From the Register Guard:Home inspectors in Lane County endured an anxious winter, and the early spring real estate sales figures are offering little to sooth their nerves.Closed and pending sales were each down about one-third in March, compared with March 2007, according to the Regional Multiple Listing Service.Cumulatively, Lane County’s several dozen home inspection companies — which are hired by buyers or sellers to inspect properties and report on their condition — had a potential pool of 547 fewer houses to inspect since last September, compared with the same period during previous year. That’s a loss of as much as $200,000 in revenue to inspection firms.“The inspection business goes hand-in-hand with real estate sales,” said Sylvia Duerksen, executive director of the Amer

The uprising in Tibet is the latest in a long series of developments in India’s neighbourhood that has exposed India’s congenital inability and lack of desire to get itself to be counted as even a small player, forget a major one, in the region. The ongoing protests against Chinese oppression in Tibet have seen India bend twice over backwards like a little nation so that the Chinese are not annoyed at all. All the cacophony about “morality” that accompanies other developments to influence India’s response - national interest be damned - is conspicuous by its almost total absence. This time, it is neither morality nor national interest which is determining India’s official and even media response to what China has been doing in Tibet for 60 years. This time, it is an unashamed, u
There is a sense things are getting a little toppy in the Bullish Percents. The S&P Bullish Percents have moved to a 'Sell' trigger at a resistance level marked by December highs. Unlike December, the S&P is above its 50-day MA, so it may simply be a blip on the road to higher levels. But it is a warning sign: Bullish Percents for the Dow and Nasdaq were flat and haven't yet marked future weakness.
Weak global markets dampened investor sentiment and triggered a sell-off in metal, capital goods, information technology and oil stocks on the major Indian bourses today. Select bank stocks bucked the trend. A few stocks from power, pharma and PSU sectors also found support.Even as a majority of large cap stocks struggled in the red, a host of stocks from midcap and smallcap segments progressed to higher levels on strong buying support. The market breadth, thanks to a fairly decent show by mid and smallcap stocks, was positive when trade ended today. While the Sensex ended the day with a loss of 169.46 points or 1.08% at 15,587.62, the Nifty eased by 51.55 points or 1.08% to 4709.65. The Sensex touched a low of 15,479.42 in intra-day trades while the Nifty plunged to 4677.80.Engineering and
Many lenders are taking comfort from the initial assessment that the UK market will experience a soft landing for house prices in 2008.However, the overall picture is likely to disguise a wide variation in house price growth and transaction volumes across sectors and regions. Localised sharp falls in demand could result in house prices for certain types of property falling by around 10%.These localised and more limited falls can translate into significantly higher levels of arrears and losses for lenders. The importance of maintaining consumer and business confidence cannot be understated as increased price volatility is inevitable as volumes slow to much lower levels.Lenders now have a declining appetite for risk. The credit crunch has resulted in lenders reducing their overall exposure to
How would you like to send your commercial emails to people you do not know, but are expecting to receive such mail from you? Wait a minute. That does not sound right. How can this be?It is simple, if you know what is really going on. Everybody who is on these lists, also known as safe lists, knows that they will be receiving emails from other members. This is possible because that is one of the conditions of their “safe list” membership. And those who join these lists are willing to agree to this condition because they themselves would want to send out their own commercial emails to the others on the list. The result: everyone is sending emails to each other but no one is reading them!It gets worse when some savvy members sign up for the membership using a free or less-frequently-used a

Summer Movie Season is a hard budget time for me. But I am a movie junkie. Have been since I was a little kid. Every other kid wanted their birthday party at Chucky Cheese or any Pizza place. Not me, I always wanted to go to the movies.I was lucky to grow up near one of the best movie palaces outside of New York and Los Angeles; Indian Hills in Omaha. Unfortunately, it is gone now but it was one of the few Cinerama theaters outside of a big city. It is where I saw Star Wars for the first time, had my real first date, and the last time I was in Omaha, I took my Mom out to a dinner and a movie as I was now a big time music school attendee and future Rock Star :)The reason for the nostalgia trip is the Summer movie Season is coming up and I will have to stretch my entertainment budget by cut
Women are very strong individuals who deal with many natural changes during a lifetime such as pregnancy, menopause and the monthly inconvenience of the menstrual cycle. Due to the fact that all these factors are natural many women simply put up with the symptoms and other discomforts during these stages. However, all natural occurrences in a woman's natural course of life have different influences on her body such as an hormonal imbalance, which can lead to depression at times. Women always try and put a strong front, but women's mental health is fragile and can easily be disturbed should any of the natural factors go out of hand. Between Facts and Myth Many women even today simply put up with many daily discomforts because they were told this is a natural thing and they have to deal with

Benjamin Netanyahu has rightfully taken Ehud Olmert to task for his pathetic act during the Annapolis farce:
"Arabs do not respect a weak prime minister," opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu said Thursday following the Annapolis summit, which he described as "a failure."
