Guantánamo judge rules Omar Khadr, arrested at 15, can be tried as war criminal
Omar Khadr, a Canadian who was shot and detained by US Special Forces troops in Afghanistan in July 2002 when he was 15 years old, goes before a drumhead military tribunal at the US detention camp in Guantánamo, Cuba today. Arrested as a child, he is now charged as a war criminal and faces a possible sentence of life in prison if convicted by the US military officers who are to decide his fate. Of all the many violations of international law committed by Washington in its "global war on terrorism" the prolonged detention and now prosecution of this youth is undoubtedly one of the most repugnant. Thursday's hearing follows a decision last week by a US military judge to reject a motion by defense attorneys that, because Omar was a child when captured by US forces, he is entitled u

"Carter's record of benevolence, diplomacy, and respect for human life is unrivaled in recent geopolitical history. PCB tried our best to include Yousuf in Indian Premier League
Pakistan Cricket Board on Friday said it had made every effort to see that senior batsman Mohammad Yousuf got a chance to play for some team in the Indian Premier League despite his legal hassles with the rebel Indian Cricket League."Twice he was available to the teams bidding for the players in the IPL auctions. But if no team bid for him what can we do?" a senior official said.Yousuf has been unhappy with his Board and Indian cricket officials for not doing enough to ensure teams showed interest in purchasing him for the IPL tournament, scheduled to start from April 18 in India.Teams apparently have avoided bidding for Yousuf as the legal advisors of the rebel Indian Cricket League had notified in writing before the players auction that, since they had filed a case against Yousuf with an

Family Gatherings, You Can't Get Out Of It Even If You Tried
I'm not sure about anyone else but family gatherings are something that I look forward to and yet, I dread at the same time. Let me tell you why.In my family, gatherings like the one I had earlier today always involve loads of food. So many different kind of food that by the time everyone leaves, they'll be filled to the gills and they even packed some of the food since there was so much left after the whole thing. It's not a Malay family gathering without food enough to feed a whole village for a week.An epic gathering usually happens when cousins come home for a visit. Especially when said cousins bring the newest addition to the family with them. When else are we going to meet the little tyke, since they'll be moving to another continent next week. These gatherings are also great opport

Have you ever tried to scrape your car windshield with an iPod? I don't recommend it.
There once was a time when my handy ice scraper was a cassette tape holder. Yes siree, I cleared a lot of windows with that clear plastic box that once held my copy of Def Leppard Hysteria. You would think I would have gotten myself a real, honest to goodness ice scraper with the harsh bristle brush on the other end, but you would be wrong. [Continue reading at May We Recommend...]

House-Breaking Success When You Tried Everything Else
By Dominic Lee One of the hardest hurdles of dog ownership can be house-training. Sometimes conventional training methods aren’t always successful, especially if your new best friend comes from a previously abusive or neglectful environment. No matter what the previous situation, barring any medical cause, any dog can be trained to relieve himself in a certain [...]

They aren't really overpriced, and give the first year at yahoo for $2 or $3... this seems like a good idea if you want to test traffic for a year (unless you have to agree to renew the domain).Has anyone ever tried yahoo domains? I tried Three's new Skype phone and I liked it
Before leaving for California, I was approached by Matt from 3mobilebuzz.com to test Three's new Skype phone. I don't usually bother reviewing products (albeit for a few books) but I live in London and my new company is in Mountain View, California. I am on Skype daily with our partners over the world, and often with our family and friends in Singapore. A phone plan that integrates Skype sounded like a godsend to me. Two months later, upon my return to the UK, I received as promised 2 phones for a month long trial. The phoneThe silver ring around the Skype button is borderline bling but overall the phone is sleek and elegant in its simplicity. And it has a really nice feel when you hold it. I guess Three must have spend weeks with focus groups just to get the right weight, not too heavy, not too light resulting in this smooth feeling handset that fits nicely in the hand. The specsDecent colour screen, 2MB camera, takes pictures, videos and many other things that I could not be poss

The Admission: Roberts Tried Steroids Once
I figured there was a reason for the silence, but now we know. From the Sun: "I would like to address the allegations that were made against me in the Mitchell Report. I will begin by saying that I have worked very hard to develop a good reputation both on and off the field. I have always taken pride in being a man of integrity and values. I know that by being a professional athlete, I am held to a very high standard. I never have and never will take that for granted. However, I am also human and I have made mistakes."In 2003, when I took one shot of steroids, I immediately realized that this was not what I stood for or anything that I wanted to continue doing. I never used steroids, human growth hormone or any other performance-enhancing drugs prior to or since that single incident. I can honestly say before God, myself, my family and all of my fans that steroids or any performance-enhancing drugs have never had any effect on what I have worked so hard to accomplish in the game of base

A Drunk Tried to Touch Me
It’s no longer safe to wait at the bus interchange. I was on my way home from the wedding dinner when this drunk, yet another dark skin, stared at me. I walked away from his line of stare. Not happy, he mumbled loudly and attempted to walk in front of me as close as possible, twice. I was contemplating to walk home when he tried to make his advances on me. Seriously, the police should patrol the dark places and even bus interchanges at night. I didn’t take a taxi because there was a jam forming at Orchard Road and I doubt that they would magically appear unless upon booking. It used to be safe when I got home late at night in my area. Now? It’s no longer safe. I have to worry about drunks, perverts and lord knows what else. Oh, and disappearing taxi drivers. © WishBoNe for A Mind of My Own, 2007. | Permalink | 3 comments This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 License.

The Tried-And-Tested Ebay Powerseller System To Internet Riches
These days, more and more people are looking towards Ebay as a way to create job-killing income on the Internet. But only a select few succeed. Here's how you can follow in the footsteps of Ebay Powersellers by following this tried-and-tested Ebay Powerseller system:Step #1: Find your red-hot marketSome of the biggest Ebay Powersellers sell things like electronics and home gyms. Can you find your niche? You must have passion for the items you are selling to make a success of this business. The market doesn't have to be a small niche market as well. Contrary to a popular belief, a "crowded" niche means that niche is making a ton of cash. A small niche with no competitors more often than not spells bad news.Step #2: Source your productsYou don't have to buy products in bulk and keep them in a warehouse which costs a fortune to lease. Going through this "old fashioned" route is likely to set you back tens of thousands of dollars. The lower your start-up costs, the less time it takes fo
