I don't remember my question, I don't remember his answer, but I will never forget his grin. It was early in the 2001 MLB campaign, and Manny Ramirez now a member of the Boston Red Sox, was going to do something he never did with the Cleveland Indians. He was about to answer one of my questions on the record.Manny Ramirez was the most exasperating athlete I ever covered in over a decade of coverin
Let's see. Hmmm. Tis time to give a Smith Wigglesworth performance, doth numbers in the crowd may drop otherwise. Please pray for this man healing. Jesus still heals and delivers today. God has never stopped performing miracles. You do not have to pay for it, and you certainly do not need an "impartation" straight from Hell.
I'm not going to write much now, except to say that pushing this set of proposals through Parliament is not about the need to protect our freedom; that has been shown ad nauseam. It is about the need to protect Mr Brown's government's collective backside; they have painted themselves into a corner at a time when they have little political capital left and can't afford to admit that they are wrong.
Theoretically, we humans should be better adapted physiologically to the diet our ancestors were exposed to during millions of years of hominid evolution than to the diet we have been eating since the agricultural revolution a mere 10,000 years ago, and since industrialization only 200 years ago.Among the many health problems resulting from this mismatch between our genetically determined nutritional requirements and our current diet, some might be a consequence in part of the deficiency of potassium alkali salts (K-base), which are amply present in the plant foods that our ancestors ate in abundance, and the exchange of those salts for sodium chloride (NaCl), which has been incorporated copiously into the contemporary diet, which at the same time is meager in K-base-rich plant foods. He misbehaved with me and, I turned around and slapped him right across his face. Men think they can get away with anything. The Cadman Affair
Dear Liberal Friend,
Over the last week we have witnessed Canadians’ already fragile trust in the Harper Government dissolve as allegations of the Conservatives’ 2005 attempt to acquire the vote of former MP Chuck Cadman come to light.
If anything, the Conservatives’ knee-jerk reaction has been [...]
A commentary I read from a national broadsheet paper a few days ago observed that a significant portion of the middle class frustrated with the lack of legitimate venues for pursuing meaningful reforms under Arroyo administration are willing to support exercises in military adventurism like coups as a result of the negligible prospect for the mounting of another peaceful EDSA-type uprising that can topple the present president which is now seen as the same, or even worse than her deposed predecessor.
On the other hand, there are those willing to turn a blind eye on all the scandals and the creeping martial law happening under the present dispensation and are even willing to support the stimulation of calculated events to justify the imposition of unconcealed martial law or a state of emergency on the pretext of preserving whatever economic gains pulled together by GMA.
Both are unacceptable for me.

This Editorial from the State-Journal.We're certain it came as a shock to parents to read that Franklin County High School is one of 28 high schools in Kentucky labeled a "dropout factory" by the Associated Press based on FCHS's failure to retain and graduate most of its entering freshmen....Over a three-year period " 2004-2006 " FCHS had a retention rate of only 60 percent, which translates into only 60 percent of entering freshmen went on to graduate four years later. That's simply shocking " and wholly unacceptable.Even given that some of those entering freshmen may have moved to other cities and schools in the period, when three out of 10 freshmen don't graduate, clearly action must be taken. And to its credit, the county school system has taken action to address this shocking statistic......But how did FCHS become a "dropout factory" in the first place while Western Hills and Frankfort High School did not? That's a question school board members and top administrators need to a
With the increased availability of broadband connections into local business, have you considered the potential impact of non-work related internet and email usage on your business. Some sources state that employees with access to the internet from their workstation waste as much as two hours per day. This is time that could be productive to your business. In addtion, potentially as much as 50% of your email traffic could be personal emails and jokes. This access could impede your business severely if, for example, an employee were to have offensive content visible on their workstation and another employee were to be offended. In addition, are you sure that your employees are not leaking sensitive information in their emails, or contravening the data protection act principles (for which you cold be personally liable)? How can you mitigate against this? In the first instance, make sure that you have a policy that is issued to all employees stating what is, and is not acceptable.
By Mike GibsonThe first thing that hit me when I got up Saturday morning was an inescapable feeling.Temple looked incredibly sloppy from a penalty, situation substitution and time management standpoint.A sharp Temple team, which all of Wayne Hardin's teams were, never did those things and that was remarkable in and of itself. Hardin's teams were noted for almost never going offside or having illegal procedures and almost never having situation substitution or time management problems.I have hopes that Al Golden's teams will take on the same kind of identity soon. I really believe he's working toward that day, but there have been more than a few of those kind of glitches in his first two years. Here are a few examples of the Friday night fiasco:Matt Balasavage was ruled an ineligible receiver after catching a key third-down pass from Adam DiMichele that would have kept alive a drive.Another key first-down catch by Daryl Robinson was negated by a hold on Rimington Watch List center Al
We lost this tie not last night but last week in Eindhoven . Patience is a word that has been used consistently in the last few weeks to describe are game plan. Last week patience became strolling and we got burned for it. We took for granted are dominance and was expecting the first goal to come. Like so many games this season the first goal didn’t come and they undeservedly scored on the counter attack. Was it overconfidence, arrogance or just a lack of urgency and creativity? Strange words to read when writing about a team that includes Rosicky, Henry, Hleb and Fabregas. Last seasons run was built on the characteristic’s that make the Premiership the most exciting to watch in the world. The reason we destroyed Juventus , Madrid and gave Barcelona the scare of their lives was due to the pace, power and high tempo the Premiership is famous for. What happened to the electric tempo in this year’s competition?
We have heard time and time again players moaning and loosi
This is not exactly the big farewell Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso had in mind as he prepared to leave office later this year, but like it or not, the big floods that have inundated Jakarta and brought the city to near paralysis as well as untold miseries over the past three days will be the biggest legacy of his 10-year reign. And it is probably just as well that he is going. If any head must roll for the poor handling of the disaster, it is Sutiyoso's, and his alone. It is simply unforgivable for a governor to see two major floods hit the city, and on both occasions leave the citizens helpless.
Although it doesn't make it any easier if one of your players appears to be actively courting the Italian club! The BBC report that Arsene Wenger is not too keen on the way that Inter have publicly stated that Alexander Hleb is one of their transfer targets this summer. The ...
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored tons of penalties this season, many of them after he’s been fouled in the penalty area. However, he showed at West Ham and then in the Champions League final that he’s not immune to missing from the spot, with Chelsea keeper Petr Cech pawing away his shot to put the Blues [...]