He said there was "a virtual element" to the conference. "It was as if we were talking peace with a courageous partner but (
Hey Folks,
Welcome to Goal Setting Lesson Five.
What Position Do We Start From
Very often when we set goals that we dream about, it involves doing something that we have little or no competency in accomplishing. Hence, it is my opinion that most of the time, we begin our journey to our dream from a position of weakness.
That is the very reason why many people fail to take the first step after they set their goal. They could not even begin to do what they set out to do due to the lack of competency.
For those who manage to get started with their limited competency, most manage to turn around in circles after a while and give up their dreams in frustration.
So is there any solution?
In my opinion, it either your improve your competency or outsource the task that you need to get done (this not applicable in all cases).
Outsourcing
What are the cases that you can apply outsourcing? Here are some examples:
- Getting your household chores done with minimum intervention (don’t laugh, t
My mother loved children. As the secretary of a small Catholic elementary school for almost two decades and the aunt of a dozen nieces and nephews she had lots of opportunities to engage in some serious 8 year old dramas and lots of boo boo kissing. The kids in "her school" loved her in return and from the moment they started school they learned to call my mom by her first name and forget that
Credit card debt consolidation help before delving into the topic, let us first know about credit cards and their benefits. Fred Thompson needs to back out of the race. Maybe he can do so on Letterman. He has shown nothing that would inspire conservatives as many predicted. You don't enter a major campaign...late...and then just coast along on cruise control. He needed to have a strong and in-your-face type of first month. I'm disappointed. Not because I planned to vote for him, but because I was excited by all the hype to hear what the man had to say. So far he hasn't offered anything. That's why I wish he would now just back out of the race nice and quietly. In an already crowded field, we need to be narrowing the field of candidates down. Two categories of candidates need to be remaining:1) those with a chance of winning the 2008 Presidential Election, and 2) those with the ideas that need to be heard (important or different).I've been listening and waiting for #2 from Fred Thompson for a long time. He has yet to deliver. Oh, he'll say something here or there that I agree with, but he never offers an
The LSU Tigers (6-1), (3-1) had two double digit leads of 17-7 and 27-14 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, but could not hold on for a victory at Lexington against a rallying Andre’ Woodson-led squad, that came off a tough loss (38-23) at the hands of Steve Spurrier’s South Carolina Gamecocks (21-15 win at North Carolina). Kentucky (6-1), (2-1), a team known for pulling out impressive comebacks (Louisville, Arkansas), scored the final 13 points in regulation to force an overtime, after Kicker Colt David was wide left on a potential 57-yard game-winning FG.
