There's no better way to keep your friends back home up to date with your travels than keeping a blog. You can write something that all of them can read, without having to spend hours sending emails to individuals; you can include photos or videos, or links to places you've visited or stayed, and you can update it easily and regularly. It sounds perfect: so how come I find so many travel blogs that I just don't want to follow?

When I first started this blog, its purpose was to let my friends and family back home keep an eye on our lives teaching English in Korea (and to track my calorie intake). Also, this is going to be one heck of an online travel diary when I want to look back on our experience in Seoul. There have been many interesting things I wanted to post about. Well, today I'm going to talk about how to monetize your travel blog. This could be the post some of you have been waiting for...or not!I did not have any intentions to monetize my travel blog in the beginning (probably because I had no clue what I was doing) but as I learned more about the online world of blogging (ie ProBlogger and John Chow) the notion of making money online peaked my interest. So, to answer your questions and emails I am going to explain a few pointers on how to monetize your travel blog should you wish to do so! Here are some of this blog's best moneymakers.Google AdsenseWhen Google's shares aren't hovering over $700

Both dear hubby and I love to travel. In fact, I made a travel blog especially in which we posts our travel photos, adventures and so on. Tonight, I found a site where they have free travel blog from RealTravel.com. It is the travel guide and trip planner and a best place for real people to find and share travel advice and experiences. On this travel blog, you can share your travel with free travel blogs. All you have to do is create a travel blog and you track all your travels on a world map, access all of your travel experiences in one place, and connect to friends and favorite travelers. Capture your travel experiences and create unlimited number of blog entries, track individual trips with dynamic route maps, and upload, display and print unlimited photos. I think this is pretty cool.

