Spring 2008Dear Friend,In New York City, a very disproportionate number (up to 40%), of homeless youth identify as LGBT. Even more disturbing are reports that these young people often face discrimination and at times physical assault in some of the very places they have to for help. This is shocking an inexcusable! That's why my manager, Lisa Barbaris and I are collaborating with Colleen Jackson a
"The goal of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) equality is at the heart of True Colors. From day one, the tour has sought to raise awareness about the discrimination the GLBT community still faces and raise significant funds for the organizations that work everyday on their behalf. This year, the True Colors Fund of Stonewall Community Foundation has been created to enable increased and efficient fundraising for the tour's national non-profit partners through various revenue sources. In addition to a portion of every ticket purchase, money will be raised through benefits."The Lineup: (Different per state, and venue, check for your local listing).Cyndi Lauper, The B-52's, Rosie O'Donnell, Regina Spektor, Andy Bell of Erasure, Teagan & Sara, Carson Kressley, Joan Jett & the Blac

Last Thursday, Thomas Sowell wrote this article on Republicans and our repeated failings in attracting minority voters. I initially considered writing my own post on this subject, but I decided against it. Since I have found more important things to study than differences in skin tone, I know almost nothing about why African-Americans tend to [...]
Show your true colors
Meaning:
To reveal your true intentions,
personality, or behaviors.
Example:
Everyone is on best behavior
on the first date, but soon enough you will show your true colors.
Origin:
Color(s) has numerous meanings.
An early use of the word is flag, pennant, or badge.
Early warships often carried flags from many nations on board in order
to elude or deceive the enemy. The rules of civilized warfare called for
all ships to hoist their true national ensigns before firing a shot.
Someone who finally "shows his true colors" is acting like a warship
which hails another ship flying one flag, but then hoisted their own when
they got in firing range.

Someday I'll post something long and meaningful describing what I've gone through over the past few weeks. In a nutshell I've slowly been discovering how someone I loved very much fooled me into believing he's something he's not. Something I should have known - but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I don't think that is such a bad thing. My mind is in a better place and I'm quickly rediscovering my friends and how wonderful they are.

I was captured by some autumn motives today. This is one of them.
When I saw this yellow tree I got what may seem to be a silly thought, but nonetheless…
How does that birch tree feel? I mean, she stands there showing her bright colors, in the middle of everything, sticking out from the rest? Does she feel out of place?
No. It can’t be. Just look at her! See how she stretches towards the sky, how she waves to us with her beautiful color, projecting her branches for all to see.
She wants me to notice her. Here am I, look at me! She shouts it, not because she is proud in thinking she is better than all the other trees, but because she is proud of who she is, and the joy she can give others.
And right now she is moving on. The world around her is clinging to its old ways, but she is taking steps forward, not afraid to change. After all, that’s what her life is all about.
In every way she is showing her true colors.
Are you and I?
- Pitches in Exeter and Mid Devon are sh*t. Literally. Matches held at Cullompton's CCA Fields have ended due to increasing amounts of dog doo on the playing field. Even in America, where soccer is scarcely respected, you'd be hard pressed to find fields covered in crap, dog or otherwise, but you'd figure in a country like England where the sport is king they would be more respectful of their fields.- Michel Platini, who seems so adamant about cleaning up European soccer, is against video replay. Rubbish. He claims he wants to keep the game 'human' and limit the 'mistakes', yet he's not against goal-line technology. How is that 'human'? Video replay would take much of the unintentional and intentional 'human' error out of the game. Either Platini has a gun to his head or he's looking for absolutely power, either way, he gave the gambling industry a smile with that one.- Old Trafford is apparently one big McDonalds. I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show

