      The Importance of Weekends
I didn't know how precious weekends are until lately--It's the time for people to do things of their own. Thank god I didn't volunteer to do that job, otherwise I would've been to spend my whole weekend in the cubicle. Got up early in the morning and trying to get lazy while washing sheets and stuff, but a bad call totally made me crushed. What on earth did I do to deserve this? Do I really have a fate to be miserable? If I can do anything to save this, I would do anything for sure. I hope to get better soon since working stuff has already handed down some pressure to me. I gradually begin to get to know what is going on in the new environment and hopefully I can find the comfort zone like I was having in SJTU as soon as possible. Also, my campus card was frozen by the admin, and I was qu

      Bank Holiday weekends are evil.
I have a keen dislike for Bank Holiday weekends. For starters, I have to say that I think the Australian term for having an official nation-wide ‘day off’ from work is far more accurate than the British term. We Aussies refer to these blessed days as ‘Public Holidays’, because that’s exactly what they [...]

      Weekends are for movies
Sunday nights, I like to pull away from my homework and watch a movie. Around 7 or 8 pm, I look through my DVD library, searching for a film I haven't seen recently. I turn down the lights, put on my headphones, and recline my desk chair. Nothing should interfere.I forget about what presses me and I immerse myself in the film. The headphones block out external noises. The darkness hides my work. After the opening credits have faded away and the movie starts, the illusion nears completion. Within twenty minutes, the escape is complete.I remove from my mind the protective blocks I need. I no longer must deal with the constant barrage of modern life. No direct advertisements, no attacks on my mind. Disbelief is completely suspended. Anything shown can happen, nothing is too extreme. For the n

Sometimes, the pattern or design I like and I think it will sell alot, no people interested. But those items I think which is just so so, TS or his sister will say they like it. And sometimes it will sell even more. Funny right? Different people have different view of design and pattern.TS sister shop is in the only shopping mall at Pontian Kechil Town, Johor. The Lost Weekends
One of the greatest difficulties I find in trying to achieve work-life balance is: the lost weekends. For many reasons, I should be referring to them as the “gift weekends,” the “blessed weekends,” or the “found weekends.” We spend every moment of them with our kids, which means we spend more time playing, laughing, and being silly than we ever did (or could have) in our weekends before kids. But as far as handling the demands of work, they are the “lost weekends”:The weekends used to be a time where I could consistently put in several extra hours— and as much as 10 or 20 hours when things were really hopping. The weekends used to be a time where I could consistently get some rest. Actual physical rest like sleep, and equally or more importantly, mental and emotional rest—

Yes, I do love my weekends.
{summary}One (of many) things that really irks me is when someone tells me that I “don’t understand” what they’re trying to explain. I understand perfectly well.  I especially understand that some people don’t want to listen to what I have to say that negates their spiel.  It just isn’t convenient for them at that moment for me to be right. I’m specifically referring to one particular incident at work where I caught a client in a lie.  She was confrontational from the get-go.  I explained the information that had been provided to me that didn’t line up with the statement she originally provided.  I know what information she’d provided because I was taking notes during my interview.  I tried to express to the client that she had lied durin

Some people say that since their traffic generally goes down on the weekends they should save their best posts for when their site is receiving the most amount of people. Others say that posting on the weekend is a great way to get new readers since a lot of people are home during the weekend.

My BFF is never online to play, and I get totally overwhelmed with house, and family...and there is no escape (It's hard to come up with things to do that are FREE...and since we have no money, free is all we can do). Somehow, walking into a clean and nice bedroom is not only good for hygiene and health reasons but it brings upon a sense of relaxation. Perhaps I should get myself a new set of bathroom vanities since the old one is looking so old and tatty. New sheets for the bedroom are nice to sleep on and help to spruce up the room. Weekends are for relaxing, right? A chance to sleep in, catch up, etc.? Perhaps. However, September found me "sleeping" in airports, cars, and parking lots for three weekends in a row.Weekend #1: Saturday it is up at 6am, airport by a little after 7am, headed to Dallas by 8am. Land in Dallas, walk out to the car that is picking me up. Late morning beer, wings and football with a dear friend. Then it is back to the airport to be in Houston by 3pm. Plane lands, I throw on a tie, and take a cab to Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church. One may recall the last time I was in Houston, but this time we're celebrating a wedding. The reception follows the wedding: a lot of beer, conversations ranging from philosophy to music, and a little dancing. After the reception, we all go to La Carafe overlooking old Market Square. The dark wine bar is said to be the oldest bar in Houston and is a great place to sit on the balcony at the end the evening and polish off a couple bottles of wine.Aroun