In the first overtime, UK benefited from a roughing of the passer call en route to a 1-yard TD run from Freshman RB Derrick Locke, a replacement for their injured starting RB Rafael Little. LSU quickly answered back, with a fake FB, Halfback toss to back-up RB Richard Murphy, one of many talented backs that the Bayou Bengals have stacked in their program at the arsenal of Head Coach Les Miles, who has trouble ch
Tuesday night is track workout for San Diego Track Club. The past few times I have gone, we ran horse trails and dirt hills. This last Tuesday, we did one of my most feared hills—the last hill of the America’s Finest City Half Marathon’s (aka: the hill of hell). I came to the workout, not knowing it would be that hill. IDIOT!
I got there late (thank you traffic). I jogged to the meet-up area at the tail end of the warm-up and stretching. I knew I was not getting enough of a warm-up and stretch (because of my tardiness). My eagerness to get to the workout and my excitement of being out without responsibility (i.e.:domestic joys) got the best of me.
I headed out down the enormous grade without a thought. I did not even know we were soon going to trek back up the same hill. Up and up we went, up Sixth Avenue, and back down, through the edge of Balboa Park. We all bunched up at the bottom of the hill and did it again. Five times. FIVE. The trail was about .6
Here is a snippet from a great article I read:"The first time I was in Sweden, one of my colleagues picked me up at the hotel every morning. It was September, bit cold and snowy. We would arrive early at the company and he would park far away from the entrance (2000 employees drive their car to work). The first day, I didn’t say anything, either the second or third. One morning I asked, “Do you have a fixed parking space? I’ve noticed we park far from the entrance even when there are no other cars in the lot.” To which he replied, “Since we’re here early we’ll have time to walk, and whoever gets in late will be late and need a place closer to the door. Don’t you think? Imagine my face.Basically, the [slow down] movement questions the sense of “hurry” and “craziness” generated by globalization, fueled by the desire of “having in quantity” (life status) versus “having with quality”, “life quality” or the “quality of being”. French people, even thou
I bought a couple of stocks and sold one today. The two I bought, HOC and BLUD, are both stocks that I have successfully traded in the past. The one I sold, PPC, was a trade that worked out beautifully but it had reached my target price so it was time to sell it.I began buying PPC on 8/3/07 and my average cost per share was $33.49. I sold today for $39.49 for a gain of 17.7% (annualized return of 269%). Here's where I bought PPC off a BOB that bottomed at its 200 day moving average. I loved the setup when I bought it and it worked out even better than I'd hoped.HOC began bouncing over a week ago but the chart looks to me like it has the potential to go a whole lot higher. I bought it at $64.75 today and will conservatively be ready to take profits at its 50 day moving average of around $69. If it happens to plow straight through that average I may look to hold it into the mid $70s. I also picked up BLUD at $32.61. I view this one as a shorter term trade and I will be happy to extract
Recently, I attended a running expo prior to a road race and took the photo below. (Please disregard the bad photography skills as it was taken with a cell phone.)Anyhow, this picture is of a booth one of the exhibitor's, which just happened to be for chiropractic care. The dry erase board in the center was what I was trying to capture, as it certainly got me to notice (and chuckle). What caught my attention was that the written sign read something like: "We will give you $100 cash if we cannot find a weak muscle on you!"Does anybody else find this funny or ridiculous? Given the fact that I have treated numerous runners/athletes all with an injury, they all have presented with some lower extremity muscle group weakness. And I am sure, that if I did not find any deficits with the larger muscle groups, I would most likely find at least a 4+ somewhere. That counts as weakness right? And, don't most healthy people have some weakness somewhere? (Abductor digiti minimi anyone?)My
NEW Zealand rugby coach Graham Henry has admitted the All Blacks did not perform at their best during their 20-15 loss to Australia in Melbourne.
After numerous taunts from the Australians that the All Blacks were not unbeatable, coach Henry took the unusual step of acknowledging his team’s mental weaknesses, dismissing a lack of match practice as the reason for the All Blacks defeat at the MCG.
