. She is much more talkative and open than she ever has been in the past few years.Im guessing this is because of the new prison she is in. They seem to be more lenient than any other Ive heard of.She is allowed any visitors and used books. Most of the time books must come straight from the publisher and have to be paperback. She says"It is my understandingvisitation is very lenient here. Inmates are bringing back jewlry their visitors are wearing in! No, they dont have permission. No one cares."Judy has always been one of my favorites. One reason beacuase she is from my home town, another because she is so articulate and easy to talk with on any subject. But mainly I think it is because I relate to her. I can see how she would have commited the crimes that she did if Alvin had such a hold on her.I saw my own mother live through astonishing abuse.I began writing these women for that very fact. I spent my early adult years tethered to a man who treated me like shit but
Murder, She Wrote was a series about the former English teacher Jessica Fletcher, widowed in her fifties with no child, achieved success as professional murder-mystery writer and novelist. Each episode, Jessica become involved in murder investigation by carefully and methodically piercing the clues together, gently but firmly asking questions that no one else had asked and come out to being one person able to make sense of the case and trap the guilty party. Jessica became fame with her very popular novels, but still maintain her links with friends and found new friends in many police departments across US. It seemingly ridiculous how murders follow her around the country and endless collection of nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws who always needed her help. The "Murder, She Wrote" was the longest-running TV mystery series for almost 12 years gracing the small screen. It was premiered on September 1984 and lasted until May 1996, completing the total of 12 seasons, about 264 episodes
I couldn't agreed more with the article "Fox on the Run." It doesn't make any sense for a news station to side with just one party for whatever costs. Fox was and still is all for Bush Administration and the conservative Republicans. After 9/11, Fox has had the most fun until now. The Iraq war has dragged on way too long, and it has became very unpopular. Fox in the past used Iraq War to boost their ratings, but since Iraq wasn't the number one issue any longer, Fox has little left to mull on.
How about Fox another favourite topic, our dear president Bush? President Bush said the same things over and over again for quite some times already. There weren't much to cover on Bush beside he kept on saying that Iraq musts go on. B