      Weekends are made for fun
Weekends. Isn’t that a wonderful word?? Although I am around the house pretty regularly, weekends really are my favorite time to be at home. Something about a Saturday or Sunday simply makes the light look different and of course, it’s way more relaxed, especially when your teenager can sleep until noon if you let him. IF. That’s a big IF. I never let him and I secretly think that he hates those moments when I plunge head long into his room on a weekend morning, pull up his blind and start ripping the blankets off of him in earnest, calling out to him in my most annoying sing-song voice to get hisself outta that bed. Or quite possibly, he loves it to death. Maybe. Then you have weekends where your most fun and adorable nephew Matt visits and you get treated to his warm jack-o-lantern smile (he’s 7 and rapidly replacing all his baby teeth) and a willingness to chow down a large plate of pancakes because he LOVES them so much. Look at that last photo…the

      Weekends are popular
A while ago I added those little rectangular icon thingies (they are actually called chicklets!) down on the left hand side of the page. I did it because it's meant to be a great way of publicising your blog, but it has an interesting side effect. I have always been able to look at all sorts of stats and graphs and stuff to see how many people come to Tasweb, where they come from, how long they stay, which pages they view etc etc, but now you can all see some of those stats yourself. If you click on this link it will take you to Topblogsites and you will be able to view a graph of the unique visitors to Tasweb. I was looking at this today and noticed that it goes in waves that peak at about 200 visitors a day with lows of about 125 unique visitors a day. I wondered why this happened and then I noticed that the peaks were always on weekends. Looks as though all that talk about workers spending all day on the Internet may not be true!

      Weekends.
This weekend we had a house full, old friends, small people and our son. I love it when the house is full to bursting, lots to eat and drink and just good times. We were lucky with some fantastic late summer, early autumn weather. Here is Joe beneath a deep blue sky on the beach. I haven't seen him since he left for Australia nearly a year ago and it is with great pleasure that I can feed him up, let him have lie-ins and generally indulge him like I never did when he lived at home. Justin and Sam and their baby Eliza, the little poppet, she is a really good little thing with a very endearing habit of "eye smiling" when she likes you but an alarming habit of climbing, very fast, almost before you have blinked she is up up and away, scaling chairs, stairs and other household objects. I had forgotten quite how busy little people keep you.Last but not least is "dear old Dom" , here he is with HBB. I care for this chap very much, I worry that he does not look after himself well enough

      Three-Day Weekends: Washington D.C.
When I get off the plane on trips to Washington D.C. and see the nation’s capital on the drive from Reagan airport a sense of patriotism comes over me. Yes, a bit strange, even surprising from a person who lives in the liberal/radical bubble of San Francisco. I know I am crazy, but I love history and D.C. is a city that epitomizes the past, present and future of this country. I am not saying the USA is a perfect country, far from it. We have our problems, mistakes that have happened and continue to happen, our overbearing media blitzes, unfavorable decisions about politics, foreign policy, domestic policy and so on and so forth (but what country doesn’t I ask?). When Americans travel throughout the world there is this preconceived notion that we think we are better than everyone else. Well Americans that do travel don’t generally think this and if you give them a chance and get to know them you will find that most are people with drive, enthusiasm, kindness an

