It seems that Warashi has plans to bring their arcade/Dreamcast shooter Trigger Heart Exelica to the Xbox 360 via the Xbox Live Arcade later this year. Though the game has seen mixed reviews, I personally enjoyed its grabbing and throwing mechanics. It isn't a perfect game, but its defintiely enjoyable and a worthy addition to the ever expanding XBLA library.[Update - scans of Arcadia courtesy of Kobayan.]
For those of you who can't afford or refuse to part with the big bucks for Pocket Wizards Wireless Flash Triggers, there is always the less expensive, Chinese made 'Ghetto Triggers'. Notoriously cheap, poorly made and somewhat unreliable, they are nevertheless very popular items on E-bay that have made their way into most retail photography shops and a lot of Pro Shooter's camera bags. Some Remote Trigger Units being more dependable than others, you have to ask around on the photographers net forums to find a batch from a manufacturer / seller that has proven itself in daily use. The remotes currently offered on E-bay are hands down, more powerful and reliable than the units being produced just a few years ago. I own one myself and use it frequently with very few problems. The first images (that I've seen) of the full-colored models based on Trigger Heart Exelica by Alter have been posted on the company's website for viewing pleasure. When I last saw these kits, they were in a basic dull grey form and didn't really go along way in showcasing the amount of detail being crafted into them by the modeling team. Now however, once viewed in full color and with all of the different little accessories, I'm truly impressed with the work done by Alter.I know my co-workers are probably going to be disturbed by another anime/game based figure being placed on my desktop (it is currently covered with a series of Ibara figures), but this one may just be enough to encourage me to brush off their criticism to make a home for when its released later this year. The figure is set to be available in December.
Description
This circuit is used to trigger a camera’s electronic shutter circuit when a flash of lightning is present. This circuit would also work for photographing fireworks displays or other events involving flashes of light.
Theory
In a nutshell, the photo darlington converts light pulses into electrical pulses, the first LM324 section amplifies the electrical pulses, the second LM324 section is a high pass filter that only passes quick changes (lightning). The third LM324 stage is a comparator that allows only large pulses to pass through, and the 4047 one-shot stretches out the length of the pulses so that they are long enough to drive the relay and trigger the camera.
The 2N3904 drives the reed relay, which in turn triggers the camera’s electronic shutter switch. The VN10KM prevents the circuit from triggering the camera when it is first turned on. A Francesco Biasia bag at a glorious 50% off! Woohoo! It was last season’s but I’m not fussy. Its of a very soft calf leather and I liked it because the design looked classic and best of all, it looked great when I carried it.
It being in black is a bonus. I don’t usually carry black bags. I’m averse to them as I’m all about colour. Given a choice, I’d rather hit up a red, yellow or orange bag than a black one.
Incidentally, I saw the other Francesco Biasia I was eyeing in the Isetan catalogue. Fortunately, I decided I didn’t really like it very much in person. It was too large and the orange was more brown than orange. There was a smaller version in a cognac colour that did catch my eye but at a 4 figure price tag and a paltry 10% off, I was happy to skip it.
