Local suspense film to debut at Wonderland.
From the South Bend Tribune:
Kurt Struss knew he needed to improve the look of “First Night Out,” his initial foray into filmmaking. That’s why he attended that 2005 Mid-America Filmmakers meeting where he met Thomas Zuber.
“We knew our views kind of clicked,” Struss says by telephone from his home in Buchanan.
So Struss recruited Zuber to help improve his film, and a partnership was born. The duo formed Struber Productions and began reading each other’s scripts. That’s when Zuber showed Struss “Whispers.”
“It was a good, clear-driven ghost story,” Struss says.
On Thursday, “Whispers,” which was filmed in Buchanan and LaPorte last year, will have its theatrical premiere at Wonderland Cinema in Niles.

Tomorrow is the start of rummage sale season. Mom and I have always loved rummage sales, but a few years ago we gave ourselves an excuse to go to them. Mom and I started selling collectibles on eBay (we're ccshoppers), and over the past three or so years we've made enough money to help out each Christmas and take care of our annual camping trip together. The downside is that Mom has two entire rooms in her house that she can't use because they are filled with boxes of items to sell, not to mention all the boxes and shelves in the basement. Sometimes we make out very well: a Royal Doulton figurine purchased for 99 cents at a thrift store netted us over $150. Other times not so well: a set of Fire King dishes with a rare pattern we picked up for a couple of dollars went for just under $80, b

SCI FI's newest original reality series, Ghost Hunters International, follows the adventures of a new team of paranormal investigators as they apply their principles of scientific debunking to some of the most legendary haunted spots around the world.Like their U.S. counterpart, TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society), Ghost Hunters International is a squad of real-life ghost-hunting experts — ordinary people who investigate and attempt to debunk claims of otherworldly activity. Comprising veteran TAPS investigators Robb Demarest, Andy Andrews, Brian Harnois and Donna LaCroix, along with Barry FitzGerald (memorable from the Ghost Hunters' legendary investigations in Ireland) and newcomer Shannon Sylvia, the Ghost Hunters International crew is primed to uncover some of the most startling p
If only my fingers could reach so far, through time and space of this plane. Each line of your face would be tracedwith gentle strokes and remembered, carefully tucked away in synapsesof star blinking memories.I remember what you love:Lady Ocean sends her skirts of foamskittering across the sand and rocks, with quiet swooshing of the ebb and flow. Each small shell upon the shore, jewels. Some are broken, some are whole. In each hour of life are echoes of the living. Is there an answer in the shadows of thought?Do you or I only know as glass mirrors with reflection, one soul to another?Mind and soul awakens to know more,no words to speak. What soul is mine or yours, when the window is seen from inside out,yet the knowing gaze was outside-in?The sun, reflects like flames of fire in your eyes.Your foot
What do you say to someone who means the world to you? Do you say “I love you”? Is that simply enough? Do those uncomplicated, straight forward words enclose everything you mean to say? Do they speak those unspoken volumes of human emotion? Do they encompass that feeling of pure bliss, the sustaining satisfying feeling you get by knowing your loved, needed and wanted? That absolute high you feel when you’re together? And that calming soothing effect you get lying in your loved ones arms? I think not.Do the words “Thank you” justify it? Thank you for the good times we shared, thank you for the millions of memories we made together, Thank you for all the times I will cherish for years to come. Thank you? Is that all one needs to say?How do you put into words that awe stuck emotion
As Jason noted in his recent post, in the wake of the FISA vote-that-was-not “the blogosphere immediately picked up on Dodd’s leadership.”
Certainly the man deserves credit (or blame, depending on your stance) for what occurred. No matter your viewpoint, however, you must admit that the man has guns, and he sticks to ‘em. His leadership on the issue was laudable, and many did not hesitate to say exactly that.
While I don’t hold Senator Dodd in the much-heightened esteem that some of my colleagues here at the Seminal do, I must admit that watching him stand and deliver on the Senate floor was impressive. He spoke eloquently and passionately, leaving no doubt that he was acting from conviction. It was clear that the issue, in both his mind and the minds of his supporters, was a vital one.
But to read the New York Times coverage of it was to miss all of that flavor. In its place was a bland quarter page that didn’t do justice to the event.

So, it's Day Three of the GM Meetings, nothing has heated up yet, but today could be the day*!! Been pretty slow so far today as far as any new rumors, but there is some big news on the steroid front:
*probably not
Twenty months into his investigation of steroid use in Major League Baseball, former Sen. George Mitchell for the first time has obtained voluntary cooperation from an active player.
According to a source familiar with the investigation, the player, whom the source did not name, volunteered to speak with Mitchell in the coming weeks, ending the wall of silence Mitchell had encountered in trying to get active players to cooperate without the leverage of subpoena power.
The source described the player as one of several players Mitchell wanted to question because of their previous public comments opposing steroid use, not because the player was connected to any steroid use of his own. The source said the interview with the player was scheduled to take place "very soon."
Whoa.
It's definitely going to be one of those weeks as far as entertainment news is concerned. There's a distinct lack of juicy gossip to milk from the celebrity cow, and there's only one person we can wag the fickle finger of blame at:...

