An examination of the brain of wrestler Chris Benoit revealed evidence of extensive neurological damage at the time of his death.  Benoit, a well-known professional wrestler, killed himself in June of this year after murdering his wife and child.  At the request of Benoit's father, Dr, Julian Bailes, head of neurosurgery at a top American university, examined the brain and concluded that the extensive damage resembled what would be found in "an 85-year-old Alzheimer's patient's brain".  Stating on American TV that the damage was "striking and maybe shocking", Dr. Bailes added that  "we think we have great anatomical damage here from previous trauma. Whether it had a psychiatric or behavioral expression, we certainly think that's most likely." While the most likely cause of the damage is from the numerous concussions that Benoit sustained during his wrestling career in Japan and America, he was also known to be a heavy steroid user.

Former World Wrestling Entertainment star Brian “Crush” Adams was found dead Monday in his Florida home, according to the Tampa Police Department. Adams’ wife called 911 after discovering her husband in bed unconscious and not breathing, but paramedics were unable to revive the 43-year-old World Tag Team champ, who retired from competitive wrestling in 2003 after suffering a spinal injury. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine the cause of death and authorities and an investigation is underway. The police’s incident report states that there were no visible injuries on Adams’ body. Full Story

You know, Benoit was trained by Stu Hart, and the deaths of the wrestlers who were in that Hart circle is very concerning and almost eerie. Benoit was very close to Davey Boy Smith and Owen Hart, who passed away in recent years. His best friend Eddie Guerrero had died in November 2005.The reasoning for this tragedy is probably going to be hard to swallow. There can only be mass speculation at this point.
