While dropping Entrecard I have found other great blogs. One which I like very much is DeadRooster.com. Once he posted something about cats and fur balls. I was such an amazing and funny post, that I would love to share it with you. DeadRooster is explaining the 3 steps of how to recognize a furball situation.Just a small excerpt:1 The HuffYour cat gets scrunche down on all fours with its neck stretched out and begins to huff.2 QuagmireAt this stage, your cat will stiffen its front legs and violently percolate as it bobs its head up-and-down like Quagmire from Family Guy. This motion is always accompanied by the “Hicka-hicka-hicka” noise universally recognized as the “she’s about to blow” warning.3 Geraldo RiveraAfter this rather spastic episode, your cat will immediately begin t

Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology, San Gerardo Hospital, Monza, Milan, Italy.AIM: The recent rediscovery of the natural traditional medical sciences has contributed to improve the treatment of the human diseases and, in particular, it has been shown that the pharmacological approach is not the only possible strategy in the treatment of nausea and vomiting, since bioenergetic approaches, such as acupressure and acupuncture, may also counteract the onset of vomiting due to different causes. Previous preliminary clinical studies had already suggested a possible efficacy of acupressure also in the treatment of chemotherapy-induced vomiting resistant to the classical antiemetic drugs. The aim of this study was to confirm these preliminary data. METHODS: The study was performed in 100 cons

Nausea and vomiting are common complaints for many women during their pregnancy. A recent clinical involving over 126 pregnant women compared the efficacy of Ginger and Vitamin B6 (separately) to placebo. The pregnant women were randomly allocated to receive either 650 mg of ginger or 25 mg of vitamin B6 which were both administered three times per day for 4 days. The study authors concluded that both Vitamin B6 as well as Ginger were effective in relieving the symptoms of naseau and vomiting in pregnant women. However, the study authors also concluded that ginger was more effective than Vitamin B6 in relieving theses symptoms in pregnant women. Side effects from ginger were reported to be minor and did not require any treatment.Reference:Chittumma P, Kaewkiattikun K, Wiriyasiriwach B. Comparison of the effectiveness of ginger and vitamin B6 for treatment of nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy: a randomized double-blind controlled trial. J Med Assoc Thai. 2007 Jan;90(1):15-20.L
By: gayle What is Nausea and Vomiting?Nausea and vomiting are two of the most common symptoms of various diseases. They are also common side effects of different medications. Sometimes, these two conditions are taken separately, however, in some instances these two occurrences viewed as inseparable. Nausea is described as the unpleasant urge or feeling of vomiting, though it does not necessarily lead to that at all times. Vomiting on the other hand is defined as the expulsion of one's stomach contents through the mouth. These two conditions usually act as the defense mechanism of the body whenever there is an undesirable change in a person's system. Vomiting is best triggered during instances of food poisoning when a potentially hazardous substance may have entered a person's body and he or she must emit it immediately to avoid harm. Nausea on the other hand is triggered by certain situations and is processed within the brain. Sometimes, changes in the chemical balance of a person'

Acupressure & Nausea and Vomiting after gynaecological surgery. Acupuncture and acupressure have previously been reported to possess an antiemetic effect. Researchers at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, University Hospital inLinkoping, Sweden investigated this action for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting(PONV).Sixty women undergoing outpatient minor gynaecological surgery were entered into a double-blind and randomised study. One group received acupressure with bilateral stimulation of P6 (A), a second group received bilateral placebo stimulation (P) and a third group received no acupressure wrist band and served as a reference group (R). PONV was evaluated as number of patients with complete response (no PONV), nausea only or vomiting. In addition, the need for rescue antiemetic medication and nausea after 24 h was registered.Complete response was obtained in 11, 11 and 9 patients in groups, A, P and R, respectively. Nine, 7 and 6 patients ha
Acupressure & Nausea and VomitingDespite the use of antiemetic drugs, chemotherapy commonly causes severe nausea and vomiting in patients. But scientists have discovered that acupressure may hold the solution to the problem. Researchers at the Northern Ireland Radiotherapy centre, Belvoir Park Hospital, Belfast (1), found that of 105 patients who had failed to respond favourably to drug therapy, acupressure succeeded in preventing nausea and vomiting in 66% of the patients and, in fact, only 6% of the patients failed to benefit from the acupressure treatment. The acupressure was given alongside the antiemetic drugs and although there were no side effects, the benefits only lasted 6-8 hours. This presented no problem for hospitalized patients where the treatment could be repeated when needed, but it was a problem for out-patients. The researchers therefore looked for ways of extending the antiemetic action of the acupressure and eventually found the answer. Simply by placing an elast
Article Title: Dog VomitingAuthor: David BeartIt can be disconcerting when dog vomiting takes over your happydog world. Your best pal tends to get himself into a cycle whichhe repeats regardless of the outcome. His tummy gurgles withanticipation, sometimes audibly, thus he will graze in thebackyard hoping to facilitate the process, only to come insideand create a mess (which we would prefer hit the floor) usuallyon the carpeting or some other inconvenient to clean locale. Totop things off he then wants to re-ingest his expulsion. Everyonce in awhile dog vomiting is actually normal. Lacking theability to ask for an antacid, dogs are equipped with their ownnatural method of dealing with feeling ill. We have all had thatnauseated nastiness that indicates if we could just vomit wewould feel so much better. Dogs get that too from time to timeand thus, nature has provided them with the necessary means ofalleviating their discomfort. However, there can be much more significan

Oh those silly spammers.
Once upon a time, I checked the askimet bin thoroughly just in case some poor blogging soul was suffering through askimet considering their very worthy posts to be spam. I hated the thought that some unsuspecting blogger who might have been kind enough to read here and want to comment, might be accidentally in the spam bin and my blindly hitting “delete all” would thus “teach” askimet to permanently consider them a spammer.
However…
Once upon a time I had less than a hundred hits a day and spam accounting for just less than ten percent of comments, it was easy to go through them back then. At this time, I have more than 7,000 spam comments that have been caught by askimet. Easily, there are hundreds to check each time. I no longer am able to do that.
But for kicks and giggles (as Austin would say) I will sometimes have a peek. I found this “gem” in the bin last night and I had to wonder if I’ve finally gotten to
When you feel nauseous or when a little overindulgence over the previous night’s meal has resulted in expelling the contents of your stomach in the form of vomiting, instead of rushing to the doctor, try out some of these ‘quick fixes’ from grandma’s scrapbook. * Drink juice of tulsi (basil) leaves mixed with a little cardamom powder. * Chew on some cumin seeds (jeera). * Crush onions. Smell
Your brain is almost entirely closed off from the rest of your body by a layer of tightly linked cells called the blood brain barrier (often abbreviated the BBB). Although nothing can pass between the cells of this layer, small and/or lipid-soluble chemicals such as water and THC are able to pass through the cells, and thus access your brain. There are a limited number of sites in the brain where the BBB is intentionally circumvented, for here lie neural structures that require access to the general circulation to carry out their functions. One of these sites is called the area postrema. It is a small tongue-shaped area that lies on the floor of the fourth ventricle in the brainstem, and is involved the co-ordination of emesis, or vomiting. It is also called the chemical trigger zone (CTZ), which references its ability to stimulate other parts of the brain (the nucleus tractus solitarius and dorsal motor nucleus of the vagus - more info here) to cause you to puke if it detects a toxic s
