We don't usually think of ginger, turmeric and frankincense as medicinals. Instead the names conjure up images of a kitchen spice shelf, a tasty curry or an exotic incense. But these herbs do have a venerable therapeutic lineage. For thousands of years they have been used in Ayurveda (pronounced ay-yur-vay-duh), the traditional medicine of India, to treat arthritis and other ailments. Sometimes, th

So...A while ago, Alice, from Honey Pie, had posted a picture of her blogging area. I was going to do it too so I took a picture and then saved it in my draft folder for a rainy day. The day has come! Yeah, it's not really raining but I'm too lazy to do a real post. Here is where the magic escapes me. It ebbs from my brain cells and drips to the floor until it puddles at my feet and I have to get

Here I am sitting on my bed, still feeling the hangover from the show tonight (it started a bit slow but the ending was great). This trip to Thailand with the guys was suppose to be a "let it all rip "type of trip, so much so that I was made to promise to leave all the details of what is going on from this blog. I am not to disclosure any detail here. There is going to be a debriefing after this t

Companies and businesses often end up with bad debt and institutions regard bad debt as a loss for all intents and purposes. From an accountants point of view, this debt is in the accounts receivable category, and these are accounts receivable that will not be paid. Eventually bad debt will often be written off by a company as debt that will never be collected. The accountants in a company also cl
How Much Does A Mortgage Broker Usually Make Off Of A Mortgage Loan?By: CL HaehlSince compensation methods for mortgage brokers are not regulated by any government entity, it is important to note that brokers can charge whatever they want to for their services. Actress Natasha Richardson unveiled a foxy new look and rather more than she would have liked on the red-carpet at last night's star-studded Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala. I wonder mistake or a desperate attempt at publicity?

Ok so I am still trying to figure out how to put this vBulletin board together. It's more work than I thought it was going to be. I'm beginning to see why they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I was going with the smf forum which I really didn't have any major problems with, I just wanted something "better." I'll give you my final verdict in about a month or so.
Wiley - Wearing My Rolex is currently number 7 in the midweeks and is looking to chart this weekend although it's all down to us for it to jump to a higher position. Wiley is up against old lady Madonna who has 4 minutes to die and Sam Sparro's Black & Gold to name a few. It has also been revealed that Boy Better Know will be releasing their album VIP on 7th July. VIP will consist of around 12 tracks including Wearing My Rolex, Rolex Sweep (released as the second single on 30th June)and remixes of Doin’ It Again (Duppy) and Boy Better Know. Let's hope it stops there with the electro influenced dance tunes and we have a decent amount of gritty grime on there. The digital release is out now so head over to ITUNES and if you enjoy the track contribute 75p to support Wiley in his quest t
Barbie and Blaine didn’t get the home they were trying buy! .
WHY YOU ASK? Because it was a short sale. It was listed at a ridiculously low price. My guestimate was that the house was worth about 280,000, even in current condition and in today’s market.

Wiley (far right) kicking back. Photo by Jamie-James MedinaTo quote myself: "I heard while the video for 'Wearing My Rolex' was being shot yesterday, Wiley decided he wasn't into the idea, so refused to take part and instead sat in a car all day. I'm picturing Wiley slumped stubbornly across the back seats with his arms folded with label people continuously coming and trying to coaxe him out. In the end they had to shoot the video without him."In other news, I just found this hilarious crunkczar video. The song is by a guy called Ryszard Kuklinski, who I wrote about in my second most recent column in Vice.

Stephen J. Hadley speaks at the White House on Monday about the new National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) on Iran. (Photo by REUTERS/Kevin Lamarque). The United States went to war in Iraq based on the Bush administration’s belief that they had weapons of mass destruction. There were none. In fact Saddam Hussein was not even close to having a nuclear weapon and did not have the chemical weapons that they scared the American people into believing they had. After starting a war with Iraq over weapons of mass destruction, the Bush administration had begun beating the drums of war again over nuclear weapons. This time the target was Iran. Today, a major report that was prepared by 16 United States intelligence agencies was released saying Iran has stopped their nuclear weapons program. The National Intelligence Estimate found that there was a consensus, based on strong evidence, that Tehran had stopped pursuing nuclear weapons in 2003. The report was “moderat
Your Celebrity Boob Twin:Lucy LawlessWho's Your Celebrity Boob Twin? But I thought I'd shake things up around here. I saw this blogthing ages ago and thought it was a laugh. In no way whatsoever do my boobs look anything at all like this. In fact, in my head, I'm still a gawky, flat teenager who's overly conscious of her lack of cleavage. It was only post-Elliot that I could ever really justify giving the girls some support. It's funny how over the years things become less important.
I realize that on this blog I joke about beating my kids and if I were to be taken at my very sarcastic word every reader of mine will no doubt think that I deserve a one-way ticket to the Betty Ford and eons of sensitivity training. But! I would like to remind everyone here that in the real world I'm not some perpetually ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, alcoholic scumbag who beats her children with telephone books and poisons dogs. (Wednesdays excepted)That being said, I have my limits and when those limits are breached the little devil on my right shoulder shanks the little angel on my left shoulder in order to unleash my inner fire-breathing bitch.Happened yesterday. Wanna hear about it?Ok, so I spent the morning cleaning my big aquarium because my son dumped about two cups of flake food into it which would have most certainly killed all my very expensive saltwater fish. Most of my work has always been abstract Expression since last October when I began Artist Hideout, and while I enjoy it, I felt there might be something lacking. I’ve been thinking a lot about how technology has and continues to impact the art world and how to express that.
So my most recent painting, (and why I’ve been silent the last few days has been an assemblage project that will also be using the abstract form in it’s later stages. You must pardon the cell phone image below (I really must get a better camera than that), but here is where I am with this particular painting.
Using rags and some old computer parts (including a hard drive and an old security camera, a sea shell, these were first glued to the canvas. The rags were glued very loosely so to still give the impression of movement around a protrusion of the security camera lens attached to the hard drive.
I guess the idea behind this is that art is watching us as much as we are watching it. Where we are
Bargaining and keeping a close eye on your money is always a challenging affair while traveling in developing countries.
Chris at Nomad4Ever writes a great piece on how to avoid being scammed by Police in Bali. His principals can be applied to most developing countries.
I remember hearing a story of a foreigner in Cambodia who was quite down and critical of the country. While his friends when out for “Happy” Pizza, he was robbed at gun point of his money and passport.
Frantically, he went to the police station to make a report. The police were asleep in the cells, but did reluctantly put on their pants to make a report. The catch was they demanded $50 payment to begin the investigation. After handing over the bill, the police offered to drive him to his hotel, but not before pulling into a gas station and forcing the foreigner to fill up the tank.
The next morning a group of officers showed up at the hotel demanding another $100 to continue searching for the “unknown&
It usually means that I am forced to allocate my time to high priority activities.
One of the high-priority activities is making a living and the highest of high priorities is my family.
Last week we had a family gathering in Durango, CO and usually this is the only time once a year when all of the “clan” can come together and are able to enjoy a little bit of vacation time in unity. Durango has approximately 15000 people, and I found it interesting that Durango has approximately 1200 active listings. In comparison, Phoenix has 1,500,000 people and approximately 12000 active real estate listings. But this little fact was the extent on how much “Real Estate” I had on my mind on this trip. Everything there appeared to be so much more relaxed…
This is the view I enjoyed everyday for the past week and usually it was never more than 75 degrees – this view, the lack of cell phone coverage, no internet connection and other mindless activities were very soothing.