So Michigan Avenue is crowded with people. So getting a bleacher seat for a Cubbie game can be a small fortune. Chicago is by far one of those places that makes me smile, that gives me a craving for Old Style Light, that makes me ecstatic to wander the city streets all day, that says it is okay to shop until you drop, that even though I am looking up at skyscrapers all day my neck is feeling just fine…could I gush even more? Well, yes! A pal of mine, Erin Montgomery, was also born in this fabulous town. We were longing for summer in Chicago back in May. To be honest, I have never been a huge fan of Los Angeles, but the last few times I have ventured down south I have been happily surprised by the experience. Los Angeles has the sun, the celebs, the shopping, the cuisine, the mountains, the diversity….and the list goes on. With sunglasses, flip flops, and sundresses in tow I ventured down for the SoCal experience. Throughout the weekend we ventured to Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Westwood, Downtown, and Woodland Hills. My tour guide was anything but boring. This weekend wasn’t dedicated to your traditional sense of sightseeing but checking things out from a true local perspective. Update, and next weekends challenge
Quick update this one as there's not a lot to tell you.I did a 6 mile trail route on Tuesday. On Wednesday I worked late and wandered downstairs about 7:30pm feeling hungry. I rustled myself up a bowl of pasta and ate in, only to remember I'd not gone for a run! So, that put an end to the run on Wednesday, quite by accident. Eating just before a run makes me (and I'm sure everyone else) feel awful. On Thursday I went out and did a little further than planned to make up. I did 9 miles. On Friday my usual gym session, then on Saturday I did 10 miles trail, including 1000ft of ascent. It was also a hot day about 26/27C. I made a point of running always in direct sun when possible. I would deliberately move out of the way of the shade! I'm trying to get used to suffering in the sunshine, since shade will be in short supply in the desert!Today I had planned to do a 15 mile route, but first I took my Son to Cariba Creek, the water park at Alton Towers theme park. Well...here it is :)I'll try to make it short and put some more visual material :)About my last weekends...2 weeks ago I went back to Zarasai to help my dad fix his car (there were some huge problems with the engine) so he could go to the hospital on Monday by himself. It all went fine and I also got to have several beers with my old friends I didn't see for a while (thanks for great evening, dudes).Then...a weekend after that one. My dad was still in a hospital, so i gave a ride for my mom to see her sister. I changed my cars oil and air filters there and watched my friend Darius finishing up a couple of tires (enjoy the videos). Next day (night) we went fishing, but we didn't catch much. And the morning after that I went to the biggest and probably nastiest market place in Lithuania - Gariunai. Yep, it's still the same: crap all over the place... :)Then several evenings with beer and pool balls.Last weekend I got myself...a kite!

      it’s the weekends again!
Whoa! It is the weekends again - how fast! This is definitely different from the one I had last week cos my detox is over and I’m feeling alot better Well, I mentioned in my earlier travel post about the possibility of Las Vegas in our December vacation and it seems to be materializing! While checking out an overview on our trip, I can’t help but take note of Orlando and the popular theme parks. I know Clayton will love to visit Disney World and the other fun theme parks but we just have to put this on hold first. But I will keep in mind the discount Disney tickets should we plan for a trip to Orlando in the future. The best thing about these discount tickets is that they can be booked on line and basically it is so convenient to get all the Orlando night show tickets and theme park tickets via Orlandofuntickets.com. Save time on queuing and along the way, you get to save some bucks for other things.

      Busy weekends
I always expect to be able to enjoy some quality time with my paints at the weekend, but it rarely seems to work out that way. This weekend is turning out to be no exception, though with tomorrow being a holiday, perhaps there is still hope! However, I did manage to get out in the garden to do a bit of sketching. Pen, ink and Inktense pencils (which I'm getting to like more and more, by the way). technorati tags: drawing, sketches, pen+and+ink, inktense, garden

      Weekends Suck!!
Yes, they do! I have been in the house all week. And the one day I wanna get out, our one working vehicle decides to kick the bucket. Talk about your lousy luck. So now I’m sitting here, waiting for my friend to finish war, and surfing around some forum while thinking of what to do with the theme I am working on and what plugins to put in. Le Sigh…I can’t wait till we get our new car. I’ll be sure to post pictures!

      The Weekends Roundup!
What an exciting couple of days it has been for the ’soccer’ fans this weekend. We’ve seen a total of 25 goals, 35 bookings and 1 sending off! There have been some truly amazing games along the way too, here’s my run through of this weekends events and we’ll have a luck how my predictions went shall we? Arsenal V Reading As predicted a win for the Gunners. A penalty from stand-in skipper Gilberto Silva and a Julio Baptista drive in the 62nd minute were enough to make sure Arsenal sealed the win despite a late comeback attempt from Reading after Cesc Fabregas turned the ball into his own net three mintues from time. My Prediction: 2 - 0 Actual Result: 2 - 1 Fulham V Aston Villa Woo, I’m good! I didn’t expect anything else from the league’s draw specialists here. The visitors took the lead through new signing John Carew, however their lead was short lived when Fulham’s Bocanegra was on hand to poke the ball home two minutes later. M

It looks like everybody had such a good time at the LA PR weekend. Is there a regular schedule of these events? Or are they more loosely planned? Is planning for the next one underway? I'd be very interested in attending one.Last post by Cidell at Thu 17 Apr 2008 02:40:51 PM Total posts: 2 Visit PatternReview.com to read this entire topic.Shop for New Look patterns at PatternReview.com
