I accomplished a lot of beadwork today! I finished beading the first layer of my DeLorean time machine. I used the metallic hex-cut glass beads I found when I was in the Czech Republic. They are a little sparkly, but I think it will be okay- I'm not finished beading yet... :oAbove, you can see that I'm working in two layers - one layer of felt for the gull-wing door, and the other for the body of

There's nothing extraordinary fresh about his music, no, but it's not essentially bad. Drake's sweet electronic pop smoothly enters your body system and gently clears it of chemical waste your more experimental sounds might have left. Apple NAS box ties in to Leopard's Time Machine
Macworld Expo Apple today renewed its AirPort Extreme BaseSation Wi-Fi router, adding in a "server grade" hard drive to convert it into a network-attached storage box dubbed the Time Capsule. As the name suggests, it's designed to work with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard's Time Machine automatic sequential facility. Like the drive-less AirPort Extreme BaseSation, Time Capsule has a USB port on the back which can take an external hard drive and make it available over the network too. The 19.7 x 19.7 x 36.3cm unit has dual-band 802.11n on board - the 2.4GHz band and the less crowded, wider 5GHz band - and four Gigabit Ethernet ports, one of them for hooking up an internet modem. Two models will go on offer: a 500GB unit for $299/£199 and a terabyte product for $499. Both are set to ship in Februa

Backing up work with Time Machine
I have always been aware of the importance of backing up work but up until recently it was always one of those little jobs that I didn’t quite get round to doing often enough, my setup was a 160 GB Formac external hard drive attached to my old eMac. While I didn’t have any problems with the Formac drive it had a built in fan which made the drive ridiculously noisy, also despite it’s relatively small storage size of 160 GB the drive was physically big - it took up a footprint of just under an A4 piece of paper and was the height of 2 and a half dvd cases laid flat. Because of it’s design it couldn’t really be stood on it’s end which would have saved a lot of desk space. Having upgraded my iMac to OS X Leopard it made sense to use it’s built in backup application Time Machine, but to get the most out of it I realised I would need a bigger and better external hard drive. I decided early on that I wanted the drive to have more storage space than the iMac’s 500 GB internal h

Walkthrough: Time Machine for OS X 10.5 Leopard
This tutorial will take you step by step through using the new Time Machine feature of OS X 10.5, Leopard. External hard drives are continuing to drop in price. There’s really no reason not to have one. Or two. The comfort of knowing that all of your files are being continually backed up - automatically - is well worth the cost. With the inclusion of Time Machine to Leopard, I no longer have to use Mozy as my backup solution (but I do, because having two backups is better than one). Anyway - here are the step by step instructions to setting up and using Time Machine. Start by clicking the Time Machine icon from your dock (or Applications list) Since this is the first time Time Machine is being opened, you’ll be prompted to set it up. Click the Set Up Time Machine button to continue. click to enlarge Make sure that the Time Machine ’slider’ is set to ON, and then click the Choose Backup Disk… button. click to enlarge Select the drive you wa

      Time Machine's Simplicity Compels You
If you're running Leopard and you've got an external hard drive, you will back up your data, even if that wasn't your intention when you bought the drive or plugged it into your Mac. That's because Leopard's system snapshot mechanism, Time Machine, is dead simple to enable—and Leopard prompts you to turn it on the moment you plug in your FireWire drive. You'll think, "why not?" and why not indeed