I recently read on the WebMetricsGuru blog, that Squidoo is changing because of complaints not because of a desire to do better. Complaints have been coming, from a limited number of people, that Squidoo is just a spammer, SEO gamer, and porn trading haven. This has not been my experience but then I have the Safe Browsing setting on "G" and I don't browse Squidoo much. The same complaints lobbied at Squidoo can be said for the Internet as well. I don't hear any of these people asking to have it closed down. Squidoo is going to take away the ability to use iFrames on lenses as a reaction not an action. This adversely affects me because I use it to display ScribD hosted PDF files and to point people to Joe Martin's cartoon of the day. ScribD allows you to put files online as Word, HTML and PDF files that can be read online and where you can limit the format and download capabilities of readers. It also means that people can see what they will get before downlo

At this very moment in many real estate markets in many parts of the country a soft market can lead to opportunities for many buyers. With many 30 year fixed rate loans with an 80% Loan To Value (LTV) the mortgage program guidelines will allow a seller to pay up to 6% of the buyer’s closing cost. For example if there is a negotiated sales price of $500,000 with an 80% LTV of $400,000. A seller contribution would be allowed up to 6% on $400,000 mounts up to $24,000. This would need to be a very motivated seller who needs to sell now. Unless a borrower tolerates total gouging on closing costs, this would be a heavy amount. However, a sum of $8,000 to $10,000 o
Maybe there is justice...I don't usually write about celebrities but I wrote my last blog about Paris Hilton being released from jail after only 5 days and she had a 45 day sentence. She pleaded no contest to dangerous driving and was sentenced to 36 months' probation, education about alcohol and $1,500 in fines. In the months that followed she was stopped twice while driving on a suspended license.I know if I did this, I'd probably lose my business and my future employment would be a challenge. However, Paris might just miss a few photo shoots.Anyhow, the judge decided she should serve the rest of her term - 45 days, although she may still get out early as for every 4 good days, inmates where she's sentenced, can get out a day earlier.Time will tell...Anyway, there is a little justice after all.Lisa

Tearing a cruciate ligament in the knee is not just something humans can do. Man’s best friend also can sustain the injury.
And, just like in humans, surgery may be the best option to repair the damage in dogs, according to a Kansas State University (K-State) veterinary medicine professor.
Dr. James Roush, K-State professor of clinical sciences and a small animal orthopedic surgeon, said a tear in the cruciate ligaments in dogs is caused by arthritis or rigorous physical activity. The cruciate ligaments are in the hind knees of dogs and prevent the tibia — the bone below the knee — from sliding forward when bearing weight.
If a dog is older, overweight and already has problems with arthritis, the probability of tearing ligaments in both hind legs is higher, Roush said. On the other hand, if a younger dog is playing catch and lands improperly on a back leg, the chance of tearing the cruciate ligaments in both hind legs is less likely, he said.
When it comes to repair

I had some new insights today as to why evil people enjoy such enormous success:
1) Evil has few, if any, opponents: To earn the label of "good" or "evil," you have to take ACTION that demonstrates your moral standing; most people neither attack/screw over (evil) nor defend/assist (good) the innocent, and thus are morally neutral... and the neutral tend to not get involved when there's trouble. Since evil is easier and more exciting than good, there are more evil people than good ones, to the extent that in most social groupings there aren't ANY good people; this means that the evil can usually act unopposed... and THEY KNOW IT.
2) Evil is fearless: Evil people are aware that, contrary to how it SHOULD work, it's highly unlikely that they'll receive censure from the authorities or the members of whatever group they're acting up in; that doesn't matter much to them, though, because they're NOT AFRAID of c
I just came across an interesting poll about piercings. The question was: "What body part do you have pierced?" 18% had nothing pierced while 38% had their ear pierced.
