Tissue box mood control – try tackling it Tuesday
As with most tips and tricks around here, this has been scientifically, nay, exhaustingly tested for your benefit. I can assure you that it is 100% effective for one typical and one atypical child. Conversely, it is completely ineffective for another typical and atypical child. Thusly, an overall 50% success rate is worth a bash in my book. Follow the basic principles in “tissue box.” Ch

Educate Yourself - Soft Tissue Implants:
For the express purpose of enhancing the face, there has been a long list of fillers that have been used since experimentation on facial plastic surgery began. Surgeons made use of vegetable oils, silicone oil, beeswax and even petrolatum to add volume to the facial tissue. However, these fillers proved unsafe for use as they posed a health risk for the patient. An improvement on non invasive facial fillers was the development of the bovine collagen, an injectable. But this material was too readily absorbed by the body and lead to further research on the issue of soft tissue implants. Plastic surgery specialists and medical experts are still looking for fillers which can be either injected into the human body or surgically inserted without getting absorbed too quickly. While plastic

Closest Look Ever At Native Human Tissue
"This is a real breakthrough in two respects," says Achilleas Frangakis, group leader at EMBL. "Never before has it been possible to look in three dimensions at a tissue so close to its native state at such a high resolution. We can now see details at the scale of a few millionths of a millimetre. In this way we have gained a new view on the interactions of molecules that underlie cell adhesion in tissues -- a mechanism that has been disputed over decades." So far, the only information available about a protein's position and interactions in a cell was based on either light microscopy images at poor resolution or techniques that remove proteins from their natural context. Frangakis and his group have been developing a technique called cryo-electron tomography, with which a cell or tissue is instantly frozen in its natural state and then examined with an electron micro-scope. Electron microscopy normally requires tissue to be treated with chemicals or coated in metal, a procedure that

      BANANA TISSUE CULTURE 2
Why endophytes? The lack of clean planting material is a major constraint for banana production in sub-Saharan Africa. The banana weevil, Cosmopolites sordidus, is the most important insect pest of highland bananas and plantains. Banana weevil larvae tunnel into the rhizome (underground stem), resulting in reduced nutrient uptake, weakening the stability of the plant, and causing plants to break. The burrowing nematode, Radopholus similis is globally the most important nematode pest to banana production and a major constraint in East Africa. Nematodes kill the roots by feeding on them. The destruction of root tissues reduces yield, and ultimately destroys plant anchorage, resulting in a typical symptom of toppling of the whole plant.Banana in the region is traditionally propagated by means of suckers, which are rhizomes cut off from the motherplant. These suckers are infested with soilborne pests such as the banana weevil and the burrowing nematode. Consequently, the use of suckers as a

      BANANA TISSUE CULTURE
Plant tissue culture is the science of growing plant cells, tissues or organs isolated from the mother plant, on artificial media. It includes techniques and methods appropriate to research into many botanical disciplines and several practical objectives. Both organized and unorganized growth is possible in vitro .Organized growth of banana tissue in vitro is limited to embryo culture and shoot tip culture. Embryo culture is an important aid for classical breeding in banana since the germination frequency of seed is extremely low. Through embryo rescue, this frequency can be 10 times increased . Major applications of shoot tip culture are mass clonal propagation and germplasm conservation. In the former already existing shoot tips are stimulated to multiply rapidly, while in the latter, the multiplication rate is slowed down. This technique is applied for the conservation of The International Musa germplasm collection at the INIBAP (International Network for the Improvement of Banana a

Cutaneous Necrobiosis Tissue Reaction In Systemic Diseases
Necrobiosis is applied to certain granulomatous disorders where the dermal connective tissue becomes homogenized and loses its normal staining characteristics. It is a pathological finding, which is observed not only in a simple localized skin lesion, e.g. granuloma annular (GA), necrobiosis lipoidica (NL), but also in skin lesions which associated with underlying systemic diseases. Aim of the work: to explore the possibility that, cases with underlying systemic disorders could exhibit distinctive cutaneous necrobiosis tissue reaction. Patients and methods: The study group comprised 11 patients (9 females and 2 men ranging in age from 19 to 63 years) in whom 16 skin biopsies yielded a histological picture of necrobiotic granuloma, and in whom a clinical history showed systemic disease. The main systemic disease associations were diabetes mellitus, rheumatoid arthritis, malignant nodular goiter, Wegners granulomatosis with highly positive. c-ANCA, primary nodal lymphoma and cutaneous gr