"We were off the pace. I don’t think we’ve played insufficient football to be more…

I took a look at a handful of pricing metrics for Orange County and I have to say that even as a died-in-the-wool housing bear, I was pretty shocked by what I found. Let’s start with our three key metrics:% of ZIPs with median price down year on year: 77.3%% of ZIPs with median price down from 2006 median: 80.0%% of ZIPs with price per square foot down: 62.7%.Astounding. Fully four in five ZIPs show price declines between February and all of 2006 and nearly that number on a year on year basis. Four-in-five. I can remember not long ago when that number was closer to two in five. Things certainly have changed.Looking at the data another way, fully 92% of OC ZIPs showed weakness in at least one of the three above metrics, with five lonely ZIPs having been spared the from pricing contagion: Laguna Beach’s 92651, Trabuco Canyon’s 92679 , Fullerton’s 92835, Newport Beach's 92660 and Villa Park’s 92861. If you don’t live in one of those four ZIPs, PRICES IN YOUR AREA ARE FALLING

Today I wandered into darkness, my past. I weakened during a moment of dismay over "Love" I have been fighting these demons for months now. Unwilling to except defeat in my thinking it will all come back as it once was. I am talking about my past relationship & the love for him that resides deep inside me. We failed as companions, both sharing a wicked passion for drinking & gambling. It was a time of great discomfort in our lives, a time when all that should have been sacred to us was not. Fun became addiction, addiction became madness & through that rage we became distant, each blaming one another for bad times & poor living. Today I lost my battle & indulged once again in booze & the filling of the club coffers, with no respect for myself or anyone else. I let my emotional state cloud my judgement & walked away penniless & even more dismayed. It doesn't matter how confident I feel, how much I think I have won the battle. It only takes the smallest of heartbreaks, th
As most have now seen or heard, the Conservatives launched a largely baseless and tasteless attack ad campaign in an effort to delay an election and retain control of their minority government. The first set of ads take aim squarely at Liberal leader Stephane Dion, while a second wave will hit the French language channels shortly. Money is no object for the Tory spin doctors on this one.Mr. Kenney (Secretary of State for Multiculturalism) refused to discuss the Tory budget for this negative-advertising campaign, saying only that his party will spend "as much as it takes to drive our message home"A more realistic assessment of the situation came from deputy Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff, "They're running scared".Scared and rudderless. The irony is that the Tories would have nothing to fear if they would just show some political skill. The environment is the number one issue with voters, and every other party in Parliament has recognized this and taken a strong stand on t
"America's greatest strength, and its greatest weakness, is our belief in second chances, our belief that we can always start over, that things can be made better." Anthony Walton A report this week shows that China is leading all nations in investment in renewable energy development. Of the $38 billion spent worldwide in 2005, China was responsible for $6 billion or nearly 16% of the total. The US was a distant third despite boasting a GDP almost six times greater than that of China. In addition to their investment in renewable energy, China already has legislated renewable energy targets while an expanding number of their wealthiest businessmen are heading companies that produce clean power, including the sectors richest citizen. The story is similar in Brazil where earlier this year the country attained energy independence, largely through committing their economy to domestically produced ethanol from sugar cane, ensuring a lower carbon impact for their developing e
If someone were to ask me what I thought the sexiest colour was i'd have to say white...I know the usual response is either RED (Lingerie) or BLACK (Leather) but to me there just something irresistible about a chick in a white top...And NO the top doesn't HAVE to be soaking wet, however it does help step up the sexy meter!!! :p Why am I blogging about this nonsensical topic? Because I just promised to buy a certain sweet individual a top of her choice PROVIDED its white!!!! hehehe (yes I have evil ulterior motives) I've actually done this before....Quite a few times if i'm not mistaken...OK so it puts me down by a few hundred bucks...But its worth the investment! Have you noticed how tiny tops look when you pick them up?!?!?...Its scary...Their ABSOLUTELY skimpy!!!!! I mean if you buy a shirt or a tshirt, its always of considerable size...I mean you have to spread your arms to see the whole thing properly...But you pick a top off the shelf and you immediately think "shes willing to