When I last saw Star Trek Online, it was March and I was at Perpetual Entertainment's studios in San Francisco. There were a few early (and impressive) terrain builds, a handful of character sketches and a group of extremely excited designers and artists working on the project.Fast forward to the Austin Game Developer's Conference, where I had the opportunity to sit down with Daron Stinnett, Executive Producer of Star Trek Online. Where was the project now? "We are in pre-production, so we have our tools and technology in place." said Daron, "We have our ground game-play prototyped, our space game-play prototyped, we have our art style set, we have the design of the world well understood and mapped out. We know where our players will be visiting and the races they'll meet along the way. In 2008 we are heading into production to produce the massive volume of assets needed to create this universe."Star Trek Online will have classes similar to existing MMOGs, although they

What is an Apparition but the supernormal manifestation of people, animals, objects, ghosts and spirits? Most apparitions are of living people or animals that are too distant to be perceived by the normal senses. Apparitions of the dead are also called Ghosts. Despite extensive study since the late nineteenth century, scientists know very little about the nature of apparitions. Most apparition experiences feature noises, unusual smells such as roses, dirt, or food cooking, extreme cold, and the displacement of objects. Other phenomena include visual images, tactile sensations, such as a feather brushing down your arm, voices and apparent psycho kinetic movement of objects, and sometimes a faraway voice or scream. Visual images are seen only in a small percentage of reported cases. However, a camera will often pick up the outline of an Apparition. A study of Apparitions published in 1956 by American psychic researcher Hornell Hart and collaborators showed no signific
My life has been relegated to whispers, at least as far as my own voice and hearing goes.
I currently have one of those horrendous and fiery sore throats where you try to avoid swallowing at all costs because it burns like crazy. It is one of those sore throats where you have a headache and where your jaw hurts because you have been clenching your teeth as you try to minimize any and all movement in your throat. Needless to say I didn’t sleep well last night, how can you when you are unconsciously grinding your teeth and are in pain? Throw in seemingly realistic yet bizarre dreams and that just adds to your restless slumber.
But there are a few silver linings in all of this. At least this illness waited to take me down until after I was done with Keri’s Cake Walk Birthday Party. (Yes, it was a raging success. More details to come later when I can think coherently.) And at least your house is more peaceful, calm and less contentious because whispering has become the mo
A featured world premiere at the 31st Hong Kong International Film Festival, Whispers and Moans is yet another change-up from versatile director Herman Yau. The director of the cult Category III chiller The Untold Story, Yau brings us a different sort of Category III film this time: an adult-themed social drama about the stark realities behind Hong Kong’s prostitution trade. Joining Yau is a strong cast, including Athena Chu (A Chinese Odyssey Part II), Candace Yu (2 Young), and Monie Tung (My Mother is a Belly Dancer), plus singers Patrick Tang, Yan Ng, Mandy Chiang, and Don Li - who defies expectations in a role as a transvestite prostitute saving for a sex change operation. Based on a book of interviews with real-life Hong Kong prostitutes, Whispers and Moans is an unexpected, intelligent, and human portrait of the city and its unique culture.

I recently discovered a really cool G.I. Joe comic curtesy of Toy Bender pal and real life G.I. Joe Red Zone, that’s made with G.I. Joe toys. There’s a few of these things out there, but Whispers of War is the best one I’ve seen so far.
This thing is completly balls to the wall awesome. I can’t even begin to describe how kick ass this is. It’s so ball kicking awesome that when it plants its steel toed boot in your nuts, it will go back in time and your Grandpa will feel it, making him sterile and thereby causing a time paradox.
I realize that I’m selling this pretty hard, so I’ll let Whispers of War speak for itself:
While there are a few over the top scenes, it’s a internet comic featuring toys so I wouldn’t get all Rogert Ebert on this bad boy. It’s simply cool-ass action with a great plot and fantastic dialoge. I read this thing at work and I’ve got to warn you, there was at least two moments where I almost yel
Just came across a great lingerie shop..and the best bit? It’s AUSTRALIAN!! Yay for me! With the exchange rate the way it is, and postage, it’s not worth my while to buy from overseas based sites. It just ends up far too expensive. They do ship worldwide as well. And the site name I hear you ask? SATIN WHISPERS. I love it, it just sounds so delightfully naughty, without being naughty…a bit like me really
Anyway, onto my wishlist! Rather than using images, I’ll post some links to my favorite items. If you choose to click, please do not come back and harass me and tell me it’s TMI, you click at your own discretion
This would be perfect for summer evenings…and this one I could wear underneath my work clothes..but this one here, now this one would be for special occassions only
Of course there are many more to choose from, and it’s all nicely categorised with an easy to navigate site. To be honest I was pleasantly surprised at some of t
It's a sad state of affairs when you think to yourself "I wonder how long it'll take for the mental health story to reach other members of the online community? more so the part where I said I had a eating disorder." I'm guessing only a few hours and certain people will be talking about it.
And when that does happen, it'll be the talk of MsN for sure. The story will change a 100 times. Certain people, who claim not to give a shit about people they've met online, will spend HOURS/DAYS/WEEKS/MONTHS going on and on about it.
That happens quite a lot to the people that blog with me. There's a lot of hatred and that's an even worse state of affairs. I dont know if anyone has ever had the misfortune of talking with shallow people, as we have. The rumors, the attempting to create a situation that must lead to online arguments, the attemped belittling that happens daily...The joys of online.
What makes me wonder, is what people actually gain from it all? I've been there. I've done a f
One of the things you learn fairly quickly if you work on a moderate sized IT/computer project is just how difficult it is to (a) find out what people really want a system to do and (b) communicate that desire reliably and unambiguously throughout a team of people. The cartoon, which is a classic of software engineering humour, appeared in the University of London Computer Centre Newsletter in March 1973. I have seen it in many places since. The design process can suffer the equivalent of 'Chinese Whispers' (and where does that name come from). The antidote is the process of Verification, Validation and Testing ... but that's another story for another entry.Sometimes the mistakes are quite subtle, but sometimes they are painfully obvious and disasterous. One project I worked on back in the days when computers were built with little memory and processors much slower than today involved laying out where everything sat in memory right from the outset of the project. One team was wor