Welcome to LatinaOnTravel.com! It was just two days ago when we wrote about one of the first steps to starting a travel blog. If you’re following along, or would like to, the second step would be to network your site, your new blog, that is.
The whole objective is to let people know that you have a new niche, and its something that you’d like to share.
A good notable place to share your new travel blog is on a top travel site list. That way your page is front and center to all of the travel lovers.
Social networking your new travel website can also include getting with more travel lovers that are found in travel communities.
Its all about setting up your new business profile and finding places to connect. Its both, what you know, and who you know when it comes to having a successful travel blog!
Another method would be to social bookmark your website.
We’ve put this post together hoping it would be useful. If this is a help to you, or if you have any other su
I’ve finally started to work on my travel blog. Some of friends think I’m crazy to start another new blog whenever my plate is so full. Well, travel is in my blood so I really like a blog dedicated to travel resources, travel tips, travel tales, travel photos, vacations, itineraries, exotic destinations…etc. I want to feature all kinds of hotels, resorts, B & Bs, exotic stays like Pigeon Forge vacation rentals or luxury lodges in New Zealand or some Carribean hideouts.
It’s just so nice to think about travels and vacations as the weekend is here. Where is your next travel destination?
Thinking of a holiday at Hawaii? Why not! You have been working round the year hard and now you deserve to spend some relaxing moments on beaches of Hawaii. Forget searching for various travel agencies and starts making your travel plans right now because everything you need is available online on hawaii beach front condo. Here you get all the information you need to know, and get access to vacation offers and packages. From this single site you can also get to know about airfares, car rentals and vacation rentals which include all. Sometimes what happen that people just plan to go to a place for vacation just because someone said it’s a fantastic place or just by looking photos, but in reality when you go there, you don’t enjoy and the whole vacation get spoiled. To make sure you never have this kind of experience, there is a blog entry too where real description are written of various vacation spots which are very truly and accurately described. Its not “all praise” kind of
I am amazed by the number of excellent travel blogs there are and the dedicated bloggers who are providing such consistently well written and useful content, often beautifully illustrated, and with lots of links to further sources of information.
Although there are many thousands of personal travel blogs (such a good way to keep a record of a special trip, including, of course, a home exchange), there are many others whose coverage goes way beyond their own personal experiences, with a mission to share a wide range of wonderful travel discoveries and ideas. Two blogs fit this category perfectly and both have recently published posts about home exchange:
'Swapping homes for vacations' was published on of travels and travails ('Musings...of travels and travails. Life is about the journey, not just the destination.')
'Travel the Home Exchange Way Blog' was published on Travel plan idea blog ('Travel plans & itineraries, fun vacation ideas & planning, destination
“If you’ve nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” That’s what mum always taught me. I think bloggers and travel writers could learn a bit from this. More appropriately: “If you don’t have anything good or worthwhile to say, don’t say anything at all.”
What Not To Do
Our Man in Granada had a curmudgeonly and spot-on post the other day entitled Tired of Reading Travel Crap.
… in line with the ever-increasing travel coverage in blogs and media, there is also a growing amount of crap spouted.
From MSNBC, entitled “Tourist Written All Over You”:
“Clothes make the tourist. White tennis shoes almost always announce an American tourist, just as black socks with shorts identify a British tourist. Sweatshirts with university names…blah blah blah”
The white tennis shoes (as opposed to the white face)? Really? Brits wear black socks and shorts? Really?. Sweatshirts with University names?
Lately I’ve been thinking about the strange irony of writing a travel blog while not actually traveling. In my heart, I’d like to think I’ll always be a traveler, regardless of where I am and whether or not I’m on the move. But it feels a little odd - like penning a child rearing blog because you occasionally babysit your sister’s kids or calling yourself a photography blogger because you happen to have glossy 18×24″ Ansel Adams prints hanging along your stairwell.
Then I remembered a heap of prose that I’d written awhile back while in Montreal for a job interview. It’s been quietly collecting dust for nearly five years as a series of draft posts on my to-remain-nameless personal blog. The reason being that some of its content is a bit risque. And, at the risk of being dooced, I elected not to publish it, ever weary that potential employers might catch wind.
But, given that no one knows I’m here on Vagabondish, let&rsquo
I was both surprised and grateful to be nominated yesterday by Carol for the Best Travel Blog category of the Blogger’s Choice Awards. Upon checking out the site, I was happy to see some other blogs I read regularly, including Brave New Traveler, Rambling Traveler, Ubertramp and The Lost Globe. In addition, I did my part to support TravelingChris by nominating him. He’s already got 3 votes, so he’s hot on my tracks!
Speaking of votes, I have 6 at the time of this writing, and it would only take a few more to bump me onto the leader board.
Please take a moment to cast your vote for GoBackpacking!

So you’ve started a travel blog.
Fantastic.
Chances are, you’ve also emailed your blog URL to your friends and family, in the hopes of sharing your experiences while you wander the globe for a few weeks, a few months, or if you’re lucky enough, a few years.
Your family and friends are big fans of your blog. Of course they are. But perhaps you wish…just a little bit…that you had more readers.
You wish your visitor counter was a little bit higher every time you visit an internet cafe to post your latest dispatch. You hope for a few appreciative emails in your inbox, from strangers who stumbled onto your blog and were compelled to keep reading.
Sadly, those unsolicited fans never seem to emerge. What could be wrong?

It was bound to happen eventually.
In fact, I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner. Mark Ashley over at Upgrade: Travel Better has finally decided to step up and start the very first travel blog awards: The Travvies.
Why you ask? Mark provides the answer:
There's a misconception that travel blogs are all travel diaries. Some of these might be terrific, but the scope of the travel blogosphere is much larger. More and more, these blogs are influencing the way consumers, companies, and journalists get information. The Travvies try to take this breadth into account.
There’s no prize, other than the prestige that comes from recognition within the travel blog community. And that’s certainly worth more than any shiny trophy (although ludicrous bags of money would be nice).
There are 6 categories in total, and I think we have a decent shot at 3 of them. As editor of Brave New Traveler, this is my attempt at asking you, dear reader, to visit the links below and n