      Connective Tissue Diseases
The connective tissue diseases have a pattern of organ involvement that overlaps and often makes specific diagnosis difficult. When first recognized as a distinct histopathologic characteristic, the perivascular collagen deposition prompted the name collagen vascular disease. Their association with immunologic reactions to body proteins subsequently caused the name change to autoimmune diseases. These entities are, however, more correctly called connective tissue diseases. Biochemical and ultrastructure studies indicate that collagen derangement and evidence of autoimmunity may not be the primary disease. The exact cause of connective tissue diseases remains obscure. Specific autoantibodies are associated with some of these entities, supporting the presumption of an autoimmune mechanism. Definite evidence demonstrating loss of self-tolerance or specific antigens is lacking. The prevailing histopathologic feature of these diseases is a ...

Flower using Tissue Papers and Lace
Recently, I've created a "scrap magic pouch" for a friend's birthday. I've used some tissue paper and a cut out lace flower to create a flower on the pouch. To create that flower, just simple follow the steps below.1. First, choose your desired colour coordination for the flower. Then, cut out some flower petals out of tissue papers and here I've cut out a layer of the flower from a mulberry paper too. This is too add some dimension for the flower. I've also cut out a flower from a left over lace that's in my stash.2. Add some details to them by doodling, attaching some sequins and inking.3. Attached them together using a brad and it's set.I've been having fun creating all sort of flowers these days. So hope this is a great one that some of you might want to give it a try.

Adipose Tissue Protocols (Methods in Molecular Biology)
Book DescriptionGérard Ailhaud and a team of laboratory experts and clinicians describe in step-by-step detail the major techniques needed for the study of adipose tissue and cells. Drawn from both in vivo and in vitro studies, these readily reproducible methods cover a broad range of techniques, including the choice of adipose tissue depot and of morphological techniques for work on both brown adipose tissue (BAT) and white adipose tissue (WAT). Major treatment is accorded to the isolation, subcellular fractionation, and transfection of low density adipocytes as well as metabolic aspects of nutrient uptake and assays of nutrient and ion fluxes. Innovative and highly practical, Adipose Tissue Protocols offers endocrinologists, physiologists, cell biologists, and pharmacologists a gold-standard collection of proven methods for effective research on adipose tissue from the nutritional to the physiological and the molecular levels. My Own Tissue Usage Theory
When I read the news that a new automatic toilet paper dispenser had been invented and would now start showing up in our public bathrooms, I paid attention. Every time I've used the rest room since I read the news article I've tested their theory - which is Americans use too much toilet paper and that the new dispensers will only give out 5 standard little sheets because Americans will 'use what

      Soft Tissue Biomechanics
Soft tissues such as tendon, ligament and cartilage are combinations of matrix proteins and fluid. In each of these tissues the main strength bearing element is collagen, although the amount and type of collagen varies according to the function each tissue must perform. Elastin is also a major load-bearing constituent within skin, the vasculature, and connective tissues. The function of tendons is to connect muscle with bone and is subjected to tensile loads. Tendons must be strong to facilitate movement of the body while at the same time remaining compliant to prevent damage to the muscle tissues. Ligaments connect bone to bone and therefore are stiffer than tendons but are relatively close in their tensile strength. Cartilage, on the other hand, is primarily loaded in compression and acts as a cushion in the joints to distribute loads between bones. The compressive strength of collagen is derived mainly from collagen as in tendons and ligaments, however because collagen is comparable

      Travel Tissue Holder
I remember back at school (seems like a long time ago now!) everybody had to take the 'Home Economics' course. This taught the basics of various skills for around the house. For cookery we learned to make bread, pizza, baked potatoes and a cup of tea. For needlework we made hand-puppets and a cover for a tissue box. This simple project is not for a tissue box but rather a soft tissue holder