July 05, 2007True Colors Tourby Penny ArrabiataCYNDI LAUPER’S True Colors Tour had its final stop at the Greek Theatre on Saturday. I’m not a fan of daylight concerts but this one went well into the night and picked up speed with the setting sun and a shapely and soothing DEBORAH HARRY. When did she become soothing and when did she start looking like my Aunt Carol? Doesn't matter, my Aunt Carol is hot. After dark ERASURE took the stage and could have set Griffith Park on fire…again…with “Oh l’Amour." So good live I can’t tell you.The always hilarious MARGARET CHO worked the crowd in between bands and really kept the show moving. ROSIE O’DONNELL was also on the tour and guess what? She’s really funny. After all this crap with “The View” I totally forgot she was a comedian and a good one.+ MatthewShepard.org + HRCBy now you may have noticed all the acts are gay or gay-loving icons. In covering the multi-act "True Colors" concert at the Greek Theatre on Saturday, it's tempting to emulate the cable newswoman who last week refused to lead a telecast with "that story" (cough-Paris-cough). Here too, more substantive matters — the Human Rights Campaign's anti-gay-bashing efforts, which the tour is promoting — could have been overshadowed by the guest appearance of a tabloid star.Fortunately, the guest who showed up was Rosie O'Donnell, a longtime gay rights activist who was invited along by organizer-headliner Cyndi Lauper. How different it would have been if the rumors of a "surprise" performance by Britney Spears had proved true. Review: Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Tour, wrapping up Saturday at the Greek Theatre, features some standout artists.By CHRIS NIXONSpecial to the RegisterGone are the shocks of red and blue hair. Gone are the goofy videos with Captain Lou Albano. Gone are the squeaky voice and quirky persona. Who knew 20 years ago when Cyndi Lauper was a marginal and slightly annoying pop star that she'd grow into an activist in her middle age?Since its release in 1986, Lauper's ballad "True Colors" has been embraced as an anthem by the gay community and she's become a bit of an icon in the process. Now the 54-year-old mom from Queens, New York is working to raise public awareness about the issues facing gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. She's even built a 15-city tour around it. It's called the True Colors Tour 2007. One dollar of every ticket sold will benefit the work of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest organization working for GLBT equality."I'm not a politician

And if that weren’t enough, lesbian pioneers the Indigo Girls and Rosie O’Donnell, among other special guests, are slated to join the tour in various cities.“We’re gonna have a great time,” Lauper says in her infectious Brooklyn accent. “It’s my birthday. It’s Pride. We’re gonna have a party.”Although the Matthew

