Album Review: Weather Report - Weather Report (1971)
Probably about three years ago I was in the mood to hear something radically new and exciting. I went down to my local tiny used record store where I spent many a Saturday afternoon. The owner of the store runs the place basically by himself so he's always there. As a result the guy had a pretty good understanding of my tastes (as well as an influence upon my taste) so I trusted that he would

Weather Report - Black Market 1976

      Haiku Friday: Weather Report
The weather forecast:Maybe snow or maybe iceThey get paid for this? One says a shovelAnother an ice scraperWeathermen don't knowI'm really not sure what to expect this weekend. Our area is already under a winter storm watch for Saturday, but no one can say for certain what's coming. However, it's enough to send the city into a panic to buy up all the bread and milk at the grocery. You'd think we were living in Atlanta, not Columbus. It's a little ice and snow, people! We're Ohioans - we can handle this! Also, in keeping with today's haiku theme, I wanted to let you all know about a haiku contest at LeastLikely2Breed.net. Details can be found at their site, but the basics are if you e-mail them a haiku about one of their products, you can win a cool prize. And for each entry they receive, they'll donate $.50 to Doctors Without Borders. Deadline is Dec. 22.To play along for Haiku Friday, follow these steps:1. Write your own haiku on your blog. You can do one or many, all followin

The Hawaii weather report is.... WET
Friday evening on the news, they announced a flash flood warning for the entire state through late Tuesday night. We haven't had that much "weather" in Kona, but it poured on Sunday. Apparently they had real rain troubles on Oahu. It's gorgeous today so far, but I won't be surprised if we see a few more downpours later today or tomorrow.I've been working on the boat getting it ready for charter. I just have to finish the main cabin door and hang it, along with a few other little things. Tomorrow we start chartering again. So far I have charters lined up for Tuesday, Wednesday evening, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. November in the past has typically been my slowest month, so it's not looking too bad from here on.Here's a couple of shots of the cockpit of the boat. That's me, dirty shirt and all (much to my wife's horror), sitting on the transom and coming out of the cuddy cabin. It's a bit difficult to get a handle on the size of the boat. It's not a huge boat by any mean

      Weather report and other chitchat
WeatherWe've had a tropical rainstorm for two and a half days − the rain hasn't stopped in all that time. It's a little chilly − high 60's to low 70's F (20-23 C) with 96% humidity. That is called a frente frio (cold front) in Honduras. Apparently there must have been a problem somewhere west of us on the highway to San Pedro Sula because our newspaper didn't arrive until after 1 p.m. yesterday. It normally comes between 7 and 8 a.m.A bridge is out in Tocoa to the east and some 250 people have been evacuated. Most of the north coast of Honduras is experiencing flooding, schools have been closed, and many communities are cut off from the rest of the country because of flooded roads and damaged bridges. Another 24 hours of rain is expected. It's amazing what you get used to in this country. This is the photo I took of the Rio Danto a couple of weeks ago. The photo below is from yesterday's La Prensa.Rio Danto after one day of rain (La Prensa, Honduras) Falling treesA tree fel

      weather report: snow......again
The weather report is snow...again. It's the weekend and we have to make due inside. Good thing I bought more paints yesterday. My daughter Emily seems to enjoy the paint. I went over colors with her, and we did some finger painting. So nice to share the creativity with others. It's been some time since I've done any artwork. Finding a balance is challenging. Though I was thinking, as I gaze out the window, that I should come up with a holiday theme for next years holiday card. Never to early to plan. I also realize that despite going to see my mom (bubbie)recently, we again forgot to get the sleds out of the basement for our kids. Maybe next time. lol I decided to get my site tweeked a bit and hope to enjoy more traffic to it. I've been adding stuff to my site but I've come to the conclusion I could use someone with internet marketing experience. My mind was getting a "full box" feeling trying to sort out the do's and how to's to improve my site. When you need help,

      Weather report
It's 1:22 p.m. and 26 degrees Fahrenheit -- sunny with patchy blue skies and gusts strong enough to lift the swing full of snow and knock a junco off its perch. The driveway is shoveled. It never seems so long as when it's being shoveled, but you know that feeling, don't you? All of the public schools in the county were closed, according to WBBM. We studied, though. And played.Happy snow day, folks.Added later: Eight inches, by the way.Looking for holiday gift ideas? Consider M-mv merchandise.Visit our bookshop.