It has been reported, fat mom, Britney Spears has backed out of True Colors show this weekend due to the organisers disallowing her to lipsynch her songs. Spears was expected to perform at the show in Los Angeles Saturday along with Erasure, Deborah Harry, The Dresden Dolls and The MisShapes with Jeffree Star. But it looks like that won’t be happening as Britney refuses to sing live. The singer last appeared live in May, when she lip-synched her way though a series of brief 15 minute concerts. Opps she did it again! Oh Gosh..what’s happening to Britney? Meanwhile K-Fed is trying his hardest that Britney is mentally unstable and unsuitable to take care of their kids. Britney Spears "Terrified" Of Singing Live; Backs Out Of 'True Colors' ConcertJune 28, 2007 4:09 p.m. ESTJessica Pupovac - AHNLos Angeles, CA (AHN) - Britney Spears will not perform as part of the "True Colors" concert this weekend in Los Angeles, as announced earlier in the week. The 'Toxic' star was slated to perform at a benefit for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender organizations, alongside a star-studded lineup that includes Cyndi Lauper, Erasure and Debbie Harry. Earlier this week, Britney's choreographer Misha Gabriel revealed that she would be joining the tour. Fans, including Rosie O'Donnell, who is set to present the show, reacted with enthusiasm. "Brit, honey, you and me - we're gonna share, like, a backstage moment, 'cause I love you, kid," Rosie wrote in her blog. However, the pop diva reportedly opted out because of being criticized for lip-synching during her recent comeback performances."Britney said
The man who frequently sets the musical bar for club remixes has got to be Junior Vasquez. He spins on Saturday at the Crown and wonders how edgy the crowd will want him to be. Roland Belmares may be newer to the DJ booth but he knows how to make the house move.Vasquez, Belmares power up the music By Rob PhelpsBanner Correspondent As anyone familiar with the dance club scene will tell you, it’s all about the energy. At Independence 2007, the Crown & Anchor’s week-long Fourth of July celebration, the energy will be amped to the max. Seven hot deejays, among them industry legends and international headliners, are slated to spin the Crown’s Paramount nightclub and Wave video bar. Energy oscillates no matter how seriously it’s juiced. So the Banner rapped with two of the biggest names spinning the Crown to get a read on their meters: Junior Vasquez spins Saturday, June 30, at 9 p.m. and Legendary DJ Roland Belmares, Sunday, July 1, at 8 p.m. From the start it w
SATURDAY JUNE 23, 2007 12:30 PM EDT By Lycia NaffNearly two months after her Southern California mini-tour in early May, Britney Spears is getting ready to hit the stage again. June 30 at L.A.'s Greek Theatre, she's due to join Cyndi Lauper, Erasure, Debbie Harry, The Dresden Dolls, The MisShapes with special guest Jeffree Star and host Margaret Cho live onstage for the "True Colors" concert tour, Spears's choreographer, Misha Gabriel, tells PEOPLE. Friday at the Millennium Dance Complex in North Hollywood, the pop star held final callbacks to find the two male backup dancers she'll add to her act. Only snag, she never showed up. The plan had been for Spears to select two guys (out of 21) to join her in the choreographic number she'll perform at the Greek. Instead, however, she put her two longtime trusted female backup dancers – Criscilla Crossland and Lark – in charge of the process. The two videotaped all the aspirants, for Spears to observe
HRC counts its 'True Colors' with music and a messagePublished 06/21/2007 by Robert Sokol Debbie Harry from Blondie. When Gilbert Baker designed the original rainbow flag almost 30 years ago, it included eight swaths of true colors, each symbolizing an aspect of gay life as he saw it, from nature and spirit to serenity and healing. Due to limitations both financial and mechanical, we soon lost part of the message. Hot-pink sex became hard to find, and turquoise magic became the odd shade when an even presentation was needed. This summer, a rainbow of artists has spread magic and a message across the land with the True Colors tour. From a June 8 kick-off at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, the show has pinballed to dates in Salt Lake City, Denver, Chicago, Atlanta, Toronto and Atlanta. When it wraps up next week with a pair of Greeks (theatres, that is) in Los Angeles and the Bay Area, it will have played 16 cities and featured over a dozen iconic q
By JASON MACNEIL, SPECIAL TO SUN MEDIA She sang, she danced, she headlined. Oh and she bopped too. The first True Colors tour made its lone Canadian stop at the Molson Amphitheatre last night, with Cyndi Lauper closing the five-hour, six-act show. And while she'll be turning 54 a few days from now, the singer still wowed the crowd with a bevy of hits from her heyday as well as some new material. Opening with Hole In My Heart and wearing an umbrella-like hat with an orange wig underneath, Lauper and her five-piece cast energized the already energetic crowd by dancing barefoot, shaking hands with those on the floor and going deep into the audience. HUMAN RIGHTS The tour, created by Lauper, is in support of the Human Rights Campaign aimed at bringing awareness and advocating issues facing the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community. A portion of the show's proceeds also goes to Pride Toronto. After thanking the crowd for coming,

The weakness in HSI continued after a pause on Tuesday. The blood shed caused many China Stocks in Singapore to dips. I'm eyeing levels from 19,600 to 19,800 for strong support, breaks that, 18,000 level is possible. From a level at 20,600 , I have traded my position down to 20,200 to 20,300 levels. One thing I learn is not to sit idle and stare at a position gone wrong. I must learn to manage my position. I remain long on HSI. If HSI can rebound from here, objective level will be at 20,600 resistance gap. If market should give way, I will cut away my HSICW and somersault to PWs.Alot depends on Fed's minutes...with market giving no clues to what will be the result and stayed near record highs, this is the time to watch how the market reacts to Fed's minutes.
